Abstract:
Last year was celebrated by the international professional community as the 95th jubilee of Aaron Beck - founder of one of the most authoritative branches of modern psychotherapy, the influence of which on the sphere of modern mental healthcare can be compared with the value of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis in the last century. Developmental psychologists celebrate one more anniversary last year - 120 years since the birth of the creator of cultural-historical psychology, founder of Moscow psychological school - Lev S. Vygotsky, who was called “the Mozart in psychology” by a famous British philosopher and methodologist working in the USA Tulmin (1981). Mozart discovered a new epoch in music and died at the prime of creative life - sick, poor and lonely. L. S. Vygotsky in the same way made a revolution in the psychology of the last century and died at the age of 37, persecuted and rejected by the oÿcial Stalinist science, in isolation from the international community.

Abstract:
The paper provides for a critical analysis of the monographic work by famous Marxist legal scholar, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Vladimir M. Syrykh. As known, there are a lot of works investigating the crimes of Stalinist politics based on open sources that have become available to scientists. Prof. Syrykh cultivates a different, legal view of the activities of Stalinist leadership. As a legal theorist and methodologist, he set himself the goal of analyzing the legal nature of Stalin’s repressive policies and his associates in the 1930s-1950s. The researcher concluded that Stalin’s leadership in the process of building the socialist state turned away from the requirements of the constitution and Soviet legislation, acted contrary to law, replacing it with Directives, which can be qualified as undermining the state system.Reviewers praise the work by Vladimir M. Syrykh, sharing many of his submissions. As reviewers see, the author’s intention was to purge the very idea of socialism from the distortions and perversions brought by Stalin. According to the author, Stalin perverted the creative nature of Marxism and Lenin’s legacy. However, the authors of the review indicate that the policy of terror against the Soviet people coincides with the period of Stalin’s rule, which gives grounds to Prof. Syrykh opponents to claim: 40 years of socialist construction involved violence, coercion and killing thousands of people. The book under review is written to counter such claims.

