Abstract:
The main aim of the article is to understand the influence of factors biasing purchase decisions connected with measurement of consumers’ involvement. Consumption expenditures are purposefully subdivided according to the classification made by the Statistical Office of the European Communities. The performed survey showed that the most important factors biasing purchases of all commodity groups are products’ characteristics and the perceived quality. Together with these goes the factor price, nevertheless for example for the commodity group health price did not appear in the scale of the perceived importance at all. Factor necessity of need proved to be significant for decision making about the purchase of all commodities with the exception of alcoholic drinks and tobacco and recreation. Former experience compared to that is not crucial for clothing and footwear and housing equipment and contents. For alcoholic drinks and tobacco, there has notably approved also the factor brand. These analyses enable disclosure of rules of consumer decision making and thereby definition which factors for individual commodities should be targeted by the help of the marketing doyens or where the gradual changes should be achieved.

Abstract:
The work was targeted on the study of egg white foam forming, including the influence of pH, aluminium ions, xanthan, maltodextrin, and phosphates on the whipping and stability of egg white foams. The whipping was studied with non pasteurised and pasteurised egg white using the blender with planet motion. Both types of egg white formed good foam in the acid area (pH below 4.5) and at neutral pH. Aluminium ions had a positive effect on the foam volume and stability, especially with the non pasteurised egg white. The addition of maltodextrin or saccharose decreased the foam volume but increased the foam stability. The addition of natrium pyrophosphate or natrium hexametaphosphate had a positive effect on the volume, density, and stability of foam. Foams with hexametaphosphate were applied into confectionary products.

Hansia, Bradley L. "Factors influencing job satisfaction." Thesis, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10948/1111.

Full text
Abstract:
The harassed boss who faces an office full of mutinous, recalcitrant staff every morning may not believe it, but half of South Africa’s employees love their jobs and their employers. That’s according to TNS Research Surveys, which recently released the results of a survey into employee wellbeing and commitment. TNS director Neil Higgs issued a caution, though: because of the tough economic times, employers are likely to be stuck with the malcontents among their staff for longer than they might like (Ferreira, 2009). From the above mentioned it can be deduced that there are many employees who are currently not satisfied with their jobs. This poses a danger for employers and their productivity, as an unsatisfied employee is likely to be an unproductive employee. Satisfied employees are likely to make a better contribution to the economic growth of this country as more drive and motivation will be shown in the workplace. In these tough economic times, those employees who are not satisfied with their jobs are less likely to find employment elsewhere as mentioned above. The main purpose of this research paper was to identify certain factors impacting on job satisfaction. The first step was to complete a literature study on the selected factors which impacts on job satisfaction. The factors selected were that of recruitment and selection, rewards offered by employers, personality of employees and leadership characteristics of superiors. The literature study revealed which methods to use in attempting to deal with the selected factors impacting on job satisfaction. Secondly, the views of staff in various departments and views of staff specifically in the Human Resources department of the selected company were asked various questions in an empirical study. These questions were based on the selected factors mentioned in the previous paragraph, this involved them completing questionnaires. v Based on the findings of the literature study and the empirical study, the last step was to make recommendations to the selected company on how to improve job satisfaction of employees. Recommendations were also made as to what to look for to make it easier in recruiting new employees, who are likely to have enhanced job satisfaction for the good of the company.

Reed, Ryan R. "Factors Influencing Biotite Weathering." Thesis, Virginia Tech, 2000. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/36282.

