Abstract:
The study of 23 excrements of Far Eastern skinks collected on the Kunashir Island revealed 75 species of invertebrates that served for the skinks as a food source. Coleopteran (41 taxa from 14 families) were most diverse, which is explained by the good preservation of chitin of beetles during passage through the digestive tract of lizards. The crickets Dianemobius fascipes nigrofasciatus (Matsumura, 1904) (96 specimens), caddisflies (Trichoptera indet. 2, 36 specimens), and barkflies (Psocoptera indet., 19 specimens) prevailed in number of identified specimens in the samples.

Abstract:
The article provides an analysis of the mobilization strategies of far-right movements from the Czech Republic and Germany based on the content they provide via hyperlinks on their websites. Vertical and reticular characteristics of the hyperlinked pages have been analyzed, two aspects which form central parts of the mobilization strategies of social movements. The vertical level refers to territorial relations, while the reticular level refers to relations with other actors. The analyses confirmed that the movements focused on the vertical level to their countries of origin. With respect to reticular characteristics the type of hyperlinked content neither differs significantly throughout countries, nor throughout segments of the far-right movement. Additionally, the analysis of the type of hyperlinked content provides insight into the general mobilization strategies employed.

Abstract:
The scholarship on the far right has often interpreted nativist organizations as straddling the conceptual space between party and movement. These groups contest elections in order to gain representation in office, yet they also seek to mobilize public support to engage contentious issues like social movements. Despite theoretical commonalities, very little empirical research has focused on far-right “movement parties” as collective actors operating both in the protest and the electoral arenas. The article redresses this inconsistency by exploring the organizational and strategic configuration of two far-right collective actors—the Hungarian Jobbik and the Italian CasaPound. Deploying original interviews with high-ranking officials, the analysis enhances our understanding of the internal “supply side” of the far right as well as empirical knowledge on hybrid organizations that emerge from grassroots activism and successively organize to pursue the electoral option.

Abstract:
Abstract. During the Sporadic E Experiment over Kyushu 2 (SEEK-2) campaign, field-aligned irregularities (FAIs) associated with midlatitude sporadic-E (Es) layers were observed with two backscatter radars, the Lower Thermosphere Profiler Radar (LTPR) and the Frequency Agile Radar (FAR), which were located 40 km apart in Tanegashima, Japan. We conducted observations of FAI echoes from 31 July to 24 August 2002, and the radar data were used to determine launch timing of two sounding rockets on 3 August 2002. Our comparison of echoes obtained by the LTPR and the FAR revealed that echoes often appeared at the FAR about 10min earlier than they did at the LTPR and were well correlated. This indicates that echoing regions drift with a southward velocity component that maintains the spatial shape. Interferometry observations that were conducted with the LTPR from 3 to 8 August 2002, revealed that the quasi-periodic (QP) striations in the Range-Time-Intensity (RTI) plots were due to the apparent motion of echoing regions across the radar beam including both main and side lobes. In most cases, the echo moved to the east-southeast at an almost constant altitude of 100–110 km, which was along the locus of perpendicularity of the radar line-of-sight to the geomagnetic field line. We found that the QP pattern on the RTI plot reflects the horizontal structure and motion of the (Es layer, and that echoing regions seemed to be in one-dimensionally elongated shapes or in chains of patches. Neutral wind velocities from 75 to 105 km altitude were simultaneously derived with meteor echoes from the LTPR. This is the first time-continuous simultaneous observation FAIs and neutral wind with interferometry measurements. Assuming that the echoing regions were drifting with an ambient neutral wind, we found that the echoing region was aligned east-northeast-west-southwest in eight out of ten QP echo events during the SEEK-2 campaign. A range rate was negative (positive), when a frontal structure of echoing regions elongated east-northeast-west-southwest drifts with southward (northward) neutral wind. Keywords. Abstract:
The far infrared lenses are widely used in vehicle and night vision instrument. A new far infrared lens is proposed to enhance their performance of danger recognition at night. It focuses on the infrared light of wavelength from 8µm ~12µm. The lens is based on the uncooled infrared detector with 320x240 pixels. Its main structure is made of one refractive-diffractive aspheric lens and two spherical lenses. To improve the luminous flux, the f-number is set to be less than 1. The field of view (FOV) of 23 degrees is wide enough to help monitor the dangerous signal around the car or community. In addition, in order to reduce the cost and improve the machinability of aspheric diffractive lens, the hot-moldable chalcogenide glass is chosen to be the material of lenses. As a result, the MTF (modulation transfer function) values of lens exceed 0.5 for all field angles at Nyquist frequency. It shows that the lens enjoys high imaging quality.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to assess the incidence and mortality rates of female reproductive system cancer in the Far Eastern Federal District over the last ten years (2008–2017).Material and Methods. In our study we used statistical reports on the female reproductive system cancer incidence and mortality rates and 10-year follow-up data.Results. In 2017, 25155 new cases of female reproductive system cancer were diagnosed in the Far Eastern Federal District (26.6 % higher than in 2008). A total of 128776 patients (2.1 % of the population of the region) were followed up. Over the study period, there has been increase in the number of patients with stage I–II breast cancer (+4.8 %), cervical cancer (+6.3 %), uterine body (+3.9 %) and ovarian cancer (+5.7 %), with simultaneous reduction in the number of patients with advanced stages, except ovarian cancer (+5.0 %). For the past 10 years, cancer incidence rates have been steadily increasing, while cancer mortality rates have been decreasing with the exception of cervical cancer (+13.7 %). Morphological confirmation of the diagnosis (over 90 %) exceeded the national average ones. The number of patients followed-up for 5 or more years appeared to be lower than the average values in Russia; however the 1-year mortality rates after diagnosis improved. Ovarian cancer remains the most deadly of the gynecological cancers (22.9–27.9 %).Conclusion. Over the last ten years in the Far Eastern Federal District, in contrast to the overall decline in the mortality rates, there has been a steady increase in the incidence rates of female reproductive system cancer, except for cervical cancer.

