My aim with this study was to analyze the Swedish Democrats' gender equality policy from three feminist perspectives, the liberal feminism, equality feminism and gender feminism. This is within a time frame between 1989–2018. To answer my research question, I used eight principle programs that were directly linked to the party and then supplementary material such as an exercise and a debate article. I used a content analysis during the course of the study. The conclusion showed a change in the Swedish Democrats' policy when it comes to equality. The gender equality policy pursued by the party has shown links to the feminist way of thinking to a greater extent.

Denna undersökning syftar till att redogöra för om och hur Feministiskt initiativ (Fi), som feministiskt parti, har stött på motstånd under sitt första år som medstyrande parti i Stockholms stads kommunfullmäktige. Utöver detta ämnar studien att visa på hur ett relativt nytt och unikt feministiskt parti upplever sin politiska påverkan och sitt politiska inflytande efter att ha erhållit maktpositioner i samhället. Teorin bygger på de empiriska bevis som tidigare forskning har visat på angående det motstånd som kvinnoorganisationer och kvinnopartier har stött på historiskt sett.   För att kunna besvara frågeställningen har intervjuer genomförts med Fi-politiker som varit aktiva inom partiet det senaste året. Studien avslöjar att även Fi har stött på motstånd under sitt första år i kommunfullmäktige, ett motstånd som främst har visat sig genom diverse förlöjliganden av deras politik samt strategier för att osynliggöra dem som parti. Detta motstånd är dock mer nyanserat än det motstånd som visat sig gentemot organisationer och partier som drivit kvinnofrågor i historien; det är mindre tydligt och kommer inte främst ifrån manliga politiker som tidigare studier visat. För att vinna politisk respekt har Fi arbetat med strategin att sprida kunskap kring sina frågor. Detta upplever de också har gjort det lättare att påverka och skaffa sig inflytande över stockholmspolitiken.

This thesis is a study of Parties as an outflow of societal changes where the aim has been to find out how parties are affected by societal changes and how they justify to new party formation. This is done by using a theory called Parties as an outflow of societal changes which is a theory developed by Swedish researchers in Political Science. To confirm the theory it is necessary to do an argumentation analysis of one external developed party’s electoral program. In this case the party selected is Feminist Initiative which brings a different view on how the society of Sweden should look like. Selected parts of the argumentative analysis will be examined with the purpose to give a perspective on how Feminist Initiative values the changes in society and how they describe their role as a new party. The main question of this study is; Are new parties an outflow of societal changes? The basic arguments includes that along with societal changes in Western Europe also changes the view of a representative democracy in which political parties play a central role. It is clear that societies have changed in different ways with the rampage of the globalization. Media’s role in the political realm has also increased and influences more in society. In the case of Sweden political parties have raised with different ideals, goals and visions of how Swedish society should look like. The result should confirm the thesis that changes in society contributes to party formation.

Denna uppsats handlar om hur några av de redan etablerade partierna har bemött Feministiskt Initiativ och dess inträde i politiken och partiernas syn på jämställdhet och feminism.Vi har använt oss av kvalitativa metoder i form av intervjuer och datainsamling. Vi har intervjuat partier angående deras ideologi och bemötande samt vilka strategier de har antagit för att bemöta nischpartiet Feministiskt Initiativ. Vi har tittat närmare på Position, salience and ownership theory, PSO-teorin, för att se om partier har använt sig utav de strategier som nämns i teorin. Vi har även studerat hur tillkomsten av Feministiskt Initiativ har påverkat de etablerade partiernas prioriteringar och profilering i frågor om jämställdhet och feminism. Vi fokuserar också på tidigare forskning gällande feminismen.Partier ser annorlunda på feminism och på jämställdheten. Efter att ha intervjuat de utvalda partierna så syns det tydliga kopplingar till PSO-teorin. Vi har också studerat om partierna har satt feminism och jämställdhet högre upp på den politiska agendan sedan Feministiskt Initiativs intåg i politiken.
This essay is about how some of the already established parties have responded to the Feminist Initiative and it’s entry into politics and the parties' views on gender equality and feminism.We have used qualitative methods in the form of interviews and data collection. We interviewed the parties regarding their ideology and attitude as well as the strategies they have adopted to address niche party Feminist Initiative. We have looked at Position, salience and ownership, PSO-theory to see if the parties have used out the strategies significantly in theory. We also studied how the advent of the Feminist Initiative has affected the established parties' priorities and profiling the issues of gender equality and feminism. We also focus on earlier research on feminism.Parties look different on feminism and gender equality. After interviewing the desired parties it will show clear links with PSO-theory. We also studied whether the parties have put feminism and gender equality higher up on the political agenda since the Feminist Initiative's entry into politics.The original text is in Swedish.
