Abstract:
This article uses collaborative auto/ethnography to explore the circulation and potentiality of affect in the live performances and archive of Pretty Porky and Pissed Off (PPPOd), a Toronto-based queer fat activist performance art collective active during the late 1990s and mid-2000s. Drawing on video and audio recordings of five PPPOd performances alongside other performance ephemera and a series of conversations relating to these archival objects among the article’s three authors, we identify and theorize our affective responses to and situated recollections of these performances, both in their current form as archival objects and as historical live events. We argue that PPPOd’s archival objects/live performances disrupt the constellation of affects that constitute fat hate (e.g., fear, loathing, shame) and set in motion more affirmative affects (e.g., playfulness, pride, desire, love) that contribute to micro-worldings and prefigurative fat politics, as ephemeral as these might be. In capturing these fleeting moments of radical possibility, PPPOd’s activism and archive offer opportunities for touching and feeling a future where fat lives are more livable.

Abstract:
The association between the organic movement and ‘alternative medicine’ may have been one reason for the failure of the McCarrison Society in Britain to appeal to many National Health Service doctors and dentists. This is unfortunate because the aims of the McCarrison Society have nothing to do with any system of medical care. Our hope is to prevent disease by promoting McCarrison's teaching that man is perfectly adapted to his food supply as it occurs in nature and that the greatest single cause of the diseases of industrial peoples is their dependence on foods made worthless or harmful by processing and refining. This teaching applies to the modern epidemic of coronary heart disease. The evidence incriminating natural unprocessed fat as a cause of this disease is unconvincing.

Abstract:
This artide is analysing contemporary cultural menings of the fat male body. More specifically it is looking into how the fat, male body is used as a cultural symbol for the crisis of a white, heterosexual working-class masculinity, in relation to the hegemonic masculine (and fallic) body as hard, muscular and impermeable. Two British movies are used as illustrating examples, both dealing with the male working class anti-hero as facing social and economic marginalisation and loss of power: The Full Monty by Peter Cattaneo (1997) and All or Nothing (2002) by Mike Leigh. Both these movies have leading male characters who are fat/overweight. They are not only represented as marginalised because of unemployment and an inability to construct masculinity around work and the identity as provider, but they are also positioned as marginalised because of theirdeviant bodies. The movies are analysed within the social and cultural context of an increasing visibility (and nomalization) of the fat man in movies and sitcoms (primarily in the USA), the increasing media objectification of the male body, weight, eating and appearance as becoming issues for men, and finally, the highly moralizing and stigmatizing "fat is bad" discourse which dominates Western culture. The analysis focus on how both the character Dave in The Full Monty and the character Phil and hisson Rory in All or /Vof/7/'ngare feminized in relation to the other male characters and in relation to women. They are represented as without traditional male characteristics such as assertiveness, aggressivity and sexual potency. For example Dave is depicted as being ashamed of his body, deeply concerned of his weight and appearance, occupied with finding ways to reshape his body through dieting etc. He manifests an objectified body consciousness, usually associated with women and femininity. In the conclusion Johansson argues that both movies represent the fat male body in a ambivalent and contradicting way, outlining different alternatives for the fat characters to deal with marginalization and loss of masculine power. One way is to try to fulfil the traditional norm of working class masculinity, to be hard working and sexually potent, and be able to earn the epithet of "big and strong" rather than "fat and weak". The other way is to "do" masculinity in new ways and to perform femininity. Johansson argues that the actual turning points for the characters of Dave and Phil, the shift from shame and passivity to pride and activity, are the scenes when they openly acknowledge their shame and vulnerability, and when they are met with acceptance and love. Although none of the movies challenge male dominance, the way the representations of the fat, white, heterosexual working dass man transgress stereotypes, could possibly open up for alternative representations of masculinity. Through a practice of communication the fat male figure ceases to symbolize the subordination of the white, heterosexual working dass man in relation to a hegemonic ideal. Instead he becomes an adive subject, embodying hope, respect, closeness and pride.

