This Quality manual is the most significant document, which is necessary for the process of accreditation.

This diploma thesis demonstrates the differences between approaches in software development. A code generation search is performed. The work describes possible tools and methods of code validation and verification. The next part provides information on the use of a design-based model in critical-demanding applications. Further, the work describes the proposal of platforms for controling the BLDC motor. Low leve software is programed for these chosen platforms. The logic of controling and user interface is created. The logic of controling is created and tested in Simulink. Further more whole programmed code is connected with the low level layer. The whole solution of my diploma thesis is tested.

Chemically ordered FePt is one of the most promising materials to reach the ultimate limitations in storage density of future magnetic recording devices due to its high uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy and a corrosion resistance superior to rare-earth based magnets.
In this study, FePt and FePt/Cu bilayers have been sputter deposited at room temperature onto thermally oxidized silicon wafers, glass substrates and self-assembled arrays of spherical SiO2 particles with diameters down to 10 nm. Millisecond flash lamp annealing, as well as conventional rapid thermal annealing was employed to induce the phase transformation from the chemically disordered A1 phase into the chemically ordered L10 phase.
The influence of the annealing temperature, annealing time and the film thickness on the ordering transformation and (001) texture evolution of FePt films with near equiatomic composition was studied. Whereas flash lamp annealed FePt films exhibit a polycrystalline morphology with high chemical L10 order, rapid thermal annealing can lead to the formation of chemically ordered FePt fifilms with (001) texture on amorphous SiO2/Si substrates. The resultant high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and large coercivities up to 40 kOe are demonstrated. Simultaneuosly to the ordering transformation, rapid thermal annealing to temperatures exceeding 600 °C leads to a break up of the continuous FePt film into separated islands. This dewetting behavior was utilized to create regular arrays of FePt nanostructures on SiO2 particle templates with periods down to 50 nm.
The addition of Cu improves the (001) texture formation and chemcial ordering for annealing temperatures T < 600 °C. In addition, the magnetic anisotropy and the coercivity of the ternary FePtCu alloy can be effectively tailored by adjusting the Cu content. The prospects of FePtCu based exchange spring media, as well as the magnetic properties of FePtCu nanostructures fabricated using e-beam and nanoimprint lithography have been investigated.

Studiens syfte var att skriva tre låtar inom EDM-genren med fokus på arrangering och mixning av baselement inom spannet 30–260 Hz. Metod: Med hjälp av olika analystekniker begrundades tre stycken referenslåtar i genrerna Drum and Bass, Glitch Hop och Progressiv house. Utifrån analyserna av dessa utformades tre stycken arrangeringsmodeller, vilka utgjorde grunden för mina tre produktioner. En jämförelse mellan referenslåtarna och produktionerna gjordes för att belysa skillnader och likheter. För att uppnå mina ideal av ett väl mixat basregister framkom det att det är av extra stor vikt att ta hänsyn till arrangering av baselement gentemot mixning av dessa. I mixstadiet visade det sig att verktyg såsom equalizer, kompressorer, expanders, distar och gaters m.m. hade stor betydelse för basregistrets kvalitet. Diskussion/slutsats: Då låtarna är i olika genrer och tempon kan riktlinjer underlätta mixstadiet såsom att snabba tempon inte är att föredra i kombination med en bastrumma med mycket subbas. Likaså att låtar med lägre tempo kan gynnas av att använda sidechain-kompression som ett rytmiskt verktyg. Att använda dynamiska verktyg såsom expanders kan skapa luft i mixen och motverka att den blir platt. Dist kan vara en bra metod för att ge basfrekvenser attityd och framhäva dem i mixen.

<p>Polisyrket är ett högriskyrke vad gäller våld och hot. Bakgrunden till detta arbete är vårt eget intresse i ämnet individuellt krisstöd och att ge läsaren en inblick i vilka metoder som används vid krishantering. Vi vill också påvisa de följdverkningar som kan uppkomma om en polis inte får adekvat hjälp efter en traumatisk händelse. Bearbetas dessa upplevelser på ett rationellt sätt så kan resultatet bli en polis som utför sitt arbete på ett förtjänstfullt sätt, vilket gagnar alla i samhället. Vårt arbete bygger till stor del på de handlingsplaner vi studerat från Jämtlands respektive Västerbottens läns polismyndighet. Utöver dessa handlingsplaner har vi genom litteraturstudier inhämtat kunskap som är relevant för ämnet, vi har även samtalat med debriefinghandledare för att få en syn på hur debriefing går till. Resultatet av arbetet är att båda myndigheterna har dokumenterade handlingsplaner för debriefing, där det beskrivs när det är befogat och på vilket sätt som debriefingen skall genomföras. Ingen av myndigheterna har däremot någon förutbestämd plan för hur den enskilde polisen skall beredas någon ytterligare hjälp. Vad som framkommit i arbetet är att individuell debriefing vid skrivandet av detta arbete inte är högt prioriterat på myndigheterna. Det kan kanske förklaras genom att debriefing i grupp har den effekt som önskas, eller så kan det vara så att det inte är ekonomiskt försvarbart.</p>

