Abstract:
The increased awareness of benefiting from exercising stimulates the demand for fitness training professionals’ expertise. Fitness professionals (FTPs) serve clients in one-to-one personal training or group training in commercial fitness centers. Even though uncertain certification quality and paths to become a certified FTP could affect exercise program development and instruction, little is available on fitness profession expertise in prescribing and teaching exercise programs to members in commercial fitness centers. It is not entirely clear to the public what knowledge and skills apply to FTPs in conducting safe and practical exercises. This study responds to the increasing growth of people with young career experience and doubtful technical knowledge in Malaysia. This study plans to employ semi-structured interviews to examine how decisions are made with the fitness profession’s knowledge and skills. With the lens of the Cognitive Continuum Theory, this research will recognize FTPs’ decision-making processes lacking in the business and fitness literature. This study will generate a practical framework for the fitness profession, the public, and fitness operators to understand the importance of judgment and competencies in prescribing exercise programs.

Abstract:
Fitness training professionals (FTPs) are widely in demand by both commercial fitness centers and individual people. In commercial fitness centers, they serve their clientele in one-to-one personal training sessions and group settings. Despite the widespread reach and demand of these professionals, there is no standardized path to enter Malaysia's fitness industry. The resulting inconsistency of services rendered creates among the biggest concerns for their customers. It is not clear to the public what knowledge and skills are applied when FTPs conduct safe and correct exercises. Furthermore, there is a lack of an integrative framework for studying strategic decisions made in the professional fitness industry. Therefore, this study's main objective is to examine the decision-making processes of FTPs used in curating exercise programs with the use of the Cognitive Continuum Theory (CCT) and the Strategic Decision-Making Model (SDMM). This study attempts to contribute a new framework to study FTPs' decision-making processes. Additionally, this framework may help FTPs promote and justify injury-free physical activity for fitness enthusiasts and the general public.

Abstract:
Employing a variety of theoretical approaches, feminist researchers have critiqued the fitness industry of its singular emphasis on the impossible, narrowly defined feminine body ideal that is likely to cause more mental (e.g., body dissatisfaction) and physical ill health (eating disorders, injuries) than improve fitness. With the focus on social construction of gendered identities, there has been less problematisation of the materiality of the fitness practices and their impact on the cultural production of the moving body. In this article, I adopt a Latourian approach to seek for a more complete account of the body in motion and how it matters in the contemporary world. A barre class as a popular group exercise class that combines ballet and exercise modalities offers a location for such an examination due to the centrality of a non-human object, the barre, that distinguishes it from other group exercise classes. I consider how exercise practices may be constituted in relation to a material object, the barre, and how the physical and material intersect, historically, with the cultural politics of fitness and dance from where the barre originates. To do this, I trace the journey of the barre from ballet training to the fitness industry to illustrate how human and non-human associations create a hybrid collective.

Abstract:
In line with the law of attraction, physical attractiveness has been widely used in marketing as well as advertising due to its potency in persuading consumers to take action. However, would physical attractiveness of a fitness trainer influence gym goers’ intention to exercise? This question motivated this research. Based on recent literature reviews, several research constructs were identified to form a research framework to investigate the physical attractiveness phenomena in the fitness industry. Hypothetically, the impact of the physical attractiveness of a fitness trainer on gym goers’ exercise intention is postulated to be mediated by trainer’s perceived expertise, trustworthiness, likeability and perceived health. Questionnaires were administered among gym-goers from 10 randomly selected fitness centres across three districts of Melaka State in Malaysia, and 192 final sample data were obtained. Data analysis reveals fitness trainer’s perceived expertise and likeability significantly mediates the relationship between the physical attractiveness of fitness trainers and gym goers’ exercise intention. Physical attractiveness of fitness trainers does impact the exercise intention of gym goers indirectly. Implications of the findings to theory and practice are also discussed in this paper, as well as suggestions for future studies.

Abstract:
The contemporary United States fitness industry, in conjunction with the medical endorsement of exercise and the marketing of lifestyle consumption, has made possible the emergence and rapid growth of health and fitness services. This paper brings together the sociological fields of work, consumption, and physical culture, suggesting how the structure and organization of personal training impacts upon how fitness is sold. Drawing from interviews with personal trainers, the occupation is discussed as a combination of frontline service work, emotional labor, and flexible work strategies, resulting in a variety of job roles: the representation of the fitness club, the brokering of clients’ consumer relationships with the fitness industry, the motivation of clients through service relationships, and the entrepreneurial cultivation of a client base and semi-professional authority.

