La publication en 1492, par Marsile Ficin, de la première traduction latine des Ennéades et du monumental commentaire qui l’accompagne marque le retour de Plotin en Occident. Le manuscrit de travail de Ficin, le Parisinus graecus 1816 de la Bibliothèque nationale de France nous offre un témoignage exceptionnel concernant les principales étapes philosophiques et historiques qui ont marqué l’élaboration du Plotinus latinus. Les quelque 2500 annotations inscrites par Ficin sur les marges de ce manuscrit qui fut mis à sa disposition par Côme l’Ancien sont ici éditées, traduites et commentées. Cet important apparat exégétique jusque là inédit éclaire les différentes facettes du travail accompli par Ficin durant plusieurs décennies sur le texte très difficile de Plotin : des corrections apportées au texte transmis – une partie de ces interventions ont trouvé leur chemin jusque dans les éditions contemporaines sans toutefois que leur origine ait toujours été reconnue – à la confrontation doctrinale avec le néoplatonisme profondément original de Plotin, le manuscrit met en scène un Ficin soucieux d’intégrer les Ennéades dans sa vision à la fois chrétienne et platonicienne de la concordia philosophorum, mais aussi conscient des aspérités et audaces difficilement récupérables du texte plotinien. Cette lecture ficinienne des Ennéades produit à son tour de multiples échos dans l’oeuvre propre de Ficin et contribue ainsi à irriguer les débats philosophiques de la Renaissance et au-delà
The publication in 1492 of the first Latin translation by Ficino of the Enneads and his monumental accompanying commentary marks the return of Plotinus in the West. Ficino's working manuscript, Par. gr. 1816 of the French Bibliothèque Nationale, offers us exceptional evidence concerning the major philosophical and historical milestones in the elaboration of the Plotinus latinus. The nearly 2,500 annotations written by Ficino in the margins of this manuscript, put at his disposition by Cosimo de' Medici, are here edited, translated and commented upon. This important, previously unpublished exegetical instrument illustrates the various facets of Ficino's work over several decades on Plotinus's very difficult text: through his corrections of the transmitted text – some of these interventions have found their way into contemporary editions though their origin has not always been recognised – in doctrinal confrontation with the profoundly original Platonism of Plotinus, the manuscript reveals a Ficino anxious to integrate the Enneads in his own vision – at once Christian and Platonic – of the concordia philosophorum, whilst at the same time conscious of the sneering and audacity hardly worth saving of the Plotinian text. This Ficinian reading of the Enneads found diverse echoes in Ficino's own work and thus contributed to philosophical debate in the Renaissance and beyond

Abstract:
Enzimas proteolíticas de origem vegetal têm sido amplamente empregadas em diversos estudos devido a sua capacidade de clivar anticorpos em fragmentos específicos, o que, para algumas aplicações, pode ser mais interessante do que a molécula de imunoglobulina como um todo. Além disso, elas podem ser utilizadas diretamente no paciente no papel de um \"fármaco\" (Há exemplos da aplicação de enzimas no estudo de várias patologias como: doenças auto-imunes, traumáticas ou neurológicas), no auxílio de técnicas clínicas para a detecção de anticorpos e como ferramentas para a produção de soros. Apesar de a utilização dessas enzimas ter grande importância e extensa aplicabilidade, o modo de ação das proteases ainda não é bem compreendido, entretanto, as mesmas são de fácil acesso e largamente encontradas na natureza. A ficina (encontrada nas figueiras) e bromelina (proveniente do abacaxi) são, por exemplo, enzimas que vem sendo exploradas em diversos trabalhos e demostram capacidade de digerir anticorpos. Neste projeto, propusemos verificar a atividade destas enzimas sobre anticorpos provenientes de equinos produção de fragmentos imunorreativos de imunoglobulina a partir de proteases de origem vegetal, diminuindo o risco potencial de transmissão de doenças de origem animal. Espera-se que os fragmentos gerados possam contribuir para diversos estudos de ordem clínica e para a produção de soros adequados contra as toxinas presentes nos venenos de animais. As amostras de soro foram obtidas a partir da imunização dos cavalos pertencentes ao Instituto Butantan, com \"pool\" de veneno de serpente do gênero Bothrops. Esses anticorpos foram purificados utilizando ácido caprílico, digeridos por bromelina ou ficina e diafiltrados. Os resultados obtidos indicam a formação do fragmento de imunoglobulina F(ab)\'2, como proposto no projeto, entretanto necessitando ainda de um delineamento experimental mais amplo a fim de otimizar o processo de digestão atingindo uma maior quantidade de fragmentos F(ab)\'2.
Proteolytic enzymes from vegetal origin have been largely employed in several studies due to its capacity to cleave antibodies into specific fragments, which for some applications, could be more relevant than the immunoglobulin molecule itself. Beyond that, they could be used directley into a patient playing the role of a \"drug\" (There are examples of enzyme application in studies of several pathologies such as autoimmune, traumatic and neurological diseases), in the aid of clinical techniques for antibodies detection and as tools for serum production. Despite the fact that those enzymes have been of great importance and large applicability, its ease of access and ubiquity in nature, the protease mode of action is still not fully understood. Ficin (found in Fig trees) and Bromelain (found in pineapples) are, for example, enzymes that are being explored in an array of articles and demonstrate the capacity to digest antibodies. In this project, we propose to verify the activity of such enzymes from vegetal origins over the antibodies obtained from equines in the production of immunoreactive fragments of immunoglobulin, lowering the potential risk of animal origin diseases transmission. It is hoped that the fragments generated can contribute to studies of clinical level and the production of proper serum against toxins present in animal poisons. Plasma samples were obtained from horse immunization with a venon \"pool\" from Bothrops snakes at Instituto Butantan. These antibodies were purified using caprilic acid, digested by bromelain or ficin and purified again using chromatographic techniques. The results indicate the formation of an immunoglobulin fragment - F(ab)\'2, however, more experiments are needed to optimize the digestive process in order to improve the reaction yield.

