Abstract:
This study aims to understand and analyze how user perceptions shape sustainable usage in Crypto apps, a group of cryptocurrency exchange platforms based in Indonesia that facilitate buying, selling, and trading various digital assets. Utilizing a quantitative-causal approach, questionnaires were distributed to 245 users of several Crypto Apps in Indonesia, such as Tokocrypto, Indodax, Pintu, Rekeningku, Triv, Koinku, Upbit Indonesia, Bitocto, Zipmex, IDEX, Pluto, and Bechipin, to gather data. This study is grounded in the technology acceptance model (TAM), which postulates that perceived usefulness and ease of use significantly influence users' attitudes and behavioral intentions toward technology adoption. By applying TAM, the research seeks to identify the key factors driving sustainable usage of Crypto apps. The collected data was analyzed using SEM-PLS to examine the hypotheses. The results indicate that perceived usefulness and ease of use positively impact consumer attitudes and intention to continue using the platform. However, consumer attitude does not directly impact continuance intention and does not serve as a mediating factor. These findings hold practical implications for Crypto apps, suggesting the need to improve service quality and application features to maintain user loyalty. Moreover, the study contributes theoretically to understanding the factors influencing users’ intentions to use cryptocurrency applications. In summary, users’ perceptions of the application's benefits and ease of use significantly shape their attitudes and intentions to continue using Crypto apps.

Abstract:
The emergence of sharia investment products in the Indonesian capital market opens up opportunities for Indonesian Muslims to invest. At present, the growth of investors in Islamic stock investment has not developed significantly. Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS) is the first system in the world developed to facilitate sharia investment in conducting stock transactions in accordance with sharia principles. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the intention to invest in sharia shares in Indonesia with attitude as mediation using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory using a questionnaire in data collection. The population in this study comes from data on Islamic stock investors in Indonesia with a total of 382 respondents and the data was analyzed using descriptive SEM-PLS research. The results of the study found that there was an influence perceived ease of use, religiosity, investor attitudes towards investment intentions in sharia shares. Perceived ease of use, religiosity had an effect on attitudes. The perceived usefulness does not show an influence on investor attitudes and there is also no effect of the perceived usefulness on the intention to invest in sharia shares. Variables perceived ease of use and religiosity using attitude as mediation, a positive influence was found, but not with perceived usefulness in attitude as mediation on the intention to invest in sharia stocks.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the stakeholders’ acceptance on blockchain and to investigate the model fit by using “Technology Acceptance Model” with special reference to corporate governance through cryptography to resolve the decades-old problems of financial record-keeping. Design/methodology/approach The whole analysis has been performed in the two steps, i.e. confirmatory factors analysis and structural equation modeling, to prove model fit between behavioral intention and actual behavior for using blockchain technology. Total 223 respondents have been selected, and the selection of the respondent is primarily on the basis of their previous experience with trading corporate equities. Findings The study determines empirically all the mentioned relationships of attitude, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness with the behavioral intention as per the conceptual model to prove the relationship. The results of the manuscript shows the model fit indexes for various constructs are prove the model fit as per the theorized model. The values of the various indexes are found to be under the permissible range which explains the relationship of various constructs based on the theorized model. Research limitations/implications Despite, the limitations in terms of selection of sampling methods, outcome and the interpretation, the results proves the fit with the theoretical framework. The major implication is to understand the real-time use of blockchain technology for the transfer of shares from one party to other. Practical implications Stakeholders in corporate governance namely customers, creditors, suppliers, community, employees, owners, investors, trade unions and social activists could benefit in different ways. Investors could benefit from being able to purchase equity at low price and to sell them into a market with greater liquidity, but they would found it difficult to camouflage their trades. Social implications The study opines that virtually all aspects of the corporate governance can be improved through the adoption of this technology resulting in greater transparency, improved liquidity and lowering costs. Originality/value This study will be a reference for global players in the financial industry that have started investing in this innovative technology vis-à-vis recent announcement of adoption of blockchain by global exchanges including NASDAQ, NYSE and Deutsche Borse, as a new method for trading, tracking ownership and monitoring systemic risk for strengthening corporate governance mechanism. This study will have a significant index for future reference where the technology adoption will be tested to have better corporate governance which will be useful for academics and professionals.

