Abstract: Few traces remain of the life and work of the Ottoman Jewish author and thinker Graziella Benghiat. Though she served as a contributor to and, later, editor of different journals in late Ottoman Izmir, most of her writing appears to have been lost in the turbulent period of nearly uninterrupted war that ravaged the region between 1912 and 1922. The words of a speech she gave in March 1913 as well as various personal details preserved by family members are among what is left. A criterion is obtained for the motion to occur near the separatrix. The periods of motion both far from the separatrix and near it are found.