Une archéologie de l"humanisme" renaissant est suivie par une étude sur la survivance de l'ancienne érotique de garçons dans la cours des Médicis et par une évaluation des sources de la magie astrale de Ficin dans le but de nuancer les hypothèses de Frances A. This PhD dissertation is focused on astrology as a discipline during the Italian Renaissance and studies the case of the astrologer, philosopher, theologian and physician Marsilio Ficino (1422-1499). Through the example of Ficino, we study the survival of the ancient astrology derived from Greek and Roman practices. This dissertation proposes a genealogy of astrological humanism and studies the relationships amongst the political theology and the economic theology supported by Ficino. An archaeology of Renaissance humanism is followed by a study of the survival of the ancient model of make sexuality in the Medici culture and we propose a research about the sources of Ficino's astral magic and in order to nuance Frances A. Yates's hypotheses which defend the importance of the Corpus Hermeticum in Ficino's magic

Abstract:
La censure de la musique existe depuis l’antiquité. Aristote et Platon ont rappelé le danger de la mimesis musicale et sa valeur morale a été largement discutée par les Pères de l’église, mais le débat est également enflammé à l’époque moderne, lorsque l’on trouve deux tendances fondamentales sur les fronts catholiques et réformés : d’un côté le rôle central de la musique pour la liturgie, de l’autre le contrôle des autorités ecclésiastiques à tous les aspects de la vie des fidèles (la religion, les lectures, les croyances magiques, les habitudes alimentaires et sexuelles, et toutes les formes de sociabilité desquelles la musique est l’ingrédient essentiel). Un examen des sources peut montrer qu’aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles, le domaine dans lequel on trouve une formulation claire et des réponses à cette problématique n’est pas l’humanisme laïque. Les intérêts des humanistes se concentrent sur la reconstruction d’une grammaire des affects qui est un alibi pour l’émancipation de la musique moderne, la seconda pratiqua, et la capacité de la musique à provoquer les affects importe davantage que sa faculté à leur imposer une limite. C’est dans le terrain de la théologie et de la casuistique qu’on discute l’aspect éthique de la question. Le concile de Trente (1564) et les édits diocésains condamnent le chromatisme, la messe parodie et l’utilisation des répertoires musicaux profanes dans la liturgie. La censure de la Congrégation de l’Index et du Saint Office s’étend à toutes les pratiques de communication populaire écrites et orales, et notamment au pétrarquisme. De Savonarole à Descartes, toutes les tentatives de déterminer la valeur affective des éléments de la composition supposent un diagnostic sur les facultés de l’âme et sur ses opérations lors de la fascination. La grammaire polyphonique peut modifier par ses tressages sonores le rapport entre le texte et la mélodie, détourner l’attention et conduire l’auditeur à une transgression émotionnelle (altérité, alienatio, excessus mentis). Étant donnée la corruption de la nature humaine, l’abandon au plaisir de la mélodie constitue un désordre coupable, sans commune mesure avec la musique qui pouvait bercer l’âme harmonieuse du premier homme. Reste, comme remède, la grâce sanctifiante du texte révélé des psaumes, à utiliser comme frein modérateur pour tempérer la puissance émotive de la musique
Is it possible to censure music? This question may sound rather extravagant, and this is perhaps why music is often overlooked in studies on ecclesiastical censorship in the early modern period, for it would seem that its very essence is incompatible with any form of control. In fact, the huge transformation the Catholic Church had to face, between the sixteenth and the seventeenth century, had a big impact on the music scene. Unavoidably, music was involved in the disputes between Catholics and Protestants as essential liturgical element. The musicologists have mainly studied the Council of Trent action, which seemed to be animated by the desire to remove the secular textual and melodic components from the church repertory. Therefore, Rome became the main center of production for sacred and spiritual music used in celebrations, devotional practices and also in teaching catechism. The case of the Society of Jesus is exemplar: music represent a powerful means of education in college programs, and a strategic tool in the catechesis work. To the enhancement of spiritual genres corresponds as well the will of ‘suppress’ the profane repertories. This is well documented during the age of Counter Reformation, by the variety of cases of ‘‘travestimento’’ which invest canzonette and madrigals. This attitude was also proved by some of the measures the ecclesiastical censure adopted against the vocal production since the seventies of the sixteenth century. In ancient Greek musical theory, harmony was seen as being endowed with a natural virtue capable of altering the rational faculties of the listener’s soul, to the extent of depriving that person of his freedom. The many ethical implications of this classical axiom featured in early modern theological debates. My thesis tries to provide a first answer to these questions by studying the conciliar decrees, the documents of the Index Congregation, the treatises on music and the manuals on demonology. These sources reveal musical censorship did not only involve zealous inquisitors battling with some licentious musician, but also the language of worship and the circulation of prohibited knowledge, which included dangers in the form of sounds that went beyond erotic seduction

The study of the Marsilio Ficino's correspondence, whose first book is being comprehensively translated, reveals an aspect of his philosophy which is usually ignored. Inspired by Stoicism, the moral thought of the master of Platonician Academy in Florence finds in the letter its most appropriate way of expression. Indeed because epistolary literature daily examines the actions of the correspondents, it may be seen as an opportunity to reflect on virtues as well as the philosophical style most likely to encourage people to live a good life. This practical philosophy ensures the progress of the soul, after looking into itself, toward virtue, and as a consequence catches sight of its unity as well as its divinity. La thèse étudie et met en lumière la thématique, centrale dans la philosophie de Marsile Ficin, de la temporalité. L’œuvre de Ficin est, en effet, traversée par ces figures du temps que sont la tradition, la révélation et l’espérance. Pensée cohérente et unitaire, la philosophie de Ficin ne forme pas pour autant un système mais est bien plutôt l’expression d’une dynamique, celle de la pensée renaissante. Dans cette étude, les formes de la temporalité et l’unicité du monde sont examinées à travers l’analyse du Commentaire de la République de Platon par Marsile Ficin qui ne met pas tant l’accent sur les thèmes politiques et éthiques propres au dialogue platonicien mais à la différence de celui-ci se veut explicitement métaphysique et théologique ne serait-ce que parce que les figures de la temporalité y sont conçues comme autant de points de vue métaphysiques à partir desquels sont envisagés le monde et les êtres qui le composent.Ce texte n’ayant pas bénéficié de traduction française moderne, la thèse comble de surcroît une lacune dans les études ficiniennes en proposant pour la première fois une traduction en français des Argumenta in Rempublicam Platonis. Cette version française s’appuie sur l’établissement critique du texte, s’assortit d’une notice, de notes complémentaires et de la possibilité de se référer aux différents témoignages sur lesquels ce travail se fonde. Enfin, la thèse met en évidence une définition proprement ficinienne de la temporalité comme réalité spirituelle et humaine en examinant la question de la genèse et de la généalogie des concepts temporels et en en montrant l’implication cosmologique
The thesis studies and highlights the central theme of temporality in Marsilio Ficino’s philosophy which is a thought crossed by the figures of time that are tradition, revelation and hope. The philosophy of Ficino, which is both a coherent and united thought, is not a system but it is rather the expression of a dynamic, specific to the Renaissance thought. In this study, the forms of the temporality and the unicity of the world are examined through the critical analysis of Marsilio Ficino's Commentary on the Republic of Plato which, unlike the political and ethical themes specific to the platonic dialogue, is expressly metaphysical and theological because the figures of temporality are conceived as so many metaphysical points of view from which are contemplated the world and the beings composing it. As this text did not benefit from a modern French translation, the thesis fills a gap in ficinian studies by proposing for the first time a French translation of the Argumenta in Rempublicam Platonis is proposed for the first time and, this French version, which is based on the critical establishment of the text, includes a notice, additional notes and the possibility of referring to the various sources on which this work is based. Finally, the thesis exposes a strictly ficinian definition of temporality as a spiritual and human reality by dealing with the question of the genesis and genealogy of temporal concepts and showing its cosmological implication

