Abstract:
Le relevé par Scanner Laser Terrestre (SLT) et le traitement de ces données, ou lasergrammétrie, est en pleine évolution depuis plusieurs années. Les domaines de l'architecture et de la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel bénéficient de plus en plus des produits dérivés de cette technologie. L'apparition de la lasergrammétrie a permis l'inventaire, l'archivage et la modélisation tridimensionnelle des édifices et des sites. Toutefois, le processus de traitement des données brutes et de production des produits dérivés est long et parfois difficile. Des travaux de recherche ont alors permis d'automatiser certaines étapes de traitement. Dans le cadre de l'analyse de façades de bâtiments historiques, les approches de traitement automatique développées pour l'identification des plans et des détails, dont la phase de segmentation, sont généralement géométriques. Ces approches présentent cependant des limites dans l'identification des éléments de façades appartenant au même plan. Dans ce contexte, nous proposons un nouveau processus automatique de segmentation d'un nuage de points. Ce processus intègre l'ensemble des composantes du nuage de points à savoir les composantes géométriques et radiométriques - couleur et intensité laser. Nous présentons ensuite une nouvelle méthode de filtrage des résultats de segmentation basée sur la triangulation de Delaunay. L'étape finale consiste à détecter les contours des éléments segmentés en vue de l'établissement d'un modèle vectoriel. Cette méthode est testée sur des façades des anciennes Médinas au Maroc dont celle de la Médina de Casablanca. Nos résultats montrent l'importance d'intégrer toutes les composantes du nuage de points pour l'établissement du modèle vectoriel.

Les modèles de processus ponctuels marquès ont été appliqués avec succès pour l'extraction d'objets à partir d'images optiques de télédétection à haute résolution lors de la dernière décennie. Les modèles se composes typiquement de deux types de termes d'énergie : un terme de données qui reflète la fidélité des configurations à l'image d'entrée et un terme qui intègre des connaissances a priori sur les objets à extraire. Dans cet article, nous traitons le problème de l'extraction des bateaux dans des ports. C'est un problème difficile en raison de la répartition particulière des objets dans ce cas. Nous décrivons un modèle de processus ponctuel marquè à base d'ellipses développé auparavant, pour lequel nous déterminons automatiquement l'un de ses principaux paramètres. Nous présentons quelques-uns des inconvénients de ce modéle en raison des contraintes dures imposées, que nous relaxons ensuite pour rendre le nouveau modèle plus général.

Abstract:
AbstractMost of the literature devoted to the "theory of the mine" has been developed under certainty. It has been unable to explain the activity of exploration. The stochastic models of exploration were developed quasi-independently from economic theory. The purpose of this article is to survey both the mining and economic literature related to the "theory of the mine" under uncertainty and the exploration models since the turn of the century. The survey is complementary to the one made in this journal by F. Peterson and A.C. Fisher.The first part defines exploration as being essentially a search and information gathering activity. It reviews the contributions to the economic theory of exploration and resource stock uncertainty. It compares the optimal extraction path and the life cycle of the mine under stock uncertainty and stock certainty. It shows in particular that increasing the rate of discount is generally inappropriate to take account of stock uncertainty. Some partial equilibrium results on exploration are given as well. The presence of stock uncertainty or exploration in a general equilibrium model is shown to jeopardize the optimality of competitive allocations.The second part points out the wealth of the theoretical and empirical analysis of exploration as a stochastic process. It first reviews the literature on size distributions of reserves which gives strong theoretical and empirical support to the lognormal hypothesis. It then goes on to the exploration models which roughly speaking can be broken down into two groups. The Allais type models, better suited for relatively unexplored regions, which combine a Poisson or negative binomial process for discovery with a lognormal distribution for sizes. The Arps-Roberts-Kaufman type models, more adequate for "mature" regions, assume exhaustive sampling with probability proportional to size of discovery. Generally the treatment of the discovery process, to be distinguished from the sampling for sizes, and the handling of geological information are still woefully inadequate.The third and last part of the survey points out the gap which exists in the microeconomic literature about the study of random inputs. It suggests that the theory of dams and insurance and the theory of search especially adaptive search could be fruitfully used. Problems which remain to be tackled are the influence of stock uncertainty on grade of ore mined and on investment in capacity.