Abstract:
mHealth apps are growing in popularity among smartphone users. Such apps often contain social features that enable users to compare their behavior with others but to function, mHealth apps require users to share health information which is considered a threat to individuals’ privacy. Building on social comparison theory and research on privacy decision-making, we investigate the effects of users’ social comparison orientation and privacy attitudes as well as the potential mediating effect of health information disclosure on users’ intention to use a dietary app. Relying on a PLS-based structural-equation model in a sample of N = 528 participants, our study supports claims of a positive effect of social comparison orientation on intention to use a mHealth app. Further, the negative effect of privacy attitude and the positive mediation of information disclosure were supported as well. The study also demonstrated that findings were stable when the context of information disclosure is changed.

Abstract:
Investing in the stock market has become a common practice in the modern world. Despite the fact that stock market investments provide substantial returns, they also entail substantial risk. The behavior and attitudes of an investor depend on the level of risk involved. Social and psychological factors have a significant influence on investor behavior. In this study, the theory of planned behavior serves as a conceptual framework for analysing the degree of influence each component has on people’s investment-related behavioural intentions. Each investor’s information is collected through a structured questionnaire. In addition to providing compelling evidence for the existence of psychological variables, the study supports the contention that four psychological variables - overconfidence, excessive optimism, risk psychology, and herd behavior - have a significant impact on people’s attitudes toward investing. In addition, the study found evidence to support the claim that social factors - Media, Social Interaction Internet – have a positive relationship with the attitude towards trading, and that there is a strong positive correlation between attitude and intention towards trading, whereas perceived behavioural control and subjective norms are moderately positively associated with intention towards trading. A moderately positive correlation exists between trading intent and trading behavior.

Abstract:
Purpose The rise of social media has gained increasing attention in recent years; however, few studies have focused on social media users’ specific behavior and subjective well-being. To fill this research gap, the purpose of this paper is to develop an integrated model to investigate factors that affect social media user’s share intention and the relationship between user’s share intention and subjective well-being. Design/methodology/approach Structural equation model is used in this study. A field survey with 398 WeChat users is conducted to test the research model and hypotheses. Findings The empirical results show that: utilitarian value, hedonic value, user satisfaction and information source credibility are important factors affecting users’ share intention; users’ share intention positively affects user’s subjective well-being; moderating effects show that relative significance positively moderates the relationship between utilitarian value and users’ share intention; and users’ demographic characteristics differences actually exist in users’ share intention. Originality/value First, the authors clear that factors affect social media users’ share intention from the perspective of customer-perceived value. The results deepen our understanding about the factors that affect WeChat users’ share intention. Second, the authors focus on the effect of users’ specific behavior on users’ subjective well-being and found that users’ share intention is one of the important aspects that affect user’s subjective well-being. More importantly, the authors tested users’ characteristic differences in social media users’ share intention, which have previously received limited attention.

Abstract:
As half the population of the world is constituted by women, their role in economic development is something inevitable. Though they have marked their progress and valuable contributions in all walks of life, their presence in stock market is very much limited. Past researches show that there is a wide gender gap in share trading especially in a developing nation like India. The root cause is that, women undoubtedly face various constraints related to share trading. Therefore, it is imperative to study the influence of these constraints faced by women in share trading, on the resultant outcomes and find possible solutions to it, to improve women participation in this arena. The major intention of the present study is to identify the extent of influence the constraints are causing on the outcomes or the results, and to identify whether there is any difference in its impact on women investors from professional and non-professional working backgrounds in share trading using multi-layer analysis. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire which was distributed among women investors in the district of Ernakulam, who are having professional work background as well as non- professional work background. The study concludes on the note that the constraints influence the outcomes or results significantly, and the most affected are the women investors with non-professional work background. The study offers possible solutions to overcome the issues.