Abstract:
Currently, there is a wide variety of dry cat food, which makes it difficult to choose truly high-quality nutrition for your pet. In order to determine the quality of ready-tofeed, we compared complete dry food for kittens of the Bist, Pet-pride, Proplane and Probalance brands. As a result of the study, it was found that Bist, Pet-pride and Probalance brands contain more than 30% meat in their composition, the Proplane brand contains the least amount of meat in the food. Bist brand food has the most abundant and varied composition, rich in nutrients, since it consists of freeze-dried meat that retains its beneficial properties, other brands contain dehydrated meat, in which the beneficial substances lose their qualities during dehydration. When assessing the moisture content of the food, it was determined that Bist brand food exceeds the declared indicators by 2.3%. In other brands of food, this indicator is lower than the declared figures. The crude fat content in the feeds only in the Probalance brand feed corresponds to the declared figure and even exceeds the declared figure on the packaging by 2%. In the other brands of feed studied, the crude fat content was lower than the declared parameters by 2.0-4.3%. The ash content in the studied feeds was lower than the declared figure on the packaging only in the Bist brand feed – 5.2%, in the other feeds this figure exceeded the declared figures, but remained within the permissible limits. Protein – an important figure in all brands of feed studied was lower than the declared parameters by 1-4%, but corresponded to the permissible norm of up to 36%.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Although stigma was first theorized as a basic social process, its contemporary developments have been highly compartmentalized. Understanding the nature of stigma—how it operates across subjects and circumstances—requires a return to general theory. The authors take this general turn, focusing on stigma’s discursive element. Through combined case studies of race, disability, and fat stigma (134 interviews with 146 parents), they develop the stigma discourse-value framework (DVF) as a theoretical scaffold for stigma discourse studies. The DVF includes three value-oriented categories: stigma as deficit, value-neutral diversity, and value-added pride. Tracing commonalities and divergences within and between cases vis-à-vis the DVF, the authors show stigma discourse to be a multifaceted interpersonal process that variously reflects, reinforces, and challenges stigmatizing social structures.

Abstract:
Objective Weight stigma is pervasive and is associated with negative health and psychological outcomes. Few studies have examined weight stigma perpetration or the emotions individuals experience after perpetrating weight stigma. This study used experience sampling to explore the nature and frequency of weight stigma behaviors and cognitions and moral emotions (shame, guilt, remorse, pride) in the perpetrator following weight stigma perpetration. Methods Participants were college students (N = 31, 77.1% female). Participants completed baseline measures of anti-fat attitudes and one week of experience sampling phone prompts assessing: (1) weight stigma behaviors and cognitions and (2) moral emotions. Generalized estimating equation analyses were used to model trajectories of moral emotions after weight stigma events. Results Thirty-one participants reported 1,008 weight stigma events over 7.5 days. Feelings of guilt, shame, and remorse decreased after weight stigma perpetration. Individuals also reported feeling less proud after engaging in weight stigma. Conclusions Weight stigma occurs frequently as reported by perpetrators. A lack of remorse, guilt, and shame is evident in undergraduates after they express weight stigma; however, individuals in this study also reported feeling less pride after perpetration. This study highlights the need for future studies to explore the expression of weight stigma from the perspective of perpetrators instead of targets. Results highlight the pervasiveness and normative nature of weight stigma perpetration in everyday life and the need to better understand the emotional response following weight stigma perpetration as a potential mechanism of its perpetuation.

Michael, Mike. "London’s fatbergs and affective infrastructuring." Social Studies of Science 50, no. 3 (2020): 377–97. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/0306312720917754.

Abstract:
This exploratory article considers the accumulations of fat and other materials in London’s sewerage system – known as fatbergs in the UK – in terms of the processes of infrastructuring. In particular, drawing on a range of media, including a major museum exhibition, numerous newspaper and online articles, and a TV documentary, this article analyses how London’s fatbergs have been affectively enacted. The affects identified include: disgust in the composition of the fatberg, pride in the London-ness of the fatbergs, admiration at the ‘flushers’ courage, generic horror at the sewers, shame in the flushing of wet wipes, and anxiety about microbial threats. Such enactments simultaneously perform the fatbergs, the sewerage infrastructure, and the public audiences, through what we can call ‘affective infrastructuring’. This extends the analysis of infrastructuring to encompass the ways in which public audiences are affectively ‘made’. The article also suggests that the various affective enactments of the fatberg cumulatively perform London as spatially uniform and the sewerage system as temporally naturalized. A critical implication of this is an effacement of, on the one hand, class and cultural difference and, on the other, historical specificity.

Abstract:
Some of the key components that contribute to the acceptance of high-quality fresh mangoes by consumers are its flavour, odour, texture and chemical constituents that depend mainly on level of maturity. In the European market, the demand for tree-ripened fruit has increased in recent decades. Nevertheless, the qualitative response and the marketable characteristics of tree-ripened mango fruit grown in the Mediterranean area are not yet studied. Tree-ripened fruits of cv Keitt, Glenn, Osteen, Maya, Kensington Pride and Tommy Atkins were submitted to analytical (fruit weight, transversal diameter, longitudinal diameter, flesh firmness, total soluble solid content, titratable acidity, seed weight, peel weight, percentage of flesh and fibre, ash content, fat content, carbohydrate content, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, K, Na, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn contents, ascorbic acid and vitamin A) and sensory evaluations. Significant differences were observed for sensory and physicochemical characteristics in a cultivar-dependent manner. The mango Keitt, in addition to its interesting physicochemical traits, content of protein and vitamin, has a higher sensory appeal. Glenn fruit showed more suitable weight, flesh firmness, soluble solids, vitamin content, total antioxidant activity and total polyphenolics content; Maya had the lowest titratable acidity and the highest soluble solid content, whereas Tommy Atkins revealed preferable ground colour, total antioxidant activity, and vitamin B2 and vitamin C contents. Tree-ripened fruits grown in the Mediterranean climate show interesting peculiarities in regard to fresh market requirements. The analytical-sensory approach established a qualitative characterization of the six observed cultivars.