Abstract:
Introduction. 2020 became an iconic and significantly groundbreaking year for all mankind. Its events made us change our view on many aspects of our life, which from one side has become a generator to search of new ways and solutions and from another one – emphasized once again the importance of events and processes of the past, reminded of the value of existing assets. All that, of course, didn’t pass by the artistic sphere, in which usual events (concerts, performances, exhibitions, conferences, etc) found their new transformation thanks to opportunities of digital technologies and due to quarantine restrictions. It is possible to outline the process of reflection (an artistic one in our case) on a personal example of the authors of the article as direct active participants in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the cimbalom class of Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky, which took place online. It was almost a 3-month long remote marathon “Cimbalom Slobozhanshchyna”, which consisted of archival and current records of representatives of Kharkiv cimbalom school: from toddlers – students of schools of aesthetic education to already famous Ukrainian musicians – graduates of the cimbalom class of KhNUA. New conditions and ways of realization provided an opportunity to look holistically at the creative potential and powerful development of one performing school. The desire was not just to provide a creative biography of the founder of the cimbalom school of Slobozhanshchyna Olena Opanasivna Kostenko, but to emphasize the versatility of her creative personality and reveal all aspects of her creative work, which from our point of view became the key that opened famous Kharkiv cimbalom school. Objectives. The objectives of this article are to acquaint the world with the creative personality of Olena Kostenko, to single out and highlight the spheres of her creative activity, the set of which became the basis for the formation of a modern Kharkiv cimbalom school. Results and Discussion. Olena Opanasivna Kostenko is an Honored Artist of Ukraine, Associate Professor, Founder, and Leader of the Kharkiv Cimbalom School, a well-known teacher, methodologist, author of many concert arrangements for cimbalom and ensembles with the participation of cimbalom and creative projects. All these aspects of creative activity will be considered in more detail and in the context of the history of the performing school. Founder. Almost in one decade of the XX century, the whole hierarchy of cimbalom education was formed in Kharkiv: school – specialized school – conservatory (primary – secondary – higher art education), at the origins of which stands one person – Olena Kostenko. Lecturer. The synthesis of many aspects, such as many years of fruitful pedagogical work, love for work of life and cimbalom, fidelity to human principles and flexibility to new realities, constant creative search, inexhaustible enthusiasm, and personal qualities of Olena Opanasivna are the “magnet”, in our opinion, that attract like-minded creators, students-followers. Her pupils are numerous winners of international and national competitions. Olena Opanasivna’s graduates successfully work in the teaching field in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Lutsk, they are soloists of professional groups of Kharkiv. Pedagogical and personal principles of O. Kostenko are: creativity and productivity, freedom and respect, accessibility and peculiarity. Methodist-researcher. O. Kostenko is the author of numerous publications, which can be divided into historical-research and educational-methodical publications. She is a regular speaker of methodological seminars and workshops organized by the Regional Training Center for Cult Education of Kharkiv region and the city of Kharkiv, which addresses problematic and topical issues of primary art education, namely cimbalom. Editor and compiler. Music editions by O. Kostenko became no less valuable, even more significant contribution to the cimbalom art. Olena Opanasivna stimulates active editorial activity among her students, arguing its importance and need for expanding and updating the cymbal repertoire, interest in finding new readings of musical creativity, enriched and diversified concert programs, and more. Social activist. O. Kostenko’s projects of a series of concerts became significant events for the music world of Kharkiv. They were held in the halls of the Kharkiv Philharmonic, Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky and Kharkiv Music College named after B. M. Lyatoshinsky called “Cimbalom from A to Z” (2005), “Evening of Ukrainian folk instruments music” (2007), “The world of cimbalom from A to Z” (2008, 2012), “Festival of ensembles of Ukrainian folk instruments” (2009), “The world of cimbalom” coauthored with M. Kuzhba (2013), “Cimbalom playing” (2013, 2014), “Cimbalom in Slobozhanshchyna” – ensemble music (2015), “The cimbalom constellation of Slobozhanshchyna” (2017), “Let’s interpret Boris Mikheev’s music on cimbalom” (2018), Remote marathon to the 30th anniversary of the cimbalom class of KhNUA “Cimbalom Slobozhanshchyna” (2020–2021). We would like to emphasize the constant participation of Olena Opanasivna in the jury of well-known and professional international, all-Ukrainian and regional competitions. Conclusions. Undoubtedly, all the stated above proves the active process of formation and flourishing of the youngest cimbalom school in Ukraine – Kharkiv one, which has been going on for more than 40 years and is headed by a bright creative personality (with its individual style, personal qualities). We state the fact that due to the versatility of Olena Kostenko’s creative activity (founder, teacher, methodologist-researcher, editor-compiler, public figure) it is impossible to imagine the system of folk instrumental art of Slobozhanshchyna at the present stage without cimbalom and cimbalom performing school. Constant creative activity and openness to new forms of the latter characterize it as productive, modern, and original.

Abstract:
The proposed text recording of lectures given by a famous thinker-methodologist in March 1987 at one of the universities belongs to the last period of his amazingly productive work, namely to the creation of a working scheme of thought-activity, forms, means and conditions of its various reflexive elaboration and to the full formation of system-though-activity methodology as an innovative socio-cultural phenomenon in its intellectual environment – in the systematic hard work of the Moscow Methodological Circle. In addition, it is at this historical time that the idea of methodological games is mastered programmatically, organizationally and imitation-technically, and numerous organizational games are held in various problem-thematic areas of solving the most difficult scientific, industrial and covital situations. The s u b j e c t of the collective thought communication of the lecturer with the audience of professional psychologists, which unites the problem areas of the actualized polydialogical semantic landscape of thoughts, questions, answers, arguments, are the historical perspectives of the psychology development. The lecturer offers to abandon the Galilean model of science and Wundt’s model of psychological science, in particular because of their detachment from life and their functioning in their own artificial areas of laws and regularities as ideal abstractions. Therefore, he, unequivocally denying psychologism of any kind, supports not a natural-scientific strategy of empowerment of psychology, but an intelligible, reflexive-interpretive one, which is interested in explaining, constructing and describing true mental reality according to adequately defined goals and values, forms and methods, ways and means of carried out thought-activity. The basic thesis here is formulated very categorically; “outside the framework of methodological thought, no psychology can be.” This is argued by the fact that only methodological thinking allows thought-activity of any psychological content by appropriate means, methods, forms, adequate to a particular life situation. Besides, the projected enrichment of the psychology’s subject field in the coming decades will be determined not by the available material and not by ontological content, but by a methodological approach or a full-fledged philosophical methodologem, though “thinking itself cannot be studied psychologically.” The optimal form of organization and an integral condition for the development of collective thought-activity, in particular in the field of psychology, is organizational game, which at the same time, on the principle of three “s”, provides self-activity, self-organization and self-development of its participants, that operate in a simulated, but real, problem-conflict situation.

