Abstract:

Syftet med denna uppsats är att konstruera ett antal undervisningsexempel i Excel för lärare och elever i gymnasieskolan.

I dagens näringsliv så vill man ha kort utvecklingstid av nya produkter. För detta så används exempelvis Excel och modeller av verkliga scenarion. Det blir därför viktigt/nödvändigt för dagens gymnasieelever att vara väl förtrogen med dessa utvecklingsverktyg.

Enligt skolverket, (2002) så skall mål i kursplanen i ämnet matematik i gymnasieskolan sträva mot:

Skolan skall i sin undervisning i matematik sträva efter att eleverna utvecklar sina kunskaper om hur matematiken används inom informationsteknik, samt hur informationsteknik kan användas vid problemlösning för att åskådliggöra matematiska samband och för att undersöka matematiska modeller.

Vi menar att datorstödd undervisning kan vara behjälplig för att främja inlärningen och höja elevernas motivation. I våra exempel har vi utgått ifrån att lärare skall kunna använda sig av dessa exempel utan någon större förberedelsetid. Läraren kan välja om han vill använda exemplen så som de är eller förändra exemplen. Det är också meningen att exemplen skall kunna fungera så att läraren ger i uppgift till eleverna att de skall bygga upp exemplen från grunden.

De framtagna exemplen anser vi vara en värdefull tillgång inom den laborativa matematiken i gymnasieskolan.


The aim of this essay is to construct a number of pedagogical examples in Excel to be used by teachers and students in Upper Secondary school.

In today’s trade and industry the wish is to reach as short developmental phases as possible for new products. To make this possible, Excel for example, and real scenarios can be used. Therefore it is important/necessary for today’s students at Upper Secondary school to be familiar with these developmental tools.

According to the National Swedish Agency for Education, the goal to strive for in the syllabus for Mathematics at Upper Secondary school is:

”The school should in its teaching in Mathematics, strive for helping the students develop their knowledge about how Mathematics is used within information technology, and also how information technology can be used while working with solution of a problem to illustrate mathematical connections and to examine mathematical models.”

We mean that computer-aided education could assist in the student’s education to support learning and motivation. Our examples assume that teachers should be able to use these examples without any further preparation. The teacher can choose if he/she prefers to use the examples as made up, or if they want to change them. The purpose is also to make it possible for teachers to give students as an assignment to construct the examples from scratch.

The constructed examples should, according to us, be used as a valuable supply within the laboratory mathematics in Upper Secondary school.

EXCEL SHEET BASED SEMANTIC EMAIL Rajesekhar R, Dandolu December 10, 2004. 47 Pages Directed by: Dr. Guangming Xing Department of Computer Science Western Kentucky University The Semantic Web is an extension of the current web in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. The Semantic Web envisions a portion of the World-Wide Web in which the underlying data is machine understandable and can thus be exploited for improved querying, aggregation, and interaction. Excel Sheet Based Semantic Email is a type of Semantic Web application, which deals with the understanding of emails received and performing corresponding actions according to the schema specified in the email. The user can compose an email structure and specify all the semantic actions and necessary information related to a particular schema. The emails received are processed according to the schema format to which they belong and corresponding semantic actions are taken. In this project, Semantic Email is implemented by encoding the information in Excel Sheets. It could be reengineered to support heterogeneous semantic actions based on the particular application. The project can be enhanced providing a web interface, apart from the email system that is currently used as the way of communication. The clients can directly use the web page,

The entry into higher mathematics begins with calculus. Rarely, however, does the calculus student recognize the full power and applications for the mathematical concepts and tools that are taught. Frank R. Giordano, Maurice D. Weir, and William P. Fox produced A First Course in Mathematical Modeling a unique text designed to address this shortcoming and teach the student how to identify, formulate, and interpret the real world in mathematical terms. Mathematical modeling is the application of mathematics to explain or predict real world behavior. Often real world data are collected and used to veriiy or validate (and sometimes formulate) a hypothetical model or scenario. Inevitably, in such situations, it is desirable and necessary to have computational support available to analyze the large amounts of data. Certainly this eliminates the tedious and inefficient hand calculations necessary to validate and apply the model (assuming the calculations can even be reasonably done by hand). The primary purpose of Mathematical Modeling Using Microsoft Excel is to provide instructions and examples for using the spreadsheet program Microsoft Excel to support a wide range of mathematical modeling applications. Microsoft Excel is a powerful spreadsheet program which allows the user to organize numerical data into an easy to follow on-screen grid of columns and rows. Our version of Excel is based on Microsoft Windows. In this text, it is not the intent to teach mathematical modeling, but rather to provide computer support for most of the modeling topics covered in A First Course in Mathematical Modeling. The simulation model will test various scenario’s of queuing theory. Inputs can be changed to suit the users requirements. Results may be analysed to determine an optimal queuing environment.