On connaît Marsile Ficin (1433−1499) comme étant l’auteur qui a influencé bon nombre d’artistes de la Renaissance, notamment par le succès de son Commentaire du Banquet de Platon. Mais Ficin est avant tout, pour nous, le père d'une théorie esthétique d'ordre symbolique présente dans toute son œuvre et dépassant les simples considérations sur l'art. Pour le comprendre, il nous a paru indispensable de nous intéresser de près à ses écrits symboliques, mais aussi de nous pencher sur sa vie. Une part importante de son symbolisme provient de l’orphisme et se retrouve dans l’ensemble de son œuvre, et particulièrement dans celle qui nous est apparue comme la plus importante : La Théologie platonicienne ou De l’Immortalité des Âmes. En se consacrant à l’âme, Ficin propose à son lecteur une nouvelle direction. Celle-ci inaugure le développement d’une métaphysique de la lumière d’inspiration hermétique dont l’œil, symbole de l’âme, est au cœur de sa réflexion. Cette œuvre majeure laisse ainsi place à une esthétique de la vision dont l’originalité tient en réalité de la redécouverte d’une tradition philosophique, spirituelle et esthétique antique oubliée à laquelle Ficin a su, selon nous, redonner vie de manière inspirée
We know Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) as the author who influenced many artists of the Renaissance, notably through the success of his ‘Commentary on Plato's Symposium on Love’. But for us, Ficino is above all the father of an aesthetic theory of a symbolic nature that permeates all his work and goes beyond mere considerations of art. To understand him, we felt it essential to take a close look at his symbolic writings, but also to examine his life. A large part of his symbolism stems from Orphism and is to be found throughout his work, particularly in what we consider to be his most important work: ‘The Platonic Theology: On the Immortality of the Soul’. By devoting himself to the soul, Ficino offers his reader a new direction. It inaugurates the development of a metaphysics of light inspired by Hermeticism, in which the eye, symbol of the soul, is at the heart of his thinking. This major work thus gives way to an aesthetics of vision, the originality of which lies in the rediscovery of a forgotten ancient philosophical, spiritual and aesthetic tradition to which Ficino has, in our view, given inspired new life

Au XVe siècle, le philosophe florentin Marsile Ficin (1433-1499) rédige un texte singulier intitulé De vita coelitus comparanda ou « comment obtenir la vie du ciel » qui deviendra le troisième et dernier livre d’un ouvrage médical de plus large envergure, le De vita libri tres, consacré à conserver et à prolonger la santé des hommes de lettres accablés sous le poids de l’étude. Ce texte est tout entier consacré au pouvoir apotropaïque et prophylactique du talisman ou « image astrologique », une notion savante qui apparaît en Occident au milieu du XIIIe siècle, et insiste tout particulièrement sur la matérialité, la forme et l’apparence de ces images. Ainsi Ficin développe-t-il un discours original par rapport à la tradition en se concentrant sur le processus de fabrication, discours qui n’est pas sans rappeler les premières théories de l’art qui apparaissent à la même époque à Florence. Ficin réhabilite la figure du mage antique dans le cadre d’une réflexion plus vaste qui met en exergue le pouvoir créateur de l’homme en tant que savant, humaniste et philosophe. Si le postulat d’une influence tardive du néoplatonisme ficinien sur la littérature artistique du XVIe siècle a donné lieu à de nombreuses études, il apparaît en revanche que les rapports que Ficin était susceptible d’entretenir avec le monde des artistes, et surtout des artistes-théoriciens du XVe siècle, demeure un terrain relativement peu exploré. Tout l’enjeu de notre travail se situe donc dans la triple interrogation que ce concours de circonstances soulève : quel rôle jouent au sein de la pensée magique de Ficin les allusions à l’art et à sa pratique qui traversent l'ensemble de son œuvre? dans quelle mesure la notion d’«image astrologique» qu’il reprend et développe s’est-elle nourrie de la nouvelle littérature artistique alors en pleine formation? et enfin, comment peut-on affirmer que certaines œuvres typiques du Quattrocento florentin relèvent d’un caractère « mixte » oscillant entre le produit de l’art à proprement parler et l’objet magique?
In fifteenth-century Florence, the philosopher Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) wrote the De vita coelitus comparanda, i.e. “how to capture life from the heavens”, which would later form the last and third book of a larger volume titled De vita libri tres. The latter exposes the means to preserve the health and extend the life of man of letters afflicted by their intense studies. The former deals with the apotropaic and prophylactic power of the talismans also called “astrological images”, following a learned concept which appeared in Western Europe in the mid-thirteenth century, and focuses on the materiality, form and appearance of these images. Ficino hence develops a new reflexion that focuses on the process of making which seems to echo new artistic theories devised during the same period in Florence. Ficino redeems the figure of the ancient magus by enhancing man’s creative power and his status as a philosopher and a humanist. The assumption of a late influence of Ficino’s neoplatonic thought on the arts in the sixteenth century has led to several studies but its genesis and its potential links with the artistic world and, especially his fellows artist-theoreticians, remained to be fully investigated. This thesis aims therefore to investigate the role of the artistic references within Ficino’s magic thought, the influence of contemporary ideas on the art practice upon his conception of “astrological image”, and the nature of specific artworks typical of fifteenth-century Florence, which seem to respond to both a magical and an artistic purpose