Este artículo analiza los procesos de construcción y expansión de redes sociales y dispositivos de patronazgo privado que coordinaron el proceso de frontera interna del Istmo de Veracruz durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Se interesa en particular en los diversos soportes institucionales, oficiales e informales en los que actores privados, vinculados con la red de poder del presidente Miguel Alemán, apoyaron sus estrategias de control sobre los recursos naturales y estatales movilizados en dicho proceso. En muchos aspectos, estos dispositivos sociales e institucionales se han cristalizado en dinámicas de enclaves, es decir, en la formación de espacios regulados por sistemas de reglas y autoridades privadas, segregados en lo esencial de las jurisdicciones territoriales establecidas por la ley y los reglamentos oficiales. En el Istmo Central, son dispositivos personalizados de patronazgo privado los que confirieron a las estructuras territoriales características de campos jurisdiccionales de excepción.Abstract: This article analyzes the processes through which social networks and private patronage devices developed in order to coordinate the internal frontier process in the Isthmus of Veracruz during the second half of the 20th century. It particularly focusses on the institutional bases, both official and informal, which enabled private actors, associated with the power network of President Miguel Alemán, to establish and expand their strategies for controlling the natural and state resources mobilized in this process. In many ways, such social and institutional arrangements crystallized in enclave dynamics, i.e. in the formation of spaces regulated by private sets of rules and authorities, segregated to a major extent from the territorial jurisdictions established by laws and official regulations. In the Central Isthmus, territorial structures were molded by personalized private patronage networks that conferred them the characteristics of exceptional jurisdictional fields.Keywords: internal frontier; patronage; cattle reeding; enclave; privatization.Résumé : Cet article analyse les processus de construction et d’expansion de réseaux sociaux et de dispositifs de patronage privé qui ont coordonné le processus de frontière interne dans l’Isthme de Veracruz, au cours de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Il s’intéresse en particulier aux bases institutionnelles, tant officielle qu’informelles, qui ont permis à des acteurs privés, associés au réseau de pouvoir du président Miguel Alemán, d’asseoir leurs stratégies de contrôle des ressources naturelles et étatiques mo­bilisées dans ce processus. A bien des égards, ces dispositifs sociaux et institutionnels se sont cristallisés dans des dynamiques d’enclave, c’est-à-dire dans la formation d’espaces régulés par des systèmes de règles et d’autorités privées, ségrégués dans une large mesure des juridictions territoriales établies par la loi et les règlements officiels. Degree of residual ridge loss is influenced by sistemic phactors, but during the first phase after extraction local phactors are dominant. Patohistological changes of alveolar processus of jaws show the possibility of negative influence of complete dentures on support tissue. In this study, on the chosen sample, the degree of alveolar ridge loss was measured in the group of immediate complete denture users (30 patients) and classical complete denture users ( 30 patients).Height of residual alveolar ridge was measured on ortopantomograms. Localization of referent points proportion was used because of neutralization of shadow distorsion (five in maxilla and five in mandibula). The first ortopantomogram was made at the time of delivering dentures, and the second one six months later. The final measurement of alveolar ridge height is bigger in the group with classical dentures. The reduction degree of residual alveolar ridge is bigger in the group of immediate complete denture users in the first six months.

Artichoke wastes after processing represent 60–70% of the raw material and are a potential source of inulin and polyphenols, bioactive compounds that can be valorized as food ingredients or nutraceutical products. The aim of this work was to assess and optimize the extraction of these compounds from artichoke wastes using water or water–ethanol mixtures as extracting agents. For simultaneous inulin and polyphenol extraction and to achieve high antioxidant activity in extracts, the best process conditions using water as an extracting agent were T = 89 °C and t = 139 min, where 80% of the inulin content, 60% of the total phenolic content (TPC) and 56% of the antioxidant activity (Aox) were obtained. For water–ethanol extractions, the best results were obtained with EtOH = 22.4%, T = 81 °C and t = 217 min, leading to extraction yields of 90% of TPC, 38% of Aox and 58% of inulin content. From these results, we recommend the use of water for the recovery of inulin and polyphenols from artichoke wastes. Although the extraction yield of polyphenols is lower in water treatments, the amount extracted is considerable and it is a greener option when compared with water–ethanol mixtures.

The past few decades have seen a marked expansion in market demand for food supplements with therapeutic value. Due to this demand, the recovery of vine waste for obtaining certain phytochemicals or plant synthesized compounds with health-promoting activities can be an important economic component, principally with the agreement of the European Union for resveratrol as a new food ingredient. For the sake of economic capitalization, it is necessary to determine optimum extraction parameters for maximum recovery. In this paper, we have determined the optimum parameters for the solvent extraction of trans-resveratrol from vine prunings. We tested different extraction conditions: 35 different types of solvents, 10 types of solid-to-liquid ratios, 10 extraction times, 10 types of granulosity of the ground material and 7 consecutive extractions on the same material. The optimal parameters determined were: solvent ethanol:diethyl ether 4:1 ratio, 1:35 solid liquid ratio g/mL, 4 days for extraction time, 500 µm–350 µm granulosity of powdered material and one extraction on the material. These findings are confirmed by optimization of extracting parameters according to Box–Behnken design.