This paper introduces a set of macros that automate the importing of antenna data into Excel and charting that data. These macros (as discussed here) import data from a ViaSat ACUs (Antenna Control Unit) and a TCS ACU (Telemetry & Communications Systems Inc). After the import is complete, the macros can build a set of charts, all formatted and labeled in a predetermined and standard manner. A task that may take half a day or more can be completed in minutes. The concept and layout of the macros lend them to quick adaptation to your data. In scenarios of “test and collect” followed by “import and chart”, the data can be imported and charted within the minute.

Byggbranschen anses ofta som långsam, dyr och ineffektiv, vilket skapar möjligheter till förbättring. Denna uppsats angriper projekteringsskedet då konstruktionsritningar skapas. Dimensionering av stålanslutningar kan upplevas som en komplicerad och lång process, speciellt vid handberäkning Det lämnar utrymme för effektivisering som på så sätt sparar både tid och pengar. Uppsatsen avgränsas till stålanslutningen stånginfästning som är vanligt förekommande i fackverkskonstruktioner av olika slag. Exempel på sådana konstruktioner är fackverkstakstolar, fackverksbroar samt vid stagning av andra konstruktioner med hänsyn till vippning och knäckning. En genomgång av dimensioneringsgången har gjorts och exempeluppgifter har skapats för att kunna tillämpa kunskaperna. Därefter programmerades samma dimensioneringsgång i Excel för att undersöka vilka möjligheter till effektivisering som finns med programvaran. En avgörande faktor till knutpunktens kapacitet uppmärksammades. Knutpunktens kapacitet beror till stor del av stängernas utformning i förhållande till varandra. Vidare observerades goda dimensioneringsmöjligheter i Excel där kontroller och dimensionering av alla möjliga stålprofiler utförs på ett ögonblick. Dessutom ges en visuell överblick av möjliga alternativ hållfasthetsmässigt men också ur ett ekonomiskt perspektiv. Stålprofilerna ställs mot varandra i grafer för att på så sätt förenkla valet av profil. Då fråga om tillgänglighet eller behov av anpassad redovisning av dimensioneringsberäkningar är aktuellt rekommenderas Excel.

This thesis deals with comparison of these optimization systems and simplicity of their connection with MS Excel through VBA. Application in Visual Basic for Applications was created for this purpose. IKEA HaparandaTornio employ some two-hundred people in its furniture retail store. Keeping track of staff statistics and employee information has previously been achieved through the use of a basic Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet. The store’s human resources department requested an upgrade to this system with the hope of speeding up and simplifying the administrative process, as well as to make it easier to monitor HR-related target statistics. The following report documents the development process of that upgrade as carried out by the author. The project draws on research in usability design and cognitive psychology to develop a user-friendly interface. Particular focus has been put on features related to the administration of employee information, including adding, editing and deleting personnel entries, as well as a clean and informative statistical interface. The result is an Excel-based information system that uses VBA programming to achieve said goals. The vast majority of planned features were implemented, although some were revised or scaled-down due to limitations in Excel. Overall the project goal was reached, but work will continue in order to enhance the final result.

Ett användarinterface i Excel kan återskapas på ett strukturerat sätt i Qt. Programmet Qt är lättanvänt för någon med programmeringserfarenhet, men svårt för andra. Qt finns som gratisversion och är baserat på programspråket C++. Tågföretaget Bombardier använder ett interface i Excel, men med nya versioner av programmet har problem uppstått. I detta projekt undersöks svårighetsgraden av Qt och delar av Excel-interfacet återskapas i Qt. Först skapades en design i Qt med bland annat tryckknappar, komboboxar och textfält. Sedan skrevs kod för designens funktion. Slutligen sammanfogades interfacets delar och testkördes.

