Abstract:
Abstract:In 1940, the British Admiralty detained a British passenger ship sailing from Lisbon to New York at the port of Hamilton, Bermuda, for a contraband search. Customs authorities seized four crates containing hundreds of artworks by leading European artists. Suspected of being sent to New York for sale by the French art dealer Martin Fabiani for the economic benefit of German-occupied France, the captured collection—originally the property of art dealer Ambroise Vollard—was confiscated as a prize of war and sent to Ottawa, Canada, for wartime safekeeping. The National Gallery of Canada stored the collection from 1940 to 1949, when British courts instructed the collection’s Canadian custodian to release it to its rightful owners, Fabiani and the Vollard heirs. This essay reframes the wartime journey of the Vollard-Fabiani collection and challenges the long-held notion that it belongs to the narrative of Nazi-looted cultural property. This essay also highlights an important role played by the National Gallery of Canada during World War II.

Abstract:
TThese research inquiries into the transformation of complex architectural spatial objects into contemporary garments by implementing creative pattern cutting as an integrated part of the fashion design process. From the architecture design process, a creative process of generating ideas using the human body as the centre point of the creative process, and an understanding of the envelope around that space were implemented and researched in fashion design. A creative construction method evolved using the standard matrix of basic blocks and implementation of the sculptural work by creating three-dimensional paper garment forms. In this way, garment design is created inside - outside. The resulting garment forms visually articulate meanings arising from the architectural design works of Maks Fabiani regarding structure, historical context, content from within the premises and personal sensory experiences. The envisaged results are highly applicable, but, with a theoretical significance, they also open different views on a fashion design development process. The Ƒ2 (Fabiani Fashion) case study was carried out in 2015 by the author Tanja Devetak.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The main goal of this thesis is to present contemporary contemporary slovenian architectural scene to the Czech audience. Since the fall of Iron curtain is the slovenian architecture regarded as the most advanced from the former Eastern bloc. During the stay in Slovenia it's succeeded to collect sufficient informations for further analysis. Daily contact with the local culture and buildings helped in understanding of the current situation in the Slovenian architectural scene. The work provides the most important architectural works from Fabiani through Plečnik, Ravnikar, Podrecca to successors of generation Sixpack. The aim of this work is to help document and analyze the causes of Slovenia success and with this conclusion help to improve the situation in our country, where there is a wide range of high-quality buildings, but they remain almost unnoticed and unknown on the international scene. The study focused which role played the biggest importance in starting Slovenian model. Work search if it's possible to re-establish cooperation in the field of architecture. The aim of these was to find out how to apply the knowledge acquired in the Czech environment. Lessons from Slovenia could be summarized in two main areas: how to successfully cultivate their land and about how to be able to report about it externally.

Abstract:
This thesis is a cultural history of the early Fabian Society, focusing on the decades between 1884, the Society’s inaugural year, and 1914. The canonical view is that ‘Fabianism,’ which the Oxford English Dictionary defines as the ‘doctrine and principles of the Fabian Society,’ is synonymous with State socialism and bureaucratic ‘efficiency.’ By bringing the methods of cultural history to bear on the Society’s founding members and decades, this thesis reveals that ‘Fabianism’ was in fact used as a dynamic metonymy, not a fixed doctrine, which signified a range of cultural, and even literary, meanings for British commentators in the 1890s and 1900s (Part 1). Further, by expanding the scope of traditional histories of the Fabian Society, which conventionally operate within political and economic sub-fields and focus on the Society’s ‘official’ literature, to include a close examination of the broader discursive context in which ‘Fabianism’ came into being, this thesis sets out to recover the symbolic aspects of the Fabians’ efforts to negotiate what ‘Fabianism’ meant to the English reading public. The Fabians’ conspicuous leadership in the modern education debates and the liberal fight for a ‘free stage,’ and their solidarity with the international political émigrés living in London at the turn of the twentieth century all contribute to this revised perspective on who the founding Fabians were, what they saw themselves as trying to achieve, and where the Fabian Society belonged—and was perceived to belong—in relation to British politics, culture, and society (Part 2). The original contribution of this thesis is the argument that the Fabians explicitly and implicitly evoked Matthew Arnold as a precursor in their efforts to articulate a kind of Fabian—latterly social-democratic—liberalism and a public vocation that balanced English liberties and the duty of the State to provide the ‘best’ for its citizens in education and in culture, as in politics.

