Abstract:
ABSTRACT This article reveals the types of characters and characterizations in the text of fantasy stories for Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 21 Padang. There are two objectives of this research. First, describe the types of characters that the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Padang appear in in the text of the fantasy stories they write. Second, to describe the character presence techniques used by SMP Negeri 21 Padang students to bring out the character of the characters in the fantasy stories they write. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The main instrument of this research is the researcher himself. Data were collected using documentation techniques, which are still archived by Indonesian language subject teachers. There are two findings in this study, namely (1) the types of figures that students tend to appear in the text of the fantasy stories they write are fictional characters, additional characters, protagonists, white characters, flat characters, and static characters, but other types of characters. students still use them in the text of their fantasy stories, and (2) the techniques for the presence of figures that are often used by students are analytical techniques, action techniques, and word techniques. However, the students still use the technique of the presence of other figures. Kata kunci : tokoh, penokohan, teks cerita fantasi

Abstract:

Abstract:
In this paper I want to discuss an issue (usually perceived as an ethical one) which has generated a great deal of feminist discussion and some profound disagreement. The issue arises as follows. One of the most important targets of feminist action and critique has been male sexual violence and control of women, as expressed in rape and other forms of violent or aggressive sexual acts, and as represented in much pornography. Pornography itself has been the subject of major and sometimes bitter disagreements among feminists, especially around the issue of censorship. But it is not that with which I am concerned here. The issue which I want to discuss involves the question of sexual desire and fantasy, and their apparent potential incompatibility with political and ethical principles. This is by no means, of course, an issue of exclusively feminist concern; but I shall focus on some recent feminist argument, since it is that with which I am most familiar.

Abstract:
Reasoning about ideological criticism through literary work can be seen from how the literary work represents the ideology of the author as a critical form of social dominated ideology. The matter is when the criticism exactly shows paradox with what the author delivered, so the type of ideological criticism has been described by the author with real literary work which uses language as a medium. Therefore, the author's subjectivity of literary work is just symbolization which forms as post-ideology and it is termed by Žižek as cynicism which only appears on the level of ideological fantasy. This matter is applied by the researcher to analyze Danarto’s short story Godlob. This research focuses on Danarto’s ideology which is offered as radical acts by the characters. This research method leads to textual and objective analysis to detect radical action in Godlob Short Story. The result of the textual analysis is presented with the subjectivity of the author, which produces harmony as well as the paradox of radical action. This is what described in the discourse of Danarto's short story Godlob about; (1) how the radical actions of the characters are depicted in the Godlob short story, and (2) how ideological fantasies are generated through the encounter of both literary subjects in the Godlob short story. The goal is to see that ideological criticism through literary works is not only through the phenomenon but also through the reality itself. In other words, by analyzing radical action textually and then confronted with the author's subjectivity, the paradox of ideological criticism can be embedded in the discourse of this study. Based on the analysis, literary works as a criticism shows how ideological fantasy comes as a result of the cynicism of the author. Danarto seemed to be immersed in an ideology that he criticized in his work.

Abstract:

This essay covers computer gaming as seen from a perspective of gender theory. The main purpose of the essay is to examine women’s relationship to computer games, and more specifically women’s attitudes to the games they play. The theoretical basis for this essay is sprung from a hermeneutic perspective. The empirical basis for analysis consists of two in depth interviews and game analysis of the two computer games Counter Strike and Final Fantasy XI. The theories and previous research we have taken in consideration discuss topics like computer usage, gender studies, identity, identification, cyborg theory, subculture, fanculture and narration. This essay has shown that the two computer games contain multiple gender related and theory relevant connotations. The aspects of the games the informants consider important in the identification process mainly consist of game related communion and the interaction with other players. Both informants have presented several views on what they find important in the process of identification and what they chose to discard.

Abstract:
From the late Nineteenth Century, in particular through Richard von Krafft-Ebing’s studies, new concepts have shaped the representations of sexual perversion. The study of the sexual dynamics in homicide cases changes the common methods of crime scene classification. In the Twentieth Century, these historical approaches lead to the study of a rare and particular phenomenon: serial sexual homicide. During the 1980s, the F.B.I dominates the field of practices and knowledge concerning the serial murder issue. Today, that domination is challenged. The F.B.I’s profiling methods are qualified as pseudo-scientific practice. Serial murder is nowadays more perceived as a simple social construction initiated by the Conservative politics of the Reagan years. According to some psychiatrists, the motivational model of the F.B.I has given a misleading picture of serial murder. The aim of the present work is to show that the main issue may not be to deconstruct the F.B.I’s studies, but to compare these first studies with current scientific research. Criminal profiling might be a method whose basic elements are likely to be corrected and completed. In this perspective, competing theoretical models, especially those held by psychoanalysis, also raise a number of difficulties. Of course, the intensity of sadistic fantasies can’t be the only dimension of criminal behavior. But fantasies probably interact with the desires and beliefs of the murderers. If serial sexual homicide appears to be, as most commentators agree, as a series of ritualistic acts, an anthropological approach may be legitimate. From this point of view, concepts such as “psychopathy”, “death drive” or “narcissism” do probably conceal the existence of a scapegoat mechanism by which killers are creating their own religion or mythology