碩士<br>國立屏東商業技術學院<br>資訊管理系(所)<br>98<br>The evolution of Internet-based self-service technology (SST) has enabled firms to develop effective and low-cost business models for enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing operational cost. The Internet-based SST has tremendously changed the way customers interact with firms. It is difficult for firms to implement the Internet-based SST in their business models successfully without understanding the factors affecting customers’ intention to adopt the Internet-based SST. Therefore, this study develops and validates an online stock trading system usage model for understanding the adoption intention of customers on online stock trading service. Based on the united theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model developed by Vankatesh, et al. (2003), a comprehensive set of constructs and hypotheses were developed using methodology of sampling survey for evaluating them. To evaluate the proposed model, a questionnaire survey was conducted to examine the relationships between the influential variables proposed by Vankatesh, et al. (2003). The results demonstrate the significant impact of performance expectancy on customers&apos; behavioral intention on using online stock trading system.

碩士<br>華梵大學<br>資訊管理學系碩士班<br>98<br>This study explores the following topics for references of the futures authorities in making guidelines of information security. How should futures enterprises intensify information security? How applicable are the related rules and regulations? What difficulties do futures enterprises face with the information security issues and what should they improve when executing the related guidelines of information security? What are the factors which make futures workers comply with the information security standards? In order to find out the important factors of futures workers’ compliance with the information security standards for the Futures Trading System, this research surveys the bibliographies, collects futures workers’ opinions by questionnaires, and expands the aspects of protection motivation and cognition after the practical observation, based on the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Protection Motivation. The statistics and analysis, such as, basic data, item analysis, analysis of reliability and validity, and factor analysis, are progressed after the questionnaire survey and sample material collecting. The result shows that the most important factors: “usefulness”, “auditing operation”, “punishment effect”, “threat evaluation” and “simplicity” , positively influence the protection motivation of futures workers and their willing compliance with the information security standards. It also shows that when the standards are simpler, the will of compliance increases relatively. The study suggests the information security standards should be made simple, clear and according to the practical operation. Moreover, the authorities should make the internal auditing operation standards. In order to enhance futures workers’ will of compliance and create a beneficial environment for the authorities, futures enterprises and workers, futures enterprises should strengthen educational guidance for the internal information security standards and strictly execute the operation of auditing and information security.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立東華大學<br>企業管理學系<br>106<br>Attempt to understand investors’ acceptance and predict their using intention is a difficult task for the successful adoption of new technology. Securities electronic trading system (e-trading system) is a new method which individual investors can buy or sell stocks directly and quickly from the other investors or companies without the aids of brokers or stock brokerage firms by using the internet and the specific application. In Vietnam, e-trading system for securities has been used for a long time since 2010; however, up to now, using rate of this system remains at current low level. In this study, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) was applied to explain investors’ intention regarding attitude, subjective norm and other related variables. Also, the moderating effect of five dimensions of perceived risk was investigated on the relationship of attitude and intention, subjective norm and intention towards adopting e-trading system. Results showed that attitude and subjective norm substantial influenced investors’ intention toward adopting e-trading system. An essential contribution of the study is examining five dimensions of perceived, which rarely studied their role as moderators in the previous researchers. As per expectation, the performance risk, financial risk and social risk hypotheses were confirmed by a significant effect of the interaction term on both the relationship of attitude, subjective nom on intention; whereas, no findings show that privacy risk and time risk acted as a moderator between both relationships between attitude-intention and subjective norm-intention.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立高雄第一科技大學<br>運籌管理所<br>96<br>In recent years, the trends of globalization and liberalization together with the fast growth of China’s and regional economy result in the expiration of many domestic manufacturers. Therefore, the R.O.C government has included the establishment of Free Trade Zones (FTZs) as part of the “Challenge 2008:Country development plan”to attract new investments from multinational companies and keep local industries in Taiwan. However to ensure the success development of FTZs, the government must understand the factors influencing manufacturer’s decision to join FTZ. Therefore, in this research we conducted a survey at Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) to identify the key factors affecting manufacturer’s intention to join FTZ. The results indicate that the five most important determinants are all tax incentives factors. A logistic regression analysis was used to further examine the effects of deep processing factors, customs and self-administration factors, tax incentives factors, capital circulation factors, business affairs factors and labor condition factors on manufacturer’s intention to join FTZ. The empirical results show that customs and self-administration factors, tax incentives factors and labor condition factors positively influence manufacturer’s intention to join FTZ. However, the impact of deep processing factors, capital circulation factors and business affairs factors on manufacturer’s intention to join FTZ is not supported. Therefore, the government needs to improve these conditions to attract more companies in Science Park to join FTZ.

