Abstract:
Oil extraction in Nigeria has caused extensive environmental degradation and health problems in many Nigerian communities, particularly in the ecologically sensitive Niger Delta where nearly all of the oil extraction takes place. The reasons for this are complex and have roots in Nigeria’s colonial past. The Nigerian economy is largely reliant on its petroleum resources which, in conjunction with governmental corruption and high international demand for Nigerian oil, has created a system where environmental externalities are largely ignored. Abstract:
A large number of herb materials contain Essential Oils with extensive bioactivities. Acknowledging the importance of plants and its medicinal value, extraction of Essential Oil had been done using Steam Distillation method. In this project Steam Distillation was used to extract oil from different plant materials like eucalyptus leaves, curry leaves, hibiscus leaves, lemon leaves, marigold flowers, rose flowers, orange peels etc. Research has confirmed centuries of practical use of essential oils, and we now know that the 'fragrant pharmacy' contains compounds with an extremely broad range of

Abstract:
Essential oils are highly concentrated substances extracted from flowers, leaves, stems, roots, seeds, barks, resins, or fruit rinds. These oils are often used for their flavor and their therapeutic or odoriferous properties, in a wide selection of products such as foods, medicines, and cosmetics. Extraction of essential oils is one of the most time- and effortconsuming processes. The way in which oils are extracted from plants is important because some processes use solvents that can destroy the therapeutic properties. There are wide number of ways to extract the Essential oil but the quality

The feasibility and efficiency of various rapeseed oil extraction systems with hexane, ethanol and water as solvents were studied and compared. Mathematical model of multi-stage counter-current-flow extraction was build and verified in this research. Six-stage counter-current-flow extraction experiments were carried with two different solvent to raffinate ratio (E/R) i.e. E/R=4, 8. A better result was found with E/R=4, that gave 90% in oil recovery and 8~9% (w/w) oil concentratio

Abstract:
Soybean oil was extracted from soybean flakes and porous alumina spheres by hexane and isopropanol. Extraction of oil from alumina spheres was normal in terms of appropriate PDE solutions of Fick's second law of diffusion. Extraction of oil from flakes agreed with Fick's second law of diffusion for short extraction times, but deviated significantly from the standard diffusion behavior at long times. In spite of its apparent complexity, the solvent extraction of oil from flaked oilseeds appears to be a linear diffusion process and the diffusivity appears to be independent of oil concentration.
