We contribute to the foreign direct investment (FDI) literature by providing first empirical evidence on the relative importance of location fac- tors for service and manufacturing FDI. When a child for some reason can’t live with their parents it is up to the welfare system to provide a home and care for that child. In Sweden long-term foster care placements are the most common state interventions for those children. Recent studies have shown that as much as one out of four foster care placements break down in the child’s adolescent years. To experience one or a series of tough separations from important elders has shown to have negative effects on the development of the child. This does not align with the welfare systems’ responsibility to always act in favor of the child.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka det stöd och den hjälp familjehemsplacerade barn har fått av socialtjänsten. Fem personer som har varit placerade i familjehem under sin uppväxt har intervjuats och materialet har sedan analyserats med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. <p>This thesis analyses what effects foreign direct investments (FDI) has on a firm’s gross profit, wages and labour productivity. Focus is on the Swedish industrial goods and service sector which has shown on a rapid growth of offshore production. We use a theoretical framework with FDI and productivity theories. As a result of cost efficient alternatives to domestic production, a firm’s productivity should fall in the case of increased foreign production.
