Full textIn medieval texts, modesty - a fundamental experience of mankind fallen from grace - becomes an essential and feminine question. Study of the Latin and then French medieval glossary of modesty and immodesty enables these concepts and their evolution to be grasped. Then, the "code of good manners and modesty" drawn up in the Middle Ages is studied. Finally, study of the literary figures highlights the essential notions of ostentation, transgression and disorder, and the link between feminine modesty and male power and order

Full textAfter a confrontation with the research and the critic, T. Huber's biography is developped in its greatest points. The work is studied under three aspects. The historical dimension comes first, with the analysis of the place and the part given to the french revolution in the novel «die familie seldorf». Then, the education is studied in the texts and the analysis of the references allows to situate the work in the pedagogical context of the 18th century. At least, all the references to nature and the landscapes in the texts are scrupulously listed and observed and it comes to conclusions and reflexions about the symbols, the evolution or persistance of several motifs or characters, the importance of nature, and the different parts accorded to it in t. Huber's literary universe. In conclusion, each part of the analysis allows to replace the work in the heritage of the rationalist tradition of the age of enlightenment

Full textThe first part, entitled "the ascension of the woman's name in their marital relations", deals firstly with the woman's name during the marriage and secondly in the case of dissolution. In order to show the origin and the extent of the use of the husband's name, it was necessary to show that the woman had limited rights. On the one hand, the husband can dorbid his wife to use her married name abusively. On the other hand, the same interdiction is possible in the case of a separation. Fianaly, in cas of dissolution, it was necessary to consider the widow's name and above all that of the divorced woman. This study concerns marital or judicial authorisation allowing the divorced woman to continue using the husband's name for either her own personal reasons or for these of their childreb. The second part, entited "the rise of the woman's name to family dimension", crated the possibility of transmitting the woman(s name to her children before proposing a general reform on the subject. Due to the law of the 23rd of december 1985, it was necessary to show that the attribution of the nother's name remains an exception. While wainting for a change of the law, we were able to suggest a system in. .

Full textFeminine identity as a structure is the basic issue analysed in this thesis. The discussion on the difference between male and female, studied in historical terms, shows that an essential break was made possible by the work of mourning in its most radical aspects, which allows to establish a link between melancholy and sublimation as a psychoanalytical concept. The absolute of the creation is opposed to the relative and therefore "normal" aspects of the circumscription of man within the global society, analysed as an ordinary "perverse" structure, predominantly in relation to the central concept of "surface". This work is therefore based on the study of the opposition between the psychotic structure and the perverse structure as its outcome (genetically, structurally, as well as in therapeutic terms). It might be also understood as the opposition between the inside, the guts, and the visual, between incorporation and the process of imaginary identification based on images (and consequently on the gaze, on appearance. . . ). Feminine identity, elaborated on mecanisms involving perversion and sublimation, which are variously linked together and which are the subject matter of phenomenology and anthropology, illustrates in a paradigmatic way the woman's elaboration of the image of her own body, which thwarts melancholy, although

In reality, educated women in Sudan face up to critics and oppositions; because she has revolted the condition of woman. With her education and her entrance in the work life she has imposed for the society another reality of the situation of woman. This reality is accepted by some category of the society, tolerated with reluctance by another, and opposed with determination by the third category

Full textThe purpose of this study is to compare the clinic aspects of hysteria of the French and Moroccan women issued from rural environment. During this study our hypothesis was to determine if the expression of hysteria is related to the cultural and social environment. . . We have been confronted to the following: does the characteristic belong to a difference in the structure of hysteria or is it due to differences in the cultural symbolisation. Concerning the methodology, we have started to work on the historical summary of the hysteria and the neurosis. Then, we followed different steps of the socialisation of the Moroccan woman and as means; we employed the t. A. T. , the Rorschach and the study of 20 cases. In order to make an analysis and a comparison between the French and the Moroccan cases, we utilised the following: the age, the marital status, the number of children, the studies level and the social and economical level. We choose the criterium of psychiatric treatment, the purpose of hospitalisation, the disorders and the morbid demonstrations. We conclude that whatever is the background, the culture and the society, the inward mechanism of hysterical neurosis remain the same. Only its expression is changing

Full textWhen we evoke the myth of Pygmalion, we think of the history of this sculptor, who thanks to the intervention of the goddess of love, sees his statue of ivory taking life. However if we include in all the details the narrative of Ovide, we notice that it is the sculptor by his art whom animates the creature, Venus only perfecting the metamorphosis. It's that process of creation of an ideal woman by an artist, while operating on the basis of a projection of his desire on the feminine body that I choose to study here. For that purpose, I put in perspective several domains of creation (paint, sculpture, literature, but also cinema and fashion design) with the founding myth, to analyze the various methods in the "manufacturing" or "designing" of a woman and her image by an artist, as well as the relation which unites them. This research joins the very wide field of anthropology of the body and the image between several disciplines (art history, literature, ethnology, sociology). The meticulous analysis of the creative process in each of the domains studied, beyond the peculiarity of each creation, reveals a continuity in the configuration of the creative act. Even with the breach introduced by the technical reproductibility of the images, this continuity is not quectionned. Although the process can at first come down to two models distinguishing on one hand, a manufacturing process established on home-made means, and of the other hand, basing on industrial processes, the creative act sends back move widely to a model of creation in chain where the creature becomes every time a model for a new creation