Abstract:
Gym-goers often socially compare themselves with their trainers as they strive to look as attractive as their fitness trainers. The aim of this study was to better understand this phenomenon in the fitness industry. Relying on social comparison theory and social identity theory, self-identification with a physically attractive fitness trainer was posited to have a strong mediating effect on the relationship between appearance motive, weight management motive and gym-goers’ intention to exercise. The moderation effects of gym-goers’ age and gender in the direct relationships between appearance motive, weight management motive and exercise intention were also examined. The primary outcome of this study revealed that gym-goers who were influenced by appearance and weight management motives are more likely to identify with physically attractive fitness trainers. Additionally, gender significantly moderates the relationships between appearance motive, weight management motive and exercise intention. Appearance and weight management motives are the primary factors that influence the exercise intention of female gym-goers as compared to their male counterparts. This study sheds new insights into understanding the influence of the physical attractiveness of fitness trainers and its impact on gym-goers’ exercise intentions via self and social identification process.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper was to better understand the underrepresentation of Muslim women living in Australia in physical activity and in group-fitness classes in particular. The authors contend that the Australian fitness industry has ignored the needs of this group through stereotypical islamophobic views focusing on religious dictates as the prime barrier for participation of this group. This study debunks this myth showing that motivations for exercise are complex and multi-faceted. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted interviews and a focus group with 27 Muslim women living in Australia. Through this method, the authors explored the role of religiosity and national culture in attitudes towards participation in exercise, gym attendance and group fitness classes. Findings The authors confirmed that while religion impacted the form and place of exercise options, it did not impact the overall motivation to engage in exercise. This study found that group-fitness classes offered by gyms did not particularly appeal to this group of women, partially due to their religion (this form of exercise being too aggressive and immodest) and partially due to their ethnic background. Exercise options that were more social were favoured. The authors found that notions of femininity and culturally embedded expectations for the role of women were more powerful predictors of exercise engagement and choice of exercise type. Research limitations/implications This research is exploratory in nature and as such its findings are restricted to the small sample. To extend this study’s implications, a larger empirical study should be conducted and needs to also consider the intersection between national culture and religiosity on decision-making. Practical implications This study has practical implications for the fitness industry attempting to attractive new markets in a multi-cultural population. To attract Muslim women, gyms and fitness centres need to consider providing appropriate areas for women to exercise that allow them to maintain their modesty. To attract this segment, fitness products that are focused on a holistic approach to wellness and highlight opportunities for social interaction should be developed. Focusing on this group as a market segment needs to include a broader contextualisation of their lifestyles and individual situations and should not just focus on their religion. Social implications The requirements of the Muslim religion for women to adopt conservative dress and to avoid contact with men do hinder their ability and also their desire to exercise to maintain a healthy mind and body. Many of these women would like to exercise but find it difficult to find the right settings and form of exercise that suits their needs. Engaging in exercise with others is also an important way for these women to integrate into their communities and to assimilate with the national culture. Originality/value This research is original in that it is one of the first to explore attitudes of Muslim women towards exercise and group-fitness classes in Australia. In particular, it includes an examination of the impact of religiosity on motivations and attitudes towards fitness and is the first to consider the relationship between religion, ethnic background and notions of femininity in the context of fitness. The influence of religiosity is an area heavily impacted by cultural bias and stereotyping, and it is therefore important for a deeper understanding of this issue in the services domain.

Abstract:
The preparedness of community facilities offering exercise programs to older adults is unknown. On-site evaluations were conducted by trained professionals to assess compliance of community older adult exercise programs with fitness-industry standards. Fourteen facilities were evaluated whose clientele (N = 2,172) were predominantly White (98%) women (87%) over 75 years of age (66%). Few of the 14 facilities required exercise participants to complete preactivity health questionnaires (n = 5), 3 administered informed consents, and none adhered to a medical-clearance policy. Only 2 facilities had defined emergency policies, and none conducted emergency drills. One site conducted exercise programs with instructors trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Professionally certified exercise instructors leading all exercise programs were observed in 1 facility. Most facilities evaluated were noncompliant with existing professional health and fitness standards. The practicality of imposing such standards on community exercise programs for older adult requires further examination.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to document and explore the perceptual motivations for voluntary and continued affiliation with a fitness industry register by its affiliates (“members”) and non-affiliates (“non-members”). The formation of fitness industry registers to impart self-regulation is a common global occurrence. Their sustainment, however, is reliant on the motivations and voluntary support of industry members. Limited work has been done in this area. Design/methodology/approach This qualitative study uses the interpretive research paradigm, involving semi-structured interviews with 12 Auckland, New Zealand, fitness centre managers, industry associations, New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals (Reps NZ) and Fitness New Zealand. Lenox’s (2006) participation-contingent benefits framework provides the necessary lens to explore the perceptual motivations behind participation/non-participation by fitness centres with an industry self-regulatory system (i.e. Reps NZ). Findings Whereas participation-contingent benefits are perceived minimal, and exceeded by affiliation limitations, there is institutional congruence for industry regulation to exist, thus creating institutional pressures that encourage affiliation and retention. Whereas affiliates choose to absorb the associated inconveniences of affiliation to “support” Reps NZ, non-affiliates question the register’s regulatory form, choosing to avoid the affiliation costs and limitations. Originality/value This study lends further support that institutional development is crucial for inclusive, substantive and sustainable self-regulatory systems. Regardless of the perceived low return on participation-contingent benefits, industry self-regulation can be sustained if there is a desire by industry members to maintain the institutional notion that the regulation needs to exist.

