Abstract:
This essay examines how anime streaming platform Crunchyroll leveraged fan labour to become an industry leader in the anime distribution market. Before becoming a global leader in streaming anime, the site was known in the mid-2000s as an anime piracy site, largely functioning on fan labour for uploading its content. This essay combines Marxist political economy, discursive analysis, and fan studies methodologies to analyze how Crunchyroll capitalized on unpaid fan labour to transform itself from a popular piracy site into a legitimate streaming platform.

Ambient wind has a negative effect on mechanical forced-draft direct air-cooled steam condenser (ACC) fan volumetric performance, and increases dynamic fan blade loading. Investigating these effects directly using on-site measurement or numerical analysis is complicated, and most previous work has focused on only one effect at the expense of the other. In this study, fan axial velocity inflow uniformity is identified as a single metric offering the potential to holistically qualify ACC fan operation under windy conditions. Determining ventilation rates in commercial animal buildings has been technically challenging. This study aimed to develop an innovative method and a ventilation model and provide new insights into animal building ventilation. A layer house with 46 fans was studied over six months. Results indicated that the house differential pressures (dP) varied from +10.4 to <−100.0 Pa but remained between −10 and −30 Pa for 75.7% of the time. Abstract:
The National Radioactive Waste Storage and Disposal Site was established in 1959 in the Faizabad region approximately 50 km east of the capital, Dushanbe. The site is located on the southern flank of the Fan Mountains facing the Gissar Valley in a sparsely populated agricultural area, with the nearest villages located a few km from the site. The site was initially designed to accept a wide range of contaminated materials, including obsolete smoke detectors, sealed radioactive sources, waste from medical institutions, and radioactive liquids. Between 1962 and 1976, 363 tonnes and 1146 litres of

Full text
Abstract:
The objectives of this project were to predict the performance of naturally and fan-ventilated greenhouses as a function of climate, type of crop, evaporative cooling and greenhouse size, and to estimate the effects of the two cooling systems on yield, quality and disease development in the different crops under study. Background In the competitive field of greenhouse cultivation, growers and designers in both the US and Israel are repeatedly forced to choose between naturally ventilated (NV) and fan ventilated (FV) cooling systems as they expand their ranges in an effort to remain profitable.

Abstract:
US Army Corps of Engineers–Norfolk District (NAO) requested assistance from the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) to examine currently used placement sites within the James River, Virginia, initiative area, determine potential risk to critical environmental receptors during placement, and predict the life cycle of the placement sites. The focus of the analysis within this work is the Jordan Point placement site. The far-field, fate-transport modeling at Jordan Point shows relatively low maximum values of suspended sediment concentration (less than 40 mg/L) and deposition

Fire Service Summary Report: Study of the Effectiveness of Fire Service Positive Pressure Ventilation During Fire Attack in Single Family Homes Incorporating Modern Construction Practices. UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.54206/102376/ncck4947.

Abstract:
There is a continued tragic loss of firefighter and civilian lives, as shown by fire statistics. One significant contributing factor is the lack of understanding of fire behavior in residential structures resulting from the use of ventilation as a firefighter practice on the fire ground. The changing dynamics of residential fires as a result of the changes in home construction materials, contents, size and geometry over the past 30 years compounds our lack of understanding of the effects of ventilation on fire behavior. Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans were introduced as a technology t

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Electrical vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles for urban air mobility (UAM) are garnering increased attention from both the automotive and aerospace industries, with use cases ranging from individual transportation, public service, cargo delivery, and more. Distributed electric propulsion systems are their main technical feature; they determine vehicle size and propulsion efficiency and provide distributed thrust to achieve attitude control. Southwest Utah contains what may be the largest landslide complex on land in the world. This complex includes three ancient side-by-side gigantic slides that cover an area roughly the size of Yellowstone National Park with a volume of slide debris that would nearly fill the Grand Canyon to its rim. Geologists call it the Marysvale gravity slide complex— “Marysvale” for the namesake volcanic field that partly failed catastrophically three separate times, and “gravity slide” to call attention to a special class of extremely large and geologically complex landslides several tens to thousands of s

An archaeological site report of an excavation of the Empress Place site in Singapore. Empress Place was the fourth site excavated in Singapore, and the first and so far the only ancient site located directly on the Singapore River’s bank. The opportunity to investigate this site arose when it was decided to convert the Empress Place Building into a permanent Asian Civilisations Museum under the National Heritage Board. The project began in January 1998, during the rainy season and the excavation was completed in May the same year. Empress Place was occupied during the 14th through 16th centur
