Furthermore, extraversion is based on other-directed learning with respect to COVID-19 coping, and this has not been considered regarding its contrast to self-directed learning. Psychologists claim that extraversion is a disadvantage for learning on the ground that an extravert has "less cortical arousal", is more easily "inhibited" and has a "limited long term memory". In contrast, many applied linguists predict that extraversion is an advantage for learning a second/foreign language on the assumption that an extravert elicits more "input" and produces more "output". Two groups of subjects, 10 who liked rock music ( M age = 22.4 yr.) and 10 who disliked rock music ( M age = 21.9 yr.), were tested. Subjects were instructed to assign numerical values to a random series of nine suprathreshold intensity levels of a 10-sec. sample of rock music. Each subject was given the Eysenck Personality Inventory, a test designed to measure the personality trait of extraversion/introversion. Statistica

To determine whether personality in dreams exhibits a compensatory or a continuous relationship with waking personality, one dream from each of 100 undergraduate women was analysed with an extraversion scale derived from the Eysenck Personality Inventory. The dream extraversion scores were correlated with the subjects' corresponding extraversion score on Eysenck's inventory. The over-all coefficient (.14) was nonsignificant; however, when subjects were divided into high and low neuroticism groups, the low scorers' r was negative and significant (-.29) but that of the high scorers was not (.12)

Whereas much research on these short-term experiences relevant to personality has been done in samples of college students, this study intended to measure personality-relevant short-term experiences among an age-heterogeneous sample of adults. As part the Effects of Stress on Cognitive Aging, Physiology, and Emotions study, 260 participants (Mage=46.49 years, range=25-65 years) completed a measure of Big Five personality traits before completing