A third of over 65s have at least one fall per year whilst a quarter of over 45s endure foot pain. Footwear is associated with both fall risk and foot pain hence its investigation is of great importance. This thesis explores the potential benefits of minimalist footwear for the older adult population. Chapter 2 ascertained the kinematic and kinetic differences between walking barefoot versus in footwear whilst highlighting the limited research on minimalist footwear, older adults and muscle activity differences. Accordingly, Chapter 3 outlined that minimalist footwear is kinematically more similar to barefoot, irrespective of age, thus offering a viable alternative. Similarly, Chapter 4 showed walking in minimalist footwear and walking unshod exhibit similar lower leg muscle activation patterns whilst differences exist to conventional footwear. Chapter 6 demonstrated how increasing intrinsic foot strength improved functional and static balance whilst Chapter 7 showed promise for minimalist footwear improving foot strength, functional balance, balance confidence as well as reducing foot and joint pain in a sample of older adults. In conclusion, this thesis highlights the need for future work to continue to investigate minimalist footwear in both older adults and other age groups for benefits to stability, foot health and joint pain.

The unmitigated transmission of undesirable vibration can result in problems by way of causing human discomfort, machinery and equipment failure, and affecting the quality of a manufacturing process. When identifiable transmission paths are discernible, vibrations from the source can be isolated from the rest of the system and this prevents or minimises the problems. The approach proposed here for vibration isolation is active force cancellation at points close to the vibration source. It uses force feedback for multiple-input and multiple-output control at the mounting locations. This is particularly attractive for rigid mounting of machine on relative flexible base where machine alignment and motions are to be restricted. The force transfer function matrix is used as a disturbance rejection performance specification for the design of MIMO controllers. For machine soft-mounted via flexible isolators, a model for this matrix has been derived. Under certain conditions, a simple multiplicative uncertainty model is obtained that shows the amount of perturbation a flexible base has on the machine-isolator-rigid base transmissibility matrix. Such a model is very suitable for use with robust control design paradigm. A different model is derived for the machine on hard-mounts without the flexible isolators. With this model, the level of force transmitted from a machine to a final mounting structure using the measurements for the machine running on another mounting structure can be determined. The two mounting structures have dissimilar dynamic characteristics. Experiments have verified the usefulness of the expression. The model compares well with other methods in the literature. The disadvantage lies with the large amount of data that has to be collected. Active force cancellation is demonstrated on an experimental rig using an AC industrial motor hard-mounted onto a relative flexible structure. The force transfer function matrix, determined from measurements, is used to design H and Static Output Feedback controllers. Both types of controllers are stable and robust to modelling errors within the identified frequency range. They reduce the RMS of transmitted force by between 30?80% at all mounting locations for machine running at 1340 rpm. At the rated speed of 1440 rpm only the static gain controller is able to provide 30?55% reduction at all locations. The H controllers on the other hand could only give a small reduction at one mount location. This is due in part to the deficient of the model used in the design. Higher frequency dynamics has been ignored in the model. This can be resolved by the use of a higher order model that can result in a high order controller. A low order static gain controller, with some tuning, performs better. But it lacks the analytical framework for analysis and design.

Am Anfang standen hitzige Diskussionen. Die einen wollten ein Fest, um ihr Image zu verbessern. Musik, Bühnendarbietung, Kaffee und Kuchen, Bier und Bratwurst – was man eben so mit Archiven und Bibliotheken verbindet! Die anderen wollten sehr viel ernster die einzelnen Einrichtungen vorstellen und aktiv Werbung für ihre jeweiligen Häuser betreiben. Herausgekommen ist eine Mischung aus beidem. Im August 2011 fand bereits zum dritten Mal das „Straßenfest der Leipziger Bibliotheken und Archive“ (http://www.bibliothekenfest-leipzig.de) statt. Auf einer von Platanen gesäumten Straße im Leipziger Musikviertel, direkt vor der Bibliotheca Albertina, dem Hauptgebäude der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig, gab es eine Bühne für Musikkapellen (die Leipziger bevorzugen Swing), Stände für Essen und Trinken, Bänke, und circa 30 Tische, auf denen die einzelnen Einrichtungen ihre Informationsmaterialien und viele Mitmachangebote präsentierten. Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter beantworteten sachkundig die zahlreichen Fragen der neugierigen Besucher.