Abstract:
This study aims is to identify the level of integration of the female component in development actions at the level of the urban commune of Matamèye. It is based on an exploitation of the field data with the help of a maintenance guide, a questionnaire and the support of the Municipal Development Plan. The interview took place in the semi-structured form. It is clear that there are more than a hundred registered women's groups both in the commune and in the departmental service. These groups operate in the following activities: extraction of peanut oil, market gardening, manufacture of traditional spaghetti and garin yara. The promoters of these activities do not complain. Indeed, even if these results do not live up to expectations, we must encourage the initiatives of the municipality which try with little means to create a framework that allows these structures to evolve in complete independence. Nevertheless, there are conflicts of jurisdiction in the granting of official authorization to these groups between the supervisory authority and the newly elected administration. Each of the two parties believes that it is up to the municipality to issue them according to the local authorities code according to the ordinance n ° 2010-54 of 17 September 2010. That is why we say that the conflicts of competence between the supervisory authority and the newly elected government that often appear must not hamper local development actions, the principle for which decentralization has emerged.

Abstract:
Les approches actuelles de représentation des processus métiers s'appuient principalement sur les systèmes de workflow qui ordonnent les tâches selon une logique métier déterminée. Les systèmes de workflow, particulièrement nombreux sur le marché, souffrent, en revanche, de limites sérieuses dans l'évolution et la normalisation des processus métiers suite à leurs mises en exploitation. Par ce travail, nous contribuons à l'évolution et à la normalisation des processus métiers, à travers : - l'enrichissement du journal d'événements par des durées minimales et maximales. Notre philosophie est d'analyser le journal des événements avec le moins d'informations possibles (identité de l'instance, instant de fin, durée minimale, durée maximale, etc. ). - l'enrichissement de la description des processus métiers par des motifs de processus (diffusion (AND/XOR- split) et jointure AND/XOR-join)) et par des relations exceptionnelles (de continuité et de fin) entre les tâches, - la prise en compte des procédures de normalisation en cas d'échec de tâches, afm de fiabiliser au maximum les instances de processus. Nous ajoutons ainsi au niveau de représentation des processus, un niveau de représentation des relations exceptionnelles. La prise en compte à la fois de l'extraction des modèles de processus, enrichi des motifs de processus, et de la procédure de normalisation est un point important de notre travail de thèse. Les systèmes de workflow disponibles sur le marché ne supportent pas encore ce type de fonctionnalités. En effet, les méthodes traditionnelles de conception de processus se basent sur les perceptions des concepteurs, certainement expérimentées, mais n'impliquent pas les observations issues des usages réels. De plus, elles souffrent de l'absence de procédure d'évolution permettant d'optimiser la structure du workflow initialement conçue. La conception est globalement statique, alors qu'elle devrait être dynamique. En effet, il n'y a aucun intérêt de garder un modèle de processus qui ne répond pas aux besoins exprimés par les usages. Afin de répondre au besoin d'évolution et de normalisation des processus métiers, suite aux observations des usages ou tout simplement suite à de nouveaux besoins d'usages, nous avons spécifié une nouvelle étape d'évolution et de correction des processus par l'analyse du journal des événements.

Les malformations cardiaques congénitales sont la première cause de décès liés à une anomalie congénitale. L''electrocardiogramme du fœtus (ECGf), qui est censé contenir beaucoup plus d'informations par rapport aux méthodes échographiques conventionnelles, peut ˆêtre mesuré'e par des électrodes sur l'abdomen de la mère. Cependant, il est tr'es faible et mélangé avec plusieurs sources de bruit et interférence y compris l'ECG de la mère (ECGm) dont le niveau est très fort. Dans les études précédentes, plusieurs méthodes ont été proposées pour l'extraction de l'ECGf à partir des signaux enregistrés par des électrodes placées à la surface du corps de la mère. Cependant, ces méthodes nécessitent un nombre de capteurs important, et s'avèrent inefficaces avec un ou deux capteurs. Dans cette étude trois approches innovantes reposant sur une paramétrisation algébrique, statistique ou par variables d'état sont proposées. Ces trois méthodes mettent en œuvre des modélisations différentes de la quasi-périodicité du signal cardiaque. Dans la première approche, le signal cardiaque et sa variabilité sont modélisés par un filtre de Kalman. Dans la seconde approche, le signal est découpé en fenêtres selon les battements, et l'empilage constitue un tenseur dont on cherchera la décomposition. Dans la troisième approche, le signal n'est pas modélisé directement, mais il est considéré comme un processus Gaussien, caractérisé par ses statistiques à l'ordre deux. Dans les différentes modèles, contrairement aux études précédentes, l'ECGm et le (ou les) ECGf sont modélisés explicitement. Les performances des méthodes proposées, qui utilisent un nombre minimum de capteurs, sont évaluées sur des données synthétiques et des enregistrements réels, y compris les signaux cardiaques des fœtus jumeaux.