Abstract:
This study discusses the diverse entrepreneurial trends that concert pianists are pursuing to complement their performing careers. These trends include musical endeavors such as organizing festivals, recital series, pedagogical workshops, making performer’s editions of piano literature, learning and recording unfamiliar repertoire, commissioning new works, and performing new music. The study includes eight interviews with concert pianists and four interviews with artist managers. The managers’ responses provide additional perspectives on how entrepreneurial pursuits can impact a pianist’s career. The study also provides an overview of music entrepreneurship in higher education and presents a variety of educational resources for further research on the topic. The purpose of this study is to present the various paths that can be included into the traditional model of being a concert pianist. As this study demonstrates, these entrepreneurial trends help pianists create opportunities for themselves and sustain a performing career.

This dissertation interprets the novel Vidas secas according to the perspective of the dialogism, derived from the consciousness sketched by rudimentary characters and the Graciliano Ramos interest of revealing the perception of these characters not only by themselves, but also by the surrounding reality. For this reason, the studies of Mikhail Bakhtin constitute the theoretical basis of this research because Vidas secas presents the principles of the polyphonic novel: reality s information, lack of conclusion, dialogism, and polyphony. Our object of study Fabiano character has an interior conflict, asking himself about his identities and his action in the world. It is an aspect of the dialogic character because, to Bakhtin, the consciousness begins where the dialogue begins. Moreover, Fabiano is not the interpreter of the author, he has independence and freedom to expose the opinions and to take decisions. Vidas secas is constituted basically by interior monologue and the dialogic character is formed by a process of interactive communication. How is going to happen the Fabiano s consciousness of himself? We understand that the narrator uses the free indirect discourse to stage the thoughts of the character in an authentic way because by this double-voiced word it was possible to offer the voice to the one without it but indicating the tonal a difference between the point of view of the narrator, owner of the word, and the character, that has not that word. In the novel, we face this ambivalent and dialogical discourse in which we listen to two voices the Fabiano s one and narrator s one that build dialogic relations, sometimes in consonance, sometimes in dissonance, and it turns Vidas secas a plurilingual spectacle

Abstract:
In a field experiment, it was established that of the three herbicides we studied in soybean crops, Dual Gold is the most effective. Its use increases, in comparison with the control, the number of beans per plant by 2.2 times, the number of seeds by 2.4 times, and the mass of seeds by 2.9 times. The least efficient is Fabian. In terms of most indicators of the yield structure, it is reliably inferior to Dual Gold. Zenkor is slightly inferior in efficiency to Dual Gold. The differences between them are not reliable. High efficiency (at the level of Dual Gold) was shown by the combined use of Zenkor and Fabian herbicides in doses reduced by 20%.

Abstract:
Two-phase slug flow is present in many industrial processes, such as the exploitation and transportation of hydrocarbon mixtures from oil wells. This kind of flow is characterized by two distinct structures which repeat intermittently: a liquid slug with a large amount of momentum followed by a compressible gas bubble. In recent decades, a few models for simulating such complex flows were developed, as the eulerian two-fluid model and drift flux, and the lagrangian slug tracking. The aim of this work is to present a detailed study on the numerical implementation of the hybrid model proposed by Fabien Renault and Nydal which is able to track down waves that arise in the gas-liquid interface and possible slugs generated by them. This model was developed from the two-fluid model equations in which the motion generated by the dynamic pressure of the gas on the slugs is decoupled from the slow movement of the liquid below the gas. The movement of the bubbles in the liquid is then modeled similarly to shallow-water equations. The solution of the equation set is achieved in two steps. The first step provides the pressure field and the gas flow through the numerical solution of the equations for the gas, using the finite difference method. The second step solves the adapted shallow-water equations analytically. The model was coded in object-oriented Intel Visual Fortran95. Simulations to analyze the ability of the code to generate slugs for some pairs of water-air superficial velocities at atmospheric pressure were carried out. The results, as the distribution of the slug length, frequency and average values were compared to experimental results reported in the literature.
