Abstract:
The fishermen are constantly faced with various challenges when working. In the challenges they face, they believe a supreme power will guide them in their work. The work experience of fishers with different challenges becomes a medium to build an understanding of God. This study aims to see how fishers understand God based on work experience. This study uses qualitative research methods with in-depth interview techniques, observation, and literature study. After collecting the data, the next step is to analyze the data based on the practical model. The study results found that the fishermen experienced God through storms, waves, and bad weather. The experience becomes a way to share and interpreting God in their lives. The catch of the fishermen also gives an understanding of God, who gives blessings to their lives. Through this reality, the fishermen rely on God to provide them with blessings, join in the work, and answer their prayers. God is the Source of Hope, and this is an attempt to contextualize theology based on the work experience of the fishermen. Putting hope in God is a form of faith in God's promises and inclusion.

Abstract:
AbstractRachel Neis' article treats Hekhalot Rabbati, a collection of early Jewish mystical traditions, and more specifically §§ 152–169, a series of Qedusha hymns. These hymns are liturgical performances, the highlight of which is God's passionate embrace of the Jacob icon on his throne as triggered by Israel's utterance of the Qedusha. §§ 152–169 also set forth an ocular choreography such that the gazes of Israel and God are exchanged during the recitation of the Qedusha. The article set these traditions within the history of similar Jewish traditions preserved in Rabbinic literature. It will be argued that §§ 152–169 date to the early Byzantine period, reflecting a Jewish interest in images of the sacred parallel to the contemporaneous Christian intensification of the cult of images and preoccupation with the nature of religious images.

Abstract:
AbstractThe crux of Moses' shining face in Ex. xxxiv is explained by first-millennium Mesopotamian astronomical and lexical sources which attest an ancient understanding of light as material. Moses' face could, quite literally, radiate horns of light, and the need to translate the term as either divine radiance or physical protuberance is a side-effect of modern conceptual categories, irrelevant to ancient Israelite ideas. Furthermore, the well known ancient Jewish tradition of Moses' coronation, and his divine physical transformation attested in newly published Midrashic sources suggests an authentic ancient reading of the text that resolves the contradiction between Ex. xxxiii and xxxiv. While no human could see God and live, in Ex. xxxiv, the Israelites recoil from a transformed Moses who is no longer precisely human.

Abstract:
Based on a cross-analysis of the memoir testimony of V. V. Timofeeva (O. Pochinkovskaya) and the materials of Dostoevsky’s creative laboratory, the article establishes the fact of the writer’s prayerful veneration of The Sign, the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, located at the St. Petersburg Znamenskaya (Entrance to Jerusalem) Church on Nevsky Prospect, as well as Dostoevsky’s intention (not realized in one of the episodes of the novel “A Raw Youth”) to portray the main character, Arkady Dolgoruky, at prayer before this miraculous image. When commenting on the draft entry of “The Dark Face of the Virgin at the Znamenskaya Church,” it was discovered there were not one, but two venerated icons of the Sign of the Mother of God in the temple on Nevsky Prospect in the 1870s, Both were replicas of the 12th-century miraculous Novgorod icon of the Sign. One of the replicas dates back to 1175 in the church historical literature, the second — to 1744. Based on an analytical review of the information about these two icons, the article substantiates the assumption regarding which of the two icons is mentioned in the drafts of “A Raw Youth,” as well as which one of them was the object of Dostoevsky’s fervent prayer. The current location of one of these icons is indicated.

Abstract:
In Tamil Nadu, literature is one of the prime sources of information on religion, culture, history, philosophy, social customs, beliefs, etc. Literature that originated in the history of Tamil Nadu from time to time identifies the unique features of those times. In the development of Tamil literature, the period in which moral literature originated is called the Moral Era distinctively, which is the same time where many philosophical works of literature refer to the period of origin as the period of philosophical ethics. This study reveals the uniqueness and the generalities of God as claimed in Thirukkural and the God as portrayed in the literature of Thiruvarutpayan that originated in the philosophical period. In particular, this article gives a comparative basis for the ideas that come to mind in the 36th chapter on the power of realization in Thirukkural, and on the three elements that can be found in Thiruvarutpayana, viz., God, Life, and affection.

