This project was an evaluation of the initial interview as experienced by a sample of six families who utilised the services of the CGC in 2003. Families were given a semi-structured interview schedule which focussed on a number of common experiences of the assessment interview. This thesis articulates a novel interpretation of Heidegger’s explication of the being (Seins) of gear (Zeugs) in §15 of his masterwork Being and Time (1927/2006) and develops and applies the position attributed to Heidegger to explain three phenomena of unreflective action discussed in recent literature and articulate a partial Heideggerian ecological metaphysics. This study investigated the effect of group counseling on the self-concept of women who were sexually abused as children. The Tennessee Self-Concept Scale was administered to two groups of women, aged 19-60, at a sexual abuse treatment center in a major Southwestern city. A static-group comparison model was followed, with a pretreatment group (N = 11) compared to a group (N = 10) that had been in treatment for 12 months or more.