The active imagination was the technique that Jung used the most, in the access of his unconscious contents and the guided imagination appeared at the same time, based on the jungians constructs. However, due to the shortage in recent publications about it this research became necessary, aiming at the research about authors and works that describe techniques, methods and ways of working with active imagination or guided imagination in the jungian psychotherapy. The systematic review method was chosen, and two studies were realized for the active imagination and guided imagination: one of them aiming at the classic literature that helped building the method and techniques used nowadays; the other one aims at the recent literature, present in publications that are more recent. The classic literature study started with Jung’s complete works, up to the moment when the publications became rare. The recent literature study was based on the main academic database, considering the last ten years. For the active imagination, we found 15 classic authors and 23 publications, 10 recent authors and 11 publications. The classic literature focuses on descriptions, methodology and case studies that use the techniques. The recent literature presents some recurring topics: theory, analysis of artistic work, countertransference, mourning and supervision. For the guided imagination, 7 classic authors were found and 8 works. The classic literature begins in the clinical environment, considering just two works. We concluded that there is shortage in publications about the techniques involving imagination in psychotherapy; maybe indicating that they are not being used in clinical practice or that there is the need for more actual research that guides its application

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Theatre in its most crude, poignant, and honest form exists as the unapologetic mirror of our world. It houses the piercing reflections of mankind's hope, fear, self-doubt, passion, joy, despair, brilliance, destitution, and desire. It becomes the image of all that man hopes to be, yearns to achieve, and knows he has destroyed. Theatrical performance is without equal in its ability to conjure visible truth from the reflection man sees everyday and hopelessly fails to recognize. Ultimately, theatre demands that man see himself without the masks of excuse, ignorance, or makeup. It is the vision of this journey to honor theatre's mask-less demand. Through the development of a multi-scene theatrical performance; the collection and analysis of relevant research material; and the cultivation of a comprehensive journal outlining the processes, the challenges, and the revelations that will travel the same road--from the cluttered moments of conception to the still air of an empty room after an exhausting final bow--only a mirror will remain. Each component--production, research, and journal--will function as equally essential elements. They will illuminate the evolution of fully realized theatre and detail the composition of a common theatrical message: Truth is both the seed of desperation and discovery.

Abstract:
This diploma project is in 2 parts. The first part is a program for a so called segregated area where the focus is on acting now, and trying to combine working with social mobilization with an architect's role. The second part is my design proposal, which is a part of this program. Anticipating 2020 is a program for projects spanning over 6 years in Hovsjö, Södertälje that I curate. 5 architects are invited to do one project each. The task is to build a structure or an event, temporary or not, that can inform, spark fantasy, discuss and in other ways be a part of a planning process as well as instant- and future change in Hovsjö. Its purpose is to discuss the existing and possible urban life in relation to planning and upgrading sptially segregated areas in general and the city area Hovsjö in particular. Once a year one architect will do one project or event. I will do the first project in the program, Installation 2014. The program focuses on the role of the architect and architecture in spatially segregated areas, the public spaces that were the outcome and consequence of the functionalist/modernist urban planning, the notion of temporality and events in relation to architecture and vague spaces and creative loopholes.  For whom, by whom and with whom are cities planned? The intention with my design proposal, the Installation 2014, is to create a diversity of public room types and scales in Hovsjö. To be able to keep a big open space open but at the same time being able to have smaller rooms within the big area. To work with a geometrical element - the spehere - trying to describe outdoor public rooms rahter then enclosing them by building walls.

Svenson, Lembke Jenny. "Bodies of Water: The Question of Resisting or Yielding to the Active Unconsciousness in D. H. Lawrence’s Women in Love." Thesis, Stockholms universitet, Engelska institutionen, 2014. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:su:diva-113166.