Abstract:
Sudden, large price changes periodically occur in speculative markets. Many of these large price moves simply reflect the market’s reaction to new fundamental economic information-- as financial theory would predict. However, some of the most extreme price moves—often characterized (albeit incorrectly) as “Black Swans” in popular parlance--reflect more the predictable behavior of traders in certain situations or poorly designed market microstructures than the arrival of new fundamental information. These trading-induced price moves have important implications for practitioners, policymakers and academics alike.

People without any comorbidities are also diagnosed with the lot of health complications at early age because of alcohol consumption. Our aim of the study is to identify the lipid changes in chronic alcoholic patients and how it effects on their health. To monitor the lipid changes in alcoholic persons.A prospective observational study was conducted for duration of six months, the data has been collected in 456 patients over six months of period and the data was collected with informed consent from the persons. All the data was collected by interacting with persons by using data collection form and laboratory reports were studied. In our study, 456 male populations were included. Out of 456 members, 272 people were alcoholics, and 184 members were non-alcoholic. Out of 272 population 180 are chronic alcoholics and 92 are occasional alcoholics. Out of 456 members young adults (18-25) 182 (39.9%) persons and old adults (26-40) were 274 (60%) persons296 members are taking alcohol with food and 160 members are taking without food. Out of 456 population 438 (96%) persons are non-vegetarians and 18(4%) members are vegetarians. Out of 272, 104 members were drinking beer, 58 were cheap liquor, 25 were Officers' choice, 18 were royal stag, 22 were blenders pride, 15 were signature, 23 were mixed brands, and 7 were others. In our study 156 persons were drinking sweetened beverages, 52(33.3%) members are daily beverage intakes and 104(33.3%) Members are occasionally beverage intakes. According to our study most commonly used sugary beverage brands are thumps up 93(59%), 48(31%) Sting,15(10%) other sugary beverages. Out of 156, Triglycerides were elevated in 47 and LDL was elevated in 36 persons, VLDL elevated in 4 persons and T. Cholesterol elevated in 5 members, Normal lipid profile in 64 persons. Out of 456 persons, 314(69%) are undiagnosed and 142(31%) are diagnosed with lipid changes. According to our common complications associated with alcohol consumption 39 were cardiac, 56 were hepatic, 9 were renal, and 38 were others (pancreatitis, stroke, cholelithiasis). In our study, we concluded that alcohol consumption will mainly affect triglyceride levels. Elevation of triglyceride levels is associated with the quantity and duration of alcohol intake. Normal Intake of alcohol does not cause lipid changes. Excessive intake of beer and cheap liquor increases TG. Excessive alcohol intake and fat intake will increase the LDL, Triglycerides, VLDL and decrease HDL. Excessive intake of sweetened beverages may also cause dyslipidaemia. Because it contains a high number of calories. The most common complication associated with elevation of triglycerides are hypertension, cardiovascular disease. Alcohol intake with food or without food shows the same complications but the absorption of alcohol may vary with food. Alcohol consumption with fat intake will cause hyperlipidaemia.

Abstract:
A total of sixty reproductive crossbreed cows were selected for this experiment which were divided into  two groups in equal numbers of 30 animals in each.  Animals in control group (C) were maintained as per the traditional practices of the farmer where as treatment groups were fed bypass fat @ 200 g along with mineral mixture 100gm per day   for 45 days per animal in (T1 )group. The performances were measured in tunes of milk yield, fat percentage; SNF percentage and price of milk realized by the farmers and net return   were calculated. The average daily gain in milk per animal, fat percentage and SNF percentage   of the treatment group differed significantly at  (p<0.05) from the control group. Higher percentage of fat   , SNF in milk and   net return was achieved in treated group followed by control group. Due to increase in fat and SNF % percentage in milk the price realized by the dairy farmers was higher as compared to control group.  The higher percentage of milk yield and milk Fat % was in treated group. It may be concluded that mineral mixture and bypass fat supplementation increased milk yield and fat percentage of milk and milk price of crossbred cows, which increased dairy farmer’s net return.