Cette thèse aborde le problème de l'extraction non supervisée des réseaux linéiques (routes, rivières, etc.) à partir d'images satellitaires et aériennes. Nous utilisons des processus objet, ou processus ponctuels marqués, comme modèles a priori. Ces modèles permettent de bénéficier de l'apport d'un cadre stochastique (robustesse au bruit, corpus algorithmique, etc.) tout en manipulant des contraintes géométriques fortes. Un recuit simulé sur un algorithme de type Monte Carlo par Chaîne de Markov (MCMC) permet une optimisation globale sur l'espace des configurations d'objets, indépendamment de l'initialisation.<br />Nous proposons tout d'abord une modélisation du réseau linéique par un processus dont les objets sont des segments interagissant entre eux. Le modèle a priori est construit de façon à exploiter au mieux la topologie du réseau recherche au travers de potentiels fondés sur la qualité de chaque interaction. Les propriétés radiométriques sont prises en compte dans un terme d'attache aux données fondé sur des mesures statistiques.<br />Nous étendons ensuite cette modélisation à des objets plus complexes. La manipulation de lignes brisées permet une extraction plus précise du réseau et améliore la détection des bifurcations.<br />Enfin, nous proposons une modélisation hiérarchique des réseaux hydrographiques dans laquelle les affluents d'un fleuve sont modélisés par un processus de lignes brisées dans le voisinage de ce fleuve.<br />Pour chacun des modèles, nous accélérons la convergence de l'algorithme MCMC par l'ajout de perturbations adaptées.<br />La pertinence de cette modélisation par processus objet est vérifiée sur des images satellitaires et aériennes, optiques et radar.

Les mots constituent l'un des fondements des langues naturelles de type indo-européenne. Des corpus rédigés avec ces langues sont alors naturellement décrits avec des mots. Cependant, l'information qu'ils véhiculent seuls est assez réduite d'un point de vue sémantique. Il est en effet primordial de prendre en compte la complexité de ces langues comme par exemple leurs propriétés syntaxiques, lexicales et sémantiques. Nous proposons dans cette thèse de prendre en considération ces propriétés en décrivant un corpus par le biais d'informations syntaxiques permettant de découvrir des connaissances sémantiques. Nous présentons dans un premier temps un modèle de sélection de descripteurs SelDe. Ce dernier se fonde sur les objets issus des relations syntaxiques d'un corpus. Le modèle SelDe a été évalué pour des tâches de classification de données textuelles. Pour cela, nous présentons une approche d'expansion de corpus, nommée ExpLSA, dont l'objectif est de combiner les informations syntaxiques fournies par SelDe et la méthode numérique LSA. Le modèle SelDe, bien que fournissant des descripteurs de bonne qualité, ne peut être appliqué avec tous types de données textuelles. Ainsi, nous décrivons dans cette thèse un ensemble d'approches adaptées aux données textuelles dites complexes. Nous étudions la qualité de ces méthodes avec des données syntaxiquement mal formulées et orthographiées, des données bruitées ou incomplètes et finalement des données dépourvues de syntaxe. Finalement un autre modèle de sélection de descripteurs, nommé SelDeF, est proposé. Ce dernier permet de valider de manière automatique des relations syntaxiques dites “induites”. Notre approche consiste à combiner deux méthodes. Une première approche fondée sur des vecteurs sémantiques utilise les ressources d'un thésaurus. Une seconde s'appuie sur les connaissances du Web et des mesures statistiques afin de valider les relations syntaxiques. Nous avons expérimenté SelDeF pour une tâche de construction et d'enrichissement de classes conceptuelles. Les résultats expérimentaux montrent la qualité des approches de validation et reflètent ainsi la qualité des classes conceptuelles construites.