Abstract:
“Better is to live one day virtuous and meditative than to live a hundred years immoral and uncontrolled” (The Buddha)
Bhakti movement in India has been a path-breaking phenomenon that provided a solid shape and an identifiable face to the abstractions with the help of vernacular language. As a religious movement, it emphasized a strong personal and emotional bond between devotees and a personal God. It has come from the Sanskrit word Bhaj- ‘to share’. It began as a tradition of devotional songs, hagiographical or philosophical – religious texts which have generated a common ground for people of all the sects in the society to come together. As counterculture, it embraced into its fold all sections of people breaking the barriers of caste, class, community, and gender. It added an inclusive dimension to the hitherto privileged, exclusivist, Upanishadic tradition. It has provided a very critical outlook on contemporary Brahminical orthodoxy and played a crucial role in the emergence of modern poetry in India. This paper elaborates on the positioning of the Bhakti Movement in the context of Protest narratives in India.

Cvetković, Carmen Angela. "Seeking the Face of God : a study on Augustine's reception in the mystical thought of Bernard of Clairvaux and William of St. Thierry." Thesis, University of St Andrews, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/10023/1213.

Full text
Abstract:
The present thesis examines the way in which two twelfth century authors, the Cistercian monks, Bernard of Clairvaux (1091-1153) and William of St. Thierry (c. 1080-1148), used Augustine (354-430) in the articulation of their mystical thought. The approach to this subject takes into account the fact that in the works of all these medieval authors the “mystical” element is inescapably entangled with their theological discourse and that an accurate understanding of their views on the soul’s direct encounter with God cannot be achieved without a discussion of their theology. This thesis posits that the cohesion of Bernard’s and William’s mystical thought lies in their appropriation of the guiding principle of Augustine’s mystical theology: “You made us for yourself and our heart is restless until it rests in you” (conf. 1.1.1), reflected in the subtle interplay of three main themes, namely (1) the creation of humanity in the image and likeness of God, which provides the grounds for the understanding of the soul’s search for direct contact with God; (2) love as a longing innate in every human being, which explores the means to attain immediacy with God; and (3) the soul’s direct encounter with God, which discusses the nature of the soul’s immediate experience of the divine presence that can only be achieved in lasting fullness at the end of time. This examination of Bernard’s and William’s use of Augustine is structured on the basis of these three core themes which form the scaffolding of their mystical thought. Investigating the specific methods of their reception of Augustine will highlight the originality and uniqueness of each of the two Cistercian authors, who while drawing on the same patristic source use it nevertheless in various ways, by focussing on different aspects of Augustine’s immense oeuvre and by arriving at distinct mystical programmes.

The question about the images of God challenges several pillars of faith and tradition. Perhaps the undestanding of Revelation is the first and most important one. Considering that, an itinerary arises, and this work intends to follow it, pointing few consequences for the faith and for the experience of this faith. There is no possibility anymore to strenghten a fantastic speech as justification or legitimization for a selfish acting. Not if we focus on the necessary transformation of the God s image, that doesn t punish, doesn t interfere, doesn t select only a few ones. Overcoming the limits of an external and intervenor god generates a new attitude from that one who has faith. This research, follows this path for to release the concepts about God, by pointing as consequences the dialogue with God and with each other, the human autonomy, freedom and the responsabily that comes from that, about the worl and all reality created by God. For that purpose, this dissertation compares and analyses different authors about the subjects matters, granting a large space to reflection of Andrés Torres Queiruga.