This thesis focuses on the humanitarian implications of economic sanctions. States are increasingly using sanctions as a foreign policy tool, but the ramifications for the citizens of the country have yet to be analyzed in depth. Although sanctions are an extremely powerful foreign policy tool, the humanitarian implications are too drastic. There are two main outcomes of sanctions that states seek: the pressure of the sanctions forces the government to change their policy or the humanitarian implications force the citizens to revolt against the government. These outcomes rarely occur as we can see clearly in cases such as Cuba or North Korea. This thesis will use three case studies: Cuba, Iraq, and Iran. The three cases differ in the type of sanctions which in return varies the degree of humanitarian implications. The types of sanctions are unilateral, multilateral, and universal. The four sectors of humanitarian implications are economic growth, health and drugs, food and nutrition, and education. Cuba has sustained unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the United States for years and the sanctions have not made a change in the attitudes of the government. Instead the sanctions have created humanitarian implications in Cuba. Because the government refuses to allow any dissent from citizens, the sanctions will neither change the policy of the government nor pressure citizens to revolt against the government. Therefore the sanctions in Cuba have been quite ineffective and have solely had the effect of hurting the ordinary citizens of Cuba. The second case study is of Iraq. Iraq is the most publicized case of humanitarian implications of universal sanctions. The infamous interview with Madeleine Albright stating that the half a million children that died in Iraq because of the sanctions and war were 'worth it.' Although this statement was later clarified, it shed light on the dramatic implications of the sanctions. The sanctions hurt almost every sector of Iraq and left the state in shambles.
The last case study is on Iran. The US has imposed sanctions on Iran for years, but the UN community got involved after the Iranian nuclear program. These sanctions are for the most part multilateral. The sanctions against Iran have also had significant humanitarian implications, specifically economic growth and the health and drugs sector. It is unknown if the new government of Iran will prompt a change in the sanctions imposed by the international community. All three case studies will present a strong correlation between the economic sanctions imposed and the humanitarian implications. The three states that are used as case studies were showing progress in at least one of the humanitarian sectors prior to the imposition of sanctions. Image segmentation, the problem of dividing an image into meaningful parts and semantic segmentation, dividing images into multiple known classes are very interesting problems in computer vision. Segmentation is relevant for everything from self-driving cars to 3D-modeling and synthetic camera effects. The current state of the art inthese problems is achieved with computationally intensive deep convolutional neural networks. Even though there currently exist modelsfor producing high-quality segmentations, most of these are too resource intensive to run in real-time on mobile devices, something that is more and more requested for user experience in computer vision apps and safety in self-driving cars. To build models capable of real-time segmentation on smartphones this thesis builds upon previous work on constructing streamlined neural networks and compression of these using effective approximations of the convolutional operator and student-teacher training techniques. Specifically, this is done for segmentation of feet from the background which is a part of a larger project for 3D-scanning of feet on smartphones conducted at Volumental. The fastest neural network produced in this work manages to runat over 10f ps on an Android smartphone from 2016 without the use of hardware acceleration. Despite this speed, the network manages to achieve a mean intersect over union (mIoU ) score of over 93% on a held out test set.<br>Bildsegmentering, problemet att dela in en bild i meningsfulla bitaroch semantisk segmentering, problemet att dela upp en bild i flera kända klasser är mycket intressanta inom datorseende. Segmentering är relevant för allt från självkörande bilar till 3D-modellering och syntetiska kamera effekter. Även om det finns modeller som producerar goda segmenteringar är många av dessa allt för resurs krävande för att kunna köras i realtid på mobilhårdvara, något som blir allt mer efterfrågat för användarupplevelsen i datorseende appar och säkerheten i självkörande bilar. För att bygga modeller kapabla att göra realtidssegmentering påsmartphones bygger detta projekt vidare på tidigare arbete på att bygga strömlinjeformade neuronnät och att komprimera dessa med hjälp av effektiva approximationer av faltningsoperatorn och student-lärar träning. Specifikt görs detta för segmentering av fötter från bakgrund vilket är en del av ett störe projekt för mobil 3D-scanning på företaget Volumental. Det snabbaste neuronnätet som byggts i arbetet klarar av att köra i10 fps på en Android telefon från 2016, utan att använda hårdvaru-acceleration. Trotts denna hastighet lyckas nätverket uppnå ettmean intersect over uninon (mIoU) på över 93% på testdata.