Les mots constituent l'un des fondements des langues naturelles de type indo-européenne. Des corpus rédigés avec ces langues sont alors naturellement décrits avec des mots. Cependant, l'information qu'ils véhiculent seuls est assez réduite d'un point de vue sémantique. Il est en effet primordial de prendre en compte la complexité de ces langues comme par exemple leurs propriétés syntaxiques, lexicales et sémantiques. Nous proposons dans cette thèse de prendre en considération ces propriétés en décrivant un corpus par le biais d'informations syntaxiques permettant de découvrir des connaissances sémantiques. Nous présentons dans un premier temps un modèle de sélection de descripteurs SelDe. Ce dernier se fonde sur les objets issus des relations syntaxiques d'un corpus. Le modèle SelDe a été évalué pour des tâches de classification de données textuelles. Pour cela, nous présentons une approche d'expansion de corpus, nommée ExpLSA, dont l'objectif est de combiner les informations syntaxiques fournies par SelDe et la méthode numérique LSA. Le modèle SelDe, bien que fournissant des descripteurs de bonne qualité, ne peut être appliqué avec tous types de données textuelles. Ainsi, nous décrivons dans cette thèse un ensemble d'approches adaptées aux données textuelles dites complexes. Nous étudions la qualité de ces méthodes avec des données syntaxiquement mal formulées et orthographiées, des données bruitées ou incomplètes et finalement des données dépourvues de syntaxe. Finalement un autre modèle de sélection de descripteurs, nommé SelDeF, est proposé. Ce dernier permet de valider de manière automatique des relations syntaxiques dites “induites”. Notre approche consiste à combiner deux méthodes. Une première approche fondée sur des vecteurs sémantiques utilise les ressources d'un thésaurus. Une seconde s'appuie sur les connaissances du Web et des mesures statistiques afin de valider les relations syntaxiques. Nous avons expérimenté SelDeF pour une tâche de construction et d'enrichissement de classes conceptuelles. Les résultats expérimentaux montrent la qualité des approches de validation et reflètent ainsi la qualité des classes conceptuelles construites.

La multiplication de sources textuelles sur le Web offre un champ pour l'extraction de connaissances depuis des textes et à la création de bases de connaissances. Dernièrement, de nombreux travaux dans ce domaine sont apparus ou se sont intensifiés. De ce fait, il est nécessaire de faire collaborer des approches linguistiques, pour extraire certains concepts relatifs aux entités nommées, aspects temporels et spatiaux, à des méthodes issues des traitements sémantiques afin de faire ressortir la pertinence et la précision de l'information véhiculée. Cependant, les imperfections liées au langage naturel doivent être gérées de manière efficace. Pour ce faire, nous proposons une méthode pour qualifier et quantifier l'incertitude des différentes portions des textes analysés. Enfin, pour présenter un intérêt à l'échelle du Web, les traitements linguistiques doivent être multisources et interlingue. Cette thèse s'inscrit dans la globalité de cette problématique, c'est-à-dire que nos contributions couvrent aussi bien les aspects extraction et représentation de connaissances incertaines que la visualisation des graphes générés et leur interrogation. Les travaux de recherche se sont déroulés dans le cadre d'une bourse CIFRE impliquant le Laboratoire d'Informatique Gaspard Monge (LIGM) de l'Université Paris-Est Marne la Vallée et la société GEOLSemantics. Recently, several research works on this topic have appeared or intensified. They generally highlight that to extract relevant and precise information from text, it is necessary to define a collaboration between linguistic approaches, e.g., to extract certain concepts regarding named entities, temporal and spatial aspects, and methods originating from the field of semantics' processing. Moreover, successful approaches also need to qualify and quantify the uncertainty present in the text. Finally, in order to be relevant in the context of the Web, the linguistic processing need to be consider several sources in different languages. This PhD thesis tackles this problematic in its entirety since our contributions cover the extraction, representation of uncertain knowledge as well as the visualization of generated graphs and their querying. This research work has been conducted within a CIFRE funding involving the Laboratoire d'Informatique Gaspard Monge (LIGM) of the Université Paris-Est Marne la Vallée and the GEOLSemantics start-up. It was leveraging from years of accumulated experience in natural language processing (GeolSemantics) and semantics processing (LIGM).In this context, our contributions are the following:- the integration of a qualifation of different forms of uncertainty, based on ontology processing, within the knowledge extraction processing,- the quantification of uncertainties based on a set of heuristics,- a representation, using RDF graphs, of the extracted knowledge and their uncertainties,- an evaluation and an analysis of the results obtained using our approach

