Abstract Materials selection for oil and gas fields is challenged by the dual requirements of ensuring well integrity and affordability. This can be a demanding task for any field, but is particularly problematic for reservoirs with relatively high temperature, pressure and produced water salinity. Over the last decade, there have been advances in the assessment of environment aggressiveness (including pH and the quantity of H2S present) and from continued assurance of material performance (gained from multiple qualifications, routine validations and deep technical relationships with one or mo

Abstract In seawater handling systems, the available well tubing materials are Glass Reinforced Epoxy lined low alloy steel or Corrosion Resistant Alloy’s (CRA) such as super duplex stainless steel. However, in treated seawater the corrosion risk can be controlled so that lower grade alloys can be considered. Recent efforts have focused attention on better dissolved oxygen controls which permits the investigation and possible use of more cost effective materials such as the duplex stainless steel UNS S82551. Abstract In many service applications excursions in solution chemistry, temporary loss of inhibitor, or transient increases in temperature may give rise to localised corrosion in an otherwise inhibited system. It is important to demonstrate that inhibition will be effective in retarding propagation of localised corrosion when normal conditions, appropriate to prevention of general corrosion, are restored. To test this requirement, the use of a ‘pencil’ type of artificial pit has been investigated using simple simulations of a cooling water and of an oil production formation water. The results

Abstract Many systems can be converted and used for different applications not initially planned. This is the case for production wells, sometimes converted into water injection wells and for which the production tubing material selection is clearly not adapted for prolonged contact with natural seawater. Oxygen removal treatment must be applied but precise control is not obvious and excursions above zero or close-to-zero oxygen can occur. The production tubing material S13%Cr are known to be sensitive to dissolved oxygen excursions in seawater, but data from the literature cannot precisely he

Abstract Embrittlement or hydriding of titanium and superferritic stainless steel steam surface condenser tubing can occur when solubility limits of nascent hydrogen are exceeded. The results of such an excursion can, in the case of titanium, induce the formation of brittle hydrides or, in the case of superferritic stainless steels, which typically do not form stable hydrides, result in reduced ductility and subsequent fracture attack. In either case, both corrosion events can ultimately lead to a loss of structural integrity of the material. Additional contributing factors may include elevate

Abstract Industrial and marine protective coating systems are most commonly applied without incident, and perform as expected over their anticipated service life. However, occasionally, a coating system will fail prematurely, for unexpected reasons, and with expensive consequences. This paper addresses those unexpected failures, and provides reasons and remedies for such occurrences. The paper addresses in brief the following topics: Coating deficiencies attributed to: Coating manufacturingSpecificationsSurface preparation and applicationService environment excursions Additionally, normal envi

Abstract:
Boracay Island, Malay, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines. Over the years, its sustained growth as a top tourist destination has been substantially supported by the Island’s informal tourism sector, which is primarily women-dominated. While both men and women provide tourism products and services, differences are observed in their occupational choices and the options made available to them. For this reason, concerns about the sustainability of tourism development vis-à-vis gender inclusivity have been raised. To bridge this gap, this study investigated the invol
