Le développement des processus d’apprentissage est un phénomène influencé par IInteraction systémique de facteurs de différentes natures. Parmi les variables critiques du processus d'apprentissage au sein des PME se dégage notamment le rôle de l’entrepreneur et de sa culture qui peut devenir le volant ou, au contraire, le frein des processus d’évolution stimulés par les relations que l’entreprise entretient avec son milieu économique de référence par le biais de différents canaux relationnels. La thèse soutenue dans cet article est que les processus d’apprentissage des PME sont influencés par la typologie des relations que ces dernières établissent avec leur milieu économique de référence. Notre objectif est de vérifier le caractère significatif de deux différents canaux relationnels des PME (apprentissage par la proximité du marché et par l’exportation) à travers l’analyse des caractéristiques de la culture d’entreprise dans les différents secteurs examinés. À cet effet, une analyse explorative a été menée à partir d’un échantillon de 104 PME italiennes appartenant à des secteurs « matures ». On a analysé dans le détail cinq groupes de variables représentatives à la fois de la dimension interne (entrepreneur, entreprise) et de la dimension externe à l’entreprise (intensité des processus d’exportation, concentration territoriale, marchés de débouchés intermédiaires ou finaux) dans le but de souligner les particularités du processus d’apprentissage de la PME. Les données ont été élaborées grâce à des méthodes statistiques multivariées (analyse en composantes principales et analyse des groupes) qui permettent d’interpréter les effets systématiques engendrés par l’interaction de variables de nature différente. Les résultats de l’élaboration ont confirmé le « rôle critique » que revêt la figure de l’entrepreneur pour le développement du processus d’apprentissage et la « non-planification », étapes du développement de ce processus dans les PME. Quant aux caractéristiques des canaux d’apprentissage analysés, il est apparu que les processus d’apprentissage sont plus influencés par le contact direct que l’entreprise entretient avec le marché final que par sa présence sur les marchés étrangers.

Abstract:
Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, welche Motive Konsumenten dazu verleiten, soziale Medien im sogenannten "Web 2.0" aktiv oder passiv zu nutzen. Hierbei liegt das Augenmerk insbesondere auf soziodemographischen und psychologischen Merkmalen der Nutzer. Als zentrales Ergebnis der Arbeit kann herausgestellt werden, dass sich die befragten 188 Personen insgesamt anhand von zwei Dimensionen: Aktivität vs. Passivität und soziale Motivation vs. individuelle Motivation in 5 Gruppen beschreiben lassen. Mithilfe klassischer und neuer Marketing-Instrumente (z.B. Virales Marketing) lassen sich diese Gruppen zielgenau ansprechen.