Abstract:
In recent years, the social economy has achieved remarkable development, and the income of residents has increased substantially. With the increasing income, residents begin to pursue a high quality of life, and the ways of entertainment also begin to become diversified. In this context, leisure sports have gradually come into the public’s view, and more and more people have started to participate in leisure sports. Aerobic gymnastics, as a popular form of fitness, is an important carrier to carry out national fitness sports and promote national health, and the development of national fitness sports cannot be carried out without scientific and effective aerobic gymnastics teaching, training, and guidance. At the present stage, the traditional aerobics teaching content and teaching methods of leisure sports majors are difficult to meet the needs of students learning. Therefore, the hybrid teaching system of aerobics classes based on cloud computing and neural networks is proposed, which combines the advantages of a network teaching and traditional teaching to comprehensively and effectively improve the efficiency and quality of aerobics teaching and improve the classroom teaching effect. At the same time, it promotes leisure sports students to systematically master the basic theoretical knowledge, skills, and methods, improve the comprehensive ability of independent learning and inquiry learning, have the ability of leisure sports program guidance and aerobics teaching organization, enhance their employability, and cultivate “multidiscipline” students who can adapt to the needs of the times and engage in technical guidance of aerobics and participate in leisure sports market services in leisure fitness clubs, industry associations, and educational institutions. This course aims to cultivate “multidiscipline” applied talents who can work in leisure and fitness clubs, industry associations, and educational institutions.

Abstract:
The fitness industry is rapidly developing due to the demand for fitness activities, and a large number of commercial fitness spaces have emerged in Changchun city. The distribution of commercial fitness spaces in the city is not chaotic; different types of fitness spaces should have different spaces to choose from. The purpose of this article is to summarize the spatial distribution characteristics and laws of urban commercial fitness spaces, to help better develop commercial fitness spaces. Using Changchun (a central city in northeastern China) as an example, the article divides commercial fitness spaces into five categories. Then, GIS tools are used to analyze the distribution patterns, level distributions, and agglomeration characteristics of commercial fitness spaces. The city’s commercial fitness space distribution patterns are subjected to further study, along with the influencing factors and forming mechanisms of the pattern. Moreover, based on the research results, this study provides targeted suggestions for the development of fitness spaces. The study found that the commercial fitness space in Changchun city has formed a multi-core spatial pattern. Various types of fitness spaces show significant spatial differentiation in many aspects, such as “center-periphery” characteristics, the spatial distribution form, and the specialized characteristics of each block unit. Fitness needs, national policies, transportation accessibility, spatial agglomeration, land rent, urban population distribution, etc., are the main factors affecting the spatial distributions of fitness spaces.

Abstract:
Abstract COVID-19 rendered the availability of exercise facilities sporadic and online exercise programs subsequently became more common. This research explored online exercise classes delivered to older adults during the pandemic from the perspective of service providers. Sixty-seven service providers completed the survey (88% female). The majority (54%) of respondents had worked in the fitness industry for greater than 10 years, and 66% were fitness class instructors, while fewer were managers (9%) and personal trainers (8%). Three participants had experience providing online exercise classes prior to the pandemic, while 43 more had experience providing online exercise classes since the pandemic began. Of these 46 service providers, 87% offered classes live through Zoom. The majority (64%) offered classes through an organization, and 61% charged a fee for participants to take part. The most common type of class was a general fitness class (63%), followed by yoga and flexibility classes (39%), and strength training (17%). Regarding equipment used, weights were most frequently required (69%), followed by resistance bands (49%) and mats (44%). Most classes lasted 40–60 minutes (59%) and were low intensity (74%). Of the 21 respondents who did not provide online exercise classes, 43% indicated this was because of a lack of interest, and 19% cited not knowing how to use technology to deliver classes online, though most (71%) indicated they would consider offering online classes in the future. This research reveals the adaptability of service providers and may serve to inform the continued development of online exercise programs for older adults.

Abstract:
The exercise volume and exercise level can be quantitatively assessed by measuring and collecting athletes’ health and exercise data. The protection of athletes’ health information has lately become an important research topic due to a rise in sports activities. However, due to the nature of the data and the limits of protection models, protecting athlete health data is a complex undertaking. Machine learning and blockchain have caused worldwide technological innovation, and it is bound to bring deep modifications to the sports industry. The main purpose of blockchain is security, decentralization, traceability, and credibility of the athlete’s health data protection and gathering system. To progress and increase the sports industry and methodically assess the physical fitness of sportspersons’ health information, this study concentrates on the Machine Learning and Blockchain-based Athlete Health Information Protection System (MLB-AHIPS) proposed in the sports industry. The ML technique is utilized to clean and handle the information to comprehend the recognition and secure managing of the sportsperson’s fitness information. The system uses attribute-based access control, which permits dynamic and fine-grained access to athlete health data, and then stores the health data in the blockchain, which can be secured and tamper-proof by expressing the respective smart contracts. The simulation outcomes illustrate that the suggested MLB-AHIPS attains a high accuracy ratio of 97.8%, security ratio of 98.3%, an efficiency ratio of 97.1%, scalability ratio of 98.9%, and data access rate of 97.2% compared to other existing approach.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has recently been introduced as a new way of analyzing and predicting sport consumer behavior. The goal of this study was to investigate the relationships among the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, the importance of exercise, attitudes towards use, and the behavioral intention to use AI services based on the technology adoption model. The authors recruited 408 participants who participated in an experiment designed to provide a deeper understanding of AI fitness services. After screening, the collected data were screened through assumption tests, and we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling to analyze research hypotheses. The results indicated that three types of consumer evaluations (i.e., perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and importance of exercise) positively influence their attitudes toward AI fitness services. In addition, the positive attitudes regarding AI services positively influenced the intention to use AI services. The results of this research contribute to our knowledge of the consumers’ attitudes and behaviors toward AI services in the sport industry based on the technology acceptance model. Furthermore, this study provided the empirical evidence critically needed to increase our understanding of AI in the sport industry and offered new insights into how sport facility managers can predict their consumers’ intention to use AI services.