Full text
Abstract:
D. H. Lawrence believed the individual psyche to consist of two parts: the active unconsciousness and the mental consciousness. The active unconsciousness is a sort of life force within the individual, and one that allows the individual a true connection to the world. It is also closely related to the body, and sometimes called “blood-being” or “blood-consciousness.” The mental consciousness could be said to be the “intellect” in the individual psyche, dealing with abstractions and ideas. Lawrence insists that contemporary society’s prioritizing of the functions of the mental consciousness leads individuals to allow it too much influence over their life. This ultimately leads them to become dominating, willful and deadly. Lawrence’s 1920 novel Women in Love is an allegory of what Lawrence saw as the detrimental effect on individuals by the over-emphasis on rationality in contemporary society, and also of the struggle to find a way back to a more natural way of existing in the world. This essay argues that the processes of, and struggle between, the mental consciousness and active unconsciousness, are illustrated in images of water. Surface and merging imagery connotes denial of or loss of contact with the active unconsciousness, eventually leading the individual to seek death. Flood and submersion imagery connotes a possibility to find a way back to a life lived in and through the active unconsciousness. Fountain imagery and images of water connoting growth and openness connote the strong, creative life force inherent in the active unconsciousness. However, some water imagery in the novel also contradicts any notion of a stable balance—Lawrence universe is one where death and destruction is a necessary component of life and creativity.

Abstract:
Dinosaurs, dragons, weapons, spaceships, aliens, fire, monsters, dangerous animals. Never interested me. That's why they interest me. Through intuitive sculpting, stories about my traumas, lusts and needs are formed, and about the society they exist in. I can see a tension towards the boy I never was/the man I never became, and a longing after to now approach him om my own terms. The sculptures are crooked, weak, broken, naive and weird, and in this becomes a vital space where that is allowed. The pieces are standing with the underdogs. In a movement upwards.

Abstract:
The aim of this essay is to analyse the story of Alatiel in its philosophical context, comparing the novella with the erotic and ethic conceptions in Middle Ages. From this point of view, it is possible to recognize two models in the story: the first is embodied by the lovers of the young woman and their savage behaviour, which seems to annihilate reason and morals, in line with the comment of Dino del Garbo to Donna me Prega. The second model is proposed by Alatiel, forced to indulge fortune’s will. Around this antithesis Boccaccio develops his narrative technique, switching focalization from Alatiel to her lovers, and again to Alatiel, to debate about one of the most important themes of the whole Decameron: human action between the context created by the fortune and moral choice.

Abstract:
This chapter focuses on fantasy and reaches back to Alexander Kluge's days as an honorary professor lecturing on film and television at Goethe University Frankfurt in 1973. Kluge explains that fantasy is a divided product in the society. He then looks at what Karl Marx has to say about the original concept of labor. Marx mentions it twice, for example, when he explains that a craftsman, when making something like a chair, first forms an image of the chair in his mind and makes a plan before then setting to work with his hands to make this plan a reality. This is an example of the unified path of labor between the activity of the mind and the activity of the hands. Kluge also discusses the imaginative capacity. Sigmund Freud described this imaginative capacity not only in terms of psychoanalytic theory or out of a specific therapeutic interest. Rather, Freud described it and pursued it on account of a general theoretical interest. Freud said that the law of this imaginative capacity exists in people. It is the law of the human mind. Freud said not only that it is influenced by libidinal control and the negotiation of reality, but also that the brain triggers the perception of actual circumstance and then remembers something from the past, a conflict, a desired situation, or a wish. From there, a projection of a concrete action is cast onto the future.

Abstract:
This chapter examines Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It argues that the whole night's action is presented as a release of shaping fantasy which brings clarification about the tricks of strong imagination. We watch a dream; but we are awake, thanks to pervasive humor about the tendency to take fantasy literally, whether in love, in superstition, or in Bottom's mechanical dramatics. As in Love's Labour's Lost, the folly of wit becomes the generalized comic subject in the course of an astonishing release of witty invention, so here in the course of a more inclusive release of imagination, the folly of fantasy becomes the general subject, echoed back and forth between the strains of the play's imitative counterpoint.

Abstract:
Rhonda Nicol’s “‘Don’t Underestimate Her Ability to Talk, it’s Her Superpower’: Epistemic Negotiation and the Power of Community in Carrie Vaughn’s Kitty Norville Series” interrogates the action heroine of the urban fantasy genre. By contrast to most authors of the genre, Carrie Vaughn, posits Nicol, highlights her protagonist’s interpersonal skills and community-building abilities, making them equal in value to physical power. The series thus posits a heroine easily identifiable to female urban fantasy readers while she questions the value of toughness for female empowerment.
