In the construction industry, fall accidents are a critical form of accident. This research examines fall accidents in formwork operations that occurred between 1995 and 2015. This study examines the different dimensions of fall incidents, such as the level of severity of formwork activities, fall height and causes of falls using the 205 construction industry accidents reported in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) database, a regulatory agency in the USA. The findings revealed that most fall incidents occur at the height of less than 9.1 m (30 ft), mostly due to unprotec

The agency of the individual is confined within the ramifications of these programmatic concepts. This chapter addresses early events in Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban regime. The United States took steps to create a new government and constitution, but was preoccupied with the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Meanwhile, an internal struggle to fill the power vacuum ensued between local warlords who each aimed to exploit U.S. efforts according to their interests. Without a governing strategy that looked beyond the ouster of the Taliban, the United States eventually found itself unable to adapt to a dynamic situation.

One of the great historical problems at the dawn of the modern age is the emergence of the Ottomans and consequent collapse of the Byzantine empire. When Osman, the eponymous founder of a mighty future empire, was born, his people were a tribe still wandering, or perhaps recently settled, in the land which was to give birth to their state. It is well known that fall hazards are one of the most common causes of accidents, injuries and death in the workplace including industrial painting projects. Many of these falls occur when using ladders. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for example, in 2009 20% of fatal falls in all workplaces were from ladders. OSHA estimates that there are 24,882 injures, with nearly half of those injuries serious enough to result in lost work time, and 36 fatalities every year.

Abstract Since their development in the early 90s to help prevent slip and fall accidents and avert workers compensation claims, anti-slip coating systems have been successfully applied in Western Canada on up to 25,000 tons of structural steel. Polyurethane finish coats that contain judiciously selected polyolefin bead media have been found to greatly improve the footing for ironworkers during erection of structural steel and also improve the loading and unloading of steel beams. Fall-related occupational injuries and fatalities are serious problems in the U.S. construction industry. An important sub-set of falls-to-lower-level incidents is when workers fall through openings or surfaces, including skylights.