Abstract:
The purpose of our questionnaire is the uncovering of prerequisites for recognizing fitness as a format of mass physical education. Materials and methods. We questioned 100 respondents ranging in age from 20 to 60, with work experience from 1 to 40 years, more than 60% of the respondents have work experience from 5 to 20 years, and different specialization of work with population (aerobic, strength, competitive, oriental, water kinds of physical activity). The results were processed with statistical distribution-free methods (х²). When the number of testees exceeded 100 (n=100), we used the method of Kolmogorov-Smirnov under normal distribution of selection. Results. In accordance with the demand, aerobics and strength training occupy the 1st place, 30% and 40%, respectively. At the 2nd place, we have trouble zones exercises for women, swimming and water aerobics – 30% and 28%, respectively. At the 3rd place – sports and outdoor games, stretching – 18% and 13%, respectively. The other forms received less than 8%. The forms presented were evaluated in points, all the points were summed. In general, the demand is estimated to be 1.99±1.31 points out of 12 possible, indicating the specialization in working with the population through the use of fitness technologies, based on 3-4 types of physical activity. Conclusions. We think that the development of mass sport, sport for everybody, fitness as a means of health improvement is a prerogative of the Government via local authorities, sport organizations, institutions at this level, and, of course, the population. In our opinion, fitness in Belarus functions independently but unsystematically, it develops unilaterally – it is self-organized in the process and in the use of fitness technologies only. The work on intentional development of and managing this form of mass physical education within the system is necessary.

Abstract:
The interactive mechanism among platform operators, content producers, and information receivers is increasingly complex in human–computer symbiosis. The purpose of this study is to identify the interactive value among platform operators, content producers, and information receivers with regard to information through the health and fitness apps by adopting an advanced Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method derived from professional perspectives of app users and operators, key opinion leaders, scholars, and officers. The AHP method was allocated weightings to the evaluation criteria from the twelve panelists from three groups of platform operators, content producers, and information receivers. After focus group interviews were conducted, four dimensions and twelve sub-dimensions of the initial health and fitness apps were obtained as follows: Content category: Monitoring, exercise, journaling, and sleeping; (2) User reviews: Fuctionality, interactivity, and criticism; (3) Content updates: New feature, correctness, and new language; (4) Platform terms: Privacy, accuracy, ownership, and right of use. The study integrated the panelists’ opinions toward health and fitness apps and analyzed the weight of each indicator according to their importance by Power Choice V2.5. The results revealed that the weights of dimensions of health and fitness apps were sorted by content category, user review, platform terms, and content update, as well as that the weights of the top six sub-dimensions were followed: monitoring, exercise, functionality, interactivity, privacy, and accuracy. Content producers suggested increasing the popularity of their products by adding new features, whereas information receivers preferred to correct problems. Content producers and information receivers graded platform terms as less essential, whereas platform operators rated platform terms higher. This study can contribute to assisting the health and fitness industry and the overall strategic operative process by identifying how the effectiveness in the procedures, estimative process, and cost-down can enhance competitiveness to further improve users experience and satisfaction.

