PREMISE OF THE STUDY: The purpose of the current investigation was to study the population polymorphism of Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel on the main morphological indicators of growth in natural populations of the Mangistau region, as well as to identify the possibility of diagnosing the reserves of its medicinal raw materials by soil-meliorative parameters. METHODS: We performed a study of the polymorphism of Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel growing in natural populations of Mangyshlak and found the basic morphological growth indicators and correlations both

Results of a research of a condition of populations of Ferula foetida (Apiaceae family) in the territory of Mangystau region are given in the article. The composition, structure of populations, polymorphism, and condition of growth and peculiarities of the natural populations of Ferula foetidais studied. The general projective covering in community was from 35 to 80 %. Occurrence of samples of Ferula foetida was 0.1–0.8 pieces/sq.m. In natural populations all age states (from 1 year old to 7 years old individuals) are revealed; in a generative phase 5-6-7 years old individuals are noted. On th

The daily increasing demand for medicinal products obtained from Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel and F. tadshikorum Pimenov, from species of the Ferula L. family, is causing a decrease in plant biodiversity and their reserves. This paper presents the growth and development of F. tadshikorum and F. foetida in different environments under plantation conditions. The seeds of Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel and F. tadshikorum Pimenov were sown separately in sandy, gray and potash-rich soils, 0.5-1.0 cm deep, in 2 variants in December. The morphological traits of growth in aboveground and underground organs of Ferula foetida found in Mangystau, depending on the age and place habitat of the plant, have been studied for the first time. A very high variability (up to 54-98%) of the great majority of the morphological traits, except for sizes of leaves of the 1st rosette and length of the main root before branching (12-26%), is noted for all the studied populations, which is explained by almost proportional participation in formation of composition of populations with species of different age. Meanwhile, variation of isomers in

For the first time, the dynamics of the accumulation of essential oil in the underground organs of Ferula foetida grown on the territory of the Mangistau region (the Western Kazakhstan), depending on the age of the plant and the place of growth, are investigated. The maximum accumulation of essential oil is noted for the 4th year of vegetation (0.98%), the minimum – for the annual plants (0.14%). The largest quantitative composition of essential oil is noted in the sands of Tuyesu and on the elevation of Tynymbay Shoky, the minimum – in the vicinity of the Karkol wintering. Seventy percent of the territory of Uzbekistan consists of arid regions. This situation is considered very favorable for plants adapted to a desert climate. Medicinal plants distributed in the arid regions of Uzbekistan have not been studied much. Medicinal plants are considered inexpensive, yet are vital for the lives of local residents. They play a very important role in the traditional healing of ailments. To determine the current state of medicinal plants and enhance their subsequent protection and sustainable use, it is necessary to obtain annual information on the state of their distribu