碩士<br>中華大學<br>資訊管理學系碩士班<br>103<br>These years, teachers have adopted different creative pedagogies to improve the traditional teaching models. Two of the issues have been widely discussed. One is Flipped Classroom, and the other is Share Start Teaching Method, which was just created last year based on the core of Flipped Classroom. Share Start Teaching Method is very popular among teachers; however, students’ learning achievement shouldn’t be evaluated by teachers only, it should also be assessed by students themselves. Therefore, the study will explore the learning achievement of Share Start Teaching Method from the students’ perspective as well as students’ participation intention of Flipped Classroom. The purpose of this study was to explore the factors that affect learning achievement of Share Start Teaching Method based on the students’ personal background, family background, peer relationship and academic stress. Meanwhile, the study also explores the influence of students’ participation intention of Flipped Classroom based on their family background, learning achievement of Share Start, academic stress, resources, and Internet self-efficacy. The survey is conducted by sampling on 117 students, who are taught by teachers that have Share Start Teaching Method experiences for at least one year. The results of data analysis show that gender, grade, peer relationship and parents’ participation in learning have positive correlations on learning achievement of Share Start Teaching Method. Furthermore, parents’ participation in learning, learning achievement of Share Start, academic stress, and Internet self-efficacy have significant impacts on students’ participation intention of Flipped Classroom.

Abstract:
AbstractCircular Economy (CE) promotes trading functions of a product as a service instead of selling the product in conventional ways. For a product like a baby stroller, the function means ensuring mobility with infants without needing to own a stroller. This approach of acquiring functions only when needed opens up the possibility to share the same products with multiple users. For a manufacturer that has built its business on a conventional sales model over the decades, this shift may be too radical. Therefore, for the manufacturers, it is important to understand consumer perceptions of the service-oriented business model before entering this unknown territory. To develop a thorough understanding of consumer perceptions of leasing a stroller instead of buying one, a survey among 200 parents in Stockholm is conducted. The survey brings out quantitative results such as 39% of respondents are open to leasing and identifies key influencing factors such as convenience and environmental image that play a key role for the remaining 61% of respondents to choose leasing. This research concludes that a large number of consumers are open to leasing if a high level of service and environmentally sustainable strollers are offered at a competitive price.

Abstract:
AbstractFood system transformation provides the opportunity to shift current trends in all forms of malnutrition, prioritizing the availability and affordability of nutritious food for all – from shifting priorities in agricultural production, to improved food systems that favor nutrition and sustainability. The task of Action Track 4 is to explore approaches to doing so that will advance equitable livelihoods for producers, businesses, workers across the food system and consumers, with a particular emphasis on addressing inequalities and power imbalances. As the Science Group for AT 4, we explore the nature of these issues, using the drivers of food systems as articulated by the High Level Panel of Experts of the UN Committee on World Food Security (HLPE 2020) as framing. Small and medium-sized producers and people who rely on food systems in rural and urban areas for livelihoods are disproportionately affected by all biophysical and environmental drivers, including soil and water resources and climate change. Unequal opportunity in access to all types of resources reduces overall production, resilience and rural transformation. Advances in innovation, technology and infrastructure have had important impacts on food production and sustainability, transportation and processing along food value chains, marketing, and, ultimately, diets, including the consumption of both nutritious and unhealthy foods. However, achievement of equitable livelihoods in food systems will require that issues of access to contextually suitable innovation and technology, inclusive of indigenous knowledge, be substantially enhanced. Many economic and political factors can be essential causes of inequality and power imbalances at the household, community, national and global levels, which may constrain the ability of food system transformation to deliver poverty reduction and sustainable, equitable livelihoods. Finally, vast evidence illustrates that several socio-cultural and demographic drivers underpin inequalities among and within societies and constrain the potential for some to benefit from actions to improve their livelihoods, particularly women, youths, the disabled, the elderly and indigenous peoples. These issues have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is having a significant impact on global commodity markets and trading systems, economic growth, incomes, and poverty levels, with a likely disproportionate burden falling on vulnerable communities in both urban and rural areas. This is likely to worsen inequalities and set back progress against poverty and hunger goals. To address these issues, we must transform not only food systems, but the structures and systems that continue to enable and exacerbate inequities. Drivers of food system inequities are highly interconnected, and progress in addressing one will likely require change across several. For example, globalization and trade interact with other powerful drivers, especially technology resource mobilization and demographic trends, which shape food production, distribution, and consumption. Hence, in the final section, we reflect on several factors that should be part of effective solutions for combating inequalities in food systems, including rights-based approaches. We then share a series of recommendations aimed at enhancing inclusive decision-making, protecting the livelihoods of those living in situations of vulnerability while creating opportunities, adapting institutions and policies to favor equitable food system livelihoods, and increasing investment so as to realize the potential of improved institutional and policy actions. We invite governments, businesses, and organizations to hold themselves and others to account in advancing equitable livelihoods, and open avenues towards realizing the potential of science, innovation, technology, and evidence to favor equitable livelihoods.