Learning outcomes By reading and understanding the case study, Students will be able to link the importance of healthy life style and the physical exercise to the fitness industry in the UAE society, to reduce the growing percentage of obesity and related diseases; identify the main challenges of Tone Fitness Ladies’ Studio (Tone); explore the market segmentation of fitness centers in UAE based on a benefits segmentation of fitness industry; identify the demographic segmentation of Tone Fitness studio and the effects of considering gender and age; and develop individual perspectives of how Tone Fitness ladies’ studio may overcome the challenges to compete in the UAE fitness market. Case overview/synopsis Three sisters from the United Arab Emirates (Hind, Mariam and Amna Mohamed Omer) have established a fitness studio for women in Al Maqta’a (formerly known as Bain al Jasrain) on the eastern side of Abu Dhabi. Each of them shared a passion for sport, which led them to realize their business idea of setting up a fitness studio specifically for women. An understanding of Emirati culture and the needs of women in their society inspired them to think of a special place where women could find relief from work and life demands while also exercising pursuant of a healthy lifestyle. They launched Tone Ladies’ Fitness Studio (Tone) in September 2014, the first fitness studio for women in Al Maqta’a. The studio is in the same building as a cooperative hypermarket – a very good location because it is visited by many people and has ample parking spaces. Partly due to growing interest among Abu Dhabi residents in fitness and health, new fitness studios opened nearby in 2016, with competitors offering excellent services at reasonable prices. While the demand for fitness and healthy lifestyle pursuits is high in the region, the market has also expanded greatly to meet this demand, with many high-quality options becoming available. As a result of this, businesses such as Tone are facing serious threats to their sustainability. Thus, first, how can the Omer sisters sustain their business and strategize to maintain customers in their market segment? Second, what could they do to improve the market position of Tone in the UAE fitness market? Abstract:
The purpose of the current study was to investigate the structural relationship between the servicescape, the emotional experience, space flow, satisfaction, and consumer loyalty in the context of sport fitness centers. Furthermore, the present study aimed to examine the moderating role of knowledge acquisition motivation in the effect of the servicescape on the emotional experience and space flow. For these research purposes, a survey study targeting 400 consumers of sport fitness centers was conducted via online and offline survey platforms in South Korea. After deleting 16 incomplete cases, 384 cases were included in the final data analysis. The results of latent moderated equations modeling (LMS) showed that the servicescape directly enhances the emotional experience and space flow. Also, it indirectly affects consumer loyalty via the emotional experience, space flow, and consumer satisfaction. Meanwhile, knowledge acquisition motivation was found to moderate the effect of the servicescape on space flow. The present study has several theoretical implications. First, the current study illuminates the process mechanism of the effect of the servicescape in sport fitness centers on consumer loyalty. Second, the present study empirically shows different patterns of consumer experiences and decision-making depending on consumption motivation. Based on the results, sport fitness center managers should not only pay more attention to the convenience of their servicescape but they should also design service environments maximizing consumers′ emotional experiences. Additionally, the results imply that assigning exercise beginners to an attractive physical environment is an effective strategy, because they are more likely to evaluate their experiences based on the perceived servicescape.

Abstract:
The UK population is growing, ageing and becoming increasingly inactive and unfit. Personalised and targeted exercise interventions are beneficial for ageing and the management of chronic and complex conditions. Increasing the uptake of effective exercise and physical activity (PA) interventions is vital to support a healthier society and decrease healthcare costs. Current strategies for exercise and PA at a population level mostly involve self-directed exercise pathways, delivered largely via the fitness industry. Even for those who opt-in and manage to achieve the current recommendations regarding minimum PA, this generic ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach often fails to demonstrate meaningful physiological and health benefits. Personalised exercise prescription and appropriate exercise testing, monitoring and progression of interventions for individuals with chronic disease should be provided by appropriately trained and recognised exercise healthcare professionals, educated in the cognate disciplines of exercise science (eg, physiology, biomechanics, motor control, psychology). This workforce has operated for >20 years in the Australian public and private healthcare systems. Accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) are recognised allied health professionals, with demonstrable health and economic benefits. AEPs have knowledge of the risks and benefits of distinct forms of exercise, skills in the personalised prescription and optimal delivery of exercise, and competencies to support sustained PA behavioural change, based on the established scientific evidence. In this charter, we propose a road map for the training, accreditation and promotion of a clinical exercise physiology profession in the UK.

Abstract:
With the improvement of people’s income levels in recent years, people have gradually begun to pay more attention to health, and the number of exercise and fitness people has increased year by year. People are gradually willing to pay for sports and fitness, increase sports consumption, and promote the development of the sports and fitness industry. This article aims to study the deep learning based on the Internet of things to make people aware of the importance of sports. Not loving sports is a major problem that contemporary people need to overcome. This article proposes how to design a motion detection device in sports based on deep learning of the Internet of things. Based on the calculation of the economic volume of the deep learning of the Internet of things and the questionnaire survey method, it can be seen that, in today’s globalization, although everyone knows the importance of sports, they are unwilling to practice it and would rather spend more time on the Internet. The experimental results of this article show that more than 50% of college students are very interested in sports and fitness, but the actual use is less than 30%, which is not optimistic. In social surveys, this number will be even lower, with only 14% of people interested in sports. Big data is like a “double-edged sword.” It not only displays the user’s exercise data in front of everyone through the built-in sensors of the mobile phone, but also manages their physical condition through these. How to use the strengths of sports applications at the same time properly disposing of private information is a part of the next development of sports applications that must be faced.

Abstract:
National fitness has become a national strategy. How to realize the efficient supply of national fitness venues and facilities has become an important factor in the realization of national fitness. In the 21st century, China's urbanization process is accelerating. With the growth of economic level and the restriction of people's leisure distance, a large number of outdoor sports leisure places and facilities need to be built. The demand for venues for national fitness is the institutional incentive for the sports industry policy. The favorable policy has become the institutional guarantee for the development of sports parks. The two support each other and will provide an institutional basis for the development of sports parks. In the case that the national physical quality needs to be improved urgently, the positive energy brought by sports and fitness will have a good effect. Moreover, in a beautiful and pleasant green environment, breathing the negative ion gift of nature, interacting with animals and plants rather than looking at the electronic screen, the body will be exercised and the mood will become cheerful. This paper is of great significance to study the planning and design of the factory reform hall and the sports park.

