It is clear that selective logging has a significant impact on the Greater Glider. Whereas the Protection Measures proposed by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) may produce a small decrease in the impact, DAF is proposing to continue significantly impacting this endangered species. The application of a policy to balance jobs and the environment is inappropriate for an endangered species. Invasive exotic plant (IEP) species are a significant threat to natural ecosystem integrity and biodiversity, and controlling them is a high priority for the National Park Service. The North-ern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) selected the early detection of IEPs as one of 11 monitoring protocols to be implemented as part of its long-term monitoring program.