Abstract:
Digital marketing has become an important tool for businesses to reach a wider audience. Many companies, therefore, apply online ads in order to gain new customers. However, since the number of companies that try to benefit from digital marketing is very high, the online ads sector is now more competitive. Drawing consumers' attention is not easy anymore. Therefore, this study focused on the factors that make people share. For this purpose, this study conducted a survey with 253 consumers. The results show that attitudes toward online ads, search intention, and social media product browsing have positive impacts on consumers' sharing intentions. In this study, the authors also wondered, how do online ad types differ from each other in terms of shareability? To understand this, this study did 15 face-to-face interviews and found that consumers prefer to share online ads with text and image rather than video ads. Easiness to share, brief information, and being understandable are the three factors that lead consumers to prefer to share text and image-based online ads.

Abstract:
Technical indicator factors can quickly reflect the transformation of current market behavior. The application system in quantitative trading has become increasingly mature in recent years. Back testing is widely used in factor validity tests because of its validity. However, the current research on the effectiveness of technical indicator factors has ignored the adaptability to the model timing strategy, and the use of factors is not differentiated enough. How to carry out reasonable and effective factor validity research has become a difficult problem for many scholars to discuss. This paper first selected representative technical indicators as the research object and crawled the trading data of Chinese A-share listed companies through Python. It then calculated the sample data using computer databases such as Pandas and NumPy. Furthermore, this paper confirms the optimal interval of each factor with the method of back testing. On this basis, it tests the income distribution of each factor and the maximum pullback. It introduces the timing method of the simple moving average for comparison and discusses the feasibility of using a technical indicator strategy to conduct stock selection trading.

Abstract:
Infodemic refers to the influx of inaccurate or deceptive information on social media during a pandemic. The sharing of unverified COVID-19 information on social media is pervasive in Malaysia, which leads to adverse consequences stemming from misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information. Drawing upon the cognitive load theory (CLT) and self-determination theory (SDT), this research examined the antecedents driving unverified COVID-19 information sharing on social media in Malaysia. Based on 309 validated online survey responses, the PLS-SEM analysis revealed that except for trust towards online information; the proposed factors, self-disclosure, information overload, entertainment, and fear of missing out (FoMo), were found to predict the intention to share unverified COVID-19 information sharing on social media in Malaysia. Theoretical implications are discussed through CLT and SDT, and practical recommendations for government agencies, social media administrators, and public members to curb unverified COVID-19 information sharing on social media in Malaysia are offered.

Abstract:
Social network sites (SNSs) are new communication channels with which people can share information. The main functions of SNSs, such as MySpace, Facebook, and Orkut, consist of displaying a user’s social contacts, enabling people to view each other’s social networks and search for common friends or interesting content. Social networks are also connected to gaming and it is quickly becoming one of the most popular categories of applications on SNSs. The goal of this project is to gain insight into the factors that affect user intention to use a social network game. The study uses an extended technology acceptance model and focuses on combining personal innovativeness, personal involvement, intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation to explain usage intentions for social network games. The proposed model was tested with data collected from potential users of a social network game. A multiple regression analysis and MANOVA analysis were then conducted to identify the key causal relationships. It is expected that personal innovativeness and personal involvement will have positive effects on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and ultimately influence usage intentions with regard to social network games.