Ce travail démontre que l'étape la plus appropriée pour réaliser la récolte de la plante An̆il (Indigofea suffruticosa Mill) est environ 5 mois après le semis, à la fin de l'étape de croissance de la plante, car les rendements maxima de Poudre de Colorant Bleu (PCB) et indigo sont obtenus dans cette étape. Les meilleures conditions d'extraction obtenues sur des échantillons de feuille d'anil sèches sont les suivantes : relation matière première/solvant de 1:20 jusqu'à 1:6,5 ; temps d'extraction entre 6 et 8 heures ; température entre 25°C et 35°C ; pH du solvant 7 pour l'extraction de l'indigo et pH 12 pour extraire l'indigo et indirubine ; temps d'aération compris entre 10 et 30 mn, pH 8 pour l'aération. L'effet principal de l'application des ultrasons pendant l'extraction est la réduction du temps de 6 à 2 heures. L’objectif de cette thèse est de développer une nouvelle approche de détection d’objets 3D à partir d’une image 2D, prenant en compte les occultations et les phénomènes de perspective. Cette approche est fondée sur la théorie des processus ponctuels marqués, qui a fait ses preuves dans la solution de plusieurs problèmes en imagerie haute résolution. Le travail de la thèse est structuré en deux parties. Dans la première partie, nous proposons une nouvelle méthode probabiliste pour gérer les occultations et les effets de perspective. Le modèle proposé est fondé sur la simulation d’une scène 3D utilisant OpenGL sur une carte graphique (GPU). C’est une méthode orientée objet, intégrée dans le cadre d’un processus ponctuel marqué. Nous l’appliquons pour l’estimation de la taille d’une colonie de manchots, là où nous modélisons certaines configurations candidat composé d’objet 3D s’appuyant sur le plan réel. Une densité de Gibbs est définie sur l’espace des configurations, qui prend en compte des informations a priori et sur les données. Pour une configuration proposée, la scène est projetée sur le plan image, et les configurations sont modifiées jusqu’à convergence. Pour évaluer une configuration proposée, nous mesurons la similarité entre l’image projetée de la configuration projetée et l’image réelle, définissant ainsi le terme d’attache aux données et l’a priori pénalisant les recouvrements entre objets. Nous avons introduit des modifications dans l’algorithme d’optimisation pour prendre en compte les nouvelles dépendances qui existent dans notre modèle 3D. Nous proposons une nouvelle méthode d’optimisation appelée « Naissances et Coupe multiples » (Multiple Births and Cut » (MBC) en anglais). Cette méthode combine à la fois la nouvelle méthode d’optimisation « Naissance et mort multiples » (MBD) et les « Graph-Cut ». Les méthodes MBC et MBD sont utilisées pour l’optimisation d’un processus ponctuel marqué. This approach takes into consideration the occlusions and the perspective effects. This work has been embedded in a marked point process framework, proved to be efficient for solving many challenging problems dealing with high resolution images. The accomplished work during the thesis can be presented in two parts : In the first part, we propose a novel probabilistic approach to handle occlusions and perspective effects. The proposed method is based on 3D scene simulation on the GPU using OpenGL. It is an object based method embedded in a marked point process framework. We apply it for the size estimation of a penguin colony, where we model a penguin colony as an unknown number of 3D objects. The main idea of the proposed approach is to sample some candidate configurations consisting of 3D objects lying on the real plane. A Gibbs energy is define on the configuration space, which takes into account both prior and data information. The proposed configurations are projected onto the image plane, and the configurations are modified until convergence. To evaluate a proposed configuration, we measure the similarity between the projected image of the proposed configuration and the real image, by defining a data term and a prior term which penalize objects overlapping. We introduced modifications to the optimization algorithm to take into account new dependencies that exists in our 3D model. In the second part, we propose a new optimization method which we call “Multiple Births and Cut” (MBC). It combines the recently developed optimization algorithm Multiple Births and Deaths (MBD) and the Graph-Cut. MBD and MBC optimization methods are applied for the optimization of a marked point process. We compared the MBC to the MBD algorithms showing that the main advantage of our newly proposed algorithm is the reduction of the number of parameters, the speed of convergence and the quality of the obtained results. In order to optimize turning processes cutting forces need to be accurately predicted. This in turn requires accurate extraction of the geometry of tool-workpiece engagements (TWE) at critical points during machining. TWE extraction is challenging because the in-process workpiece geometry is continually changing as each tool pass is executed. This paper describes research on a hybrid analytical, solid modeler and feature-based methodology for extracting TWEs generated during general turning. While a pure solid modeler based solution can be developed it will be shown that because of the ability to capture different cutting tool inserts with similar geometry and to model the process in 2D, an analytical solution can be used instead of the solid modeler in many instances. This leads to more efficient computation during extraction. Further, by identifying features in the removal volumes where the engagement conditions are not changing or changing predictably additional enhancements in the efficiency of the TWE extraction can be achieved. The methodology developed will be demonstrated in extracting engagements for a typical industrial component. TWE extraction is one component in a Virtual Machining system currently under development.

