Hetta og ymisk onnur viðurskifti gera, at úrslitini ikki siga okkum alla søguna um broytingarnar í føroyskum plantuvøkstri, sum fara at koma av globalu upphitingini.</p><p> </p><p><strong>A</strong><strong>bstract</strong></p><p>Over a period of nine years we studied the influence of experimental warming on the flowering phenology of Moss Campion<strong>, </strong><em>Silene acaulis </em>in the Faroes. The temperature was experimentally elevated with hexagonal greenhouses called open top chambers (OTC´s) made by polycarbonate. The experiment was conducted in an alpine area at 600 m a.s.l. where the flowering stage of <em>Silene acaulis </em>was measured regularly during the growing season from May to July in ten OTC´s and ten control plots. In this paper, we present observations from 2001 and every year from 2007 to 2010. We measured four events in the flowering stage: first visible bud (FB), first flowering date (FO), first petal drop (FPD) and last petal drop (LPD). This experiment is a part of „The International Tundra Experiment“ (ITEX) that is a collaborative, multisite experiment using a common temperature manipulation to examine the influence of climate change on vegetation. The results from our experiment showed statistically significant changes between the OTC´s and the control plots for all four events. Typically, the events occurred about one week earlier in the OTC´s. The length of the flowering period from FB to LPD was not significally different in the OTC´s from the control plots. The warming induced by the OTC´s in our experiment was only about 1oC in the summer and less than that in the winter. This and other confounding effects such as sheltering imply that care should be taken when using our results to predict phenological in the Faroes changes induced by global warming.</p>

Abstract:
One of the most important properties, affecting the flow regime in the soil profile, is the topsoil saturated hydraulic conductivity (<I>Ks</I>). The laboratory-determined <I>Ks </I>often fails to characterise properly the respective field value; the <I>Ks </I>lab estimation requires labour intensive sampling and fixing procedures, difficult to follow in highly structured and stony soils. Thus, simple single- or double-ring ponded infiltration experiments are frequently performed in situ to obtain the field scale information required. In the present study, several important factors, affecting the infiltration rate during the infiltration experiments, are analysed using three-dimensional axisymmetric finite-element model S2D. The examined factors include: (1) the diameter of the infiltration ring, (2) the depth of water in the ring, (3) the depth of the ring insertion under the soil surface, (4) the size and the shape of the finite-element mesh near the ring wall, and (5) the double- vs. single-ring setup. The analysis suggests that the depth of the ring insertion significantly influences the infiltration rate. The simulated infiltration rates also exhibit high sensitivity to the shape of the finite-element mesh near the ring wall. The steady-state infiltration rate, even when considering a double-ring experiment, is significantly higher than the topsoil saturated hydraulic conductivity. The change of the water depth in the outer ring has only a small impact on the infiltration rate in the inner ring.

Abstract:
The links among public space, landscape, and contemporary art are the central theme of this paper. In shaping a landscape design essay for a public park on a silted waterfront in the city of Ilhéus - BA, Brazil, dynamic alter-natives are introduced for the renovation of the public space, based upon the diversification of common uses. The purpose is to build a connection between landscape and art through the re-signification of the natural and cultural processes of the specific site, which may promote a new collective sense of place. The work presents as its theoretical support studies that look at the landscape from its active aspect and discuss the extended field of contemporary art. The paper concludes stressing the importance of the active role of landscape architecture in urban places reconfiguration. Key-Words: Landscape architecture, Urban park, Contemporary Art