Abstract:
Abstract Aims/hypothesis Variants close to the VPS13C/C2CD4A/C2CD4B locus are associated with altered risk of type 2 diabetes in genome-wide association studies. While previous functional work has suggested roles for VPS13C and C2CD4A in disease development, none has explored the role of C2CD4B. Methods CRISPR/Cas9-induced global C2cd4b-knockout mice and zebrafish larvae with c2cd4a deletion were used to study the role of this gene in glucose homeostasis. C2 calcium dependent domain containing protein (C2CD)4A and C2CD4B constructs tagged with FLAG or green fluorescent protein were generated to investigate subcellular dynamics using confocal or near-field microscopy and to identify interacting partners by mass spectrometry. Results Systemic inactivation of C2cd4b in mice led to marked, but highly sexually dimorphic changes in body weight and glucose homeostasis. Female C2cd4b mice displayed unchanged body weight compared with control littermates, but abnormal glucose tolerance (AUC, p = 0.01) and defective in vivo, but not in vitro, insulin secretion (p = 0.02). This was associated with a marked decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone levels as compared with wild-type (WT) littermates (p = 0.003). In sharp contrast, male C2cd4b null mice displayed essentially normal glucose tolerance but an increase in body weight (p < 0.001) and fasting blood glucose (p = 0.003) after maintenance on a high-fat and -sucrose diet vs WT littermates. No metabolic disturbances were observed after global inactivation of C2cd4a in mice, or in pancreatic beta cell function at larval stages in C2cd4a null zebrafish. Fasting blood glucose levels were also unaltered in adult C2cd4a-null fish. C2CD4B and C2CD4A were partially localised to the plasma membrane, with the latter under the control of intracellular Ca2+. Binding partners for both included secretory-granule-localised PTPRN2/phogrin. Conclusions/interpretation Our studies suggest that C2cd4b may act centrally in the pituitary to influence sex-dependent circuits that control pancreatic beta cell function and glucose tolerance in rodents. However, the absence of sexual dimorphism in the impact of diabetes risk variants argues for additional roles for C2CD4A or VPS13C in the control of glucose homeostasis in humans. Abstract:
This study provides empirical evidence for the proposition that asset price booms matter because they tend to bring about the worst output, price, and inflation outcomes in the case of eight East Asian countries, namely, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The main findings are: (i) asset price booms in housing and equity markets, especially in housing, significantly lower the conditional mean of real output growth and raise those of the price-level gap and inflation, and also raise the conditional variance of all three variables; and (ii) expected real output and price-level outcomes that are obtained without conditioning on asset price booms, or are obtained conditionally on asset price booms using the normal distribution, both underestimate the risk of the worst outcomes occurring and lead to less pessimistic but misleading inferences. These findings are not premised on the ability of central bankers to be able to identify correctly asset bubbles ex ante. One possible implication for monetary policy is that central bankers ought to be wary about the occurrence of any large increase in asset prices and consider an approach that is ex ante more compatible with risk management.

Abstract:
Modifications of the Cont-Bouchaud percolation model for price fluctuations give an asymmetry for time-reversal, an asymmetry between high and low prices, volatility clustering, effective multifractality, correlations between volatility and traded volume, and a power law tail with exponent near 3 for the cumulative distribution function of price changes. Combining them together still gives the same power law. Using Ising-correlated percolation does not change these results. Different modifications give log-periodic oscillations before a crash, arising from nonlinear feedback between random fluctuations.

Abstract:
Consumption of agents for manual and machine washing of dishes is constantly increasing. Although the growth of the use of dishwashers is evident, hand dishwashing is still dominant in our region. A good dishwashing detergent must effectively remove food residues and degrease the surface of dishes, made of different materials, while the surfaces of washed dishes should remain smooth, shiny with a pleasant smell of freshness. The requirements of consumers-users of these funds are, in addition to the listed basic functions, also practicality of handling and dosing, pleasant smell and mild action on the hands and acceptable price. The aim of this paper is to examine the degreasing efficiency of commercial detergents from our market on four types of fats. In addition to commercial dishwashing detergents, whose composition is known only roughly indicated in the producer declaration, was tested a laboratory prepared sample with exactly known composition. All tests of the degreasing ability of dishes with different types of impurities were performed under the same conditions with a change in the concentration and type of detergent, and according to the method used by some industrial detergent manufacturers. It was found that in addition to the concentration of detergent in the washing solution, the degreasing efficiency is affected by the type and concentration of surfactants, as well as auxiliary components that are part of the product.

AbstractWe show how fat tails in agricultural commodity returns arise endogenously from productivity shocks in a standard macroeconomic model. Using nearly ninety years of data, we show that the eight agricultural commodities in our sample exhibit fat-tailed return distributions. Statistical tests confirm the heavy-tailedness of price spikes for agricultural commodities. We apply extreme value theory to estimate the size and likelihood of price spikes in agricultural commodities. Back-testing verifies the validity of our risk assessment methodology.