Les esprits de l'animée gagnent par la fenêtre des yeux de cœur de l'amant ou ils se reconvertissent en sang, un sang étranger qui empoisonne le corps envahi et y grave comme par corrosion une image de delie. Cette image suscite un ravissement négatif qui entraîne "résolution", mélancolie, dysfonctionnement des principes vitaux, toutes morts d'amour agravées par le refus de la réciprocité qui permettrait a l'esprit de l'amant d'investir a son tour le corps de l'aimée pour y revivre - delie est doublement homicide. Mais cette image réveille aussi dans l'âme intellective l'idée de beauté que l'amant, au terme d'une anamnèse volontairement entreprise, peut dans un ravissement positif contempler. Essentiellement paradoxale, la beauté corporelle apparaît ainsi comme une tension vers la matière en même temps que la première étape d'un pèlerinage épistémologique qui ramène l'âme vers son principe comme dans la conversion plotinienne de l'être : l'individu amoureux, que son désir constitue comme sujet, manifeste son libre-arbitre en choisissant la qualite spirituelle. Aussi la delie propose-t-elle une conception de la représentation qui privilégie des configurations de signes en forme d'énigmes, exigeant une lecture spirituelle, tandis que paradoxismes et procédés de la brièveté, dans une tension vers l'aphasie, manifestent le fait qu'"entier congnoissance" reste au delà du discursif. Ficino's in convivium was for sceve the model of a psychophysiology of the fascination of love influenced by the platonic concept of vision and the theme of the migration of spirits out of the body they are in charge of, by means of eyesight, plays an important part in the delie. The spirits of the beloved reach the lover's heart through the breach of the eyes to be converted into blood, a foreign blood poisonous for the invaded body, an image of delie being consequently etched therein. The image starts up a negative trance, the source of "resolution", melancholy, the unsettling of vital principles - as many deaths from love aggravated by the refusal of reciprocity which would enable the lover's spirit ot invest in turn the beloved's body where to live anew. Delie is twice a murderess. But this image also wakes up in the intellective soul the idea of beauty which the lover, in a state of positive trance, an contemplate after voluntarity starting an amnesis. Corporeal beauty, essentially paradoxical, thus appears as a tension towards matter as well as the first stage in an epistemological pilgrinage which brings back the soul to its principle as in the plotinian conversion of the being. The person in love whom desire turms into a subject asserts its free will by chosing spirituality. So in the delie representation answers a concept which favours sign patterns as enigmas requiring spiritual reading whereas paradoxical and brief statements aiming at aphasia reveal the fact that human words are inadequated to reach "entiere congnoissance". But sceve also uses new image patterns from the psychophysiological stock so that peaceable intercourse with nature is substitute for the mediatory desirable body

Y-a-t-il un lien entre la mode vestimentaire des trois dernières décennies du XVe siècle et la pensée des cercles humanistes néoplatoniciens de cette période ? C'est la question que nous nous sommes posée au vu du changement manifeste apporté à la représentation de la mode au cours de ces années là, par rapport à la période précédente. Notre objectif en essayant de répondre à cette question était triple. Il s'agissait d'abord de proposer de nouvelles pistes de recherches dans un domaine jusqu'ici peu exploré, celui de la phénoménologie du vêtement porté, par opposition à l'étude traditionnelle du costume 'vide' de corps. Il s'agissait ensuite de déterminer si un courant de pensée abstrait par définition, peut être rendu manifeste par une forme concrète, ici le vêtement, dès lors que ce courant touche à l'un ou l'autre des problèmes fondamentaux d'une société et d'établir si la mode vestimentaire, concrète par définition, répond bien à des critères abstraits, ici mathématiques et philosophiques, pour déterminer la silhouette qui correspond le mieux au courant de pensée auquel souscrit à un moment donné la société qui l'adopte. Le néoplatonisme de Marsile Ficin étant le courant philosophique majeur des années 1470-1500, après en avoir résumé les idées essentielles, nous nous sommes donc efforcée de suivre les traces laissées par celui-ci dans les incunables à figures de l'époque, ainsi que dans les textes. Nous avons ensuite tenté d'analyser l'impact de ces diverses traces sur les comportements de l'époque susceptibles d'influencer les pratiques vestimentaires, notamment les comportements sexuels. Puis nous avons essayé d'établir une définition précise de ce qui est constitutif de la mode pour pouvoir ensuite démontrer que la mode vestimentaire des années 1470-1500 est bien le reflet de la pensée néoplatonicienne. Is there a causal link between fashionable clothes worn during the last three decades of the XVth century and Neo-Platonism thinking among humanists of the period? The question was prompted by our observation that a major change in fashion had occurred during those years. Our objective, when trying to answer the question was a three-pronged one, it was first to suggest new avenues of research in a field heretofore seldom exploited, that of the phenomenology of clothes, in as much as traditional research in that area approach costume as if it were empty of the body that carries it. Secondly it was to try and determine whether a current of thought, abstract by nature could be made manifest by a concrete form, in this case clothing, whenever this current deals with one or the other of the fundamental problems of a given society, and thirdly, to establish whether fashion clothing, concrete by nature, actually responds to abstract criteria, in this case mathematical and philosophical ones, to determine the silhouette which best corresponds to the current of thought under which the society that wears it operates, Neo-Platonism. A-, propounded by Marsilio Ficino, being the major current of thought during the years 1470-1500, we have tried first to summarize its essential components, following which we have tried to trace its impact on images of the period, mostly in illustrated incunabula, as well as on written texts of the times. Next we attempted to analyze the impact of these traces on such contemporary behavior as was likely to have had an influence on clothing practices, notably sexual behavior. We then established a firm definition of what constitutes fashion so as to be able to demonstrate that clothing worn during the 1470-1500 decades is an accurate reflection of Neo-Platonist thought. We have then attributed a symbolic geometric figure to the fashion of that period to define it in Neo-Platonist terms

Abstract:
The thesis studies and highlights the central theme of temporality in Marsilio Ficino’s philosophy which is a thought crossed by the figures of time that are tradition, revelation and hope. The philosophy of Ficino, which is both a coherent and united thought, is not a system but it is rather the expression of a dynamic, specific to the Renaissance thought. In this study, the forms of the temporality and the unicity of the world are examined through the critical analysis of Marsilio Ficino's Commentary on the Republic of Plato which, unlike the political and ethical themes specific to the platonic dialogue, is expressly metaphysical and theological because the figures of temporality are conceived as so many metaphysical points of view from which are contemplated the world and the beings composing it. As this text did not benefit from a modern French translation, the thesis fills a gap in ficinian studies by proposing for the first time a French translation of the Argumenta in Rempublicam Platonis is proposed for the first time and, this French version, which is based on the critical establishment of the text, includes a notice, additional notes and the possibility of referring to the various sources on which this work is based. Finally, the thesis exposes a strictly ficinian definition of temporality as a spiritual and human reality by dealing with the question of the genesis and genealogy of temporal concepts and showing its cosmological implication.

