The results of empirical studies focusing on gender differences in subjective wellbeing based on either national or comparative international data are inconclusive. In Turkey, where levels of gender inequality are high, women tend to report higher levels of life satisfaction than men. In this study, we ask whether the U-shaped relationship between life satisfactionand age is flatter for individuals who are partnered.