Abstract:
The objective of the study was to compare through simulation Holstein and Jersey breed herds, considering the farm size, zootechnical and economic indexes and profitability of the activity, by using different systems of bonus payment for milk price based in percentage of fat and protein in the milk. The comparisons were made, initially, disregarding the bonus payment for milk price based on the increase in the fat and protein percentage in milk. After that, the profitability of the activity was compared considering bonus payment for milk price of the Jersey breed herd, for each unit increment in fat and protein percentage in milk above those obtained with the Holstein breed herd. Finally, the profitability of the activity was compared by using the bonus payment for milk price based on quality of that used by company A systems. When there was no bonus payment for milk price based in the percentage of fat and protein in the milk, the profit obtained with the Holstein breed was higher because of the lower production costs. In order to make the activity more profitable with the Jersey breed, a bonus payment of 5% for milk price would be needed for each percentage unit of fat above the percentage of that obtained with the Holstein breed, or a bonus payment of 10% in the milk price for each percentage unit of protein above the percentage obtained with the Holstein breed. By using the bonus payment system proposed by Gimenes and Ponchio, the annual profit with the Jersey breed was higher than the profit obtained with the Holstein breed. However, with the application of the bonus payment system used by company A, the Holstein breed became more profitable than the Jersey breed.

Abstract:
Purpose This research aims to investigate how consumers’ authentic pride versus hubristic pride affects different construal levels of mind-sets and subsequent product evaluation by activating local versus global cognitive appraisal tendencies. Furthermore, this research also examines how lay theories impact the effects of pride on construal levels and how power moderates the effect of hubristic versus authentic pride on product preferences varying in construal levels. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on cognitive appraisal and construal level theories, this research conducts eight experimental studies to test the hypotheses with an ANOVA, bootstrap analysis and binary logistic regression analysis. The details of the experiments are presented in the paper. Findings The results show that people feeling authentic (hubristic) pride dominantly adopt a lower (higher) level of construal, and consequently put more weight on feasibility over desirability (desirability over feasibility) attributes. Authentic pride’s inclination to appeal behavior-specific appraisals triggers local appraisal tendencies and bestows lower construal levels, whereas hubristic pride’s inclination to connect the entire self triggers global appraisal tendencies and confers higher construal levels. Incremental (vs entity) theorists are likely to attribute the pride experience to their efforts (traits), and thus feel authentic (hubristic) pride. Furthermore, the product preferences of people experiencing authentic vs hubristic pride depend on their power state. Research limitations/implications Notwithstanding the importance of this research, it is worthwhile to note some of its limitations to encourage future research. First, eight studies in the lab were conducted, but no real behavior study was conducted. Although there is a high correlation between the results of lab studies and those of real behavior studies, the authors encourage future researches to elicit the consumers’ pride in the actual consumption situation using a real behavior study. Furthermore, this research mainly focuses on pride, and does not examine other positive emotions, e.g. happiness. Therefore, the authors encourage future research to examine other positive emotions. Practical implications The findings suggest that it is appropriate to use construal levels to match consumers’ pride types. In fact, marketers can induce hubristic pride or authentic pride in ads by simply using words or sentences (“feeling proud because of your hard work” or “feeling proud, you are so superior and remarkably unique”), and present either higher- or lower-level construal of desired behaviors to improve advertising effects. Originality/value The research contributes to literature by documenting how hubristic/authentic pride can affect distinct construal levels via activating global/local appraisal tendencies. And this research thoroughly illustrates the mechanism by which hubristic/authentic pride activates global versus local appraisal tendencies. More importantly, this research finds how lay theories affect construal level given a pride experience and it also corroborates the moderating effects of power in the proposed relationship, which establish the boundary conditions of the effects of prides on construal levels.

Abstract:
Study was conducted to compare the effect of full fat soybean and non-fat soybeans meals in broiler diets on their growth performance. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) day old mixed sex chicks purchase from a reputable farm were used for this study, which lasted for eight weeks. The birds were reared on deep litter floor pens using wood shavings as litter material. The birds were brooded in the same pen for two weeks and randomly divided into two (2) groups of 60 birds per group. Data collected were subjected to General Linear Model procedure of the statistics analysis system SAS statistical package. Statistically significant means were compared using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) Duncan. The results of the experiment carried out on the assessment of weight gain on broiler fed full - fat soybean showed that the final body weight, weight gained, average daily weight gain, total feed intake per bird and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of the birds increases significantly (p<0.01) across the treatments. The final body weight in T3 (4005.00g) was similar to T4 (4140.00g), which were higher than treatment T1 (3510.00) and T2 (3600.00g). The cost price per kg in T3 (47270.75±0.00) N/kg and T4 (7519.06±0.00) N/kg were similar and higher, followed by T2 (6525.84±0.00) N/kg whereas the least cost price per kg was observed in T1 (6360.29±0.00) N/kg. Further studies should be carried out to find other possible ways to influence the real performance of broiler on full fat and non - fat