Full text
Abstract:
Weathering of biotite supplies nutrients such as K+ and weathers into vermiculite/montmorillonite or kaolinite, which have varying influences on soil properties and characteristics. This study was conducted to determine if the weathering mechanisms of biotite are controlled by temperature, or if other factors, such as vegetation or leaching intensity dominantly influence the weathering process. A column study investigation was conducted to assess the influence of different acids, simulated rainfall rates, surface horizons, and temperature on the weathering and cation release of biotite. A field investigation was also conducted on the clay mineral fraction of soils in Grayson County, VA formed above biotite granite. Selected acid leachates did show a greater Al+3, Fe+2, and Si+4 release with organic acids (ascorbic, citric, and fulvic) than that with hydrochloric acid treatment at high leachate rates. Loss of K+ is greater with ascorbic acid than all other acids at high leachate rates. Leachate rate interaction with low temperature was an influencing factor in cation release. Field investigations revealed a greater weathering intensity at high elevations evidenced by; (i) higher clay content, (ii) a dominance of 2:1 minerals, (iii) greater surface area in the upper horizons, (iv) minerals indicative of later stages in the biotite weathering mechanism, and (v) precipitation of halloysite in the C horizon at the high elevation site where temperature is lower and a suspected higher leaching intensity occur.

Hall, Calvin J. III. "Factors Influencing Perceptual Distance." VCU Scholars Compass, 2018. https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/etd/5584.

Full text
Abstract:
Previous research shows that social biases, such as pro-White racial bias, can influence a person's decisions and behaviors (Correll et al. 2007; Mekawi & Bresin, 2015). Studies also suggest that social biases may influence basic functions like visual perception (Cesario & Navarrete, 2014); however, few studies have examined the relationship between visual perceptions and threat (Cesario, Placks, Hagiwara, Navarrete, & Higgins, 2010; Todd, Thiem, & Neel, 2016). The current research aims to investigate whether implicit pro-White preference can influence basic functions like visual perception. A secondary aim of this study is to examine the role of threat in this relationship. To test, White male and female participants (N= 29) were asked to complete distance estimates to either a Black or White male experimenter. It was hypothesized that participants would judge the distance to the Black confederate as closer compared to those who estimate the distance to a White confederate. The results marginally supported the idea that participants’ distance judgements were influenced by the experimenter’s race, such that the Black experimenter was viewed as closer when compared to the White experimenter. However, results showed that implicit racial attitudes did not influence distance estimations, but explicit bias did. Fully powered follow-up studies will be conducted to further examine these hypotheses and investigate whether a type one error was present.

Wallén, Warner Henriette. "Factors Influencing Drivers' Speeding Behaviour." Doctoral thesis, Uppsala University, Department of Psychology, 2006. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-7308.

Full text
Abstract:

Every year many people all over the world are killed and severely injured in road traffic accidents. Even though driving too fast is a behaviour well known to contribute to both the number and the outcome of these accidents, drivers are still speeding. The general aim of this thesis, and its five empirical studies, is therefore to further the knowledge about drivers speeding behaviour by using the theory of planned behaviour and the model underpinning the driver behaviour questionnaire as frames of reference. The behavioural data used is obtained from field trials with intelligent speed adaptation and the speed reducing potential of this system is also examined. The results show that attitude towards exceeding the speed limits, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control and moral norm from the theory of planned behaviour, but also violations and inattention errors from the model underpinning the driver behaviour questionnaire, can be used to predict drivers’ everyday speeding behaviour. These two models can also be combined in order to gain further knowledge about the causes of speeding. Identification of drivers’ beliefs about exceeding the speed limits gives further insight into the underlying cognitive foundation of their attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control. This provides valuable information for future design of speed reducing measures. Regarding intelligent speed adaptation, the results show that the ISA speed-warning device greatly reduces the amount of time drivers spend above the speed limits, and to some extent also reduces their mean speeds, but that this effect decreases with time. Although the drivers are not totally satisfied with the experience of the ISA speed-warning device, they like the idea and can see its usefulness. As the device tested is a first generation ISA speed-warning device, further research has the potential to greatly improve the system.

Abstract:
Nut Factor is used to establish a bolt load for a given applied torque in bolted joint assembly. In previous papers the effects of different factors influencing Nut Factor results were examined, which included the type of anti-seize, bolt and nut material, bolt diameter and amount of anti-seize applied. This paper examines those factors further and then includes additional factors which have been shown to have significant effect on the measured Nut Factor. The knowledge of these factors has been used to adjust the proposed ASTM specification for determining Nut Factor. It is also relevant to application in the field and to ensure that any testing conducted in a laboratory will be applicable in the field.