Abstract . Der zunehmend grenzüberschreitende Charakter der heutigen Geschäftswelt führt Unternehmen dazu, ihre Auslandsmärkte auszuweiten. Unternehmen, die mit Erfolg auf dem internationalen Markt agieren wollen, stehen vor mehreren großen Herausforderungen. Unter anderem werden Webseiten in verschiedenen Kulturen anders gestaltet: Benutzer von Webseiten haben bestimmte Erwartungen dazu, welche Informationen ihnen präsentiert werden sollen und in welcher Form. Für international agierende Unternehmen ist es von Nutzen, die Neigungen und Vorlieben des Ziellandes zu kennen, damit sie ihren Online-Auftritt entsprechend anpassen können. In der vorliegenden Pro-Gradu-Arbeit wird der Online-Auftritt von deutschen Unternehmen in der Medizintechnik-Branche untersucht. Mithilfe einer inhaltsanalytischen Vorgehensweise wird die Häufigkeit von bestimmten Webseitenelementen ermittelt. Das verwendete Kategoriensystem besteht aus 118 Elementen in den Untergruppen Layout, Navigation, Interaktivität, Illustrationen, Ikonen, Symbole, Fotos, Multimedia, Inhalte und Themen. Neben der Häufigkeitsanalyse der Designelemente werden die kulturellen Beweggründe miteinbezogen: Welche Beziehung besteht zwischen der Häufigkeit bestimmter Elemente und den kulturellen Eigenschaften Deutschlands? Der kulturbezogene Teil der Analyse baut auf den Theorien über Kulturdimensionen von Geert Hofstede und Edward T. Hall auf. Die theoretische Grundlage umfasst die Dimensionen Individualismus/Kollektivismus, Machtdistanz, Unsicherheitsvermeidung und Maskulinität/Femininität von Hofstede und die Dimension High Context – Low Context von Hall. Mithilfe der früheren Forschung werden die Elemente des Kategoriensystems mit bestimmten Kulturdimensionen in Verbindung gebracht. Die Analyse zeigt, dass es innerhalb der Medtech-Branche eine große Vielfalt von verschiedenen Unternehmen und demzufolge auch von verschiedenen Webseitendesigns gibt. Dennoch können einige Gemeinsamkeiten festgestellt werden, wie zum Beispiel, dass sich die Verwendung von Pop-ups hauptsächlich auf Cookie-Einstellungen beschränkte, dass Video und Audio nur selten verwendet wurden, und dass Grafiken und Animationen vorwiegend funktionalistischen statt ästhetischen Zwecken dienten. Der Vergleich mit den Kulturdimensionen brachte variierende Resultate hervor. Die stärkste Übereinstimmung zeigten die Dimensionen High Context – Low Context, Individualismus – Kollektivismus und Unsicherheitsvermeidung. Die Dimensionen Machtdistanz und Maskulinität – Femininität waren weniger eindeutig. In Zukunft kann das Kategoriensystem weiterverwendet werden, um finnische Unternehmenswebseiten zu codieren und eine kontrastive Analyse mit den Resultaten der vorliegenden Arbeit durchzuführen. Es wurde auch festgestellt, dass die Kulturdimensionen entgegengesetzte Wirkungen auf die gleichen Webseitenelemente haben können. Diese gegenseitige Beeinflussung der Kulturdimensionen gibt Anlass für weitere Untersuchungen.Tiivistelmä. Liike-elämä muuttuu nykyään yhä kansainvälisempään suuntaan, mikä ajaa yrityksiä laajentamaan ulkomaiden toimintaansa. Voidakseen toimia menestyksekkäästi kansainvälisillä markkinoilla yritykset joutuvat selviämään useista haasteista. Näihin haasteisiin lukeutuvat muun muassa kulttuurienväliset erot internetsivujen suunnittelussa: sivujen käyttäjillä on tiettyjä odotuksia sen suhteen, mitä informaatioita heille tarjotaan ja missä muodossa. Kansainvälisessä ympäristössä toimiville yrityksille on tärkeää tuntea kohdemaan taipumukset ja mieltymykset, jotta ne voivat muokata verkkomateriaalinsa sopiviksi. Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma tutkii saksalaisten terveysteknologiayritysten verkkosivuja. Työ tutkii tiettyjen verkkosivuelementtien esiintymistä sivuilla sisällönanalyyttisen tutkimusmenetelmän avulla. Analyysissä käytettävä kategoriajärjestelmä koostuu 118:sta elementistä, jotka jakautuvat ryhmiin asettelu, navigointi, interaktiivisuus, kuvitus, ikonit, symbolit, valokuvat, multimedia, sisällöt ja teemat. Elementtien esiintymistiheyden lisäksi tutkitaan myös niiden käytön yhteyttä kulttuurillisiin tekijöihin. Kulttuurillisten tekijöiden analyysi pohjautuu Geert Hofsteden ja Edward T. Hallin teorioihin kulttuuriulottuvuuksista. Tässä työssä käytetään Hofsteden ulottuvuuksista neljää (individualismi/kollektivismi, valtaetäisyys, epävarmuuden välttäminen sekä maskuliinisuus/feminiinisyys) ja Hallin ulottuvuuksista yhtä (korkea konteksti – matala konteksti). Kategoriajärjestelmän elementit yhdistetään tiettyihin kulttuuriulottuvuuksiin aiempien tutkimusten avulla. Analyysi osoittaa, että terveysteknologia-alalla toimii laaja kirjo erilaisia yrityksiä, minkä vuoksi myös internetsivuissa on paljon hajontaa. Yhtäläisyyksiäkin pystyttiin kuitenkin havaitsemaan, kuten että ponnahdusikkunoita käytettiin lähinnä evästeasetusten hyväksyttämiseen ja että video- ja audiosisältöjä käytettiin vain hyvin harvoin. Lisäksi grafiikoiden ja animaatioiden käyttö puhtaasti esteettisistä syistä oli melko harvinaista. Kulttuuriulottuvuuksien osalta tulokset olivat vaihtelevia. Vahvin vastaavuus aiempien tutkimusten kanssa havaittiin kontekstiulottuvuuden, individualismin/kollektivismin sekä epävarmuuden välttämisen kohdalla. Valtaetäisyyden ja maskuliinisuuden/feminiinisyyden osalta tulokset olivat vähemmän selkeitä. Tulevaisuudessa tämän tutkielman kategoriajärjestelmää voi hyödyntää suomalaisyritysten verkkosivujen tutkimiseen, mikä yhdessä tämän työn tulosten kanssa mahdollistaisi kontrastiivisen analyysin suorittamisen. Analyysin yhteydessä kävi myös ilmi, että joillain kulttuuriulottuvuuksilla on vastakkaisia vaikutuksia tiettyjen elementtien käyttöön. Nämä kulttuuriulottuvuuksien keskinäiset vuorovaikutussuhteet antavat myös aihetta jatkotutkimuksille.

