Abstract:
In the early 1980s, feminist councillors and the women's movement pushed for the establishment of structured provision in UK local government to address the issue of women's equality. Women's initiatives were set up by a small number of Labour controlled councils. At the height of their activities in 1987 there were 45 Women's Committees, by 1995 only 9 remained (Halford 1988). A central question of this thesis was to examine why the delivery of equal opportunities for women was changing and what form the new initiatives were taking. This thesis presents a critical exploration of the reported lives and experiences of managers charged with responsibilities as leaders in a UK local government organization. It seeks to propose new ways of theorising leadership by drawing on discursive and psychoanalytic perspectives that develop a more critical, inter-related psychosocial analysis of managers' biographical narratives,in particular, it examines the importance of exploring leadership dynamics through a poststructuralist feminist analysis of discourse(s), identity/ies and gender.

Grujicic, Elena. "Les droits des femmes dans les systèmes juridiques régionaux et universel." Thesis, Lyon, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019LYSE3013.

Abstract:

Jung, Kristina E. "Rosa Luxemburg: First Socialist Feminist." Thesis, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10756/288476.

Full text
Abstract:
Traditionally, Rosa Luxemburg has not been understood as a feminist. In the beginnings of her socio-political career she did not align herself with feminism. However, as time progressed, Luxemburg became increasingly weary of male-chauvinistic ideals including Revisionism, opportunism, centralization, militarism, and war. Luxemburg's socio-political theories and her relationships with the women's movement led her to label herself as feminist. This thesis outlines and examines the claim that Luxemburg can be described and labeled a feminist.

Abstract:
The main purpose of this study is to discuss Yvonne Vera‟s representation of various aspects of women‟s identity in a patriarchal and colonial context as they manifest themselves through the women‟s relationships. I explore ways in which the question of self for some of Vera‟s women seems characterised by marginalisation across racial, cultural, ethnic and generational divides. The short stories and novel studied seem to emphasise that for women, under patriarchy and colonialism in Zimbabwe, seeking an independent and fulfilling identity seems to be interpreted as defying society‟s expectation

Abstract:
This thesis is a critical review of educated women’s leadership in their emancipation in Ethiopia. Did they provide leadership and to what extent? It is to be noted that educated women’s leadership has been of great importance to women’s emancipation worldwide. Strong leadership was also the driving force behind women’s movements and feminism everywhere. However, the role of educated women in Ethiopia is hard to discern and their leadership efforts are largely invisible. On the other hand, many among the educated also lack the passion and desire to commit themselves in the fight for wome

Abstract:
This dissertation examines the influence of Québec feminist demographic discourse on Québec Government policy documents, specifically a sample produced between 1970 and 1997. It begins with the premise that Québec demographic discourse and Government family policy measures have their basis in epistemologies and methodologies which fail to identify women's experiences as problematic and are incompatible with feminist principles of gender equality and autonomy. In addition, women's reproductive behaviour and declining fertility have been linked to issues of national survival, cultural identit