La présente étude se consacre à examiner les attitudes de Rabelais vis-à-vis de la magie. Sous l’angle biographique il est connu que notre humaniste ne manque pas d’occasions de se familiariser avec ce courant de pensée. Ses connaissances de l’occultisme se reflètent profondément dans son oeuvre. L’ironie de Rabelais face à la magie, qui existe certes dans son texte, n’est pourtant pas totale, vu qu’il puise son inspiration sincère dans le réservoir magique. Le sujet de la magie chez Rabelais, constituant une problématique complexe, attire souvent l’attention des critiques, mais fait rarement l’objet d’études sérieuses malgré son importance. En prenant comme fil conducteur le manuel de magie à grand succès, De occulta philosophia, d’Henri-Corneille Agrippa von Nettesheim, notre thèse tente d’éclaircir ce que Rabelais doit à des humanistes versés dans la magie, tels que Marsile Ficin ou Coelius Rhodiginus. Suivant la classification d’Agrippa, notre analyse textuelle porte successivement sur la magie céleste, la magie naturelle et la magie cérémonielle, ainsi que la magie démonique. En s’inspirant de saint Augustin et de Ficin, Rabelais distingue la magie blanche de type nécessaire, studieux et scientifique de la magie noire de caractère vain, curieux et ostentatoire. Mais en même temps, la stratégie littéraire de Rabelais laisse en suspens des choix possibles et variés pour expliquer les phénomènes admirables en parsemant son texte d’indices fabuleux pour inciter le lecteur à plus haut sens.a mon avis, Rabelais subit leur influence de façon plus profonde qu'on ne le dit, et puise son inspiration dans la lecture de leurs livres. l'hermétisme étant à la fois une pensée philosophique, religieuse, chimique et syncrétique, mon sujet nous permet de réexaminer globalement des problèmes variés concernant Rabelais. tout cela contribuera à l'interprétation de l'œuvre de Rabelais
The present study aims to examine Rabelais’s attitudes towards magic. From a biographical point of view, it is known that our humanist did not lack opportunities to familiarise himself with this current of thought. And hisknowledge of occultism is profoundly reflected in his works. Although Rabelais can be seen to treat the topic of magic with a degree of irony, he nonetheless appears to draw sincere inspiration from magical works and texts. While magic in Rabelais’s works, and its resultant complexities, have always attracted the attention of critics, its use and significance have not been sufficiently investigated in previous studies. Led by clues found in the bestsellingmanual of magic, De occulta philosophia by Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim, this study attempts to clarify the influence on Rabelais of humanists well-versed in the art of magic, such as Marsilio Ficinoor Coelius Rhodiginus. Employing Agrippa’s classification taxonomy, our textual analysis deals successively with celestial magic, natural magic and ceremonial magic, as well as demonic magic. Analysis reveals that Rabelais, inspired by Saint Augustine and Ficino, distinguishes white magic of necessary, studious, and scientific type from black magic of vain, curious, and ostentatious character. The literary strategy of Rabelais, however, leaves open a number of possible method of elucidating admirable phenomena, scattering the text with fabulous indices in order to invite readers to interpret them in a higher sense

Im Zebrafisch (Danio rerio) ist ein Protein identifiziert worden, das eine wichtige Rolle in der Entwicklung der Brustflossen zu besitzen scheint und als Fibin, dem englischen Akronym für Fin bud initiation factor (Flossenknospeninitiationsfaktor), bezeichnet wurde. Es zeigt keine Verwandtschaft zu anderen bekannten Proteinen, enthält keine typischen Strukturmotive, wird auf nur einem Exon kodiert und ist in allen bisher untersuchten Vertebraten, einschließlich des Menschen, evolutionär hoch konserviert. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war die nähere funktionelle und proteinbiochemische Charakterisierung Fibins. In vielen Geweben adulter Mäuse (Mus musculus), v. a. in zerebralen und muskulären Proben, konnte Fibin mRNA nachgewiesen werden. Im Vergleich zum Adultus war die Expression in Geweben pränataler Mäuse bedeutend höher und unterschied sich in der Region der Vordergliedmaßen kaum von der im Torso. In L929 (Fibroblasten) und HEK Zellen (embryonale Nierenzellen) wurde eine hohe Expression von Fibin nachgewiesen, die in L929 Zellen durch Glukokortikoide und Aktivatoren des Proteinkinase C / MAP-Kinase , Proteinkinase A sowie des NF-κB / AP-1 bzw. Nrf2 / ARE Signalwegs erhöht werden konnte. Die nicht-proteinkodierende 5‘ Region des humanen Fibin Gens zeigte im Luciferase Reporterassay in L929 und HEK Zellen promotogene Eigenschaften, mit einem Aktivitätsmaximum der Sequenz – 836 Basenpaare bezogen auf den Translationsstartpunkt. In L929 Zellen wurde die promotogene Aktivität durch Glukokortikoide und Aktivatoren des Proteinkinase C / MAP-Kinase- sowie des NF κB / AP 1 bzw. Nrf2 / ARE Signalwegs erhöht. Fibin besitzt eine putative N terminale Signalsequenz und eine N Glykosylierungsstelle, die beide experimentell bestätigt wurden. Rekombinantes Fibin zeigte in der Fluoreszenzmikroskopie in COS-7 Zellen (Fibroblasten) eine hohe Kolokalisation mit dem Endoplasmatischen Retikulum, jedoch nur eine geringe mit dem Golgi Apparat. In COS-7 Zellen wurde es nicht über den sekretorischen Weg freigesetzt und zeigte in proteinbiochemischen Untersuchungen eine hohe Tendenz zur Aggregation und Ausbildung von Disulfidbrücken. Es ist anzunehmen, dass Fibin möglicherweise ein bisher unbekanntes Protein für die Ausbildung von Heteromeren benötigt, um erfolgreich sezerniert zu werden.