Heilpern, Anya Elizabeth. "See God face to face : pray for the King : the painted glass of Winchester Cathedral, c1495-c1515." Thesis, University of York, 2017. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/19538/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is the first detailed modern study of the painted glass installed in the Lady Chapel and presbytery of Winchester Cathedral between c1495 and c1515. The thesis sets the Winchester glass in its wider artistic context. It confirms the glass as a key example of the glass painting style popular at this period, which has been described elsewhere as “Anglo-Netherlandish”, preferring to label it more broadly “Anglo-Continental”. It then describes the physical context for the glass within the cathedral. It considers the building schemes of which the glazing formed part, and discusses new research which helps to date the glass. The analysis of the earlier glass in the presbytery contributes to the debate on the dating of the presbytery clerestory windows. Much of the glass is lost, dispersed, and jumbled, so a crucial task has been to try to reconstruct as much of the subject matter and layout as possible. The thesis also considers what the glass may have meant to its audience, showing how effectively the schemes supported the liturgy. The thesis concludes with a broad discussion on patronage, suggesting the intellectual and social context within which the glass was commissioned. It is argued that the glass was part of a programme of royal commemoration, which was widespread and obligatory under Henry VII. New circumstantial evidence supports the possibility of contributions to the Lady Chapel works by the king, by courtiers and by Bishop Langton. It is proposed that Langton is likely to have been a significant influence on the Lady Chapel glass. Bishop Fox’s contribution to the presbytery work is defined more closely than previously. It is argued that Fox’s glazing, depicting traditional subjects in the most up to date painting style, was part of his attempt to reinvigorate the church on the eve of the Reformation.

Agora, quando se põem duas obras de grande valor estético frente a frente, o que sói acontecer é uma ajudar a ler a outra, por isso, nossa abordagem deixa de ser unilateral para privilegiar uma relação de leitura mútua, dando destaque às mais variadas consequências disso.<br>Explore other ways, until now little followed in order to participate in a meaningful way to the debate about the intelligibility of Macunaíma, this can be taken as the shaft that drives this comparative study. To carry out this comparative research we appeal to Kaydara, not only because it is a masterpiece of african french literature, but also because it brings - the look of the inside of a traditional african society, capable to converse with the brazilian literature, point to shed light on some cultural elements of afro-brazilian origin present in it. So we have been diving in what the vast majority of african societies consider his reference in antiquity: Ancient Egypt. Afsaruddin, Asma. "STRIVING IN THE PATH OF GOD: FETHULLAH GÜLEN’S VIEWS ON JIHAD." In Muslim World in Transition: Contributions of the Gülen Movement. Leeds Metropolitan University Press, 2007. http://dx.doi.org/10.55207/vvrp6737.

Full text
Abstract:
Jihad (‘struggle’, ‘striving’) in the Qur’an and Sunnah is a term with multiple inflections. The reiterated Qur’anic phrase al-jihad fi sabil Allah (‘striving in the path of God’) allows for that striving to be accomplished in myriad ways. After surveying a range of exegeses of relevant Qur’anic verses and early hadith works, the paper shows how fully Fethullah Gülen’s empha- sis on jihad as a means of personal, moral, spiritual and social renewal and transformation is in line with the earliest meanings found in exegetical and hadith works. Such a traditional, historical understanding runs counter to recent, polemical assertions that jihad is a monova- lent term requiring unremitting armed combat against non-Muslims. The paper demonstrates that contemporary Muslim thinkers like Gülen, who offer a more expansive and multi-facet- ed reading of what it means to ‘strive in the path of God’, are harking back to earlier, and thus more historically authentic, understandings of jihad and its moral purview. The Arabic term jihad has primarily come to mean “armed struggle/combat” and is frequently translated into English as “holy war.” And yet a close scrutiny of the occurrence of this term in the Qur’an and early hadith literature in particular demonstrates that this exclusive under- standing of the term cannot be supported for the formative period of Islam. In the Qur’an the phrase “fi sabil Allah,” meaning “in the path of God” or “for the sake of God,” is frequently conjoined to al-jihad. The full Arabic expression “al-jihad fi sabil Allah” means “striving/ struggling in the path of God” in the broadest sense. In the supporting hadith and exegetical literature, this human struggle for the noblest purpose – that is, to win God’s approval– is manifested in multiple ways. This paper will discuss the multiple meanings of jihad as evident in the Qur’an, exegeses, and hadith literature, particularly from the early period. After having established the broad range of meanings assigned to jihad in these sources, I will then proceed to discuss Fethullah Gülen’s understanding of jihad and its relevance for contemporary Muslims. It will be argued that his understanding of jihad replicates the polyvalence of this term in Qur’an and hadith literature and that his emphasis on both its spiritual and physical dimensions is timely and relevant today, especially in the wake of the appropriation of this term as a relentlessly mili- tant activity by contemporary extremist groups.