Abstract:
The aim of the diploma thesis was to create independently an application, automating a correspondence analysis calculation using MS Excel and taking advantage of VBA programming language. The application was then used to analyse Slovak banking sector. The created application is based on macro sets which can be split up to two parts. The first part produces a contingency table and converts it into a format usable in the second part. Then there is executed the Correspondence Analysis calculation itself. Supplement Matrix is being used, that allows to discharge functions from matrix and linear algebra. The application allows to process any matrix dimension. Dialog window offers four normalization types, shortened and also full output and it is possible to display row or column variable categories, eventually both. The analysis subject was to find out which of the products are typical for considered banks and for which clients, divided into age categories, is attractive particular bank and/or product. A starting point is a product usage data matrix at a particular bank. There was made a conclusion, that it is possible to divide banks into more traditional or modern type institutions and also that each bank has a typical product.

Considering the increasing number of prominent women in the various sectors of society, this research aimed to investigate their styles of thinking and creativity and to verify differences in the environmental and psychological factors that influence the creative production of creative excellent Brazilian and Portuguese women in different areas. To this end, 35 women - 20 Brazilian and 15 Portuguese women made up the sample investigated. 11 Brazilian and 9 Portuguese women were socially recognized for their creative production in different areas of knowledge, while 9 Brazilian and 6 Portuguese women were not socially recognized for creative production. The instruments utilized were: the Interview Guide, the Thinking and Creating Styles Scale and the Biographical Scale of Leading Creative Women. The Interview Guide consists of 15 semi-open questions related to childhood, adolescence, career, work process, observed changes in work over the years, personal locks, identification of talented young people in the area of operation, administration of personal life and professional challenges today and free time. The Thinking and Creating Styles Scale is a linkert-type scale and consists of 100 items that assess the following styles: Cautious-Reflective, nonconformist-Transformer, Logical-Objective, Emotional-Intuitive and Relational-Divergent. The Biographical Scale of Leading Creative Women is also a linkert-type one and consists of 69 items related to 5 dimensions: childhood and adolescence, school life, work, family and sexuality. The Mann-Whitney test was used for the Thinking and Creating Styles Scale and to the Biographical Scale of Leading Creative Women in order to compare both the socially recognized creative women and those not recognized as such. As for the interviews, a content analysis was carried out, and a comparison based on the answering categories was made between the socially recognized and non-recognized women for their creative production by means of the Chi-squared distribution. The results indicated that there were no significant differences in thinking and creating styles between the creative excellent and noncreative excellent Brazilian and Portuguese women, nor between the creative excellent women of both countries. There were significant differences in the dimension Mother- Influence in Childhood and Adolescence (p<0.05) in the Biographical Scale between the award-winning and non-award-winning Brazilian women, as well as in Male-Female in the Workplace (p<0.05) and Work Affiliation (p<0.05) between the award-winning and nonaward- winning Portuguese women on the basis of the same instrument. Moreover, as far as the content analysis was concerned, significant differences (p<0.05) were found in the Intrinsic Motivation, Leisure and Favorable Environmental Factors to Creativity. Highly significant differences (p<0.001) were also found in Personal and Cognitive Characteristics, Personality Traits and Creative Process Conditioning Factors between the award-winning and non-award-winning Brazilian women. Between the award-winning and non-awardwinning Portuguese women there was significant difference (p<0.05) for the Behavior in Childhood category and highly significant differences (p<0.001) in these two other categories: Personal and Cognitive Characteristics and Favorable Environmental Factors to Creativity. It was concluded that creative excellent women of both countries have similar profile, however there are differences between the creative excellent and non-creative excellent women in both countries.