Abstract:
In developing countries, milk quality characteristics are not maintained by the milk producers and the middlemen. This study initially estimates the influence of various milk quality attributes on its price and then estimate the effect of socio-demographic characteristics on the marginal price of the milk components. Data collected from milk consumers through personal interview method, and milk sample took from the same consumers are used to estimate a two-stage hedonic model. In the first stage, prices were estimated for milk components and in the second stage, implicit price of each component was used as the dependent variable. The first stage results show that fat, solids-not-fat, total plate counts, color, and pleasant aroma have a significant impact on the milk price. The second stage results indicate that fat and solids-not-fat values are a function of the sociodemographic characteristics of consumers. To maintain milk quality attributes, we recommend the establishment of chilling centers for maintenance of quality, checkpoints and mobile laboratories for testing quality, provision of basic testing equipment at subsidized rates, hygiene awareness program for stakeholders in value chain, health risk awareness for consumers consuming raw milk and its products, and introduction and popularization of enzyme-based lactoperoxidase preservation technology.

Abstract:
A breeding objective (aggregate genotype) for dairy cattle based on returns, net of feed costs, from yield of fat, protein and carrier (the non-fat, non-protein component of the milk) was developed. Returns were estimated using a forecast of the future Australian dairy market structure, and feed costs were estimated from the metabolizable energy required to produce each of three milk components. The effects of erors in forecasting future conditions on economic weights and efficiency of index selection of sires were examined.Economic weights varied widely when subject to errors in the price of milk components within markets, errors in the export price for milk and errors in feed cost.Selection based on an optimal index of sire expected breeding values for fat, protein and milk was sensitive to low export market prices, high feed costs, high protein price and high carrier price. This index was quite insensitive to variation in prices and costs opposite in sign to those above, to variation in milk prices on the domestic markets, and to variation in the size of quotas on domestic markets.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTAnimals from Soay, Welsh Mountain, Southdown, Finnish Landrace, Jacob, Wiltshire Horn and Oxford Down sheep breeds and a breed of feral goats were slaughtered when 0·40, 0·52, 0·64 or 0·76 of mature body weight. The effects of stage of maturity, breed and sex were examined in the following traits: gut content as a proportion of slaughter weight; blood, omental plus mesenteric fat, perirenal fat, alimentary tract, ‘remainder’ of non-carcass parts and hot carcass, each as a proportion of fleece-free empty body weight; also shoulder, rib, loin and gigot joints and their commercially higher-valued (prime) and lower-valued cuts, each as a proportion of carcass weight. As a proportion, gut content declined as animals matured, as also did blood, alimentary tract, ‘remainder’, prime shoulder, shank and prime gigot. Increasing proportions were internal fat depots, the hot carcass, rib, loin and gigot flank. Males accumulated significantly less internal fat and more shoulder than females. When equally mature in live weight, males had proportions that were significantly lower for perirenal fat, rib and gigot and higher for shoulder and pelt plus head, feet and organs. There were significant inter-breed regressions on mature body weight. The proportion of blood, alimentary tract, pelt plus head, feet and organs, and prime gigot declined with breed size, while hot carcass, brisket, rib and loin proportions increased. These regressions were attributed to a non-random sample of breeds. The small Soay breed had proportions of internal fat and hot carcass which were well below average, and higher proportions of blood, alimentary tract and ‘remainder’. Soay sheep also had a higher proportion of commercially higher-valued cuts in the carcass. In contrast, the large Oxford Down breed had low proportions of non-carcass components (except alimentary tract) and high proportions of lower-priced cuts and prime rib. Feral goats had a greater, and Southdown sheep a smaller, proportion of gut content than other breeds.

Abstract:
Purpose: Modifications to the amount and type of fat in the diet are recommended as strategies to help reduce heart disease risk. Individuals can choose from a variety of margarines and oils to alter their intakes of different types of fats, and nutrient content claims on product labels (e.g., ‘low in saturated fat’) can help them quickly identify healthful products. However, margarines and oils vary in price. Methods: To examine the relationship between the price and amounts of saturated and trans fats in margarines and oils, and the relationship between price and the presence of nutrient content claims, price and label information were recorded for margarines (n=229) and oils (n=342) sold in the major supermarkets within the Greater Toronto Area. Results: Linear regression analysis revealed a negative relationship between the price and amounts of saturated fat and trans fats in margarines, but not in oils. Margarines with a nutrient content claim were significantly more expensive than were those without a claim. Conclusions: The findings for margarines are of particular concern for lower income groups for whom budgetary constraints result in the purchase of lower priced foods, and also raise important questions about the usefulness of nutrient content claims in guiding food selections.

