This article discusses that technology can ease the adversity between industrial designers and mechanical engineers. In many manufacturing organizations, engineers coexist, albeit sometimes uneasily, with the industrial designers who shape the way the product will look on the outside. While mechanical engineers take care of laying out the mechanisms inside the product’s shell, industrial designers are concerned with its external shape and appeal. At Symbol Technologies in Holtsville, NY, that uneasy alliance does not exist anymore. Symbol’s devices have to be rugged because, although they are

By using the present technique the varying tendency of flutter speed can be determined preliminarily. This can be very useful and valuable to the designers at the beginning stage of flutter analysis. Abstract:
Due to inadequate designers in fast fashion industry and the development of the Internet, small-and-medium-sized garment makers have gradually turned to external talents to enhance their new product design efficiency via crowdsourcing initiative. This paper presents a new framework of crowdsourcing supply chain for fast fashion industry. First, a basic multiperiod order model is established in a crowdsourcing supply chain system, where a garment maker chooses the best one among available solutions submitted by online designers (i.e., crowdsources) in each period, then transforms it into finish

Abstract The objective of conventional topology optimization is to optimize the material distribution for a prescribed design domain. However, solving the topology optimization problem strongly depends on the settings specified by the designer for the shape of the design domain or their specification of the boundary conditions. This contradiction indicates that the improvement of structures should be achieved by optimizing not only the material distribution but also the additional design variables that specify the above settings. We refer to the additional design variables as external variable

Abstract:
Designers of modern conventional submarines are constantly striving to improve the platforms capabilities in a time of diverse missions. The inherent space and weight restrictions imposed on submarine design dictate a high level of optimisation and the implementation of advanced technologies to combat these often conflicting requirements. The design of external stowages is an area where this design paradigm is especially evident. In order to provide the RAN with additional mission flexibility and meet rigorous submarine requirements a novel approach was adopted to develop a composite pressure

One of the possibilities how to increase the efficiency of the deployment of tools for design, simulation and preparing of manufacturing technology is linking engineering applications with external tools, providing data for digital model managing. Strategically correctly designed parametric model can be managed by externally provided information. This paper provides examples of three methods using external data. Presented methods are validated during the use in industrial practice and in the preparation of technical staff at secondary schools, colleges and universities of engineering focus. Th

In vibration control field magneto-rheological (MR) fluid dampers are semi-active control devices that have recently begun to receive more attention. This paper presents a new type of MR fluid damper with external coil. The new structure of the damper was optimized and analyzed based on a static magnetic analysis with the help of electromagnetic finite element analysis (FEA) using the software of ANSYS. The damping characteristics of the damper were theoretically researched. Research results show that the designed MR fluid damper with external coil has wider scope of damping adjustment and str

The landscape design for urban residential areas is a comprehensive and emerging discipline. From the perspective of art, landscape designers should give full consideration to the formal beauty which includes the conception of the work, space, drawing, color, etc. Works should make people feel their beauty in sight, hearing, touch, smell, etc. But only pursuing the beauty of the form is not enough, landscape design is the comprehensive science and artistic subject. Ignoring the function and only pursuing the formal beauty are the common problems in the works of landscape design. When dealing w
