Abstract After a brief discussion of the explanations of this growth in market power, the chapter describes the distinct channels through which this contributes to the growth in inequality. For instance, increased market power leads to greater monopoly rents, and the capitalized value of that leads to more “wealth.” The increase in wealth will go to the residual claimants of the corporations—the owners of the equity—at the time the increased market power is recognized. Those at the very top own the equities gain from the (greater than expected) increased market power. The chapter also explains

Effective management can differentiate countries from each other and change the intense growth of economic, technological and social competition. The aim of this study is to identify clusters in the fisheries sector in the European Union. To achieve this objective, a factor and cluster analysis was designed with the use of IBM SPSS software. Staphylococcus aureus is a major cause of mastitis in dairy cattle. The organism is able to adhere to and penetrate mammary epithelium, forming deep seated abscesses that result in chronic infections. This study was based on the observation that certain genotypes of S. aureus are isolated more frequently from field cases of bovine mastitis than others and the most prevalent genotypes of S. aureus have an increased ability to resist neutrophil phagocytosis and killing compared to the rare variants. It was hypothesized that these predominating genotypes differentially express virulence factors t

This adjustment was reflected in the beginning of the convergence of inflation towards the target, which closed the year at 9.3%. This adjustment is an important step forward in the Board of Directors’ (BDBR) intention to drive inflation toward its target by mid-2025. GDP grew by 1.7%, driven by investment and consumption, while employment increased by 2.2%. Increases in the income of agricultural households have been largely driven by nonfarm income sources, although agricultural income has also been rising. Increases in agricultural inco

Economic theory is inconclusive regarding the effects of banning third-degree price discrimination under imperfect competition because they depend on how the competing firms rank their market segments. When, relative to uniform pricing, all competitors want higher prices in the same market segments, a ban on price discrimination will reduce profits and benefit some consumers at the expense of others. If, instead, some firms want to charge higher prices in segments where their competitors want to charge lower prices, price discrimination increases competition driving all prices down. In this ca

Standard salinity management theory, derived from blending thermodynamic and semi- empirical considerations leads to an erroneous perception regarding compensative interaction among salinity stress factors. The current approach treats matric and osmotic components of soil water potential separately and then combines their effects to compute overall response. With deficit water a severe yield decrease is expected under high salinity, yet little or no reduction is predicted for excess irrigation, irrespective of salinity level.