Abstract:
The Greek-English Lexicon of Liddell and Scott is one of the most famous dictionaries in the world, and for the past century-and-a-half has been a constant and indispensable presence in teaching, learning, and research on ancient Greek throughout the English-speaking world and beyond. Despite continuous modification and updating, it is still recognizably a Victorian creation; at the same time, however, it carries undiminished authority both for its account of the Greek language and for its system of organizing and presenting linguistic data. This book includes chapters on all aspects of the history, constitution, and problematics of this extraordinary work, examining its complex history and appreciating it as a monument to the challenges and pitfalls of classical scholarship. The chapters combine a variety of approaches and methodologies—historical, philological, theoretical—in order to situate the book within the various disciplines to which it is relevant; from semantics, lexicography, and historical linguistics to literary theory, Victorian studies, and the history of the book. Paying tribute to the Lexicon’s enormous effect on the evolving theory and practice of lexicography, it also includes a section looking forward to new developments in dictionary-making in the digital age, bringing comprehensively up to date the question of what the future holds for this fascinating and perplexing monument to the challenges of understanding an ancient language.

Full text
Abstract:
This expansive history of documentary work in the South during the twentieth century examines the motivations and methodologies of several pivotal documentarians, including sociologists Howard Odum and Arthur Raper, photographers Jack Delano and Danny Lyon, and music ethnographer John Cohen. It also explores the contentious history of documentary work in Hale County, Alabama, a place immortalized by writer James Agee and photographer Walker Evans in their collaborative book, Let Us Now Praise Famous Men, as well by other documentary artists such as William Christenberry, Martha Young, and J.W. Otts. The work of these documentarians salvaged and celebrated folk cultures threatened by modernization or strived to reveal and reform problems linked to the region's racial caste system and exploitative agricultural economy. Images of alluring primitivism and troubling pathology often blurred together, neutralizing the aims of documentary work carried out in the name of reform during the Progressive era, New Deal, and civil rights movement. Black and white southerners in turn often resisted documentarians' attempts to turn their private lives into public symbols. Hale County, Alabama and other places in the region became not only an iconic sites of representation but also battlegrounds where black and white residents challenged the right of documentarians to represent them. The accumulation of influential and, occasionally, controversial documentary images of the South created an enduring, complex, and sometimes self-defeating mythology about the region that persists into the twenty-first century.

The introduction presents the case of a single mobile Jew with eclectic religious practices, Edward Rosewater, arguing that he is a compelling if unexpected starting point from which to redescribe religion in America. Building on religious studies methodologies developed in the American Catholic context, this book helps explain American religious eclecticism. As with contemporary “nones,” for nineteenth-century Americans like Rosewater, congregations, denominations, and stable identities were not obvious or inevitable. Rather, they were particular strategies—among many others—for coping with life amidst the individuating forces of American law, economics, and racial logics. While some Jews believed that Judaism was already suitable for all locales, most Jews recognized that they would have to reconcile Judaism with this new context, whether through individual adaptations like those of Rosewater or through the national projects proposed by famous leaders Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise and Isaac Leeser.

Conducting NLP for Turkish is a lot harder than other Latin-based languages such as English. In this study, by using text mining techniques, a pre-processing frame is conducted in which TF-IDF values are calculated in accordance with a linguistic approach on 7,731 tweets shared by 13 famous economists in Turkey, retrieved from Twitter. Then, the classification results are compared with four common machine learning methods (SVM, Naive Bayes, LR, and integration LR with SVM). The features represented by the TF-IDF are experimented in different N-grams. The findings show the success of a text classification problem is relative with the feature representation methods, and the performance superiority of SVM is better compared to other ML methods with unigram feature representation. The best results are obtained via the integration method of SVM with LR with the Acc of 82.9%. These results show that these methodologies are satisfying for the Turkish language.