Abstract:
Against the backdrop of the continuous large-scale growth of imported milk in China, in this research 310 consumers in Shanghai were used as a sample, and a choice experiment was conducted to study consumer preference and willingness to pay for imported milk. The following product attributes were included: nutrition claim, fat content, flavor, country of origin, and price. Our results show that, excepting price, consumers consider flavor the most important attribute, followed by nutrition claim, fat content, and country of origin. Consumers can be delineated into four segments based on consumer preference for the attributes of imported milk: “nutrition claim seekers” are willing to pay the highest price for imported milk with nutrition claims, “indifferent” consumers pay little attention to imported milk attributes, “flavor-oriented” consumers have a strong preference for strawberry-flavored imported milk, and “price-sensitive” consumers weigh the price when choosing imported milk.

Abstract:
This study investigates the substitution and complementary effects for beef mince attributes drawing on data from large choice experiments conducted in the UK and Spain. In both countries, consumers were found to be willing to pay a price premium for the individual use of the labels “Low Fat” (UK: €3.41, Spain: €1.94), “Moderate Fat” (UK: €2.23, Spain: €1.57), “Local” (UK: €1.54, Spain: €1.61), “National” (UK: €1.33, Spain: €1.37), “Organic” (UK: €1.02, Spain: €1.09) and “Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG)” (UK: €2.05, Spain: €0.96). The results showed that consumers in both countries do not treat desirable food attributes as unrelated. In particular, consumers in Spain are willing to pay a price premium for the use of the labels “Local”, “Organic” and “Low GHG” on beef mince that is also labelled as having low or moderate fat content. By contrast, consumers in the UK were found to discount the coexistence of the labels “Low Fat” and “Organic”, “Low Fat” and “Low GHG” and “Moderate Fat” and “Low GHG”. The results, however, suggest that in the UK the demand for beef mince with moderate (low) fat content can be increased if it is also labelled as “Organic” or “Low GHG” (“Local”).

Abstract:
Nobel-Prize-winning Black-Scholes equations are actively used to estimate the price of options and other financial instruments. In practice, they provide a good estimate for the price, but the problem is that their original derivation is based on many simplifying statistical assumptions which are, in general, not valid for financial time series. The fact that these equations are effective way beyond their usual assumptions leads to a natural conclusion that there must be an alternative derivation for these equations, a derivation that does not use the usual too-strong assumptions. In this paper, we provide such a derivation in which the only substantial assumption is a natural symmetry: namely, scale-invariance of the corresponding processes. Scale-invariance also allows us to describe possible generalizations of Black-Scholes equations, generalizations that we hope will lead to even more accurate estimates for the corresponding prices.

Abstract:
Hubristic characters, in Greek mythology and in later eras, have been looked at negatively. Once a hubristic character emerges, that would provoke nemesis. Consequently, society would punish him/her since she/he allegedly challenges the gods, ignoring warnings and laws of society, and that would present him/her as someone rude and challenging the norms. Accordingly, such a hubristic character would eventually face moral, spiritual, and physical downfall. However, it seems that presenting a hubristic character in Greek mythology and in later eras in such a negative way is a mere fallacy. In fact, effective pride springs from certainty and over-confidence. Consequently, in demonizing effectively proud characters, they unconsciously impede and restrict human abilities and passions from unleashing against the negatively effective forces of external nature and internal human one, which need great toil to endure.
This paper attempts to, first, explore and study the actions and psyche of the proud Captain Ahab of Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. Its second objective is to study the importance of pride and its great effects on the psyche and behavior of the above mentioned hero and on astonishingly shaping the whole course of evolution of incidents. Third, it aims at showing the noble human passions and abilities propelled by his effective pride where he employs them against the forces of nature. Fourth, it also aims at showing his individuality against the forces of nature and how his effective pride mediates in his inner impulses as an organizer, pushing them forward rather than backward. Accordingly, his pride emerges as an effective force challenging the forces of nature. Captain Ahab appears proud of his abilities and passions. In other words, he well recognizes that he is determined, courageous, daring, fearless, and tenacious. Finally, it concludes that effectively pushing pride foregrounds the captain as extremely effective, influential, and inspiring. He prides himself on the positive attributes which he has, and this eventually makes him infinitely and imperiously assertive, insistent, and equivalent to the forces of external nature where he becomes, in spite of his death, not only a hero but also an inspiring one.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to evaluate an influence of housing technology and slaughter weight of slaughter pigs on realization with SEUROP system. Slaughter pigs of hybrid combination (Czech Large White × Czech Landrace) × Duroc were studied for reasons of an experiment. Analysed were 733 pigs. Slaughter pigs fattened on deep-bedded pens reached higher slaughter weight, higher back fat thickness, higher muscle deep, higher price per 1 kg of slaughter weight in comparison with pigs on slatted floor pens, but on the contrary they reached a lower portion of lean meat. These data were determined in pigs on deep-bedded pens: 117.58 kg slaughter weight, 16.78 mm of back fat thickness, 61.30 mm of muscle deep, 55.53 % of lean meat portion and price 32.15 Kč per 1 kg of slaughter weight. These data were determined in pigs reared on slatted floor pens: 110.82 kg slaughter weight, 14.38 mm of back fat thickness, 56.67 mm of muscle deep, 57.11 % of lean meat portion and price 31.86 Kč per 1 kg of slaughter weight. A statistical conclusive difference on a level of importance P ≤ 0.01 was found between pigs bred on deep-bedded pens and on slatted floor pens in traits slaughter weight, back fat thickness, muscle deep and meatiness. From experiment it is obvious that for 1 kg of slaughter weight in all business classes SEUROP higher price was in pigs fattened on deep-bedded pens in comparison with pigs fattened on slatted floor pens.