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are intensively researched due to their high potential in biomedicine, catalysis and high density information storage. FePt NPs are a potential alternative magnetic material to commonly used magnetite NPs for biomedical applications and the synthesis of FePt NPs is an active area of research. The purpose of this thesis has been to develop wet chemical synthetic methods to tune and improve the properties of FePt magnetic nanoparticles. The morphology of magnetic nanoparticles affects the way they interact with each other, and with their surroundings. Changes in shape and composition with varying synthetic conditions can also give clues to the mechanism of formation. Changes in volume, solvent and the nature of the stabiliser have been shown to yield varying morphology in the FePt system. Multicore FePt nanoparticles up to 44 nm in diameter and composed of Pt rich FePt nanocrystals within an iron rich FePt matrix not previously seen in the literature are presented here. Magnetic properties of multicore nanoparticles are size dependent; in dioctyl ether and dibenzyl ether and with decreasing amount of oleic acid, saturation magnetisation and blocking temperature increase with size. The results indicate that coordination of Fe and Pt intermediates with oleic acid and oleylamine respectively hinders deposition of each respective metal in the growth of discrete and multicore nanoparticles. L-glutathione and albumin immediately transferred 20 nm multicore nanoparticles into water and show that large FePt nanoparticles may be stable under physiological conditions following stability tests. The use of an autoclave is shown to increase the Fe content, crystallinity and subsequent magnetic properties of FePt pseudo cube nanoparticles compared to those synthesised under atmospheric pressure. Decreasing amount of oleic acid is also shown to increase the iron content and can lead to elongated FePt nanoparticles under normal pressure. Infra-red studies indicate mono and bi dentate coordination with oleic acid, however shifts of spectra show that the strength of the bi-dentate interactions weaken with increasing oleic acid amount.

Neuf ans sont passés depuis la découverte du graphène, tous très dense de travaux de recherche et publications que, petit à petit, ont mieux illuminé les propriétés de ce matériau extraordinaire. Avec une meilleure compréhension de ses meilleures qualités, une idée plus précise des applications que mieux pourront profiter de son use a été défini. Dispositifs à haute fréquence, comme mélangeurs et amplificateurs de puissance, et l'électronique Flexible et Transparent sont les domaines les plus prometteurs. Dans ces domaines une grande attention est dévouée à deux sujets : la réduction des dimensions des transistors à base de graphène, pour réduire le temps de propagation des porteurs de charge et atteindre des pourcentages de transport balistique toujours plus élevés ; et l'optimisation des parasites de contact. Tout les deux sont très bénéfiques pou la maximisation des figures de mérite du dispositif. En cette thèse, deux modèles ont été développés pour aborder ces sujets : le premier est dédié aux transistors quasi-balistiques de graphène de grande surface comme aussi aux transistors graphène nano-ruban. Ceci démontre la corrélation entre le transport balistique et diffusive et la longueur du dispositif, et extrait les courants DC grand signal et les transconductances. With more understanding of its best qualities, a more precise prospect of the applications that would better profit from its use has been defined. High Frequency devices, like mixers and power amplifiers, and Flexible and Transparent electronics are the most promising fields. In those fields great attention is devoted to two subjects: the downscaling of the dimensions of the graphene transistor, in order to reduce the carriers travel time and attain increasingly larger fractions of ballistic electronic transport; and the optimization of the contact parasitics. Both are highly beneficial to the maximization of the device's RF Figures Of Merit. In this thesis, Two models have been developed to address such topics: the first served both the quasi-ballistic large-area graphene and graphene nanoribbon transistors. It demonstrated the correlation between ballistic and diffusive electron transport and de-vice length, and extracted the large signal DC currents and transconductances. The second reproduced the high-frequency conduction through graphene and its contact parasitics. The latter also motivated the development and fabrication of a RF test bed on a dedicated plastic technology, enabling the RF characterization of the contact impedance and of the specific interfacial impedance of monolayer CVD graphene