Abstract:
The queue discharge problem at a signalized intersection was analyzed with application of the modified Pitt car-following system. The Pitt car-following system was implemented on an Excel spreadsheet in the form of a prototype simulation model. The situation consisted of a single intersection in which discharging vehicles were unconstrained by downstream conditions. It was asserted that the car-following parameters used in the queue discharge problem are significantly different from those used in the uninterrupted-flow problem and that this is consistent with the two-fluid model. A number of scenarios were executed for each situation, using the spreadsheet implementation to examine a number of issues, including the effect of the following: free-flow speed, car-following parameter variations, vehicle length, heterogeneous traffic streams, and lane changing. It was shown that all of these issues have significant effects on discharge headways and that the Pitt car-following system has a far wider range of applicability than the simple equal headway model. The intuitiveness of the findings and calibration and validation issues were also addressed.

Abstract:
The present study measures time poverty and its incidence across gender, occupational groups, industries, regions, and income levels using Time Use Survey (TUS) 2007, the first nationwide time use survey for Pakistan. In the entire TUS sample, the incidence of time poverty is 14 percent. Women are found to be more time poor than men whether employed or not. This is because of certain women-specific activities that they have to perform irrespective of their employment status. Working women are far more time poor than those not working.. Women accepting a job have to make a major trade-off between time poverty and monetary poverty. People working in professions and industries that generally require extended work hours and offer low wage rates are more time poor. This entails a situation of double jeopardy for workers who tend to be money and time poor at the same time. The close association of time poverty with low income found in this study corroborates this conclusion. Government can help reduce time poverty by enforcing minimum wage laws and mandatory ceiling on work hours in industries with high concentration of time poverty. Eradication of monetary poverty can also eliminate the need to work long hours at low wages just to survive. A fair distribution of responsibilities between men and women.is also needed. Abstract:
Abstract. Nonlinear transformation and runup of long waves of finite amplitude in a basin of variable depth is analyzed in the framework of 1-D nonlinear shallow-water theory. The basin depth is slowly varied far offshore and joins a plane beach near the shore. A small-amplitude linear sinusoidal incident wave is assumed. The wave dynamics far offshore can be described with the use of asymptotic methods based on two parameters: bottom slope and wave amplitude. An analytical solution allows the calculation of increasing wave height, steepness and spectral amplitudes during wave propagation from the initial wave characteristics and bottom profile. Three special types of bottom profile (beach of constant slope, and convex and concave beach profiles) are considered in detail within this approach. The wave runup on a plane beach is described in the framework of the Carrier-Greenspan approach with initial data, which come from wave deformation in a basin of slowly varying depth. The dependence of the maximum runup height and the condition of a wave breaking are analyzed in relation to wave parameters in deep water.

Abstract:
Thermoinhibition and photosensitivity are two characteristics of lettuce seed that frequently affect its stand. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the hypothesis that lettuce seed germinability and longevity are affected by the red to far-red light ratio (R:FR) under which seeds maturate. ‘Tango’ lettuce seeds were produced in growth chambers under one of two treatments: 1) red-rich light (R treatment) and 2) far-red-rich light (FR treatment). For both treatments, the percentage of normal seedlings germinated at 20 °C–light was ≈100%. When germinated under the light, seeds from the R treatment exhibited a higher germination percentage and a faster germination (under a broader range of temperatures) than seeds from the FR treatment. When germinated in the dark, seeds from the R treatment germinated 100% between 12 and 23 °C and over 50% at 30 °C, whereas seeds from the FR treatment germinated less than 35% between 12 and 23 °C and less than 5% at 30 °C. Seeds from the R treatment had lower abscisic acid (ABA) content and were better able to germinate when exposed to external ABA concentrations than seeds from the FR treatment. Seed longevity as assessed by the accelerated aging test was higher in seeds from the FR treatment, indicating that red-rich light was detrimental to longevity. In another experiment, lettuce seeds that developed under similar conditions were harvested at approximately the moment of maximum dry weight accumulation and desiccated in dark, far-red, red, or fluorescent + incandescent light. Seeds desiccated under red light exhibited higher dark germination than the other treatments; however, no differences were observed in thermoinhibition or longevity. These results suggest that lettuce seed produced in an environment with a high R:FR light ratio will exhibit reduced thermoinhibition and photosensitivity as compared with production in a lower R:FR light environment.