The aim of this work was evaluate the effect of water deficit on two common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars. For that, an experiment was carried out in greenhouse, with Ouro Negro and Diplomata cultivars, on Plant Science sector of Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. The two cultivars were submitted to eight days of drought and four days of rehydration in a completely randomized design. The results show that the cultivar Diplomata has a better performance under water deficit conditions, presenting leaf base water potential values (?a) higher than the black gold in the last days of stress. Analysis of the fluorescence of chlorophyll a demonstrated statistically significant variation between cultivars, with the cultivar Diplomata presenting higher values for most of the parameters analyzed, such as Fv/Fm, ?F/F'm and lower values of the NPQ variable. About photoinhibition, the diplomat genotype showed a significant difference with lower values on the seventh day of stress and on the second day of rehydration, indicating a higher reversal of damage from photoinhibition throughout the day. Regarding the content of starch, the cultivar Ouro negro showed high values before stress (AE), but there was no significant difference among both cultivars during (DE) and in rehydration (R). In relation to the protein content, the cultivar Diplomata showed significantly higher values (AE) and in (R). Also, for the potential of biological nitrogen fixation (PFBN), the cultivar Diplomata showed a significantly higher number of nodules and nodules mass (AE) and (DE), as for the morphologic parameters, the Ouro negro showed higher root dry weight (MSR) at the (R), but Diplomata had a higher leaf dry weight (MSF) at the (R) too. For the yield components of the cultivar Diplomata had a significantly higher grain mass/plant under stress compared to the cultivar Ouro negro. Therefore, these results indicate a better adaptation to drought cultivar Diplomata.
Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito do d?ficit h?drico em dois cultivares de feijoeiro comum (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Para isso, foi realizado um experimento em casa de vegeta??o, com os cultivares Ouro negro e Diplomata, no setor de Fitotecnia da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro. Os dois cultivares foram submetidos a oito dias de seca e quatro dias de reidrata??o em um delineamento inteiramente casualisado. Os resultados demonstram que o cultivar Diplomata tem uma melhor performance sob condi??es de d?ficit h?drico, apresentando valores de potencial de ?gua de base da folha (?a) maiores que o Ouro negro, nos ?ltimos dias de estresse. A an?lise da fluoresc?ncia da clorofila a demonstrou varia??o estatisticamente significativa entre os cultivares, com o cultivar Diplomata apresentando valores mais altos na maioria das vari?veis analisadas, como: o rendimento qu?ntico efetivo m?ximo do FS II (Fv/Fm), o rendimento qu?ntico efetivo do FS II (?F/F?m) e valores mais baixos no quenching n?o fotoqu?mico (NPQ). Sobre a fotoinibi??o, o gen?tipo Diplomata demonstrou diferen?a significativa com valores mais baixos no s?timo dia de estresse e no segundo dia de reidrata??o, indicando uma maior revers?o dos danos fotoinibit?rios no decorrer do dia. A respeito dos teores de amido, o cultivar Ouro negro apresentou valores significativamente mais altos antes do estresse (AE), mas n?o houve diferen?a significativa entre os gen?tipos, durante o estresse (DE) e na reidrata??o (R). J? em rela??o aos teores de prote?nas sol?veis em folhas, o cultivar Diplomata demonstrou manter valores significativamente maiores (AE) e (R). The aim of the present dissertation constitutes to analyse the way in how light assumes the meaning of universal bond in the cosmovision of Marsilio Ficino, especially from his works Quid sit lumen, De Sole, De Amore and De Vita. The influence of Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) in the history of occidental thought is impressive. Besides having translated to Latin the important texts of the neoplatonic tradition, Ficino presided over the Academy of Careggi, congregating important humanists in the top of the Renaissance. His treatises on love, beauty, light, magic and immortality of the soul have influenced strongly the production of other thinkers. The subject of light is of fundamental importance among his works since it is deeply related with all the other aspects of his philosophy. For him, light is spiritual emanation that perpasses everything without staining itself. Originated how the divine goodness, the light blows up in beauty in multiplicity, setting fire on the soul that truily contemplates it and that identifies whith it. The starting point of this loving relation between man and deity is, therefore, the physical world, that occults in itself the metaphysical light.
O objetivo da presente disserta??o constitui analisar como a luz assume o sentido de v?nculo universal na cosmovis?o de Marsilio Ficino, especialmente a partir de suas obras Quid sit lumen, De Sole, De Amore e De Vita. A influ?ncia de Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) na hist?ria do pensamento ocidental ? impressionante. Al?m de ter traduzido para o latim textos importantes da tradi??o neoplat?nica, Ficino presidiu a Academia de Careggi, reunindo importantes humanistas no auge do Renascimento. Os seus tratados sobre amor, beleza, luz, magia e imortalidade da alma influenciaram marcantemente a produ??o de outros pensadores. O tema da luz ? de import?ncia fundamental em sua obra, pois est? profundamente relacionado com todos os outros aspectos de sua filosofia. Para ele, a luz ? ema??o espiritual que a tudo perpassa, sem se macular. Originada da bondade divina, a luz explode em beleza na multiplicidade, incendiando de amor a alma que verdadeiramente a contempla e que com ela se identifica. Il s’agit dans cette thèse de penser les conditions de possibilité d’une philosophie de l’art à partir d’un examen précis et rigoureux de la production artistique picturale de la Renaissance italienne. Cherchant d’abord à définir une méthode, nous étudions en détail les présupposés de l’iconologie afin d’établir ce qui nous en semble être les limites. Puis, forts de cette analyse, nous en déduisons la nécessité d’une philosophie de l’art qui, loin de se contenter d’une analyse érudite de l’icône, cherche à extraire la signification de l’œuvre à partir de sa forme sensible. Si les pensées de Platon, Hume et Kant nous semblent échouer à proposer pareille démarche, les leçons de Hegel consacrées à l’Esthétique nous offrent un schéma analytique opérant, grâce auquel l’espace, le dessin et le coloris fournissent le lieu même à partir duquel peut surgir le sens. C’est ainsi que les œuvres de Fra Angelico, Botticelli, Léonard de Vinci et Michel-Ange constituent le matériau artistique grâce auquel nous mettons à l’épreuve la pertinence du triptyque espace-dessin-coloris, tel qu’il fut élaboré par Hegel. En outre, ce sont les pensées philosophiques consacrées au lieu, à la lumière ou encore à la couleur que nous convoquons – tant chez Thomas d’Aquin que chez Marsile Ficin, chez Albert le Grand que chez Plotin, chez Aristote que chez Nicolas de Cues – afin de proposer un sens philosophique des œuvres picturales, que ne nous semblent paradoxalement pas pouvoir délivrer les théories de l’art que proposent ces derniers. Chercher le sens philosophique des œuvres à même leur sensibilité et non dans une théorie de l’image, tel est donc le projet essentiel de cette thèse
This thesis discusses the conditions of possibility for a philosophy of art based on a precise and rigorous analysis of the pictorial artistic production of the Italian Renaissance. After attempting at defining a method, the presuppositions of iconology are studied in detail with a view to establishing what appear to be their limits. On the basis of this analysis, the author deduces the need for a philosophy of art which, rather than just carrying out an erudite analysis of the icon, endeavours to extract the meaning of a work of art on the basis of its sensitive shape. While Plato, Hume and Kant’s thoughts seem to fail in proposing such an approach, Hegel’s teachings dedicated to aesthetics offer an operational analytical framework, thanks to which space, drawing and colour provide the very place out of which sense can come into being.Hence the works of Fra Angelico, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo constitute the artistic material out of which the relevance of the space-drawing-colour triptych, as developed by Hegel, is put to the test. Furthermore, reference is made to the philosophical thoughts on space, light and colour – as expressed by authors like Thomas Aquinas, Marsilio Ficino, Albert the Great, Plotinus, Aristotle and Nicholas of Kues – with a view to proposing a philosophical sense of pictorial works of art, which paradoxically the theories of art provided by these authors do not seem able to deliver. It is the fundamental aim of this thesis to look for the philosophical sense of works of art through their own sensitiveness and not through a theory of the image

