Abstract:
Corrosion inhibitors are widely used to mitigate the corrosion process of carbon steel in acidic media. However, there is a growing concern about the toxicity, biodegradability, and bioaccumulation of corrosion inhibitors released into the environment. The need for environmental preservation requires the immediate replacement of toxic inhibitors with less aggressive ones. Extracts from plants and other natural wastes became interesting candidates for potential green corrosion inhibitors. The use of natural products as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel, mainly in acidic environments, has be

Phytoremediation technology is environmentally friendly and inexpensive to clean soils of harmful toxins. The study aims to introduce phytoremediation of arsenic in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions to restore soil fertility. For this study, three plants, Amaranthus gangeticus, Chenopodium album and Helianthus annuus, were selected for the accumulation and translocation of Arsenic from the contaminated soil. The seeds of selected plants were treated with the bioactivator Biorag to increase the plant's green mass. Plants were sown in May and harvested in August and October. Plants w

Anti biotic resistant bacteria have posed a serious threat to world health in recent years, forcing the investigation of alternate sources for anti bacterials. Higher plants are a key source of medicinal compounds. The objective of this study was to evaluate the anti bacterial properties of C. speciosus against gram-negative E. coli and gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, to explore its potential as a natural alternative to conventional anti bioti cs. Leaves, stems, and rhizomes of C. speciosus were extracted using hexane, methanol, and water as solvents with reflux, sonication and maceratio.

Abstract:
Pomolic acid (PA) is a pentacyclic triterpenic acid isolated from apples by Brieskorn and Wunderer in 1967 [1]. Its highly relevant biological activity profile came recently into focus and there have been many reports on the content of PA in different plant sources [2]. Quite surprisingly, the general perception of low PA content in plants persists and this information hinders its broader investigation as a compound of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical potential. The main aim of the current work was quantitative determination of pomolic acid in apple pomace by two-dimensional heteronuclear NMR

The amino acid composition in the hydrolysates of fish proves to be a most promising source of protein. Two extracts from fish by-products (P1, from the head and fins of sturgeon and P2, from the cartilage of sturgeon head and fins) were obtained as liquids that were dried at 40°C. Liquid extracts were characterized physico-chemically (dry matter 3.86% and 4.25%, protein content 1.44% and 3.25%), and particle size (247nm, 94% and 4148nm, 65% majority populations for P1 and P2) and zeta potential (-27.4mV and -15.8mV) were measured. The smaller particle size for the P1 extract led to its choice

We investigated the possible attraction of species of Helicoverpa and Heliothis to host plant odors and to male pheromone as a prelude to a larger investigation of host chemical effects on moth sexual and reproductive behavior. Both sexes of H. armigera and H. peltigera were attracted to particular host plants or host plant extracts. Heliothis virescens was also found to be attracted to a flowering shrub it may use as a nectar source. Unmated females of H. armigera and H. peltigera were attracted to live males and to a male pheromone extract prepared from exposed filter papers in cages of male

Innate immune responses in animals and plants involve receptors that recognize microbe-associated molecules. In plants, one set of this defense system is characterized by large families of TIR–nucleotide binding site–leucine-rich repeat (TIR-NBS-LRR) resistance genes. The direct interaction between plant proteins harboring the TIR domain with proteins that transmit and facilitate a signaling pathway has yet to be shown. The Arabidopsis genome encodes TIR-domain containing genes that lack NBS and LRR whose functions are unknown. Here we investigated the functional role of such protein, TLW1 (TI

Review question / Objective: The aim of this review is to examine inhibitory effect of functional components in extracts from edible nuts on α-glucosidase activity. At the end of this review the following questions will be addressed by summarizing data of in-vitro studies: which nut extract has the strongest inhibitory effect? Which functional component (e.g. polyphenols) has the strongest inhibitory effect against α-glucosidase? Are there any differences between inhibition of α-glucosidase from different sources (e.g. yeast and mammalian)? Condition being studied: Any papers looking at inhibi

The objective is to develop and evaluate environmental benign agents or products that are effective in the prevention, inhibition, and mitigation of microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) on the internal surfaces of metallic natural gas pipelines. The goal is one or more products that can be applied to maintain the structure and dependability of the natural gas infrastructure. The technical approach for this year has been to evaluate a number of methods to fractionate and concentrate the components found in the pepper extracts.
