Abstract:
Random fiber lasers, a new type of fiber laser that uses disordered medium to provide distributed feedback, have drawn considerable interest in the photonics community over the past ten years. Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), with a typical narrow spectral width of ~100 MHz, provides an important gain mechanism for random fiber lasers. Brillouin random fiber laser (BRFL) has shown excellent advantages in generating highly coherent photons and in ultrasound sensing. However, the accompanied large intensity noise in BRFLs hinders its further performance improvement and practical applicatio

A drawback of mechanical pulp production is the high amounts of electrical energy needed to separate and refine the fibers to a given fiber quality. We propose a theoretical model for the frequency noise of an Er-doped fiber random lasers using the property of random phase modulations from multiple scattering points in ultra-long fibers. We find that the Rayleigh feedback suppresses the noise at higher frequencies by introducing a Lorentzian envelope over the thermal frequency noise of a long fiber cavity. However, CPC is brittle and does not have a porous structure, which is disadvantageous for cell growth. This study aims to create CPC with a porous structure for cell growth via the addition of porogen that have different particle sizes and blending ratios. Moreover, fibers that are used in the biomedical field are also incorporated in order to improve the toughness and brittle fracture of CPC. The porous fiber-embedded bone scaffolds are t

In this study, bamboo fibers are used to be reinforced material with PLA and supposed to provide a typical fiber-reinforcement that may lead to improvement in the mechanical properties of the composites. Hopefully, improvement is expected in heat resistance, impact resistance, and flame retardancy. To achieve our goal

The experimental methods are adopted to study the performance and characteristics of the cell under certain operational conditions. In order to obtain the permeability of carbon fiber bipolar plates the pressure drops and flow rates are measured on the two sides of the carbon fiber bunch. A test device has been developed to separate the gas of the two sides so that the gas can only flow through the gaps between carbon fibers. Additionally, the gas pressures