Considerando o aumento do n?mero de mulheres em posi??o de destaque nos diversos setores da sociedade, esta pesquisa buscou investigar os estilos de pensar e criar e verificar as diferen?as nos fatores ambientais e psicol?gicos que influenciam a produ??o criativa de mulheres excelentes criativas brasileiras e portuguesas em diferentes ?reas. Para tanto, fizeram parte da amostra 35 mulheres - 20 brasileiras e 15 portuguesas. 11 brasileiras e 9 portuguesas eram socialmente reconhecidas por produ??o criativa em diferentes ?reas de conhecimento, enquanto 9 brasileiras e 6 portuguesas n?o eram reconhecidas socialmente por produ??o criativa. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: o Roteiro de Entrevista, a Escala de Estilos de Pensar e Criar e a Escala Biogr?fica de Mulheres L?deres Criativas. O Roteiro de Entrevista ? composto por 15 quest?es semi-abertas relacionadas ? inf?ncia, adolesc?ncia, carreira, processo de trabalho, mudan?as observadas no trabalho com o passar dos anos, bloqueios pessoais, identifica??o de jovens talentosos na ?rea de atua??o, administra??o da vida pessoal e profissional, desafios na atualidade e tempo livre. A Escala de Estilos de Pensar e Criar ? do tipo Likert e composta por 100 itens que avaliam os estilos Cauteloso- Reflexivo, Inconformista-Transformador, L?gico-Objetivo, Emocional-Intuitivo e Relacional- Divergente. A Escala Biogr?fica de Mulheres L?deres Criativas tamb?m ? do tipo Likert e constitu?da por 69 itens relacionados a 5 dimens?es inf?ncia e adolesc?ncia, vida escolar, trabalho, fam?lia e sexualidade. O teste Mann-Whitney foi utilizado para a Escala de Estilos de Pensar e Criar e para a Escala Biogr?fica de Mulheres L?deres Criativas para comparar os grupos de mulheres brasileiras e portuguesas socialmente reconhecidas como criativas e n?o reconhecidas. Quanto ?s entrevistas, foi feita an?lise de conte?do e as categorias de respostas foram comparadas entre as mulheres brasileiras e portuguesas reconhecidas e n?o reconhecidas socialmente em produ??o criativa por meio do Qui-quadrado. Os resultados indicaram que n?o existiram diferen?as significativas nos estilos de pensar e criar entre as mulheres excelentes criativas e as n?o excelentes criativas brasileiras e portuguesas e entre as excelentes criativas de ambos pa?ses. Elektronische Prüfungen (E-Assessments) mit standardisierten Aufgabenformaten sind in teilnehmerstarken Prüfungssituationen ein besonders effizientes Testverfahren (Michel, Goertz, Radomski, Fritsch, & Baschour, 2015; Pengel, Hawlitschek, & Karapanos, 2019). Gleichzeitig entstehen mit ihrem Einsatz hohe Aufwände bei der Verwaltung der notwendigen Aufgabensammlungen (Itempool-Management). Die gegenwärtig eingesetzten Learning-Management-Systeme (LMS) unterstützen die in diesem Zusammenhang anfallenden Arbeitsaufgaben oft nur unzureichend, obwohl effizientere Methoden technisch machbar erscheinen. Zwar verfügen LMS wie ILIAS oder OPAL grundlegend über alle notwendigen Funktionen zur Erstellung, Bearbeitung und für den Austausch von Testitems. Die browserbasierten grafischen Schnittstellen erfordern allerdings ein hohes Maß an ‚Klickarbeit‘, sind wegen der technisch bedingten Wartezeiten zwischen Eingabe und Systemantwort bei synchronen Webdiensten nicht immer zeiteffizient und erscheinen damit für den Aufbau und die Pflege großer Itempools wenig geeignet. Die Plattformen offenbaren darüber hinaus Schwächen bei der Erfassung und Bearbeitung wichtiger inhaltsbezogener Metadaten wie der Anforderungsstufe, zugeordneter Learning Outcomes oder der thematischen Verortung eines Items innerhalb einer Wissensdomäne. Auch die vorhandenen Import-/Exportschnittstellen für die Offline-Bearbeitung stellen keine zufriedenstellende Lösung des Problems dar, weil sie wegen des in der Regel genutzten XML-Dateiformats für technische Laien weitgehend gebrauchsuntauglich sind. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird ein Interaktionskonzept für das Itempool-Management auf Basis von Microsoft Excel vorgestellt, das die benannten Schwachstellen adressiert und eine Alternative zu bestehenden Lösungen anbietet. Seine praktische Eignung wird anhand von Ergebnissen eines vergleichenden Nutzertests überprüft und diskutiert.

