Abstract:
Summary The following paper provides a review of research in historical and modern Ukrainian onomastics. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the formation of Ukrainian surnames; in particular it describes the origin, the function, the geographical distribution and the productivity of the suffixes in the formation of the names. The main ways of creating Ukrainian surnames were morphological and semantic methods. The semantic method of creating surnames consists in the transition of personal names, nicknames and appellative personal names into hereditary names without any structural transformations, namely, only as a result of changes in the function. The morphological way of creating hereditary names was to create new anthroponyms with the help of special surname formants. A characteristic feature of the names of the morphological method is that they were formed only from personal names with the help of suffixes. Ukrainian anthroponymy did not have special formants for the creation of surnames, but used the possibilities of its language and adapted them to the onomastic system. By their origin the name suffixes are not the same type but multifunctional. Some of them from the moment of occurrence are used only for the creation of names from parents’ names, while others only eventually began to express kinship. Some suffixes today are actively creating both appellatives and anthroponyms.

Im Jahr 1770 wanderten über 300 deutsche Einwohner des Dorfes Seibersdorf/Kozy in Kleinpolen nach Preußisch-Schlesien aus und gründeten somit eine neue Sprachinsel Anhalt/Hołdunów. Der vorliegende Beitrag behandelt das Thema der Seibersdorfer Familiennamen, die vor der Auswanderung durch des Deutschen unkundige polnische Schreiber einerseits entstellt, andererseits aber in ihrer dialektalen Form konserviert wurden etwa Bayger statt Berger, Wayner statt Wagner. Nach der Auswanderung wurden die Namen durch die preußischen Beamten richtiggestellt, oder in manchen Fällen „verschlimmbessert“ Bayger wurde wieder Berger, aber aus Englert wurde Engel statt richtig Engelhard.The development of the surnames of the Seibersdorf emigrants to Anhalt/HołdunówIn 1770 three hundred German inhabitants of the village of Seibersdorf/Kozy in Lesser Poland emigrated to Prussian Silesia and founded there a new language island Anhalt/Hołdunów. This article deals with the surnames of the emigrants. Before the emigration the Polish writers who did not know German disfigured them or conserved the dialectal form for example Bayger instead of Berger, Wayner instead of Wagner. After the emigration the Prussian authorities corrected the surnames or sometimes made them worse by trying to correct it Bayger became Berger but Englert became Engel instead of Engelhard.

Abstract:
Das deutsche Morphem bzw. Lexem frisch zeigt angesichts seiner verhältnismäßig bescheidenen Distribution in der deutschen Lexik eine überraschende Vielfalt, die auf der morphologischen Ebene (frisch- kommt als Einheit oder deren Teil als Substantiv, Verb, Adjektiv, Adverb und sogar als Interjektion vor) auch wortbildungsmäßig als Produkt von Ableitungen und Zusammensetzungen in unterschiedlichen Ausführungen und Konversionen zum Ausdruck kommt. Der zehnbändige Duden (1999) schreibt dem adjektivischen Lexem frisch fünf Bedeutungen zu. Das semantisch relativ beschränkte frisch in adjektivischen Zusammensetzungen lässt aber im Einklang mit stets veränderlichen außersprachlichen Gegebenheiten unendliche Realisierungen zu (internetfrisch aus Internet frisch renoviert?). Die erste unmittelbare Konstituente in adjektivischen frisch-Zusammensetzungen ist bei weitem das Substantiv. Die Verwendung der frisch-Lexik ist überraschenderweise in der Sprache des Jagdwesens auffallend. Die lexikalisch-semantische Kompatibilität der frisch-Adjektive mit nachfolgenden Substantiven ist ziemlich beschränkt und relativ voraussagbar. Die Mehrdeutigkeit der frisch-Adjektive ist selten, genauso sprach- und funktionalistische Markierung(en). Frisch kann auch Teil von Familiennamen sein und hat zahlreiche Spuren in der Literatur hinterlassen.

Linguistic-cultural Image of Spouses in Grave InscriptionsThe article attempts to present the linguistic-cultural image of spouses on the basis of grave in­scriptions’ analysis. The corpus collected in the southern part of the German-language area shows the presence of common names, the use of certain lexemes husband, wife, spouses, parents and possessive pronouns my, our as well as the use of symbols indicating a deep bond, such as “+”, “&” or wedding rings. They confirm the central attributes of marriage, which is defined as a union between a man and a woman concluded for a lifetime.

Abstract:
The aim of the following article is to analyze the pronunciation of Dutch surnames by Polish native speakers. The research material consists of journalistic statements from the communicative-semantic area of sport that are present in public audiovisual mass media. The selected material guarantees the high frequency of its production and the associated perception within the real acts of communication. In particular, the examination includes Dutch sounds which either do not exist in Polish or occur in a different graphical-distributional context. The exemplary research results (the mode of phonetic integration of foreign speech sounds) represent mechanisms that are interpreted in relation to typical communication models. The study also analyzes the potential placement of such phonetic forms in the target language, i.e. Polish.