Frågeställningarna var följande;</p><p>Påverkar intaget av mättat fett risken att drabbas av hjärt- och kärlsjukdom?</p><p>Påverkar intaget av mättat fett risken att dö i hjärt- och kärlsjukdom?</p><p>Kan intag av fleromättat fett eller en kost med hög FM/M kvot fungera som prevention mot hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar?</p><p><strong><em>Metod</em></strong><strong><em></em></strong></p><p>Litteratur utgivna fr.o.m. 1 januari 1999 t.o.m. 11 februari 2010 har sökts i databaserna MEDLINE, Global Health och Swemed+. Sökord som har används är "saturated fat”, ”saturated fatty", mortality, CHD, och mättat fett. Sökningarna gjordes vid enstaka tillfällen fr.o.m. 2010-01-26 t.o.m. 2010-02-11. Inklusionskriterier för artiklar var att testgruppen utgjordes av människor samt att undersökning av intaget av fettsyror och risken att drabbas av eller dö i hjärt- och kärlsjukdom har gjorts på individnivå samt var skriva på svenska eller engelska. Sammanlagt hittades 14 studier, varav fem stycken svarat på flera frågeställningar.</p><p><strong><em>Resultat</em></strong><strong><em></em></strong></p><p>Sex av åtta studier visar att konsumtionen mättat fett inte utgör en signifikant riskfaktor för att drabbas av hjärt- och kärlsjukdom. De resterande två visar att mättat fett utgör en riskfaktor för att drabbas av hjärt- och kärlsjukdom. En av fem studier visar på att mättat fett inte utgör en signifikant riskfaktor för att dö i hjärt- och kärlsjukdom. De resterande fyra visar att mättat fett utgör en riskfaktor för att dö i hjärt- och kärlsjukdom. Fyra av sju studier visar att fleromättat fett eller en hög FM/M kvot är en skyddsfaktor mot hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar. Ett elevperspektiv.</p><p>Författare: Katsaras, M och Larsson, T (2007)</p><p>Examensarbete på lärarprogrammet pedagogik B, 10p</p><p>Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka och beskriva hur två grupper med gymnasielever uppfattar att film används och har använts i undervisning under sin skoltid. För att få svaren på frågorna skapades två stycken fokusgrupper där varje grupp bestod av fyra till fem elever i årskurs två och tre på gymnasiet. Fokusgrupper kan liknas vid ett gruppsamtal. En grupp kom från ett medieprogram och den andra från ett samhällsvetenskapligt program. Fokusgrupperna har gett svar på hur eleverna uppfattar att lärare använder sig av film i skolan. Vad som har varit bra respektive dåligt genom elevernas skolgång och hur litteraturen i bakgrundsforskning stämmer överens med elevernas åsikter.</p><p>Skillnaden mellan grupperna var stor och en av grupperna hade förhållandevis enkel syn på vad som var bra film och inte, medan den andra gruppen problematiserade kraftigt och hade flera punkter på vad som behövs för att använda film i undervisning. Första gruppen kände att filmer ofta användes på fel sätt med för litet diskussioner efteråt och den andra gruppen pekade på att underhållningsvärdet i filmen var den viktigaste delen.</p><p>Konklusionen är att film i undervisningen är bra och att det är ett varierande sätt att ha en lektion på, men att uppföljning på filmen är uppskattat. Även att filmens underhållningsvärde bör vara högt.</p><p>elevperspektiv, fokusgrupper, film i undervisning, det utvidgade textbegreppet.</p>