Abstract:
Organisations invest heavily in knowledge management technologies and initiatives which are entirely dependent on the willingness of employees to share their knowledge. Educational and reward programs need to be informed by an understanding of what motivates people to share their knowledge at work. Prior research based on motivational theories suggests the importance of intrinsic and extrinsic motivators to encourage voluntary pro-social behaviours such as knowledge sharing. However, the literature on motivation in the context of knowledge sharing is still emerging and fragmented. This chapter therefore proposes an integrated model that brings together theoretical insights from motivational research to explain the influence of key intrinsic and extrinsic motivators on knowledge sharing. The chapter reports the results of the assessment of the model based on data collected across 10 organisations. The discussion of results contributes to the understanding of motivational factors influencing attitude and intention to share knowledge and their relative importance.

Abstract:
The aim of our paper is to reveal crucial factors related to the intention towards adoption of ridesharing service. To determine the importance of the factors we employ machine learning technique. Employing a survey methodology and a total of 325 questions, we gathered data from students at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Organizational Sciences. We then analysed responses using a Random Forest Classifier to predict ridesharing service usage intention. Our findings reveal that social influences, including word-of-mouth and perceived enjoyment, are paramount in shaping intentions to use ridesharing services. Negative perceptions about the complexity and safety of ridesharing also emerged as influential. Since our research was focused on first-time users of ridesharing concept the findings can be of great importance for the emerging sharing mobility providers. Outlined top preferences can dictate market operators’ penetration strategies that should be adjusted based on the potential consumers’ perceptions and motives.

Abstract:
In urban environments, cycling is an important method of transportation due to being sustainable, healthy and less space-intensive than motorised traffic. Most literature on interactions between automated vehicles (AVs) and vulnerable road users (VRUs) focuses on external Human-Machine Interfaces positioned on AVs and telling VRUs what to do. Such an interface requires cyclists to actively look for and interpret the information and can reduce their ability to make their own decisions. We designed a physical bicycle-to-vehicle (B2V) interaction that allows cyclists to share the intention to turn with AVs through vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication. We explored four concepts of interaction with hands, feet, hips, and knees. The final concept uses haptic feedback in each handle. The test with nine participants explored the clarity of the feedback and compared two variations: (1) providing feedback in the beginning, during and at the end and (2) giving feedback only at the beginning and end. Results indicate that the general meaning of both variants is clear and that the preferred variation of feedback is up to personal preference. We suggest that B2V interactions should be possible to personalise.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate the factors that determine employee’s knowledge sharing intention through the perspectives of social capital, emotion and motivation. The impacts of individual factors, namely social capital, enjoyment in and fear for knowledge sharing, sense of belonging and knowledge sharing self-efficacy on employee’s intention to share knowledge with colleagues are examined. &#x0D; In order to test the hypotheses regarding the relationships among aforementioned variables, data were gathered through question forms from 267 employees working at two shopping malls in a province of Turkey. First, confirmatory factor analysis was applied to data on LISREL 8.7 software. Second, the validity of the measurement model was examined and last, anticipated relationships among variables were investigated through path analysis in structural equation modelling. The results stated that fear for sharing knowledge affected intention negatively while enjoyment in sharing knowledge and knowledge sharing self-efficacy affected intention positively. Also, relational capital was not found to impact intention to share knowledge via fear and enjoyment. On the other hand, sense of belonging impacted intention merely through enjoyment in sharing knowledge.

Abstract:
A shift to electric vehicles is necessary for transport decarbonization and requires the consideration of human factors in the design of political regulations. By applying the Theory of Planned Behavior this research identifies key motivational determinants of the decision to state a higher share of electric vehicle miles traveled. In a stated adaptation experiment, respondents were confronted with new price regulations and could adopt all mobility tools in their household, e.g. include an electric vehicle, and specify the annual vehicle miles traveled. The results of a structural equation model on data of 424 respondents show that the stated proportion of electric vehicle miles traveled is higher with a person’s greater intention to buy an electric vehicle, while the intention itself is predicted by a person’s attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavior control of buying an electric vehicle.