During the 2019/2020 academic year, a learning experience built based on the famous cooking show Master Chef was implemented. This was executed in the specialization in Physical Education of the teaching Master's degree. During this experience, candidates (the student body) had to face different weekly challenges (individual, in groups, and eliminatory) based on the ingredients (course contents) that were presented weekly by the chef (the professor). This proposal was built using active methodologies as a reference, turning the student body into the protagonists of their learning process and encouraging those competencies that a good teacher needs in their day-to-day life. The authors ensured that the essence of the original program, characterized by requiring good time-managing skills, continuous decision making, or necessary emotional management, was maintained. At the same time, they took special care of details such as aesthetics or the language employed in Master Chef. Results show the viability and potential of this type of approach in the formative process of future teaching staff.

This paper presents active control design methodologies for control of tall building structures subjected to earthquake and wind disturbances. In particular, a robust control methodology based on passivity-based design techniques is given and is compared with traditional optimal control design methods such as LQR and LQG. The controller designs are tested in simulation on a multi-storied building structure subjected to an earthquake disturbance using the actual seismic data from the famous 1940 El Centro earthquake of the Imperial Valley in southern California. The comparison of open- and closed-loop responses show the effectiveness of passivity-based control design over LQR and LQG designs.

Abstract:
Since the turbomachinery came into existence there is control issue of rotor blade stress condition and blade health monitoring both aero engines in service and in process of impeller machines refinement. This issue relevance is to rotor blade failure lead to serious damage of compressor and aero engines in whole. The timely detection rotor blade failure such as a fissure can prevent emergency and enabled to avoid costly repair. One of the techniques for determination of rotor blades vibration behavior is the blade tip-timing method. Of late years this method find use for turbo machines testing and it has already considerable theoretical and practical experience of application. This work presents the application of blade tip-timing system for measurements of rotor blades vibration parameters in order to detect of rotor blade fissures. The paper presents the instance of blade fissure detection in model fan C180-2 with blade number equaled 18 and circumferential speed 400 m/s by means of non-contact vibration measurement system during the input non-uniformity test. Also data processing of tests was carried out for rotor blade fissure detection in compressor stage. Some assessment criteria of rotor blade condition are considered for blade health monitoring. The purpose of this work is to estimate as a rule famous methodologies of rotor blade failure determination in turbo machines by means blade tip-timing system during the test.

Abstract:
Modern state-of-the-art fatigue monitoring approaches gain in importance not only as part of the ageing management of nuclear power plant components but also in the context of conventional power plants and renewables such as wind power plants. Consequently, lots of operators have to deal with demanding security requirements to ensure the safe operation of power plants and to cope with plant lifetime extension (PLEX) related issues. AREVA disposes of a long tradition in the development of fatigue and structural health monitoring solutions. Nuclear and conventional power plant applications require the qualified assessment of measured thermo-mechanical loads. The methodology is transferable to mechanical loading conditions such as those of wind energy plants. The core challenge is the identification and qualified processing of realistic load-time histories. The related methodological requirements will be explained in detail. In terms of the nuclear industry, the ageing management of power plant components is nowadays a main issue for all actors: states, regulatory agencies, operators, designers or suppliants. As regards fatigue assessment of nuclear components stringent safety standards imply the consideration of new parameters in the framework of the fatigue analysis process: • new design fatigue curves, consideration of environmental fatigue (EAF) parameters and • stratification effects. In this general context AREVA developed the integral approach AREVA Fatigue Calculation (AFC) with new tools and methods in order to live up to operators’ expectations: Simplified Fatigue Estimation (SFE), Fast Fatigue Evaluation (FFE) and Detailed Fatigue Check (DFC). Based on real measured thermal loads and superposed mechanical loads the Fast Fatigue Evaluation (FFE) process allows a highly automated and reliable data processing to evaluate cumulative usage factors of mechanical components. Calculation and management of results are performed within the fatigue assessment software FAMOSi (FAatigue MOnitoring System integrated), thus impact of operating cycles on components in terms of stress and fatigue usage can be taken into account in order to plan optimized decisions relating to the plant operation or maintenance activities. This paper mainly describes the fatigue and structural health methodologies developed within the AREVA Fatigue Concept (AFC).