<p>Denna rapport presenterar det examensarbete på 10 poäng jag gjorde på möbeldesignprogrammet vid Carl Malmsten CTD våren 2006. Syftet med denna rapport är att beskriva och klargöra processen av detta examensarbete samt formgivningen av produkterna som styrts av mitt koncept. Rapporten grundar sig på dokumentation från processens gång och jag har valt att redovisa mitt arbete i denna rapport i fyra kapitel. Den första inledande delen beskriver bakgrunden till projektet, den andra redovisar insamlingsetappen i form av bild, skissmaterial och konceptbeskrivning, den tredje handlar om skissetappen och själva designprocessen och den sista visar dokumentationen av gestaltningsarbetet av prototyperna. Avslutningsvis kommer en resultatanalys och kommentarer till arbetet och produkterna. Bakgrunden till valet av mitt examensarbete var att jag var nyfiken på hur möbler för utemiljö kan se ut och vilka funktioner de eventuellt kan ha.Jag ville tillföra något som utstrålade något nytt, men som inte förlorat sina kvalitativa egenskaper i fråga om hållbarhet och problemfritt underhåll. Med dessa ideér kontaktade jag Berga Form AB eftersom min uppfattning var att de, liksom jag, värderar kvalité och omsorg för detaljer högt, dessutom har de sin huvudsakliga produktion på Java, Indonesien. Och det var just i denna miljö jag vistades i när jag kontaktade Berga Form första gången. Jag gjorde tre månaders praktik i Singapore/Java höstterminen 2005 när jag fick idén för mitt examensarbete. Resultatet är ett bord och en sittbänk för utemiljö i gjuten aluminium och massiv ask. Produkternas funktion underlättar transport, lagerhållning och vinterförvaring hos kund. Estetiken är exlusiv och stilfull för att passa i Berga Forms nuvarande sortiment. These types of furniture will not go out of date, as long as the weather permits, as we will always spend time outdoors and will always have a need for products in this environment. I was looking to provide something new in this area, without losing the inherent properties to outdoor furniture.</p><p>I presented these ideas for Berga Form AB, because my understanding was that they, just like me, value quality and care for details. Furthermore, they produce the majority of their</p><p>products in Java, Indonesia. I was in this area when I contacted Berga Form the first time. I did a 3 months internship in Singapore/Java the autum semester of 2006, when I thought up the idea for my graduation project.</p><p>The result if this project is a table and a bench for outdoor environments. The material is cast aluminum and solid Ash tree. This product has a function that will ease transport for Berga Form and winter storage for the customer. The furniture posesses an aesthetic that is exclusive and stylish to match Berga Form´s present collection.</p><p>The design concept for this graduation project is;</p><p>“black & white, dazzling patterning, inspired by Jugend and Vector aesthetically and solid wood reserved shapes”.</p>

<p>Mitt intresse för denna uppsats bottnar i att jag arbetar som Student Brand Manager på Red Bull. Det innebär att jag arbetar med företagets försäljning och marknadsföring i den studentrelaterade verksamheten. Syftet för denna studie är att se på hur Red Bull kan åstadkomma en mer studierelaterad koppling till sin energidryck. Med andra ord se på hur det skulle kunna vara möjligt att få studenter att konsumera mer av drycken när de studerar. Detta är av intresse då Red Bull själva anser att dryckens egenskaper är passande till just detta tillfälle. För att kunna svara på uppsatsens syfte har jag genomfört en kvantitativ enkätundersökning bland 240 studenter vid Uppsala Universitet. Svaren har jag sedan transkriberat och grundat min empiri på. Tillsammans med det teoretiska kapitlet ligger undersökningen sedan som grund för analysen. I teorin tar jag min utgångspunkt utifrån Consumer behaviour och då närmare bestämt ur området gällande attityder. Jag delar upp attityder i mindre komponenter som den affektiva, den kognitiva och den beteendemässiga komponenten. Detta för att skapa mig en djupare insikt i olika attityder. Jag tittar därefter närmare på olika möjligheter till att påverka attityder via kommunikation. Jag avslutar det teoretiska resonemanget med att se på kommunikationen i sig genom de olika delar som detta bygger på, så som sändare, budskap och mottagare med mera. Dessa kopplar jag sedan ihop och skapar mig en översikt över olika möjliga kommunikationsmodeller, strategier. Studiens empiri och teori mynnar sedan ut i studiens analys och slutsats. Studenternas starka koppling av Red Bull som en festdryck är något som det förs många resonemang kring i analysen och sammanfattningsvis resulterar uppsatsens slutsats i att studenter, överlägset i första hand, konsumerar Red Bull under fest. Dessvärre konsumerar bara en bråkdel av alla de tillfrågade Red Bull när de studerar. För att sprida användningsområdet för drycken så visar jag på olika tillvägagångssätt, spokespersoner och PR aktiviteter, för hur det ska vara möjligt för varumärket att skapa en starkare studierelaterad koppling mellan Red Bull och studenter.</p>

This thesis paper explores barefoot and minimalist running in Ottawa, Ontario and Boulder, Colorado. The objective has been to answer the following questions: how can we understand barefoot and minimalist style running as cultures, how are barefoot and minimalist style running being done in different ways, how do the senses play out and create nuances between barefoot and minimalist style runners. I argue barefoot and minimalist running are distinct cultural forms. I applied an Ingoldian notion of culture that contends cultures are generative, relational, temporal and improvisational. I conducted a multi-site study and I interviewed participants, as well as conducted participant observation. My findings reveal that the different sensations experienced by the two styles of running make them meaningful in different ways. These different sensations and ways of meaning create nuances between barefoot and minimalist running and differentiate them and as a result, there are found to become different cultural forms.

