In this scientific work, the team of authors presents a mathematical model for studying the dynamics of the motion of a projectile in the air, fired from cannon. One of the main problems of external ballistics is to determine the magnitude of the force of the air resistance to the movement of the projectile. Usually in studies, a discrete relationship between the magnitude of the force of resistance and projectile velocity has been established. However, to improve the accuracy of firing, it is necessary to determine the functional dependence of air resistance on projectile velocity, determinis

Abstract:
In this paper, novel architecture of the true random number generator (TRNG) is presented. The proposed TRNG uses jitter in capacitive oscillators as a source of entropy. These capacitive oscillators exploit the input/output (I/O) buffers of a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip. A specific connection between these buffers allows cyclical charging and discharging of a parasitic capacitance associated with an external FPGA pin. If a few pins of an FPGA chip are not connected to any external components, they can be targeted to build the TRNG. The proposed TRNG requires only three external

A procedure is described for incorporating interregional (external) heavy-duty truck trips in a regional travel-demand forecasting model. The procedure was developed as part of a comprehensive truck modeling effort conducted by the Southern California Association of Governments. The procedure is based on commodity flow forecasts and economic input-output modeling techniques. County-level commodity flows are disaggregated to the transportation analysis zone level using employment data, land use data, and commercial facility data. Abstract:
In this paper, an approach for the estimation of insolation available to a solar energy collector that may be shaded temporally by external horizon obstructions is described. This approach uses, in place of complicated mathematical expressions or sophisticated specialized computer software, a set of custom-designed charts and tables, and a simple equation, to evaluate the temporal radiation income to the solar collector. The solar position diagram or sun-chart is first used to determine shading status, and then a package of charts and tables is used to evaluate a suitable tilted-plane sky mode

The article outlines the methods for creating SQL queries in relational databases. The use of the structured query language SQL in relational databases is substantiated. It provides information about the SQL standard and the three-tier database organization system. The author describes the choice of a data model based on the conceptual level using to that end an example of the Kokand Pedagogical Institute as the relational database model. A relational conceptual diagram of the information model of a pedagogical institute is compiled. Such a conceptual diagram is depicted using a cluster. Objec

Influences from external factors can affect decision-makers, preventing them from making decisions in a fully rational manner. Music may serve as one such influential factor in this context. Music is part of our daily lives, and we are exposed to music in numerous places. We designed a field experiment to study the influence of background music on patrons’ behavior in restaurants. Specifically, we examine the effect of the music’s tempo (slow or fast) on time spent in the restaurant, the bill amount, and the tip size. The results show that patrons in the slow tempo group spent the most time in

The capacity of multi-regional input–output tables (MRIOTs) to investigate linkages across structures and subnational regions within a country makes them a useful and solid tool of various types of simulations. This study develops MRIOTs for the Polish regions that can be subsequently employed to macroeconomic simulations, including assessing internal policy impulse responses or testing the regional economic resilience to external shocks. For this purpose, we build three macro-regions, discuss how their structural features validate their use to study differentials in economic policy effects or

Optimization of a second-order multiply-connected inhomogeneous boundary-value problem was considered in terms of elastic torsion. External boundary and material proportions are the applied constraints in finding optimal internal configurations of the cross section. The optimization procedure is based on the numerical simulation of the membrane analogy and the results obtained indicate that the procedure is usable as an engineering tool. Optimal solutions are obtained for some representative cases of the torsion problem and they are presented in the form of tables and figures.

Here we propose a unified terminology for the pigmentation of the lanternfish larvae (Myctophidae). The distinguished two main groups of pigmentation (external and internal) are subdivided into subunits according to their location on the fish body, in total including 77 structural units corresponding to a particular pigment cluster. The use of this nomenclature enables uniform description of pigmentation by different authors. Examples of characteristics of larval pigmentation are given using the proposed nomenclature in the forms of a formal description and summarized diagnostic tables.