Triple Bottom Line är ett brett begrepp som definierar hållbar utveckling, och är ett ramverk som företag kan arbeta utifrån i sitt hållbarhetsarbete. Enligt Triple Bottom Line finns det tre aspekter av hållbarhet: ekonomisk, ekologisk och social. I detta projekt har företaget Office Recycling efterfrågat ett excelverktyg som kan hjälpa dem i hållbarhetsarbetet utifrån ett ekologiskt och ekonomiskt perspektiv. Under projektet har ett excelverktyg skapats som säljavdelningen på Office Recycling kan använda vid kundbearbetning och kundanalys. Verktyget, kallat Rädda Sven, har tagits fram med hjälp av Visual Basic Editor (VBE) i programmeringsspråket Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) som används i programmet Excel. Verktyget är uppbyggt av tre koder vilka är kopplade till tre knappar: Återvinning, Prisbild samt Kundanalys. Verktyget består således av tre delar. Återvinning och Prisbild rangordnar kunderna efter hur väl de överensstämmer jämfört med en optimal kund som tagits fram som referens. I rangordningen hamnar de kunder som avviker mest från referensen högst upp i den genererade resultatlistan och säljavdelningen får på så sätt en bra överblick över vilka kunder de ska marknadsföra sig mot. När säljavdelningen identifierat en kund de vill titta närmare på kan Kundanalys användas för att få en kundspecifik profil för den aktuella kunden. Med hjälp av Rädda Sven gjordes en analys av 10 % av Office Recyclings avtal. Ur ett ekonomiskt perspektiv visar resultatet att priserna varierar mellan olika kunder samt att priserna i många fall avviker från den referens som användes i analysen. Resultatet visar även vilka fraktioner som är vanligast att kunderna återvinner samt att de flesta kunderna återvinner få fraktioner, det vill säga få olika material. 80 % av kunderna återvinner mindre än tre olika material vilket inte är lönsamt, varken ekonomiskt eller ekologiskt.

Thesis is based on original self-made application programmed at VBA in MS Excel 2007. The reason to build this application was integration of simulation Monte Carlo and chosen optimization methods. The application allows do simulation of the knapsack problem and of the assignment problem with uncertainty. The parameters of these models are possible to set up as changing values in dependence of chosen probability distribution. Output of the simulation is a probability recommendation which objects should be used. Choose of objects depend on optimized models. Results of both models are represented by statistical indexes, tables of parameters and graph.

Det huvudsakliga målet med redovisning har alltid varit detsamma, att skapa och förse information till interna och externa beslutsfattare. Redovisningsyrket har förändrats i och med digitaliserings intåg. För en redovisningsekonom är det därför av hög relevans att följa med i de tekniska hjälpmedlens utveckling. Studier har visat att denmest efterfrågade kunskapen enredovisningsekonom kan besitta efter erfarenhet är Excel. Tidigare forskning har belyst att nyexaminerades Excelkunskaper inte motsvarar arbetsgivarnas krav. Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att kartlägga vadsvenska lärosäten gör för att tillgodose arbetsgivarnas krav gällande digitalisering i allmänhet och Excel i synnerhet. För att syftet skulle uppnås undersöktes kursplaner för 72 redovisningskurser på 22 lärosäten. Sedan intervjuades 10 kursansvariga på 10 olika lärosäten med hjälp av intervjufrågor som var utformade via Technology Acceptance Model 2. I denna uppsats valdes kvalitativ metod med kvantitativt inslag. Resultatet visade att Excel nämns i 1 av 72 kursplaner men användes på 6 av 10 intervjuade lärosäten i utbildningen. Vidare visade resultatet att arbetsmarknadens krav, arbetsrelavans och utmatningskvalitet var de huvudsakliga variblerna till att lärosätena inkluderar Excel i utbildningen. Uppsatsen bidrar med kunskap om vad som kan vara avgörande för om lärosäten väljer att införa ett tekniskt hjälpmedel eller inte.
The primary goal of accounting havealways been the same, to create and provide information to internal and external decision makers. The accounting profession have undergone change due to digitalization. Therefore it is of utmost importance to follow thedevelopmentof technological tools.Studies have shown that the most demanded qualities in an employee is Excel knowledge after experience. Previous studies have shown that newly graduated students donot meet the employers demand. The purpose of this study is to map what swedish universities do to cater for the Swedish labour market regarding digitalization in general and Excel specifically. In order to achieve the purpose 72 syllabuses in accounting courses were examined at 22 different universities. This was followed by interviews with 10 course coordinators at 10 different universities with questions formulated from Technology Acceptance Model 2. This essay had a qualitative approach in general with quantitative elements. Results show that Excel was mentioned in 1 of the 72 syllabuses examined but used in 6 of the 10 interviewed universities. Further resultspointed that labour markets demands, job relevance and output quality werethe main variables affecting Excel involvement at target universities. This essay contributes with knowledgeon what is decisive for universities when it comes to adopting technological tools or not.