Full textThis study approaches the works of Colette in two ways. The first part, titled "From Claudine's natural strength to the new woman", analyses the works of fiction of Colette beginning with the Claudine books, including for instance "La retraite sentimentale", "La vagabonde", "L'entrave" and distils from her heroines a model who personifies the ideal woman depicted by Colette. This study explains how this ideal person possesses an unshakeable strength and how this force manifests itself in all her activities and through all the circumstances of her life. In the second part: "Colette, 20th century novelist", this study examines the style of Colette by highlighting the similarities with the styles of some of the most representative 20th century French writers. The works of Colette and Proust are compared to find the ways in which the authors describe the diverse facets of the self. From the comparison made of the works of Colette and Gide emerges the need to break links with the past which gave them both the pleasure found in writing. On a different level, the study of the works of Colette and Sarraute shows the similarity of their negative view of the world and stylistically exposes their choice of "internal monologue" to depict inner events of mental life. For Colette and Duras, it is their understanding of passion and love which shows the similarities of their work, this sometimes extending to their stylistic treatment of feminine internal conflicts in a last chapter the style of Colette is outlined showing which are the elements of its strength

Full textBecause it unites the five elements of any mode of production - owners, workers, tools, property and labor rela- tions - the family forms a mode of production. Peasant's family, shephered's family in precapitalist France and Greece, craftsman's family, middleclass family and working-class fami- ly in capitalist society in these same countries forms more than a mode of production. The social statut of housewife is approximately equiva- lent to this one of slave. The concept of capitalist mode of production does not des- cribe complex social relations. It does provide a theorical model for these between capital and labor but it hides that between man and woman. This is despite the fact that relation between spo- oses is assimilated within a capitalist type of production. Within the middle-class family, in business world, in society as a whole, there existe a confusion between relations, between class and thoses existing between sexes

Full textPhysical and sports activities have been diversified and have spread to people who didn't have access to the sports system before, such as women for instance. Today, they are almost as numerous as men to practice sports. However the sports area remains a sexed territory that perpetuates a traditional masculinity and feminity. The objective of this research is to study the variations which can be spotted among the different representations of sportswomen. It also aims at drawing up a system of production of these representations. Indeed, the image of sportswomen is still problematic and can be subject of a pluralism of representations that can be organized. The analysis of these representations is structured according to different dimensions : general characteristics, physical appearance, way of being, feminity and values of sportswomen. Many semi-directive interviews have been lead and have permitted to attest that the pluralism of representations concerning sportswomen depends on people's commitment in sports system and on their trajectory

Full textThe purpose of this study is to describe the conditions of women in rural areas cameroon, who are those women ? What are their responsabilities ? And what problems they face in their work ? Our attention is focused on the regional differences in the status of women, their work, in traditional and modern societies. Our work is partially based on the data collected during afield-work researsh that we conducted in two villages, nlong and fontsa-toula. The natural conditions, the basic activities of the population, and the existing social organisation influence the sexual division of labour, land allocation, and the nature of feminine associations. This socio-cultural web will again influence the peasant activities today, our field data in nlong (eton's country, south central province) and fontsa-toula (bamileke's country western province) will confirm this hypothesis. It is essentially in the field of production, marketing of crops, and use of money, that we reveal the difference of strategies adopted by women in these two villages. It is true that the cultural back-ground of peasant women is adeterminant factor in analysis, nevertheless, we realize that if the problems of peasant women are accentuated because they are women, they joined also these of agricultural development in cameroon, and the rural world in general. Sexe is adiscriminating factor in : land allocation, mangement of domestic production and time use. . . .

Full textThe woman’s role in the trial can substantially be brought back to three areas: the evidence, the legal aid and the guilt. It is generally accepted that the woman could not be a witness. However this does not what come out from the Digest, where is deduced a general witness ability unless the woman has not been condemned for adultery.Even though the woman was excluded moribus from the officia virilia (D. 50.17.2 pr.-1), in addition to the position of witness, there are testimonies of mulieres that discussed cases pro se aut pro aliis. This women are judged by the ancient authors with indignation (because the in iudicis tacere was the only appropriate behavior for the female condicio naturae). They are extraordinary exempla, that must be handed down as negative examples.Of course, there was no place in the Roman world for women judges. It is interesting how Cassius Dio (h. R. 50.5.4) uses this foreclosure, to demonstrate how much Queen Cleopatra was far from the Roman customs. The largest range of cases is the one of mulieres reae. The Idealtypus of the woman for the Romans is the one of a good wife and a good mother, sober, reliable, silent. In this social background, the female crimes more perpetrated are therefore veneficium, adulterium, stuprum and probum. It is particular also the crime of wine drinking, a hypothesis of crime that is punished only if it is made by a woman. The mulier was – within the limits of her status – cives and she could be tried with every trial system. But, some characteristics have distinguished the trial against men from the trial against women