Public access to government information is an important aspect of modern society that allows an active participation of the population in monitoring government actions. Decree No. 8.777, signed on May 11, 2016, establishes the Open Data Policy of the Brazilian Federal Government. From this, the entities of the federal public administration, autarchic and foundational are obliged to make data available in open format. However, many of these institutions are failing to meet the commitments set out in the Decree. One possible explanation for this low number is the need for the technical team to have a good knowledge of their information systems and current legislation, allied to the difficulty of extracting the data, since in most institutions the whole process of data extraction, processing and publication of open data is done manually. In this sense, this work presents the OpenData Processor, an automation tool for the process of extracting, publishing and updating open data that brings agility in the publication and periodical updating, saving time and facilitating the management of open data portals.

Interest in sustainable cost-effective and efficient extraction processes of plant-based matrices has risen due to health, environmental, and social concerns. The concurrent extraction of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates can be achieved by aqueous and enzymatic extraction processes, addressing low extractability by mechanical pressing and the use of flammable solvents. Being a source of proteins, starch, and fiber, chickpeas can be used as a matrix to generate added value compounds for food, feed, and fuel applications. The application of alkaline protease, preceded or not by carbohydrase pretreatments, was evaluated on the extractability of oil, protein, and carbohydrates from full-fat chickpea flour and protein functionality. Enzymatic extraction increased oil and protein extractability from 49.8 to 72.0–77.1% and 62.8 to 83.5–86.1%, respectively. Although the use of carbohydrase pretreatments, before the addition of protease, did not increase oil and protein extractability, it did increase the carbohydrate content of the extracts from 7.7 to 9.2–9.3 mg/mL, with the release of new oligosaccharides revealed by LC-MS/MS. Enzymatic extraction produced proteins with higher solubility (25.6 vs. 68.2–73.6%) and in vitro protein digestibility (83.8 vs. 90.79–94.7%). Post-extraction -galactosidase treatment of the extracts completely hydrolyzed flatulence-causing oligosaccharides into simple sugars. However, because high water usage is a requirement to maximize extractability in single-stage extractions, a two-stage countercurrent extraction process was developed to reduce water usage without loss in extractability. Countercurrent extraction reduced ~50% of the water used in the extraction while increasing oil and protein extractability to 95.8 and 95.7%, respectively. Techno-economic analysis demonstrated improved annual profitability of the countercurrent process despite its higher operating costs. This study highlights the effectiveness of solvent-free enzymatic strategies to maximize process extractability and feasibility, shedding light on the development of a more competitive process to produce chickpea proteins, lipids, and potential prebiotic oligosaccharides for subsequent industrial applications.

This paper presents results from large displacement finite element analysis for spudcan foundation penetrating into and extracting from normally consolidated (NC) clay. The soil was idealized as an elastic-perfectly plastic material obeying a Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion and the large displacement analysis was carried out using Remeshing and Interpolating Technique with Small Strain (RITSS) model to simulate the full installation and extraction process. The numerical results were compared with centrifuge model test data and existing analytical solutions. A full parametric study was undertaken to quantify the influence on spudcan extraction process from soil strength profile, foundation interface roughness and penetration depth. The extraction results showed that the normalized uplift resistance after spudcan installation was much lower than that from small strain analysis, and it was also lower than that of pre-embedded case. Thus it is necessary to apply RITSS method in spudcan extraction simulation after installation.

Abstract This paper presents a view of feature extraction as a process that involves consideration of manufacturing tools, processes and the fixtures to be used. This view is implemented in MEDIATOR. Some feature extractors use almost entirely geometric considerations [29], others use process and tool information which is often implicitly encoded in the data structures to help guide the feature extraction process. Our view of feature extraction is similar to the second approach in that process and tool information is also used. However, we take this approach one step further and also use fixture information to determine features. The reason behind this is that a feature is considered relevant because there is a method for producing it in the task domain. The set of possible tools, tool motions and fixtures that can be used is generated during feature extraction in MEDIATOR and selection of specific fixture and details are done later in process planning. Advantages of this method include the ability to use task information to strongly constrain the search for valid features, increased likelihood that features recognized will be manufacturable and directly usable by the process planner, and ease of modifying the feature extractor.

The machine designed at a low cost can shake off pollen from catkins cleaner and faster than other devices. The extractor can shake the pollen and clean the seeds faster by assembling a 6-volt DC gearbox motor, a drive wheel to stabilize the rotation of the extractor, and a vibrator to help shaking the pollen during the filtration process. The design idea is modeled in Autodesk Inventor and safety-factor-based design calculations are carried out, mechatronic circuits are designed and further CFD and FEA simulations are performed in Ansys to verify the validity of the design. The rotational speed of the extractor is selected based on the required motion for particles. After completion of the preliminary analysis, the design changes are passed through another round of testing. The first round of testing produced a positive change, eliminating some material, and lowering cost. Second round showed promising results with speeding up extraction time. Final design, prototype and successful testing results of the extractor is presented in the paper with concluding remarks and future work.