Abstract:
The article analyzes selected legal provisions related to administrative and legal procedures of changing the surname in Germany. It is worth emphasizing that the same provisions apply to changing first names. The issue of adopting new surnames and first names and their changes in Germany is regulated first of all by civil law provisions and, to be more precise, by family law provisions which are closely related to the existing family relationships and blood relationships. Legislators have also provided for a possibility of changing surnames and names through administrative and legal procedures based on the public law regulations, in particular – the Change of Name and Surname Act (Gesetz über die Änderung von Familiennamen und Vornamen). Adopting the principle of relative stability of names and surnames, German legislators allow for a change of names and surnames solely upon the request of the party concerned and for valid reasons only, e.g. when the surname is embarrassing, has a complicated spelling or difficult pronunciation. In Germany, German citizens or stateless persons residing or staying on German territory may file a petition to have their name and surname changed. Moreover, administrative provisions allow refugees and persons eligible for asylum to file a change of the surname petition.

Abstract: Cohabitation is a factual question in Hungarian law (living in a financial and emotional community in a common household), it does not constitute civil status, and is extended to same-sex couples, too. The default property regime is “participation of acquisitions.” While the constitutional notion of marriage in Hungary covers the conjugal union of a man and a woman, registered partnership (reserved for same-sex couples) has existed since 2009, the latter constitutes a civil status and has the same legal effects as marriage except the presumption of paternity, the possibility of joint adoption and of taking part in artificial human reproduction, and the right to use each other’s name or a joint family name. The default property regime is “community of property”.Keywords: cohabitation, same-sex couples, registered partnership, Hungary, civil code.Abstrakt: Lebensgemeinschaft ist eine faktische Frage im Ungarischen Recht (man lebt in einer wirtschaftlichen und emotionalen Gemeinschaft im gemeinsamen Haushalt zusammen), sie schafft keinen Personenstand/Zivilstand und ist auch für gleichgeschlechtliche Paare zugänglich. Der gesetzliche Güterstand ist die Zugewinngemeinschaft. Die vorliegende Biographie Johannes Gutenbergs stellt ein schwieriges Unterfangen dar, weil mit wenigen Ausnahmen – Verträge, Testamente, Abschriften von rechtlichen Auseinandersetzungen – keine Dokumente erhalten sind. Das früheste schriftliche Zeugnis überliefert einen <?page nr="447"?>Rechtsstreit (1419) zwischen Gutenberg, seinem Bruder und seiner Schwester mit der Stiefschwester um das Erbe des Vaters. Was Kindheit und Jugend betrifft, konnte sich Gottschalk nur auf wenige Fakten stützen, die für die Gutenbergforschung als relevant gelten, wie etwa der ursprüngliche Familienname Gensfleisch und dass die Familie im Hof Zum Gutenberg in Mainz wohnte, nach dem er sich später benannte. Die Autorin versucht, die erste Lebensphase Gutenbergs durch Exkurse zur Stadtgeschichte von Mainz, z.B. zum Konflikt zwischen Patriziern und Zünften oder das Alltagsleben im Spätmittelalter oder auch zum Leben der Studenten an den Universitäten, lebendig darzustellen. In vielen Fällen konnte sie sich aber nur auf Annahmen und allgemeine Tatsachen berufen, so ist sie der Ansicht, dass die dem Wohnhaus benachbarte Kirche St. Christoph die Taufkirche war und nicht die ebenfalls in der Nähe gelegene Pfarrkirche. Ebenso wenig ist der Studienort Erfurt nicht als sicher belegt und wird nur wegen der engen Beziehung zu Mainz als solcher angenommen. Im Kapitel über den ,,Bücherhunger“ weist Gottschalk auf den vermehrten Anstieg des Schrifttums im 15. Jh. hin, ausgehend von einer knappen Schilderung des mittelalterlichen Skriptoriums, dem vermehrten Bedarf an Büchern auf den Universitäten und dem aufkommenden Buchhandel bis hin zur Herstellung von Blockbüchern.

AbstractThis paper deals with a morphological issue, the inflection in Luxemburgish family names. While in colloquial High German only the one inflective form -s is attested in the plural forms of family names, for instance Schmit-s, we discover in colloquial Luxemburgish, besides the different plural forms, the composition ‘family name + first name’, for instance Schmit’s Paul instead of Paul Schmit. First, we give precise details about the morphological complexity of this construction. Next, its numerous connotations are emphasized. Finally, we put the question, if the new attitude of the young generation towards the inflected composite form generates a linguistic development in this local specified field.

AbstractIn einer Handschrift der Kommentare von Raschi und Raschbam über den Pentateuch, die dem Arzt Beifuβ Josephus aus Worms gehörte, gibt es eine Liste von 16 Männern mit demselben Familiennamen: Walch oder Wallich – einer Familie, die der jüdischen Elite angehörte. Wahrscheinlich ist die Nummer 9 auf der Liste Isaak Wallich aus Worms, der bekannte Sammler von Volksliedern. Die Liste zeigt nicht die genaue Beziehung zwischen den 16 Männern. AbstractThe surname of a Nikolaos πρωτοσπαθάριος καὶ πριμικήριος τῶν συνηγόρων resp. πρωτοσπαθάριος, θεσμογράφος καὶ πριμικήριος τῶν συνηγόρων on his lead seals from the time between 1040 and 1110 had been interpreted in the past with mistakes (Karichala, Katichael). Now we know three exemplars of each type and are able to correct to Κατιχανᾶς / Κατηχανᾶς. One more seal mentions an Ioannes Katechanas as β. κληρικός for a time between 1050 and 1110.The surname Katechanas is not documented elsewhere but has probably a Greek origin.