Abstract:
Australia has approximately 26,000 registered exercise professionals (REP), in comparison with 3,379 accredited practicing dietitians (APD). The REP workforce has the potential to reach more than 10% of the Australian population but there is limited data on their educational background and professional behaviors with regards to nutritional counseling of clients. The purpose of this research was to determine if REPs are working within their scope of practice and if their qualifications align with their practice, specifically as it relates to nutrition advice. Using a cross sectional descriptive study design, a self-administered online survey of REPs was conducted over 5 months. REPs were recruited through electronic and social media using a snowballing technique. The study focused on education, nutrition advice, and sources of information. A total of 286 respondents completed the survey, including 13 with tertiary dietetic qualifications i.e., APDs. The nationally recognized industry Certificate III/IV in Fitness was the most common qualification. The majority of REPs responding (88%) were working outside of their professional scope of practice, offering individual nutrition advice to clients across fitness and medical issues. This was despite 40% of REPs undertaking no further training in nutrition since graduating, and primarily basing advice on use of readily accessible sources of nutrition information. It is recommended the nutrition advice provided to REPs during training be limited to general nonmedical nutrition information in accordance with nationally endorsed evidence based guidelines and that issues pertaining to scope of practice be addressed with onward referral to other health professionals be advocated.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to investigate the effects of the digitalization process on the demand and supply side in the sports world through the advent of mobile apps and online services, such as YouTube, which provide free (or almost) real fitness courses; and second, to investigate how technological innovation is managed in the sports sector. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a survey research approach, this study collected 150 questionnaires from consumers in the North of Italy. Findings Based on a descriptive analysis of the data, the findings show that the digital channel becomes significant at an exponential rate and takes on a leading role in today’s era, especially among young people. However, the results also show that the traditional channel of use of the sports service (gyms/fitness centers) is privileged by consumers under the age of 35, even though there is a weak penetration of innovative tools offered by the innovation technology (mobile app and video tutorials on social networks such as YouTube) in the sports sector. Practical implications The study provides an exhaustive overview of academic literature on technology and innovation management, and provides the contact point between the physical and digital world in the sports sector, and adds a significant scholarly and practical value in the exercise at home perspective of consumers. This research also contributes to the discussion on the competitiveness between the two channels (physical and digital one) in the sports sector, thus giving rise to further research concerning the offer of the type of sports service. Originality/value This study is among the few that connect the technological advancements and management within the sports industry and provides the ground and theoretical basis for the scholar community to further build on.

Abstract:
Strength training exercises are essential for rehabilitation, improving our health as well as in sports. For optimal and safe training, educators and trainers in the industry should comprehend exercise form or technique. Currently, there is a lack of tools measuring in-depth skills of strength training experts. In this study, we investigate how data mining methods can be used to identify novel and useful skill patterns from a binary multiple choice questionnaire test designed to measure the knowledge level of strength training experts. A skill test assessing exercise technique expertise and comprehension was answered by 507 fitness professionals with varying backgrounds. A triangulated approach of clustering and non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) was used to discover skill patterns among participants and patterns in test questions. Four distinct participant subgroups were identified in data with clustering and further question patterns with NMF. The results can be used to, for example, identify missing skills and knowledge in participants and subgroups of participants and form general and personalized or background specific guidelines for future education. In addition, the test can be optimized based on, for example, if some questions can be answered correct even without the required skill or if they seem to be measuring overlapping skills. Finally, this approach can be utilized with other multiple choice test data in future educational research.

Abstract:
Developing the shape of human bodies is both one of the important tasks of the sports industry in each country in the world and the need of each individual, especially women. So, what body image is considered standard? We have researched and initially built a rating scale for each of the basic body standards indicators of women including 7/9 body standards indicators. At the same time, it also developed a standard to evaluate the body image of women's body shape through the ratio between waist measurement and indicators such as standing height, bust measurement, and hips measurement. During this study, we used common methods such as reference methods related to research objectives; expert interviews; anthropometric; Statistical mathematics. The study has developed a scale to evaluate the indicators of body beautiful image for each criterion of ideal body standards. This is the basis for them to be able to calculate the measurements of each fitness criterion to exercise in proportion to their height so that they have an ideal body standard, as well as a source of reference for other athletes, trainers, body image trainers, physical education teachers, or researchers on women's health in Vietnam. From there, it helps the practitioner know the correct rings needed have to work out based on his height. This is the basis for them to be able to calculate the measurements of each fitness criterion to exercise in proportion to their height so that they have an ideal body standard.