Abstract:
Face verification approaches determine whether two given faces are from the same person. Recently, a new demand for face verification application which has become popular in commercial applications is the self-portrait and ID face matching, in which we compare the faces of a selfie shot by a subject and the face in a picture of her identification document. In this work, we proposed a novel approach for face verification in a cross-domain scenario, assuming we have only two images for each subject in the dataset. The method is based on siamese architecture with triplet-loss function. Experiments show the proposed model reaches good effectiveness for cross-domain face verification with low error rates, in comparison to other works of the literature.

Abstract:
The Covid-19 pandemic forced universities to convert their traditional face-to-face exams to online exams with doubts as to whether student cheating or technical difficulties would affect their final grades. After taking three of these exams online, we considered comparing their grades with those of previous years on traditional exams. The average mark of the traditional exams before the pandemic was 6.95 over 10, while the average mark of the three exams carried out in the Covid-19 era is 6.64. The student's t test indicated that there are no significant differences between the two types of exams in the mean (p = 0.408), the median (p = 0.378), the range (p = 0.307), the minimum (p = 0.410) and the maximum (p = 0.072). Taking online exams did not modify the exam grades compared to previous years. There is a lot of variability in similar studies in the literature due to cheating that can be performed in online exams. A proctoring system, good question design, and limited exam time can minimize these differences.

Abstract:
Introduction: It is a growing theme, full of meaning and subjectivism, which increasingly demonstrates an important relationship with the quality of life and with various adaptive functions of the human being, including spirituality as a source of strength and resistance and greater resilience in the face of problems. health or difficult situations. For a broader understanding, it is essential to differentiate between spirituality and religiosity. Spirituality is a personal search for answers to existential questions, whereas religiosity encompasses a relationship, also personal, with God based on the rituals of a religion. Methods: The present work had a total of fifty members of the extension group Pastoral Universitaria linked to Unisul – Tubarão, which includes academics, university employees and members of the local community, religious or not. Results: the results showed a statistically significant difference between the total value of the spirituality questionnaire and the quality of life questionnaire (p= 0,0076), but there was no relationship between these values and the sociodemographic data. It can be seen, therefore, that higher levels of spirituality are closely related to better quality of life rates, when assessed through subjective scales. Conclusion: Therefore, it is possible to observe a strong correlation between spirituality and quality of life in the existing literature, which is no different in this research, therefore, the same alert about the importance of discussing the topic. Bringing it to the fore is a way of bringing faith and science together, fostering studies and increasing one’s interest in life.

Full text
Abstract:
This conjugate heat transfer (CHT) CFD predictions were carried out for a square array impingement holes with X/D of 5 and at a single high mass flow cooling rate G of 1.84kg/sm2bar. CHT was modelled with a 100kW/m2 fixed heat flux imposed at the hot face of the target wall, which gives a temperature at the cold face that is typical of normal operating conditions of a gas turbine. The wall temperatures as a function of distance along the gap and through the wall thickness were computed, together with the gap aerodynamics. The main parameter investigated was the gap Z/D (0.83–7.0). The results showed that the surface averaged Nu/Pr0.33 was predicted to be reduced from 73 to 48 over the range of Z/D, which is in good agreement with literature values. The cause was shown to be reduced surface turbulence levels as the crossflow convected turbulence away from the surface. There was also heating of the impingement jets at large Z/D so that the original cool jet air did not reach the surface.

Khan, Ayesha. Adolescents and reproductive health in Pakistan: A literature review. Population Council, 2000. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/rh2000.1042.

Full text
Abstract:
This report reviews research and findings on adolescents and reproductive health in Pakistan. The material is drawn from a range of national surveys and medical research, as well as information gathered by nongovernmental organizations. Although adolescents make up a quarter of the population of Pakistan, they are still a new subject for research. The characterization of adolescents for this review is individuals ages 10–19, whether or not they are married, sexually active, or parents. The discussion of the research material is based on the assumption that adolescence is a developmental phase, a transition from childhood to adulthood. Basic data on education, employment, and reproductive health among adolescents shows that they are not receiving adequate schooling and capability building to equip them for the future. Due to their relative youth, lack of decision-making power, and incomplete personal development, adolescents are ill equipped to handle the reproductive health burden they face. Policies and programs, as well as legal provisions, do not protect adolescents and need to be designed to meet the needs of adolescents without disrupting their development into adults.

