Abstract:
Despite evidence showing that emotion dysregulation is a key feature of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), it remains unclear how the process of emotion regulation is disrupted in this population. This thesis makes an original contribution to knowledge by exploring how emotion regulation is conducted by individuals with high levels of Borderline Personality Features (BPF), in an attempt to clarify the features of emotion regulation that may be problematic for these individuals. The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the relationships between personality traits, dysfunctional schemas and personality disorder (PD) features. Previous research has established that personality traits and dysfunctional schemas are associated with personality disorders (PDs). However, comparatively little research has examined the relationships between personality traits and dysfunctional schemas or explored whether dysfunctional schemas have incremental validity in the prediction of PD features over and above personality traits. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by patterns of intense negative affect, interpersonal difficulties, and maladaptive impulsive behaviors, and is associated with impairments in social and occupational functioning. Abstract:
This study explores the personality features hypothesized to underlie, and differentiate, Kohlberg's moral typology. Kohlberg and colleagues proposed a moral typology, based on Weber's notion of ideal types, to describe the development of autonomous moral reasoning. Kohlberg's typology consists of the heteronomous moral type and the autonomous moral type. The typology is considered a developmental construct; for those individuals who do develop autonomous moral reasoning typically make the transition from heteronomous to autonomous reasoning in adolescence or early adulthood. Previous researches have studied the polysomnographic (PSG) features of these patients. It was found that 21.4 to 25.0 % of them showed sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) and/or periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD). However, the rest of them showed unremarkable PSG findings. Of evolutionary importance and public interest, physiognomy has inspired many contemporary psychological studies in social cognition, particularly in facial perception, such as research of babyfaceness and facial width-to-height ratio (fWHR). Previous research has found that heuristically predefined facial metrics, be they local or global features of a face, can somewhat predict social judgments, such as perceived dominance and election result

Abstract:
The current study examined attachment and borderline features in a sample of adolescents whose mothers have Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) (n=28) and normative comparison adolescents (n=29) using self-reports of parental attachment and borderline features. Statistical analyses revealed, with marginal significance, that adolescents of mothers with BPD provided lower ratings of parents as sources of support than comparison adolescents, but no difference for parents as facilitators of independence. However, adolescents of mothers with BPD did provide lower ratings of affective quality of p