Most sows in the European pig industry are kept in confinement, and are restricted in the amount of locomotory exercise they can perform. Any difficulty in carrying out the movements necessary for standing up and lying down, due to a lack of muscular and cardiovascular fitness, can indicate poor welfare for the sow. Also, because a large proportion of piglet mortality is attributable to over-lying by the sow when she lies down or stands up clumsily, there are welfare implications for her litter. The objectives of these studies were to investigate the time taken for sows to lie down in different dry sow housing systems, and to determine any relationships between the time taken and body dimensions of the sow.

Abstract:
Exercise performance and heat stress among workers in paper industry Background and Aim: Heat is a daily component of stress among industrial workers. The World Health Organisation (WHO) sets reference values for the upper limit of tolerance when working in hot and humid conditions at a heart rate (HR) of 110 bpm, irrespective of age and capacity. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of age and exercise performance when working in hot conditions in the paper industry with reference to current limit values. Methods: 187 male employees (age: 36.4 ± 9 yrs, height: 177 ± 6 cm, weight: 82.5 ± 12 kg) from seven paper-producing companies participated in the project. The employees‘ exercise performance was determined by an incremental submaximal cycle-ergometer test measuring heart rate (HR), oxygen uptake (VO2) and power output (P). Maximal values (VO2max, Pmax) were calculated. HR was measured for 8 hours (h) during 817 work shifts approximating to 6000 h. Results: The average HR during 8-hour shifts was 93 ± 11 bpm and was significantly below the WHO limit of 110 bpm. However, when performing specific tasks due to disruptions in the production process some employees showed an elevated HR of up to a maximum of 142 ± 17 bpm for a short time (33.8 ± 22 min) due to working in heat at 55 ± 15 °C wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) and 10–60 % humidity. There was a significant correlation between the age and fitness of the employees and task-specific increases in HR. Conclusions: It can be stated that short-term heat exposure may lead to significant strain exceeding the tolerance limits. On the whole, however, a higher level of performance decreases the overall work-related strain on employees and results in a lower number of HR increases above the limits. Keywords: heart rate – industrial work – oxygen uptake – safety recommendations – environmental conditions

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the elective affinity between sport science and elite football by situating it first, within the wider political economy of football and second, within the dynamics of the market and work situation faced by elite players in the modern game. Design/methodology/approach – The methodology underpinning this paper continues this movement by considering the impact on market and work situation of elite footballers due to wider social structures and the distribution of social power peculiar to the football industry. It is premised on the view that observed events and contingent relations and processes are linked to more enduring social structures and that knowledge must take account of all three. Findings – The resulting impact of sport science on elite football is contradictory, facilitating, on the one hand, the development of football as an aesthetic experience, while on the other hand, threatening to transform the football spectacle into a mundane exercise in the search for increased functional peak performance for its own sake. Research limitations/implications – The value of this paper is that it considers salaries and player power to determine value by exploring the impact on market and work situation of elite footballers set in the context of wider social structures and the distribution of social power peculiar to the football industry. Practical implications – Elite footballers yield immense power over their market situation, which sport science has the potential to enhance and sustain by fine honing peak fitness. The football club’s relative lack of control of the player’s market situation necessitates the appliance of sport science to help maximize control over the player’s work situation. Social implications – The paper demonstrates that sport science develops elite footballers to peak fitness, while also developing footballers as commodities; and this latter aspect if taken too far may potentially transform football into a mundane exercise in the search for increased functional peak performance for its own sake. Originality/value – The paper draws together the relatively neglected analysis of the football labour process with the increasing interventions of sport science to football and sets this within a broader political economy of football.

Abstract:
An industry-government collaborative program was carried out with an aim to promoting the acceptance of fracture mechanics-based fitness-for-service assessment methodology for a service-damaged pressure vessel. A collaborative round robin exercise was carried out to predict the fracture behavior of a vessel containing hydrogen damage, fabrication-related lack-of-fusion defects, an artificially induced fatigue crack, and a localized thinned area. The fracture assessment procedures used include the U.S. ASME Material Property Council’s PREFIS Program based on the British Standard (BS) Published Document (PD) 6493, ASME Section XI and The Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) R6 approach, The Welding Institute (TWI) CRACKWISE program (based on BS PD6493 Level 2 approach), a variant of the R6 approach, J-tearing instability approaches, various J-estimation schemes, LEFM approach, and simplified stress analysis. Assessments were compared with the results obtained from a hydrogen-charged burst test of the vessel. Predictions, based on the J-tearing approach, compared well with the actual burst test results. Actual burst pressure was about five times the operating pressure.

Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is probably one of the oldest diseases known to man. There are two types of diabetes, insulin-dependent or type 1 diabetes mellitus, and insulin-independent or type 2 diabetes mellitus. About 90% of diabetic patients have type 2 DM. The chronic metabolic disorder caused by other factors such as malnutrition, stress, an insufficient level of physical activity and genetics. Diabetes is not a disease of modern times. It was first reported in an Egyptian manuscript about 3000 years ago, but with the development of technology and industry has led to an increasing number of people suffering from the disease. As a result of this trend, it is rapidly becoming an epidemic in some countries in the world with a tendency to grow more. The number of people with diabetes is expected to double in the next decade. The main reason for this assumption is the aging of the population. Developing countries are especially at high risk, as a consequence of a sudden increase in quality of life can lead to an increase in patients with type 2 DM. Sedentary lifestyles are associated with an increased prevalence of diabetes and metabolic syndrome. In contrast, lifestyle change programs that include physical activity and exercise play an important role in the prevention and treatment of type 2 DM syndrome as well as macrovascular complications of type 2 DM. Physical exercise is emerging as a new tool in the fight against diabetes. This review paper outlines the importance and types of physical activity, the recommendations, and the benefits it brings. The literature review was performed on the PubMed (Medline) platform. Only English language articles are included. Usually, the term exercise refers to aerobic exercise in the general population. In this work, in addition to aerobic training and the benefits it brings, the effects of other training methods, such as strength training, yoga or tai chi, are also analyzed. Physical activity and exercise are one of the most effective agents in the fight against diabetes. The impact of training on blood glucose control can last up to 72 hours after training has ended. Moderate to high levels of aerobic activity are significantly associated with lower cardiovascular and overall mortality risks for type 1 and type 2 DM. The general recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO) is 150 min per week of moderate to intense physical activity. Aerobic training increases cardiorespiratory fitness and has the effect of reducing insulin resistance. Strength training leads to improved balance, strength, and assists in the daily activities of life. More intense strength training with free weights and trainers can improve glycemic control. Flexibility and balance exercises are important for maintaining joint movement and balance, reducing the risk of falls and improving the quality of life. People with DM should exercise daily. It is recommended that aerobic training should be combined with strength training 2 to 3 times a week. It is especially important to suggest and encourage the active lifestyles of people with DM. Physical activity is a cure and improves all parameters of health and quality of life.

Abstract:
During the last decades of the 1900s, a commercial health industry transformed a previous Swedish public health regime characterised by strong state control. Running and exercising at gyms are now widely practiced, and new products, diets and trends constantly appear. Part of this is a booming market of health- and fitness magazines, and this article examines the representation of healthy femininity in one of the more popular titles on the Swedish market, iForm, during the years 1987, 1997 and 2007. An ideology of healthism has been identified as salient to neoliberal late-modern society, where health and a fit body are important lifestyle markers and metaphors for the good life. This includes historically new gender ideals – the well-trained female body and the appearance-oriented man – closely associated with diet and exercise practices. This article discusses the “fit” woman as a historically new ideal and engages in the feminist debate on how to understand her: is she a norm-breaking emancipatory figure, or a post-feminist celebration of the strong individual communicating the message that there is no longer a need for feminist struggle? The study indicates that a discourse of individualism and personal responsibility grows increasingly prominent during the interrogated time period. Sport and play are replaced by more “rational” forms of exercise, for example in the gym. The very definition of health becomes more narrow; areas such as sex and relationships have disappeared from the magazine in 2007, as has more general educational articles on the body. Instead, the focus on diet and exercise has increased. Furthermore, the study of iForm shows that the models used to represent “health” are conventionally beautiful, smiling, white and predominately thin rather than obviously muscular. This, I conclude, limit the destabilizing potential of the “fit” woman in iForm.

Abstract:
In 1926, the President of the GermanReichCommittee for Physical Exercise (Deutscher Reichsausschuss für Leibesübungen, or DRAL) Theodor Lewald discussed the significance of sports for the German economy and national health in a presentation to the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Lewald deplored the physical state of the German population as a consequence of the lost war. Two million of the physically and mentally strongest German men had been killed, while millions of German men, women, and children were permanently physically weakened as a result of starvation during the war and the allied hunger blockade after the armistice. To make matters worse, the hygienic benefits of military service that had guaranteed the physical strength and fitness of male youth had been lost. Prior to the war about 500,000 men had served in the German army or navy where they had learned regimens of cleanliness, order, and discipline. According to Lewald, by limiting the size of the German army to 100,000 men, the victorious allies had not only weakened Germany militarily, but they had also tried to paralyze Germany economically by permanently weakening the “strength of the German people” (deutsche Volkskraft).1

Abstract:
The importance of physical activity (PA) in people’s health is well known. Today, sedentary lifestyles constitute a serious risk to global health. The likelihood that an individual will engage in PA depends largely on the perceived benefits and barriers to being physically active. The industry continues to create mechanisms to improve PA practice by minimizing the barriers. Thus, whole-body electrostimulation training (WB-EMS) emerged. Objective: To identify the main barriers and perceived benefits for WB-EMS users and to determine if there are differences between genders. Design: Cross-sectional study with 270 WB-EMS users from five countries. Results: There were no significant differences in barriers and perceived benefits between genders. Perceived benefits: enjoyment (70.3%), increased physical fitness (55.1%), personal accomplishment (53%), improve overall body (51.9%) and increase muscle strength (51.9%); Barriers: Take too much time from family (73.7%), take too much time from responsibilities (71.5%) and physical exercise (PE) takes a lot of time (67.4%). Conclusions: There were no significant differences between genders. The most prominent perceived benefits of using WB-EMS are enjoyment and increased physical health, and the main barriers are related to lack of time.