Ce travail de thèse s’intéresse à l’élaboration et la caractérisation d’alliages nanostructurés équiatomiques FePt et FeAu, dans le cadre de la recherche de nouveaux alliages fonctionnels pour l’enregistrement magnétique. L’alliage FePt a tout d’abord été étudié sous forme de couches minces d’épaisseur 100 nm. L’influence d’un recuit thermique et l’effet d’une irradiation aux ions lourds Pb (900 MeV) sur le degré d’ordre cristallographique et, par conséquent, sur les propriétés magnétiques de l’alliage, ont été étudiées. Des nanoparticules FePt d’environ 5 nm de diamètre ont été obtenues sous forme ordonnée et analysées par sonde atomique tomographique. Nous nous sommes également intéressés à l’étude structurale et magnétique de nanoparticules FeAu de taille inférieure à 10 nm, enrobées ou non dans une matrice métallique. La diversité structurale des nanoparticules a été mise en évidence par microscopie électronique à transmission. Cette diversité s’accompagne d’une diversité de comportements magnétiques, révélée en présence d’une matrice métallique. L’influence sur les propriétés magnétiques des nanoparticules d’une évolution structurale, obtenue après recuit thermique ou irradiation aux ions lourds Pb, a également été étudiée. Ces travaux ont mis en évidence l’importance du degré d’ordre structural des phases FePt et FeAu sur leurs propriétés magnétiques. Nous avons également montré l’influence de la matrice enrobant les nanoparticules sur leurs propriétés structurales et magnétiques. Nous avons ainsi pu montrer l’existence d’un couplage d’échange anisotrope entre nanoparticules dispersées dans une matrice métallique. L’existence de ce couplage a été corrélée avec la présence de différents comportements magnétiques liés à une dispersion de cristallinité<br>This thesis focuses on synthesis and characterization of FePt and FeAu nanostructured equiatomic alloys, in the search for new functional alloys for magnetic recording. First, the FePt alloy has been investigated as thin layers (thickness 100 nm). The effects of thermal annealing and Pb heavy ion irradiation (900 MeV) on the degree of crystallographic order and, therefore, on the magnetic properties were studied. Second, ordered FePt nanoparticles of about 5 nm in diameter were obtained and analysed by atom probe tomography. We also investigated both structural and magnetic nanoparticles of FeAu nanoparticles, less than 10 nm in size, coated or not in a metal matrix. The structural diversity of the nanoparticles was demonstrated by transmission electron microscopy. This diversity is accompanied by a variety of magnetic behaviours, revealed by the presence of the metal matrix. The influence of a structural change, obtained after thermal annealing or Pb heavy ion irradiation was also studied. This work highlighted the importance of the degree of structural order of FePt and FeAu phases on their magnetic properties. We also showed the influence of the matrix coating the nanoparticles on their structural and magnetic properties. We showed the existence of an anisotropic exchange coupling between nanoparticles dispersed in a metal matrix. The existence of this coupling has been correlated with the presence of different magnetic behaviours in relation with the dispersion of crystallinity

Field effect transistors (FETs) are a key component of modern electronic devices. They require a semiconducting material that is traditionally made from doped silicon. Recently however it has been shown that porphyrin systems can be used in the same capacity. This thesis therefore describes the investigation of new methods of porphyrin functionalization to synthesise 1,4,5,8-tetraazaanthracene-bridged porphyrin arrays, and their application to the synthesis of extended arrays for use in FETs. The 1,4,5,8- tetraazaanthracene bridge is synthesised through the condensation of a porphyrin alpha-dione with 1,2,4,5-tetraaminobenzene. Accordingly, the synthesis of an extended array requires a porphyrin tetra-one monomer unit. Two methods for the synthesis of porphyrin tetra-ones have been investigated. The first approach attempts to adapt Knudsen's hydroxylation of an aryl halide by sodium benzaldoximate to a porphyrin system. Initial regiospecific halogenation of a porphyrin has been successfully achieved. However when hydroxylation was attempted, partial dehalogenation of the substrate was observed; and when applied to the synthesis of the porphyrin tetra-one the methodology failed. The second approach involves the allylic oxidation of a chlorin (a reduced porphyrin) on silica. The transformation's mechanism has been thoroughly investigated and it has been successfully applied to the synthesis of a porphyrin tetra-one. This methodology has then been applied to the synthesis of extended porphyrin arrays. A sample incorporating 12 porphyrin units has been successfully constructed. It has been characterised by NMR, MALDI, GPC and UV-VIS spectroscopy. By comparison with previous results it has been concluded that the aromatic system- which spans 181 Ǻngstroms from end to end- can be described as a series of weakly interacting chromophores, in agreement with theoretical predictions made by Hush. In addition a medium-scale synthesis of an array incorporating four porphyrins has been achieved so that it may now be tested as the semiconducting material in a FET.