Denna systematiska litteraturstudie syftar till att undersöka hur och med vilken effekt Excel implementeras i matematikundervisning, främst statistikundervisning, i gymnasieskolan eller motsvarande skolnivå internationellt. Studien identifierar Excelimplementeringen i ersättande, förstärkande och/eller transformerande syfte, och identifierar vidare vilka lärar- och eleverfarenheter, positiva och negativa, som synliggörs i förhållande till de tre typerna av Excelanvändning. Databaserna UniSearch, ERIC och Taylor & Francis Online användes för att hitta forskningslitteratur för studien. Artiklar till studien valdes ut efter vissa urvalskriterier. Artiklarna sammanfattades och analyserades sedan genom att identifiera Excelimplementeringen som ersättande, förstärkande och/eller transformerande samt lärar- och eleverfarenheter i samband med olika typer av implementering. Resultatet visar att Excel i statistikundervisningen upplevs övervägande positiv och kan främja elevers kunskap och engagemang. Vidare visar resultatet att Excel som förstärkande verktyg förknippas med flest positiva lärar- och eleverfarenheter.
The aim of this study is to examine by which means and the effect on student learning of using Excel in mathematical statistics education within the ages of 14 to 19. The study identifies three different ways that Excel is used in the classroom which are; replacing, enhancing or transforming use of Excel. Furthermore, the study examines positive and negative, teacher and students’ experiences in relation to the way Excel is used in the classroom. To obtain data for the study the authors used three databases; UniSearch, ERIC and Taylor & Francis Online, along with manual searching. The obtained articles were compared to certain criteria that needed to be fulfilled in order for the article to be used. The articles were then analyzed with a set goal to identify Excel used as replacement, enhancing or transforming tool. The results show that using Excel in statistical mathematical education satisfy both student learning as well as effort, where the most often used method was enhancing use of Excel which is also the type of usage that we promote. It has also come to the authors attention that Excel is looked upon in a positive manner by both students and teachers.

I de fallen där det är möjligt använder gärna byggnadsingenjören sig av standardlösningar med materialval och dimensioner som garanterar specifika U-värden. Standardlösningarna måste dock ibland frångås, vid exempelvis specifika krav på tjocklekar eller material som inte finns som standardlösning hos leverantörerna. Byggnadsingenjörens uppgift blir då tidskrävande gällande beräkningar av U-värden, där många iterativa beräkningar krävs, och att överföra konstruktionen till en 3D-modell. En rationalisering av detta arbetsflöde kan åstadkommas med hjälp av programmering. I denna studie skapas ett datorprogram i Visual Basic för Excel, som gör U-värdeberäkningar på olika väggkonstruktioner med trästomme. Även ett script i insticksprogrammet Dynamo skapas för att överföra den beräknade väggkonstruktionen till BIM-programmet Revit. Resultatet blev ett program som beräknar U-värdet, som även innehåller kontroller som hindrar användaren att ange felaktigt indata. Beräkningen med detta program ger en definitiv effektivisering i tid gentemot handberäkningar. Dock kan det ta tid att skriva ett sådant program för ovana, men med tidigare kännedom om programmering kan detta avhjälpas. Att ta sig an och lära sig Dynamo, hur det fungerar och var man hittar rätt funktioner var detta arbetes främsta svårighet. Dynamo bjuder på branta inlärningströsklar och ingen tidigare forskning som berörde det som gjordes i detta arbete. Ett fungerande script lyckades tillslut skapas, men mycket av det svåra arbetet skulle ha underlättats om tidigare kännedom om programmering funnits. Det kan således vara fördelaktigt för byggnadsingenjören som vill arbeta med Dynamo att lära sig programmering i deras utbildning.