Murad, M. Hassan, Stephanie M. Chang, Celia Fiordalisi, et al. Improving the Utility of Evidence Synthesis for Decision Makers in the Face of Insufficient Evidence. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.23970/ahrqepcwhitepaperimproving.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: Healthcare decision makers strive to operate on the best available evidence. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) Program aims to support healthcare decision makers by producing evidence reviews that rate the strength of evidence. However, the evidence base is often sparse or heterogeneous, or otherwise results in a high degree of uncertainty and insufficient evidence ratings. Objective: To identify and suggest strategies to make insufficient ratings in systematic reviews more actionable. Methods: A workgroup comprising EPC Program members convened throughout 2020. We conducted interative discussions considering information from three data sources: a literature review for relevant publications and frameworks, a review of a convenience sample of past systematic reviews conducted by the EPCs, and an audit of methods used in past EPC technical briefs. Results: Several themes emerged across the literature review, review of systematic reviews, and review of technical brief methods. In the purposive sample of 43 systematic reviews, the use of the term “insufficient” covered both instances of no evidence and instances of evidence being present but insufficient to estimate an effect. The results of the literature review and review of the EPC Program systematic reviews illustrated the importance of clearly stating the reasons for insufficient evidence. Results of both the literature review and review of systematic reviews highlighted the factors decision makers consider when making decisions when evidence of benefits or harms is insufficient, such as costs, values, preferences, and equity. We identified five strategies for supplementing systematic review findings when evidence on benefit or harms is expected to be or found to be insufficient, including: reconsidering eligible study designs, summarizing indirect evidence, summarizing contextual and implementation evidence, modelling, and incorporating unpublished health system data. Conclusion: Throughout early scoping, protocol development, review conduct, and review presentation, authors should consider five possible strategies to supplement potential insufficient findings of benefit or harms. When there is no evidence available for a specific outcome, reviewers should use a statement such as “no studies” instead of “insufficient.” The main reasons for insufficient evidence rating should be explicitly described.

Dabrowski, Anna, and Pru Mitchell. Effects of remote learning on mental health and socialisation. Literature Review. Australian Council for Educational Research, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.37517/978-1-74286-682-6.

Full text
Abstract:
This literature review focuses on the effects of remote learning on mental health, including acute mental health issues and possible ongoing implications for student wellbeing and socialisation. It provides an overview of some of the challenges that can impact on the mental health and relationships of young people, many of which have accelerated or become more complex during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the light of concern about rising antisocial behaviour and extremism there is a focus on socialisation and self-regulation on return to school post-pandemic. In the face of limited Australian research on these topics, the review takes a global focus and includes experiences from other countries as evidenced in the emerging research literature. Based on these findings the review offers advice to school leaders regarding the self-regulatory behaviours of students on return to school after periods of remote learning, and addresses social and emotional considerations as students transition back to school. It also considers ways in which schools can promote wellbeing and respond to mental health concerns as a way to address and prevent antisocial behaviours, recognise manifestations in extremism (including religious fundamentalism), and challenge a general rise in extremist views.

Abstract:
Authentication methods based on human traits, including fingerprint, face, iris, and palm print, have developed significantly, and currently they are mature enough to be reliably considered for human identification purposes. Recently, as a new research area, a few methods based on non-facial skin features such as vein patterns have been developed. This literature review paper explores some key biometric systems such as face recognition, iris recognition, fingerprint, and palm print, and discusses their respective advantages and disadvantages; then by providing a comprehensive analysis of these traits, and their applications, vein pattern recognition is reviewed.

Brassil, Anthony. The Consequences of Low Interest Rates for the Australian Banking Sector. Reserve Bank of Australia, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.47688/rdp2022-08.

Full text
Abstract:
There is a vast international literature exploring the consequences of low interest rates for various banking sectors. In this paper, I explore how this international literature relates to the Australian banking sector, which operates differently to other jurisdictions. In the face of low rates, the profitability of Australian banks has likely been less adversely affected than what the international literature would predict, but the flip side to this is that the pass-through of monetary policy to lending rates may have been more muted. I then use a recent advance in macrofinancial modelling to explore whether pass-through in Australia could turn negative – the so called 'reversal rate' – and find that the features of the Australian banking system mean a reversal rate is highly unlikely to exist in Australia.