Full text
Abstract:
In this paper we evaluate the distributional impact of carbon pricing in Ireland via a number of different measures, Excise Duties, Carbon Taxes and the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, utilising information contained in the OECD Effective Carbon Rate (ECR) database together with the PRICES model. Essential household energy consumption constitutes a significant portion of spending, particularly for lower-income households, indicating regressive expenditure patterns across income brackets. The immediate impact of carbon pricing on household budgets varies based on their reliance on various fuels for heating and transportation (direct impact), as well as the emissions associated with other goods and services (indirect impact). Carbon footprints vary widely among households, with higher-income ones generally emitting less than lower-income ones as a percentage of their income. Although carbon footprints primarily dictate the burdens of carbon pricing, other factors such as the uneven application of carbon pricing policies and disparities in emissions between industries and fuel types also influence the equation. Despite the necessity for substantial carbon price hikes to meet climate targets, the effects on household budgets during the 2012-2021 period were relatively modest. Carbon pricing reforms typically exhibited regressive trends, disproportionately affecting lower-income households relative to their earnings. We modelled also a number of different reforms utilising the revenue generated by the additional carbon revenues. The net impact in terms of winners and losers depended very significantly upon the both the nature of the expenditure and upon the share of revenue used.

Abstract:
This study assesses the interaction between climate change and agricultural trade policies. We distinguish between two dimensions of agricultural trade policy: market insulation and subsidy levels. Building on the previous work of Tsigas, Frisvold and Kuhn (1997) we find that, in the presence of current levels of agricultural subsidies, increased price transmission --as called for under the Uruguay Round Agreement on Agriculture-- reduces global welfare in the wake of climate change. This is due to the positive correlation between productivity changes and current levels of agricultural support. Increases in subsidized output under climate change tend to exacerbate inefficiencies in the global agricultural economy in the absence of market insulation. However, once agricultural subsidies have also been eliminated, price transmission via the global trading system contributes positively to economic adaptation under climate change. products. This may partially explain the relatively slow growth of world grain import demand in recent years. In addition, bilateral agreements with East Asia, NAFTA, and the evolution of the CAP, have all had important impacts on the structure of world food and agricultural trade. The objective of this paper is to assess the relative role of each of the major forces-- consumer demand, factor accumulation, transport costs, and policy change--in driving changes in the composition of world food trade in 1980-1995. To do so, we employ a modified version of the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) model of world trade which permits us to isolate the contribution of each of these related factors to the changing composition of world food trade in a general equilibrium context. We evaluate the relative role of each of these factors by simulating the model backwards in time, from 1995 to 1980 under different assumptions. This general approach, termed “backcasting” (i.e. backwards forecasting), takes as exogenous the basic drivers of change and attempts to explain the resulting change in food trade composition. The model-produced changes in the composition of agricultural and food trade are compared with historical trade data, to determine the relative importance of each factor on the changing composition of food trade. Given limited space, our focus will be on explaining the changes in the global composition of food and agriculture trade. A natural follow-on effort would target specific markets in more detail. This type of backcasting approach was first employed by Gehlhar (1997) who sought to explain the shift in exports of primary commodities to manufactures in East Asia in the 1980's. He calibrated the GTAP model to 1992 data, then implemented shocks to factor endowments and economywide total factor productivity (TFP) in order to force each economy back to its 1982 levels of population, land, labor, human capital, physical capital and technology. By comparing actual and predicted changes in export shares in this period, he found human capital accumulation played a key role in explaining the change in the aggregate composition of East Asian exports. Gehlhar, Hertel and Martin (1994) built on this work in an effort to predict future changes in the pattern of agricultural trade from 1992-2002. They also emphasized the importance of supply-side determinants of agricultural trade. In this paper, we go beyond this earlier work in a number of ways. First, we focus on the composition of agricultural exports, rather than simply looking at the share of agriculture in total trade. Secondly, we incorporate the Cranfield et al. estimates of Rimmer and Powell’s recently developed, implicitly directly additive demand system (nicknamed AIDADS) into the GTAP model. This permits us to better capture the impact of demand-side changes on the pattern of global tr