Abstract:
<p>We present physical properties of a region in the interstellar medium where the past evolutionary remnant of pulsar evolution is observed. For this, a systematic search of dust structure in the far infrared (100 μm and 60 μm) IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite) survey was performed using Sky View Observatory. Our selection criteria are as follows: (a) Cavity should be greater than 0.25 degree in diameter and (b) the cavity should have 3-fold minima in flux density. In the 100 micron infrared map, a new cavity-like isolated far infrared dust structure (size ~ 1.62 pc x 0.98 pc) is found at R.A. (J2000) 18h 33m 14.8s and Dec. (J2000) -60° 23' 24". We have studied flux density variation and temperature variation within the structure. We found that the dust color temperature varies from 22.78 K to 24.78 K, with offset of 2 K. The dust mass of each pixel of the region of interest was calculated using their dust color temperature. The excess mass in the region was found to be 1.62 x 1023 Kg. The energy required to create that inhomogeneity in the structure is calculated to be 3.24 x1035 J.</p><p><strong>Journal of Nepal Physical Society</strong><em><br /></em>Volume 4, Issue 1, February 2017, Page: 33-41</p>

Abstract:
Worked bone and antler tools were regularly used by prehistoric societies in northwest and western Anatolia to create and maintain everyday items. Uğurlu, one of the most important prehistoric sites in the north east Aegean, shows extensive evidence of bone and antler tool manufacture. This article examines the Uğurlu osseous assemblage from its inception during the Early Neolithic (6800 cal BC) to the middle Chalcolithic (4300 cal BC). A typology is established which labels the 534 items uncovered thus far, supported by contextual information. A comparison with other bone tool assemblages in the region is also presented, highlighting group similarities and type differences. The results show that few bone tools were found in the Early Neolithic Phase VI (6800– 6600 cal BC), while pointed tools dominate Phase V (6600–5900 cal BC). The established Neolithic Phase IV (5900–5600 cal BC) witnesses a dramatic growth in the number of bone tools produced, which is steadily adapted with the advent of the Chalcolithic Phase III (5500–4900 cal BC). During this transition between the Neolithic and Chalcolithic, certain tool types decline in number and manufacturing style changes. In the middle Chalcolithic Phase II (4500–4300 cal BC), bone objects seem to be crudely made, possibly reflecting the emergence of local traditions.

Abstract:
The ecological structure of diatoms communities was researched from sediments of the First Razdolnaya river terrace (Southern Primorye). The obtained data allowed to establish climatic rhythmics and the related transgression-regression cycles, are typical for the area of researches. The analysis of the replacement lagoon-marine diatoms complexes by lacustrine, alluvial and marsh ones allow us to establish the amplitudes of the Japan Sea fluctuations and ingression penetration into river valley. The maximum of the ingression penetration (up to 23 km from sea-shore) toward river-valley corresponds to Holocene climatic optimum. The sea level could exceed modern on +3m at this time and influenced on the coastline formation.

Abstract:
Social movement scholars have recently turned their attention to the interactions between political parties and social movements, but little is known about how social media have impacted these relationships, despite widespread adoption of these technologies. We present a case study of the relationship between Britain First, a far-right anti-Muslim social movement, and the U.K. Independence Party, the Eurosceptic political party that spearheaded the Brexit campaign. The movement appeared marginal in the press but it dominated social media, using this presence to support to the party. We examine the dynamics of the relationship between these groups from 2013 until 2017, drawing upon data from social media, newspapers, and other online sources, and focusing on interactions between elites and rank-and-file supporters. Our findings illustrate how far-right groups have used new technologies to generate an unprecedented amount of popular support and to attempt to influence the political mainstream.

Chalcogenide glasses are suitable for far-infrared and imaging applications. In the present study, Sb10Se90-xGex (x=0, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27) system has been chosen to study structural transformations via physical parameters. Bulk samples with x = 0, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 have been prepared using the melt-quenching technique. A theoretical study of the ternary glass system revealed that there was a significant change in the structural environment of the system due to rigidity percolation, which took place as Se was replaced by Ge, and hence resulted in changes in other physical parameters of the system.