Cette thèse avance une hypothèse nouvelle à l’énigme du décor de la Galerie François 1er de Fontainebleau, teste son efficacité sur la totalité de ses 16 unités originelles, cadres compris, et argumente la question de sa vraisemblance. Elle repose sur l’analyse de l’unité décrochée de l’extrémité Ouest en 1639, le Bacchus et Vénus de Rosso, aujourd’hui au MNHA de Luxembourg. Ce tableau est un unicum qui relève des mirabilia . Sous le voile d’une scène érotique, il traite de façon sophistiquée un adage récent d’Erasme, ici écourté : sans Bacchus, Vénus se refroidit. Par art de mémoire plastique, il « mémorise » aussi le schéma de la Monarchie céleste, tel que figuré dans la Treschrestienne Cabale metrifiee (1519) de Jean Thenaud et commenté dans son Traicte de la Cabale (1521), deux manuscrits commandés par François 1er . Par trois motifs en bas du tableau, il indique son mode d’emploi discursif qui s’appuie sur Erasme, puis Cues, puis Bonaventure. Enfin, c’est une peinture fabriquée comme les images artificielles irradiantes du De triplici vita de Ficin, mais sans effet magique. Ce tableau est le centre d’un dispositif à la fois intellectuel, matériel, et pratique, qui relie les 16 unités originelles et invite les princes Valois-Angoulême à une réception spécifique pour verbaliser eux-mêmes le programme de discours organisé. La base intellectuelle de ce dispositif est théologique : elle repose sur le verset de saint Paul (1 Co, XIII, 12), et se réfère à Erasme, Cues, et Bonaventure. Sa particularité est de transposer les concepts mentaux de ces penseurs chrétiens à un décor peint et stuqué, et ce, par serio ludere alors très prisé, en termes d’inventions formelles et d’usages inédits des images, pour générer les discours du programme. Parmi ces inventions, la plus remarquable est la pratique plastique de l’art de mémoire suivant ses règles classiques, dans toutes les unités, cadres compris. Le programme expose la vérité du pouvoir de la monarchie-très-chrétienne, par trois analogies spéculaires au pouvoir de la Monarchie céleste. Il définit des valeurs morales princières, mais aussi deux ambitions politiques majeures, le pouvoir absolu et l’accès à l’imperium mundi par de nouveaux arguments. Il forme le « miroir du prince » secret de la nouvelle dynastie Valois-Angoulême. This thesis puts forward a new hypothesis concerning the enigma of the décor of the Francis I Gallery in the royal palace of Fontainebleau, tests whether this hypothesis works for all 16 of its original units, frames included, and considers the question of its likelihood. It is based on an analysis of the unit removed from the western end of the gallery in 1639, Rosso Fiorentino’s Bacchus, Venus and Cupid, now hanging in the MNHA in Luxembourg. This painting is a unicum that falls into the mirabilia category. Behind the erotic scene lies a sophisticated depiction of a recent - here shortened - adage of Erasmus: without Bacchus, Venus grows cold. Using the art of memory, it also “memorises” the paradigm of the heavenly monarchy portrayed in Jean Thenaud’s Treschrestienne Cabale metrifiee (1519) and commented on in his Traicte de la Cabale (1521), two manuscripts commissioned by Francis I. The three motifs at the bottom of the work indicate its discursive modus operandi, drawing on Erasmus, then De Cues, then Bonaventure. It is a painting constructed like the radiant images of Marsilio Ficino’s De triplici vita, but without magical effect. This painting is at the centre of a simultaneously intellectual, material and practical device, linking the 16 original units and inviting a specific reception from the Valois-Angoulême princes so that they can themselves express the organised discursive programme. The intellectual basis of this device is theological in nature: it is founded on the verse of Saint Paul (1 Corinthians 13:12), and refers to Erasmus, De Cues and Bonaventure. It is unique in that it transposes the mental concepts of these Christian thinkers to a painted, stuccoed décor, following the serio ludere maxim, very popular at the time, in terms of formal inventions and original use of images to generate the programme’s rhetoric. The most remarkable of these inventions is the plastic practice of the art of memory, following its classic rules, in all the units, including the frames. The programme exposes the truth of the power of the very-Christian monarchy, via three analogies to the power of the heavenly Monarchy. It defines princely values, as well as two major political ambitions, absolute power and access to the imperium mundi using new arguments. It forms the secrete “mirror for the prince” of the new Valois-Angoulême dynasty. This “mirror” also cites the “theatre” of Giulio Camillo bought by the King in 1530 and illuminates its enigmatic function. We propose Jean Thenaud, supported by Rosso, as the creators

As iniciativas de integra??o regional latino-americanas podem ser classificadas em duas categorias: o regionalismo hegem?nico e o regionalismo contra-hegem?nico. O regionalismo hegem?nico leva essa terminologia devido ? hegemonia dos Estados Unidos da Am?rica (EUA) nas iniciativas regionais. Algumas iniciativas hegem?nicas s?o: a ?rea de Livre Com?rcio das Am?ricas (ALCA) e a Alian?a do Pac?fico (AP). O regionalismo contrahegem?nico caracteriza-se pela cria??o de iniciativas com menor ou sem interfer?ncia estadunidense, tanto no ?mbito pol?tico, quanto no ?mbito econ?mico. As iniciativas contrahegem?nicas s?o: a Alian?a Bolivariana para os Povos da Nossa Am?rica (ALBA), a Uni?o de Na??es Sul-americanas (UNASUL) e a Comunidade de Estados Latino-americanos e Caribenhos (CELAC). O Mercado Comum do Sul (MERCOSUL) ? uma iniciativa regional h?brida, que n?o se adequa nem ao regionalismo hegem?nico e nem ao contra-hegem?nico. Dentro da ALBA, do MERCOSUL e da UNASUL foram criados, respectivamente, o Conselho de Movimentos Sociais da ALBA (CMS), a Unidade de Apoio ? Participa??o Social (UPS) e o Foro de Participa??o Cidad? da UNASUL (FPC), para que a democracia dos povos seja consolidada e aprofundada. No ?mbito da CELAC, em protesto pela aus?ncia da participa??o cidad?, realizou-se o Encontro Social pela P?tria Grande. Al?m das tr?s propostas ?participativas?, analisam-se tamb?m os quatro parlamentos regionais latino-americanos: o Parlamento Andino (Parlandino), o Parlamento Centro-americano (Parlacen), o Parlamento do MERCOSUL (Parlasul) e o Parlamento Latino-americano (Parlatino). Apesar de surgirem com tal finalidade, pairam d?vidas se as propostas e os parlamentos s?o democr?ticos, indagando-se: qual o espa?o da democracia na integra??o regional latino-americana?. Este trabalho visa compreender as iniciativas regionais latino-americanas, no que tange ? democracia. Os objetivos espec?ficos s?o verificar o andamento das a??es dentro das propostas CMS, UPS e FPC (c?pulas, f?runs, oficinas) e dos parlamentos regionais e conectar as tem?ticas de estudo da democracia e do regionalismo latino-americano. Questa tesi di dottorato si concentra sul commento al “Parmenide” di Marsilio Ficino, opera risalente agli anni 90 del quindicesimo secolo. La ricerca parte da una ricostruzione del contesto storico, politico e culturale entro cui matura il lavoro del filosofo; prende poi ad esaminare puntualmente il commento. Lo snodo centrale della ricerca è costituto dall’analisi e dalla disamina del confronto tra le tesi del Ficino e quelle esposte da Pico della Mirandola nella sua opera De Ente et Uno. La tesi riconosce come per Ficino l’Uno sia principio sovraessenziale, mentre per Pico l’Uno è l’uno della cosa. Questo dà luogo a due diverse visioni: per Ficino l’Uno rimane inesprimibile, mentre per Pico l’uno è tale solo nella sua espressione. Marsilio intende così salvaguardare l’assolutezza del divino, rifondando sulle basi della filosofia platonica la dottrina cristiana. Nella sua filosofia, difatti, si mostra l’aggiunta di una componente sovrarazionale ad una esclusivamente razionale. La pia philosophia del Ficino intende proprio mostrare la possibilità, per l’uomo, di tornare a Dio come al suo Principio – ed è in questo senso che la ricerca lo mostra, prima ancora che come un filosofo, come un riformatore teologico.[a cura dell'autore]

