Nowadays, designing and adopting sustainable and greener transport systems is of upmost interest. The European Commission and different EU countries are developing plans and programs—but also delivering resources—aimed at the decarbonization of cities and transport by 2030. In this paper, the case study of the city of Brescia, a city of about 200,000 inhabitants located in northern Italy, is addressed. Specifically, a preliminary operational and financial feasibility study is performed assuming the replacement of the entire compressed natural gas (CNG) powered bus fleet of a specific line; the

The present study proposes a fuzzy logical control-based real-time energy management strategy (EMS) for a fuel cell electrical bus (FCEB), taking into account the durability of the fuel cell system (FCS), in order to enhance both the vehicle’s economic performance and the FCS’s service life. At first, the model of the FCEB is established whilst the power-following strategy is also formulated as a benchmark for the evaluation of the proposed strategy. Subsequently, a fuzzy logical controller is designed to improve the work efficiency of the FCS, in which the battery state-of-charge (SOC) and th

Growing concerns about climate change and the increasingly stringent emissions standards have compelled public transport operators to embrace alternative propulsion vehicles on a broader scale. As a FEA method is used to simulate blast attenuation with a foamed concrete board (FCB), effects of different factors on simulation results are studied. These factors include different boundary conditions, FCB thicknesses, FCB densities, and element sizes. Understanding the effects of these factors are very important prior to practically using FCB for the purpose of the blast attenuation in a structure design. The effectiveness of the blast attenuation is measured by the reduction of peak pressure acting on a rigid wall (RW) that is immediately behind and adhered to FCB. The simulation result

Abstract:
The capacity of power grid in China increases rapidly. Because of the reliability of multi-infeed DC system in the grid, power system damping is relatively weak. Realizing isolated island operation of thermal power units with FCB (fast cut back) ability is considered to be the best solution of quick restoration of power grid. Taking a 1000MW USC (Ultra-supercritical) unit as an example, based on the data of the unit’s load refection tests, this paper conducts a look at several aspects of research: (1) predicting the maximum speed rise of rotor during FCB process with different loads by using S