This collection explores, in the words of Australian writer Beverley Farmer, "the experience of being foreign". And whilst the majority of stories are rooted in some kind of travel experience, each sees its characters negotiating times of isolation or dislocation in their lives for which 'the voyage'--physical, emotional or psychological--is often a catalyst for entering into yet another 'new' space. In the title story, "New feet", Mrs Butler seeks a self-imposed isolation from her native cultural milieu, literally erasing her own footprints in her attempt to construct a new life for herself; whilst in "Kill the old red rooster when she comes," two `intrepid women travellers' in India complacently repeat the mistakes of their forebears until a natural event disorients them completely. For others, displacement, at least initially, occurs closer to home. The first-person narrator of "Dectomy" negotiates her way through a brief, disastrous, international marriage; and the children, Christopher ("Bubble-and-Squeak"), Mazie ("What any dog wants to hear") and Eddie ("What the sea wants") experience moments of foreignness that are disturbingly alienating. As an overall concept, New Feet attempts to investigate characters who step into being strange and who rarely, within the scope of each story, 'return'. In this sense, being foreign is not foreign in itself, but something which, like the skin of one's feet, the characters across the collection must continually grow into and out of.

Light, mysterious and attractive, has the power to make characteristics and delicate feelings of wool stand out. This study aims to research on how light could penetrate through felt in different thicknesses and textures by conducting various analyses and experiments just to find that the felting technique “Nuno felt” which is to bond loose fiber (wool) into a sheer fabric could construct a fantasy world and atmosphere with light, transforming the traditional functionality of wool and metamorphosing the material into a type of modern fiber art. In this study, light and felt craft was combined to create the “Felt Garden in the Center of the Earth” felt artwork series, in which light is instrumental in facilitating wool painting and soft sculpture to build a “felt garden” at night. Various elements, such as felt and light installation, wool painting and soft sculpture are capable of guiding the viewers into an esthetic fantasy realm where emotional reactions and illusions will be experienced. Three main pieces in the study demonstrate different kinds of visual effects of felt and light art: “The Field of Felt Light”, “The Scenery of Felt Light”, and “The Forest in the Center of the Earth at Night”. “The Field of Felt Light” is an installation work made of several luminescent cylinders covered with all kinds of wool paintings to create different scenarios featuring human and objects, while “The Scenery of Felt Light” made by Nuno felting technique is to incorporate a variety of fiber materials and illuminating abstract felt artworks to present the imagination about a garden in the center of the earth. “The Forest in the Center of the Earth at Night” is a fantasy story on the forest of pupa and the light of the forest. Various forms, ways of expressions and presentations of felt and light art have been examined in this study, and carried out in the “Felt Light” exhibition.

Chemically ordered FePt is one of the most promising materials to reach the ultimate limitations in storage density of future magnetic recording devices due to its high uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy and a corrosion resistance superior to rare-earth based magnets.
In this study, FePt and FePt/Cu bilayers have been sputter deposited at room temperature onto thermally oxidized silicon wafers, glass substrates and self-assembled arrays of spherical SiO2 particles with diameters down to 10 nm. Millisecond flash lamp annealing, as well as conventional rapid thermal annealing was employed to induce the phase transformation from the chemically disordered A1 phase into the chemically ordered L10 phase.
The influence of the annealing temperature, annealing time and the film thickness on the ordering transformation and (001) texture evolution of FePt films with near equiatomic composition was studied. Whereas flash lamp annealed FePt films exhibit a polycrystalline morphology with high chemical L10 order, rapid thermal annealing can lead to the formation of chemically ordered FePt fifilms with (001) texture on amorphous SiO2/Si substrates. The resultant high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and large coercivities up to 40 kOe are demonstrated. Simultaneuosly to the ordering transformation, rapid thermal annealing to temperatures exceeding 600 °C leads to a break up of the continuous FePt film into separated islands. This dewetting behavior was utilized to create regular arrays of FePt nanostructures on SiO2 particle templates with periods down to 50 nm.
The addition of Cu improves the (001) texture formation and chemcial ordering for annealing temperatures T < 600 °C. In addition, the magnetic anisotropy and the coercivity of the ternary FePtCu alloy can be effectively tailored by adjusting the Cu content. The prospects of FePtCu based exchange spring media, as well as the magnetic properties of FePtCu nanostructures fabricated using e-beam and nanoimprint lithography have been investigated.
