Habitualment les línies de transmissió i les guies d'ones metàl·liques són les solucions adoptades, però en el primer cas es presenten pèrdues al ser solucions impreses i en el segon cas un mal contacte metàl·lic comporta fugues de camp. Organic semiconductors are a new key technology for large-area and flexible thin-film electronics. They are deposited as thin films (sub-nanometer to micrometer) on large-area substrates. The technologically most advanced applications are organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic photovoltaics (OPV). For the improvement of performance and efficiency, correct modeling of the electronic processes in the devices is essential. Reliable characterization and validation of the electronic properties of the materials is simultaneously required for the successful optimization of devices. Further

Abstract:
This study investigated how the process performance of air gap membrane distillation be enhanced by the application of vacuum to treat hypersaline feed solutions. A vacuum-enhanced air-gap membrane distillation (V-AGMD) configuration was set up and sub-ambient pressure was applied in the air gap to remove non-condensable gases and reduce conductive heat transfer for enhancing the flux and thermal efficiency. The process was evaluated in comparison to the AGMD process while varying operational parameters such as the mean temperature (Tm), difference of temperature in heating and cooling streams

Abstract:
Research in organizational identity as pioneered by Albert and Whetten (1985) provides that organizational identity is central, enduring and distinctive. As Gioia et al. (2013) put it, “what we know about organizational identity, including its dynamic aspects, is based on the study of organizations located within a single and uniform geographic market (U.S./European) and/or stable institutional environment (developed markets)” (p. 180). This study thus carries research in organizational identity forward by locating it at an integrated food manufacturing company, Feed Me Ventures Limited, in th

With the widespread use of doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG) in wind energy conversion systems, condition monitoring is being given importance. Non-intrusive techniques like motor current signature analysis (MCSA), which involves looking for specific frequency components in the current spectrum, are preferred over analysis of magnetic field, temperature, vibrations or acoustic noise which require additional sensors. The major difficulty in MCSA is isolation of the fault, as multiple faults produce similar signatures. Moreover, closed-loop control makes diagnostics more complicated due to

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different dose levels of aguamiel (Agave atrovirens) on in vitro cecal gas, methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO¬2) productions of five forage species (Avena sativa (hay)), Moringa oleifera, Caesalpinia coriacea, Salix babylonica and Eichhornia crassipes) using inocula from horse. The forage samples were incubated with three doses of aguamiel: 0, 34 and 68 µg of aguamiel/g dry matter (DM) of substrate. Cecal inocula were collected from 4 adult female Criolla horses (3 to 4 years of age and weighing 300 ± 15.0 kg) grazed on native grasses for about eig

Small-scale solid biomass-fuelled cookstoves are highly important to satisfy the energy demand of nearly half the world’s population. With this as a main application, biomass provides the majority of renewable energy worldwide. However, traditional cookstoves, which emit vast amounts of emissions from incomplete combustion, are still the most widely used stoves. Furthermore, recently developed types of cookstoves may not be more efficient than traditional types of stoves, highlighting the necessity for more in-depth research into such combustion systems. The first part of this thesis intends to create a fuel processor model capable of generating 1kW power as output through the use of a solid oxide fuel cell system. The fuel processor system consists of a reformer, heat exchanger network, desulphurizer and an afterburner. Modelled in VMGSimTM, inlet diesel gas is provided at the mass flow rate of 0.2596kg/hour, with the oxygen to carbon ratio calculated at 0.31 and the steam to carbon ratio arbitrarily set to be 2.25. The diesel fuel is preheated and mixed with air and steam and then fed to the auto-thermal reformer. The higher hydrocarbons ar

The Texas state gas tax has been 20.0 cents per gallon since 1991, and the federal gas tax has been 18.4 cents per gallon since 1993. The gas tax is not only stagnant, but depreciating in value due to inflation. Thus, damage is being done to the infrastructure but the money needed to maintain and improve roadways is not being adequately generated. One proposed alternative to the gas tax is the creation of a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) fee; with equity being a crucial issue to consider.