Abstract:
Die explorative Analyse untersucht den erfolgten Breitbandausbau im Freistaat Sachsen von 2011 bis 2017. Hierzu wurden Daten des TÜV Rheinland und des Statistischen Landesamtes des Freistaates Sachsen verwendet. In einer multiplen linearen Regression wurde der Breitbandausbau untersucht. Das Ergebnis weist auf einen angebotsgetriebenen Breitbandausbau hin, der durch Urbanität, bisher erfolgten Ausbau und den Anteil an bebauter Fläche erklärt wird. Die Hypothese, dass Unternehmen auch aufgrund Nachfrageaspekten in diesem Markt agieren, konnte nicht nachgewiesen werden.

Agilität und Konvergenz bei der Entwicklung physischer Produkte zu verbinden, stellt eine große Herausforderung dar. Basierend auf einem Design Thinking-Ansatz versucht das an der Stanford Universität entwickelte ME310-Produktentwicklungsprozessmodell den Widerspruch in den Zielsetzungen dieser beiden Entwicklungsprinzipien aufzulösen. Über einen qualitativen Fallstudienansatz haben wir die Praktikabilität des ME310-Prozessmodelles für die Entwicklung diskreter physischer Produkte untersucht. Der Beitrag beginnt mit der Beschreibung der grundlegenden entwicklungsmethodischen Prinzipien dieses hybriden Prozessmodelles. Anschließend werden die Ergebnisse unserer empirischen Untersuchung vorgestellt, in der wir die Koevolution von Problem- und Lösungsraum in zehn studentischen Projekten, in denen physische Produkte nach diesem Prozessmodell entwickelt wurden, detailliert nachvollzogen haben. Unsere explorative Studie zeigte, dass die Konvergenz der Lösungsfindung in den Entwicklungsprojekten nicht den theoretischen Vorgaben des Prozessmodelles entsprach, sondern dass es auch in den späten Phasen des Entwicklungsprozesses noch häufig zu Konzeptänderungen bzw. Änderungen des zugrundeliegenden Problemverständnisses kam. Abschließend werden mögliche Ansatzpunkte für die weitergehende Forschung formuliert, welche die Integration von Methoden aus der Konzeptphase des Systems Engineering in das ME310-Prozessmodell beinhalten.

Abstract:
In this paper I consider the relations between the different meanings and representations of the concept of technical function that are in use in engineering design methodology. I focus on two representation schemes — the verb-noun and the operation-on-flows representations — and analyse whether representations of technical functions created with the one scheme can be transposed into representations of the same functions with the other scheme. I argue that the answer depends on the particular meaning of function that one adopts. When functions of technical systems refer to behaviours of those systems, then the two representations can be reciprocally transposed following the rule that the verbs in the verb-noun representations correspond to the operations in the operation-on-flows representations, and the nouns to the (main) flows. When, however, technical functions refer to the purposes for which systems are designed, it can be argued that these representations cannot be transposed using this rule. The reason for this result is that operation-on-flows combinations, where the flows are flows through technical systems, are, in general, not suited to represent purposive technical functions of the systems. In a subsidiary and more explorative discussion I focus on the transposition of verb-noun representations of purposive functions into operation-on-flows representations of behavioural functions in design methodologies such as the Functional Basis account of Robert Stone and Kristin Wood.

This report analyzes the current service level of winter operations in Indiana and explores opportunities to optimize performance. We analyze data regarding winter operations managed by INDOT and provide specific quantified estimates of opportunities to improve efficiency while also managing costs. For our exploration, we use data provided by INDOT sources, qualitative insights from interviews with INDOT personnel, literature survey data and benchmarking information, salt and supplier data analysis, and simulation. As part of our research, we developed a simulation model to visually represent the impact of alternate management of trucks for snow removal and a dashboard to understand the impact. Our analysis suggests the following: (1) opportunities exist to coordinate salt delivery by suppliers and combine local city salt purchases with INDOT’s purchases to save costs, (2) adjusting routes will reduce deadhead, (3) understanding truck maintenance and truck locations improves performance, and (4) incorporating critical locations into snow route planning will meet service thresholds. These insights provide implementable recommendation initiatives to improve winter operations performance. The simulation tool developed in this project simulates various weather events to draw insights and determine appropriate resource allocations and opportunities for improving operational efficiency. The report thus provides a quantifiable approach to winter operations that can improve the overall service level and efficiency of the process.

Abstract:
This article seeks to analyze the Colombian labor market during the COVID-19 crisis to explore its effect on labor market gender gaps. The country offers an interesting setting for analysis because, as most countries in the Global South, it has an employment market that combines formal and informal labor, which complicates the nature of the pandemic's aftermath. Our exploration offers an analysis that highlights the crisis's effects as in a downward staircase fall that mainly affects women compared to men. We document a phenomenon that we will call a "female staircase fall." Women lose status in the labor market; the formal female workers' transition to informal jobs, occupied women fall to unemployment, and the unemployed go to inactivity; therefore, more and more women are relegated to domestic work. We also study how women’s burden of unpaid care has increased due to the crisis, affecting their participation in paid employment.