Abstract:
The hypothesis, that hypoiodemia of goats causes such a compromise of the immune system, which during subsequent Toxoplasma gondii infections results in clinically more pronounced signs of toxoplasmosis, was verifying in laboratory mouse. Hypoiodemic mice (fed by wheat and supplied by water), normoiodemic mice (fed by wheat and supplied by water containing 1.25 mg KI/l) and the majority of standard mice (fed by commercial grain mixture containing 0.83 mg I/kg) were experimentally infected with T. gondii oocysts or tachyzoites. The susceptibility to acute T. gondii infection was evaluated according to mortality rate. As a criterion of cell-mediated immune function has been chosen the spleen-lymphocyte transformation test (LTT). We observed no difference in LTT between hypoiodemic and normoiodemic mice infected with T. gondii oocysts or tachyzoites and no difference in mortality of both infected groups. Four days after the exposure to 100 tachyzoites of T. gondii (K24 strain), all experimentally infected groups of mice showed statistically significant decrease (P = 0.004) in spleen cells responsiveness to stimulation by all mitogens used &ndash; as compared to non-infected standard mice group. Reduced responsiveness of cells was probably caused by T. gondii infection itself &ndash; the relation to iodine deficiency has not been found.

The paper presents results of the experimental research of a middle-size combine harvester when used for harvest of winter wheat and spring barley in heavy harvest conditions. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to determine the effect of field conditions on the crop mass flow in combine harvester, grain losses, fuel consumption, and combine harvester field performance. It was found that grain moisture content and conditions of the crop stand have a significant effect on the work indicators of the combine harvester when compared with its technological parameters and crop mass flow.

Abstract:
Abstract Communication is a key factor in containing a pandemic. Fragmented information may affect people’s perceptions and behaviors, especially in times of governmental miscommunication, potentially jeopardizing efforts aimed at containing the spread of the disease. To test whether and how people have been sensitive to broken information during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, we performed a randomized survey experiment on a sample of 571 respondents. We found that more pessimistic or more optimistic fragmented messages about the pandemic have no overall significant average effect on perceptions and planned behavior of the respondents. The exploratory analyses showed that particular sociodemographic groups are more sensitive to these fragmented messages. While less educated people react to more pessimistic messages with an increased likelihood to intensify prevention measures, people aged 60 or older - the high-risk group for COVID-19 complications - react to more optimistic messages with a reduced probability to intensify prevention measures. Besides providing insights to the public administration literature on disaster management, the results reinforce the need for governments to consistently centralize communication efforts to guarantee that people are equipped with complete and accurate information to form their perceptions and adequate their behaviors towards a health crisis.

Methods in experimental science assume objective facts, and those effects are generally independent of the observer or experimenter. This objectivity assumption is not warranted in the field of human studies. Results of psychological experiments tend to be dependent on among other things the expectations of the experimenter. The experimenter effect togther with the replication crisis in social psychology are major issues in experimental parapsychology. We use Houtkooper's Hierarchical Observational Theory to look at a model for dealing with this issue, and conclude that multiple-experimenter projects might be able to sort out experimenter effects from intrinisic effects. Abstract:
Grape skins contain a plenty of different flavonoids, most of them revealing significant antioxidant properties. In this contribution, a complex study is presented of grape skin ethanol extracts, prepared from grape skins of two vine grape varieties, Svatovavřinecké (St. Laurent) and Alibernet. Extracts were prepared from two different amounts of lyophilised grape skin powders using the pressurised fluid extraction (PFE). The antioxidant activity of the extracts was tested by EPR spectroscopy in Fenton system generating reactive radicals (•OH, O<sub–•, •R) followed by spin trapping technique. In addition, radical scavenging activity of the extracts was assessed applying 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (•DPPH) free radical and 2,2’-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) cation radical (ABTS•>+>) assays. Total phenolic content (TPC) of the individual extracts and their tristimulus colour values (CIE Lab) were evaluated, using an UV-VIS spectrophotometer. All the data obtained were subsequently correlated and discriminated, using the multivariate statistics, involving the canonical discriminant analysis, principal component analysis, and canonical correlation analysis. Results obtained indicated that PFE is a suitable extraction technique, only slightly influencing antioxidant ability as well as composition of the so-prepared extracts. The influence of extraction conditions on the entire monitored characteristics was insignificant.