Denna kvantitativa enkätundersökning avser att kartlägga matematiklärares vanor och erfarenheter av att använda Excel i den gymnasiala statistikundervisningen. Studien tar sin grund i Hughes, Thomas och Scharbers teoretiska ramverk The RAT Framework som beskriver hur digitala verktyg kan användas i undervisningen med en ersättande, förstärkande och transformerande funktion. Studien ämnar undersöka hur lärares användning av Excel utifrån de tre begreppen kan sättas i relation till relevanta attribut. Undersökningen utfördes med en digital enkät som skickades ut till verksamma gymnasiematematiklärare i Östergötland. Urvalspopulationen nåddes genom ett bekvämlighetsurval. Enkätsvarens slutna frågor analyseras därefter genom univariat och bivariat analys, och de öppna frågorna genom en innehållsanalys. Resultatet av undersökningen visar att 79,2 % av de medverkande lärarna använder Excel i statistikundervisningen, där en förstärkande användning av undervisningen är vanligast. Lärare uppger i undersökningen att det finns ett behov av kompetensutbildning och insatser från skolledning för att framgångsrikt kunna bedriva statistikundervisning med Excel. Slutligen fastställer studien att användning av Excel i statistikundervisningen ökar elevernas engagemang och attityd såväl som kunskapsnivå.
The aim of this quantitative survey is to explore and map the habits and experiences of mathematical teachers’ use of Excel in high schools in Sweden. The research is based on Hughes’s, Thomas’s and Scharber’s report “The RAT Framework”, which explains how Excel can be used within mathematical education as a replacing, amplifying and transforming tool. The study aims at determining what teacher characteristics can be associated with the three different uses of Excel. The digital survey was distributed to in service mathematical teachers of the Swedish county Östergötland. The sample population was reached through convenience selection. They survey's closed questions are analyzed by univariate and bivariate method whilst the open questions are analyzed through content analysis. The research results show that 79,2% of the participating in service mathematical teachers are using Excel where the most common type of use is the amplifying use of Excel. Teachers express a need of further education, as well as efforts from the school board, to successfully maintain and develop education with Excel. Finally, the report concludes that the use of Excel in statistical education enhances the commitment, attitude and knowledge of the students.

This thesis proposes an implementation of an improved algorithm for solving nonlinear separable integer programming problems, as they arise in the field of system reliability. The reliability redundancy optimization solver (RROS) improves on a hybrid technique of dynamic programming with depth first search with tighter variable bounds. The implementation takes the form of an Excel add-in, which will be familiar to users with little formal OR/MS training. The user interface design is discussed. Example applications with benchmarks show that the RROS offers accurate solutions in a comparatively efficient way. This thesis further introduces a surrogate method to solve nonlinear problems with non-separable objectives, where a separable constraint is used as a surrogate objective. This is shown to yield solutions to a number of difficult cases.

In that work was realized a short analysis of challenges of Maths' education in the High School, in special probability and statistics, that refer to adequation of new technologys availables, distinguishing the difficults found to insert computationals resources in the classroom's every day. We emphasize the using electronics spreadsheets, in that case, Excel like a tool good to learn probability and statistic, searching to balance work's teacher to objectives presents in the Nationals Curriculums Parameters (NCP) and in the new National Common Base Curricular (NCBC), which is in the final process of elaboration. By a research with IFG's teachers, we notice that, although having access to informatics laboratories adequated to education, almost teachers do not use them. Before this situation noticed, we propose some simple activities created with the objective to connective theory from didatics books with the use of electronics spreadsheets, trying to contribute for critical formation of students.
Nesse trabalho foi realizada uma breve análise dos desafios do ensino da matemática no Ensino Médio, em especial da probabilidade e estatística, no que se refere à adequação às novas tecnologias disponíveis, salientando as dificuldades encontradas ao inserir recursos computacionais no cotidiano da sala de aula. Enfatizamos a utilização de planilhas eletrônicas, nesse caso do Excel, como uma ferramenta benéfica ao ensino de probabilidade e estatística na busca de adequar o trabalho docente aos objetivos propostos nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN's) e na nova Base Nacional Curricular Comum (BNCC), que se encontra em fase final de elaboração. Através de um questionário aplicado junto a professores do IFG, constatamos que, mesmo tendo acesso a laboratórios de informática adequados ao ensino, a maioria dos professores não faz uso dos mesmos. Diante da situação vivenciada propomos algumas atividades simples, elaboradas com o objetivo de aliar a teoria estudada nos livros didáticos e a utilização de planilhas eletrônicas, procurando assim contribuir para uma formação crítica dos alunos.