A computational fluid dynamics model of supercritical fluid extraction of a solute (caffeine) from a fixed bed of porous solid matrix (coffee beans) using a supercritical solvent (carbon dioxide) is developed. The mathematical model is developed considering diffusion-controlled transport in the particle and film mass transfer resistance around the particle. Accurate representations of the transport properties of supercritical carbon dioxide are considered. The conservation equations are numerically solved using an implicit finite volume method. Supercritical fluid extraction of a solute from a solid matrix has a slow dynamics even when solute free solvent is re-circulated and therefore improvements in the mass transfer process are required. The effect of acoustically excited flows on supercritical fluid extraction in a fixed bed extractor is investigated. Harmonically oscillating inlet wall boundary condition is used to model a piezoelectric transducer. The use of acoustic excitation represents a potential efficient way of enhancing mass transfer processes. Application of acoustic excitations at the fundamental frequency of the extractor (f = 996 Hz) increased the overall yield by about 15%. The effects produced by compressions and decompressions, as well as by radiation pressure and streaming contribute to the enhancements.

To reduce the long-term risk of the high-level liquid waste (HLLW) and the waste disposal cost, transuranium (TRU) elements should be removed from HLLW. A so-called TRPO process has been developed by Chinese scientists to partition HLLW. In this process, the extractant, trialkyl phosphine oxide (TRPO), is able to extract TRU elements into organic phase completely, which makes the treatment and disposal of raffinate HLLW much easier. However, the treatment of extracted TRU elements in organic phase, in return, becomes new troublesome issue. Generally, there are three promising ways to treat the extracted TRU elements: (1)transmutation; (2)conditioning; (3)recycling U+Pu in Purex-TRPO Integrated Process. In any of the three ways, the back extraction agents and processes play significant roles. In this paper, the investigations on back extraction agents for TRU elements, such as TTHA, DTPA, AHA, HEDPA, DOGA, and carbonates are introduced. The corresponding back extraction processes and experimental results are reviewed.

Abstract. Green extraction method by combination of stirring method with no presence of heat and the use of aqueous as solvent were highlighted in this study. Various solvents (aqueous, chloroform, ethyl acetate, hexane and methanol) and two extraction methods (stirring and Soxhlet) were used to study their effect on the yield, qualitative phytochemical content, and antioxidant properties of Diplazium esculentum Retz. and Stenochlaena palustris. Stirring extraction method in aqueous has shown to provide highest yield in both plant species with D. esculentum at 8.88% and S. palustris at 9.40%. Saponin was also seen present in both aqueous extracts qualitatively. In the case of FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) assay, aqueous extract of D. esculentum (DEA) had the highest value with 687.57 + 0.01 μg Fe(II)E/ml, while stirring method in various solvents had shown to produce high antioxidant activities compared to Soxhlet method. This study revealed that aqueous extracts by stirring method is a promising method for extraction of plant materials and at the same time leading towards a green environment.

In the path towards decarbonization, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are critical for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems. To meet the growing demand for this mineral, various sources of lithium are being explored. This study evaluated the technical and economic feasibility of direct lithium extraction (DLE) from flowback and produced waters (FPW) of the Duvernay shale reservoir development near Fox Creek, Alberta and the Montney tight reservoir development in Northeast British Columbia using ion-exchange sorbents. Results indicate that lithium extraction from FPW using DLE technology is a viable option, with fluid pH, temperature, total suspended solids, and organic carbon affecting extraction efficiencies. In the assessment of Duvernay-based FPW fluids processed at a selected centralized facility, approximately 93 tonnes of lithium carbonate, or 105 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate could be produced annually, based on an average lithium content of 45.1 mg/L and a capacity of approximately 475,000 m3 per year. A discounted cash flow analysis determined the after-tax and royalty internal rate of return of 22% in the production of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3), and 38% in the production of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH·H2O) from the Duvernay development area. Comparatively, in the assessment of Montney brine fluids processed at a modelled centralized facility, approximately 117 tonnes of lithium carbonate or 134 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate could be produced annually, based on an average lithium content of 57.7 mg/L and a capacity of approximately 475,000 m3 per year. A discounted cash flow analysis determined the after-tax and royalty internal rate of return of 29% in the production of lithium carbonate and 48% in the production of lithium hydroxide monohydrate from the Dawson Creek Montney development area. These findings demonstrate the economic feasibility of extracting and refining lithium into battery-grade products from a novel source based on forecasted commodity prices and the development of a domestic battery supply chain system. Further investigation of DLE technology, a strategic resource sampling and analysis program, and investigation into the minimum scale of lithium extraction development are recommended.