Abstract:
To achieve a high level of productivity during early lactation, a significant concentration of metabolizable energy in the dry matter of the diet (up to 11-12 MJ) as well as crude fat (including protected) in the dry matter (5-6%) must be ensured. This
can be achieved by additionally introducing vegetable oils and fats into the diet of animals. The contains the results of studying the effectiveness of the use of energyfat concentrates in cows’ diets. It was found that their use as a supplement to dairy cows instead of soybean meal made it possible to reduce the share of feed in the milk sale price structure. The profit from additionally obtained milk when using energy-fat concentrates amounted to 75.9 rubles, 106.3 and 60.7 rubles.

Abstract:
Derived is an analytic dynamic model of the price distribution of consumer goods in retail markets. The stationary price distribution is established from the conservation equation of offered units and two simplifying assumptions. Under the condition that independent traders make small random price variations around a nearly constant supply price, the stationary price distribution of a good must have the form of a fat-tailed Laplace distribution. The standard deviation of the distribution is determined by the price volatility of the goods. Also, the price distribution of an ensemble of goods is established and applied to empirical data with good quantitative agreement.

We assume the market price to diffuse in a hierarchical comb of barriers, the heights of which represent the importance of new information entering the market. We find fat tails with the desired exponent for the price change distribution, and effective multifractality for intermediate times.

Abstract:
To determine whether athletes are confused about supplementation, this study examines the relative levels of adult runners’ and triathletes’ preferences for postexercise recovery drink attributes (price, fat, taste, scientific evidence, and endorsement by a celebrity athlete), and the ways those preferences segment. It then examines the effect of athlete characteristics on segment and drink choice. Only a plurality of athletes (40.6%) chose a carbohydrate-protein postexercise recovery drink (the optimal choice), despite the fact that they valued scientific evidence highly. Athletes disliked or were indifferent to endorsement by a celebrity athlete, moderately disliked fat, and slightly preferred better tasting products. Cluster analysis of part-worths from conjoint analysis identified six market segments, showing that athletes anchored on one or two product attributes when choosing among alternatives. Multinomial logistic regression revealed that media influence, hours trained, market segment, gender, and the athlete’s sport significantly predicted drink choice, and that segment partially mediated the effect of sport on drink choice. Findings demonstrate confusion among athletes when there are competing products that each claim to support their training.

Abstract:
<strong>The high price of wheat flour coupled with an unfavourable climatic condition for profitable wheat production in Nigeria has led to the search for alternative flours for the production of bakery and deep fat fried foods, such as bread, chinchin, buns, doughnuts, etc. In this project, malted sorghum flour was used with cassava and rice flour as binders for the production of buns (a deep fat fried product). Buns were formulated from 100% flour; 25% fat; 30% sugar; 2% salt; 10% egg and 20% water. The effects of percentage binder used, temperature and time of frying on oil penetration were investigated. Proximate analysis of the product showed that moisture content ranged from 10.5% to 11.6%; ash content from 1.15% to 1.25%; protein content 4.64% to 4.77%; fibre content 0.35% to 0.4% and the volume was the same</strong><strong>,</strong><strong>&nbsp;about 208.86cm</strong><strong>3</strong><strong>irrespective of the binder used. The extent of oil penetration decreased with increasing binder: flour ratio as well as with increased temperature of frying, but increased with time of frying until after 420 seconds when it becomes constant. The sensory evaluation of 15</strong><strong>-</strong><strong>&nbsp;member panel rated the buns above 7 points in a 9-point hedonic scale</strong><strong>.</strong>