Oviedo, Daniel, Daniel Perez Jaramillo, and Mariajosé Nieto. Governance and Regulation of Ride-hailing Services in Emerging Markets: Challenges, Experiences and Implications. Inter-American Development Bank, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0003579.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper seeks to shed some light on the different considerations for regulation and governance of ride-hailing platforms in emerging markets, highlighting their positive and negative externalities. Building on an extensive review of the literature and secondary sources, we outline Ride-hailing's identified and potential effects on users (providers and consumers), incumbents, and society. Based on the welfare impacts structure, we identify the significant challenges that regulators face in understanding, monitoring, evaluating, and regulating this type of transportation innovation. Finally, the paper proposes a framework for approaching such mobility innovations from governance and regulation perspectives. In a context of exponential growth in research and innovation in urban mobility in general and Ride-hailing, a rigorous review of the literature and a critical framework for understanding governance and regulation in such services in rapidly changing contexts is a timely contribution.

Idris, Iffat. Increasing Birth Registration for Children of Marginalised Groups in Pakistan. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/k4d.2021.102.

Full text
Abstract:
This review looks at approaches to promote birth registration among marginalised groups, in order to inform programming in Pakistan. It draws on a mixture of academic and grey literature, in particular reports by international development organizations. While there is extensive literature on rates of birth registration and the barriers to this, and consensus on approaches to promote registration, the review found less evidence of measures specifically aimed at marginalised groups. Gender issues are addressed to some extent, particularly in understanding barriers to registration, but the literature was largely disability-blind. The literature notes that birth registration is considered as a fundamental human right, allowing access to services such as healthcare and education; it is the basis for obtaining other identity documents, e.g. driving licenses and passports; it protects children, e.g. from child marriage; and it enables production of vital statistics to support government planning and resource allocation. Registration rates are generally lower than average for vulnerable children, e.g. from minority groups, migrants, refugees, children with disabilities. Discriminatory policies against minorities, restrictions on movement, lack of resources, and lack of trust in government are among the ‘additional’ barriers affecting the most marginalised. Women, especially unmarried women, also face greater challenges in getting births registered. General approaches to promoting birth registration include legal and policy reform, awareness-raising activities, capacity building of registration offices, integration of birth registration with health services/education/social safety nets, and the use of digital technology to increase efficiency and accessibility.

Full text
Abstract:
There is ample evidence that online hate speech in Pakistan is directed against women, religious minorities, journalists, voices of dissent and activists. The targeting of many of these groups is an expansion online of the traditional hostility and abuse they face offline. However, the internet has made such abuse easier and online hate speech is growing as internet use rises in the country. Those responsible vary somewhat: women and religious minorities are typically targeted by religio-political parties and their followers, while journalists and activists are often targeted by government/the military. In all cases, online hate speech can have a serious offline impact, including physical violence, and restrictions on people’s freedom/ability to work/post online. This review, looking at online hate speech in Pakistan in relation to particular groups, draws largely on reports by think-tanks/NGOs as well as media articles and blogs. Relatively little academic literature was found on the subject, but grey literature was quite extensive, especially on certain religious minorities (Ahmadis) and women.

Full text
Abstract:
Armed groups tax. Journalistic accounts often include a tone of surprise about this fact, while policy reports tend to strike a tone of alarm, highlighting the link between armed group taxation and ongoing conflict. Policymakers often focus on targeting the mechanisms of armed group taxation as part of their conflict strategy, often described as ‘following the money’. We argue that what is instead needed is a deeper understanding of the nuanced realities of armed group taxation, the motivations behind it, and the implications it has for an armed group’s relationship with civilian and diaspora populations, as well as the broader international community. This paper builds on two distinct literatures, on armed groups and on taxation, to provide the first systematic exploration into the motivation of armed group taxation. Based on a review of the diverse practices of how armed groups tax, we highlight that a full account of their motivation needs to go beyond revenue collection, and engage with key themes around legitimacy, population control, institution building, and the performance of public authority. We problematise common approaches towards armed group taxation and state-building, and outline key questions of a new research agenda.