Abstract:
This study addressed a gap in local practice where the IMPACT! and EXCEL programs for gifted students only received anecdotal evaluation. Despite the existence of established standards, programming for gifted students rarely undergoes rigorous evaluation at the local, state, or national levels. The research project consisted of a summative goal-based evaluation that reported the degree to which the school district's programming met national standards and to identify strengths and weaknesses. The researcher conducted qualitative inquiry of an intrinsic case study to evaluate the programming at a single school district under the theoretical frameworks of pragmatism, differentiated instruction, and self-efficacy. Educators answered a census style survey reporting categorical ratings on each element of the gifted standards with additional explanatory comments on open ended questions. The mode response of the categorical ratings was reported and open ended answers were analyzed using a hybrid coding method. Results showed strength in curriculum and instruction, program design, and identification items with most of these in place in the district. The affective needs and professional development categories had lower scores, with educators citing a lack of social emotional and pedagogical training specific to gifted students. The project was an evaluation report with an action plan devised to improve professional development offerings, increase educator's abilities to address social emotional learning. Historically, programming for gifted students has been considered uninspiring and ineffective and is rarely systematically evaluated and improved. Thus, the project promotes social change by reversing this gap in practice and has potential to benefit the upcoming generation of gifted learners and the local community.

Abstract:
This master thesis aimed to create a syntax support add-in for writing business rules in Excel. More specifically the goal was to support business rules written according to the Semantics of Business Rules and Vocabulary standard. The add-in developed aimed to support the writing of the rules by providing syntax highlighting, content assist and validation. The implementation gave rise to many interesting challenges. This was partly because Excel had to be altered in order to function as a syntax support tool, by having dynamic input and feedback. The implementation also included parsing structured natural language. The final phase of the thesis work was to evaluate the end product. The evaluation of the efficiency, usability and correctness of the tool showed that the aim of the thesis was reached. The evaluation also showed that there is potential future work that could further improve the add-in.

O estudo termo-hidráulico, utilizado para análise de acidentes e transientes em reatores nucleares, é feito com o uso de algumas ferramentas computacionais sofisticadas. Esses programas utilizam uma filosofia realista (best estimate) para análise de acidentes e transientes em reatores refrigerados à água leve do tipo PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor) e sistemas associados. O código RELAP5, objeto de nosso estudo, tem sido usado como uma ferramenta para o licenciamento de instalações nucleares no nosso país. Uma das maiores dificuldades na simulação de acidentes e transientes em uma instalação nuclear com o código RELAP5 é a quantidade de informações necessárias, que na maioria dos casos é muito grande. Além disso, existe a necessidade de uma quantidade razoável de operações matemáticas para os cálculos da geometria dos componentes. Portanto, a fim de facilitar a manipulação destas informações, percebeu-se a necessidade do desenvolvimento de um pré-processador amigável com o usuário, para realização desses cálculos e para elaboração dos dados de entrada do RELAP5. A ferramenta escolhida foi o MS-EXCEL, que apresentou grande potencialidade no desenvolvimento do pré-processador desejado.
Computational program are used for thermal hydraulic analysis of accidents and transients conditions in nuclear power plants. The RELAP5 code has been developed to simulate accidents and transients conditions, performing a best estimate analysis, in Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and auxiliary systems. The RELAP5 code, which has been used as a tool for licensing nuclear facilities in Brazil, is the objective of the study performed in this work. The main problem in using the RELAP5 code is the huge amount of information necessary to model the nuclear reactor and thus to simulate thermal-hydraulic accidents. Moreover, the RELAP5 code input data requires a large amount of mathematical operations to calculate the geometry of the plant components. Therefore, in order to make easier the data input for the RELAP5 code a friendly preprocessor has been developed. The preprocessor accepts basic information about the geometry of the plant components and performs all the calculations needed for the RELAP5 input. This preprocessor has been developed based on the MS-EXCEL software.
