Zoos house many specimens of native fauna and have great potential to contribute to Environmental Education for biodiversity conservation. However, some studies have pointed that even when these institutions carry on biodiversity conservation actions, this subject may be presented in their educational activities or exhibitions. To investigate the potential of zoos in Environmental Education for biodiversity, we chose the cougar (Puma concolor) conservation as motivating topic. It was selected for the reason that this specie is important to biodiversity maintenance in São Paulo State and because there are many challenges in education for big predators conservation. The purpose of this study was to identify environmental education for the cougar conservation strategic actions that zoos could be do; to discuss the educational intent on animal’s exhibition in zoos nowadays; and to analyze the cougar grounds for their potential as facilities that educates for the conservation of this specie. Adopting Freire principles, that grounds the critical environmental education and a hermeneutic research approach, this thesis was set up as a collective instrumental qualitative study case. The research had a diagnostic stage involving five zoos from Sao Paulo northeastern, in which the research first purpose was developed, and a further analysis stage performed with three of these institutions to address the other two purposes of this study. To collect information, we mainly use zoos technical and educational teams interviews, exhibition and cougar exhibit observations; and, finely, informative stuff, websites and technical documents analyses focused on enclosures and animals. The main result of diagnostic was that any specific cougar educational activity had been performed. But, the issue was extremely important for these institutions, which reported many cougars rescues, including some that occurred with animals on display. The teams believe that activities such as campaigns between Sao Paulo State zoos could improve the development of educational stuffs and facilities that educates for this specie conservation. From second stage of the research, we highlight there are two purposes regarding to animals display: firstly it’s to provide close contact with animals and secondly it’s to educate people for nature conservation. These purposes are coherent with zoos conservation goals and environmental education actions. Although, on an educational exhibition it is necessary to set up the balance between elements that explore each one of these purposes. In this sense, the analysis of cougar exhibits shows that the enclosures and its labels doesn’t has been focused on biodiversity conservation. Mediation about this topic it has been done mainly by educators. That reveals enclosures weaknesses on role as facilities that educates, but their potential could be expanded with additional information inclusion that contextualizes the cougar in their locality.

Over the past three decades of Hakka Movement, Hakka Culture is the most discussed and exercised one among all issues. All the outputs such as cultural activities, lectures, educational programs, festivals, museums, academic studies, and books keep popping out. These outputs are seen to be related to the fight for rights and interests by the Hakka ethnic group. To clarify these phenomena, this study sets out from the discussion concerning ethnic politics of Hakka and their actions and practices. Through analyzing cases of cultural outputs and political issues, especially in the case of the making of Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park, the researcher is able to observe the expanding discourses and imaginations of Hakka ethnic, then discussed the relationship between ethnic politics and cultural representation in postwar Taiwan. This study finds out that as the ethnic politics developing in postwar Taiwan, Hakka ethnic groups had taken culture issues as a kind of political action: to emphasize the unique of Hakka culture, giving the new value and significance. It’s been proved that Hakka cultural issues are politic issues. Moreover, Hakka culture had come into symbols, been performed and represented in forms of Yimin Temples, Tung Blossom Festivals, and museums. By representing those symbols, Hakka ethnic groups are repeatedly reconstructing their culture and identity. Furthermore, this phenomenon shows the importance of culture, symbol, and conception in contemporary society. It means that the consumption of symbols has turned into part of the identity-making process. This had become the specific background that Hakka political/cultural issues derived from; it could partly explain why Hakka cultural issues have taken a role irreplaceable in Hakka ethnic politics, and how those phenomena emerged through the representation and embodiment of Hakka culture.

Title of Thesis:Under the Relationship Marketing Framework-an analysis on how marketing activities by trade show organizer affects exhibitor loyalty Name of Institute:Global Entrepreneurial Management and Business Administration Fu Jen Catholic University Name of Student:Kai-Jen Cheng Advisor:Dr. Yie-Fang Kao, Dr. Shang-Chia Liu Total Page:101 Abstract: According to the research of UFI, every dollar invested in the MICE industry can bring along eight to ten dollars economic benefits. The MICE industry is the leading industry that countries are eager to develop since it combines the business of trade, tourism, traffic, and food. Therefore, the MICE industry is very important to the economic trade development of a country. However, domestic research of this industry is not enough; existing researches all emphasize on the exhibitors’ performance but seldom discuss the relationship between trade show organizers and exhibitors. Nonetheless, the trade show organizer is an important role for the exhibition’s success since the relationship between trade show organizers and exhibitors can be compared as the suppliers and the customers. This research will discuss about how marketing activities affect customer loyalty. Recently, the concept of relationship marketing brings influence to every industry. From the manufacturing industry to the service industry, they all focus on maintaining long-term relationship with customers. And as in the exhibition industry, whether or not the exhibitor would like to attend the trade show again becomes an important issue. Marketing activities held by the trade show organizer can bring loyal customers for the company or it can improve customer satisfaction and customer commitment. Therefore, relationship marketing has everything to do with improving customer loyalty. Besides, in marketing activities, the perceptive value by the exhibitor can be different from the ones provided by the trade show organizer. According to previous researches, customer perceptive value will influence on purchase intention. Therefore, this research will discuss B2B transaction through relationship marketing, and find out the relationship between customer satisfaction, customer commitment and customer value. Finally, this research will discuss about how marketing activities affect customer loyalty. The empirical research is undertaken on the exhibitors of mechanical industry, electronic industry, automobile industry, bicycle industry and consumer products industry trade shows held by TAITRA in 2008 or 2009. The 900 respondents produced a total of 210 effective questionnaires. This study uses descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, validity analysis, regression analysis and LISREL. The study results show as follow: 1. Among the marketing activities held by the show organizer, this paper shows that compared to transaction marketing activities, relationship marketing activities have more positive influence on customer values. 2. Among the marketing activities held by the show organizer, (this paper shows that) compared to transaction marketing activities, relationship marketing activities have more positive influence on customer satisfaction. 3. Among the marketing activities held by the show organizer, (this paper shows that) compared to relationship marketing activities, transaction marketing activities have more positive influence on customer commitment. 4. Customer values have positive influence on customer satisfaction. 5. Customer satisfaction has positive influence on customer commitment. 6. Customer values have positive influence on customer loyalty. 7. Customer satisfaction not has positive influence on customer loyalty. 8. Customer commitment has positive influence on customer loyalty. For management suggestion, according to the results, we have found that customer commitments influence customer loyalty most, customer values influence on customer loyalty the second, and the customer satisfaction influence on customer loyalty the least. These three factors are important and are correlated. This study suggests trade show organizer should consider customer satisfaction, commitment and value when planning marketing activities to improve the willingness of exhibitor to attend the exhibition again. The prerequisite of exhibition’s success depends on whether or not the exhibitor attends the exhibition again. If the exhibitor does not plan to attend the exhibition again, the marketing activities are unnecessary. Trade show organizer is like the supplier, it has to provide the perfect exhibition services to customers. In order to operate a sustainable exhibition, maintaining and improving customer loyalty are the key factors.