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with the role of Filin music in processes of social and political change. It examines how Filin, a style of Cuban urban folk music that developed in Havana in the 1940s and 50s, was constitutive of the historical context in which it developed and consequently, how Filineros expressed their social realities in their songs. Many Filineros were associated with leftist organizations such as the People’s Socialist Party, workers’ unions, and with underground activism. They lived in times of political upheaval and widespread mobilization preceding the Revolution of 1959. However, their songs’ lyrics seem to ignore Filineros’ political lives, and focus solely on romance and the intimacy of love. This thesis addresses this paradox: Why does there seem to be such a disjuncture between Filineros’ affiliative and oppositional activities and their romantic and self-contained lyrics? Drawing from Filineros memories, this paper explains Filin lyrics’ detachment from the oppositional mobilization the musicians were involved in. First, the repression against communism that followed the post-WWII years in Cuba prevented Filineros from openly expressing their leftist views and activist experiences in their songs’ lyrics. Secondly, Filineros understood Filin as a creative outlet and artistic experience, and not as an instrument for political opposition. Thirdly, some of the Filin musicians interviewed believed that music was impotent to create substantial social or political change. Nevertheless, beyond Filineros’ worldview, I argue that Filin songs not only carry aesthetic meaning as expressions of human emotions, but that the practice of Filin constituted them as political actors. Filin gatherings’ sequential participatory features, and consequently, Filin's functions as social entertainer and artistic unifier highlight this music’s agency; Filin's uniting power as a musical movement promoted a sense of affiliation among Filineros in which political practices and ideologies were shaped and solidified. In other words, it is through music making that Filineros’ ideas, values and ways of life were stimulated and mobilized. As such, Filin music was constitutive of new political identities, and constructed its political relevance more through the context of lived experience than through its musicological traits, its lyrics, or even its musicians’ intentions.

The thesis arises from the critical proposal to consider Marsilio Ficino’s Epistolae as the philosopher’s favourite place for the discussion of the main themes of his speculation. Ficino’s preference for the short-treatise form makes this work a huge resource for the scholars; however, what is proposed here is a hermeneutical hypothesis based on the theory of knowledge emerging from his Letters. Knowledge has a decisive role in Ficino’s epistolary project of the diffusion of a renewed Platonism: it is, on one hand, the most suitable instrument for the analysis of human condition and, on the other, the only medium for the elevation of man to the divine. The thesis consists of three chapters: the first, which serves as an introduction, deals with some philological problems about the complex nature of the Epistolarium, mostly with the genre of letter-treatise that, although it is present in all the twelve books, it is exclusive of the second. Therefore, the main thematic nuclei of the so-called Opuscula theologica are examined, which are useful hermeneutical tools for the continuation of the work. Finally, I have proposed an interpretation founded on the peculiar relationship between contemplative and active life in order to better understand the arguments of the next chapters. The second chapter discusses two core themes of Ficino’s theory of knowledge: anthropology and psychology. About the former, I present the letters that the philosopher addresses «to Mankind»: from these, what arises is a picture of man who is always suspended between the misery of his temporal condition and the deification as his highest aspiration, after the discovery and knowledge of the self. Ficino, ideally addressing the human race, succeeds to express the exhortation to the highest virtue of humanity, at the same time the means and ends of the highest achievement of man. The latter, however, becomes possible only by the special nature of the human soul which is the subject of analysis of the next section: the epistles on the soul are studied by comparing with the Platonic Theology on the Immortality of Souls, showing similarities and 2 differences. The question of the relation between the multiplicity of the powers of the soul and its unity is followed by that about the intellect and the will in the fruition of the highest Good. This is a recurrent and apparently contradictory theme in the Epistolarium, which I discuss on the base of recent studies. The third chapter concerns the faculties of knowledge involved in the cognitive path offered in the letters. The first section talks about the ambiguous function of the two powers of phantasy and imagination, about which I explain not only the terminological difference, but also the different nature: the deceptive imagination, that is responsible for the illusory manifestation of reality, opposing the phantasy, that “translates” intellectual contents in order to make them comprehensible by the reason. The second section deals with the question of the production of true knowledge and the role of the reason and the intellect. From the problematic nature of human intellectus and the results of the second chapter, through an analysis of Platonic sources, I propose a form of human knowledge based both on dianoetic rational process and on intuition of the highest part of mens. In this way, one is able to give meaning to all the highest forms of knowledge throughout the work: divine frenzy, vacatio animae and prophecy. Although these seem “altered” states of consciousness related to each other, they reflect the evolution of Ficino’s philosophy. Following the progress of the first theme from the De divino furore to the last letters and the Commentaries on Plato’s dialogues (Symposium, Phaedrus and Ion), it is possible to get both the philosopher’s attempt to be close to the source and the problematic assimilation to the Pauline raptus that he proposes. The argument on the septem vacationis genera in the thirteenth book of Platonic Theology becomes the looking-glass through which one can interpret dreams, previsions, miracles found in the Letters. In the end, through the study of the Neoplatonic sources and the Savonarolan thinking, I discuss the theme of prophetic knowledge that is on the boundaries between a divine gift and a natural power of the soul. From Ficino’s Epistolae, what results is a very complex picture of man, an actual doublefaced Janus, who is always turned to the knowledge of God but is often hindered by the anxiety and restlessness of this life. Furthermore, the reading of the letters in relation to philosopher’s other works, is a valid instrument for the reconstruction of his thinking. The thesis presents an Appendix with the text and the Italian translation of the most important letters in order to better comprehend the hermeneutical proposal of this work. In conclusion, there is a wide bibliography of the sources and the examined critical studies. [edited by Author]

Parte desse interesse se compreende pelo mistério que guarda sua própria definição, ambivalente e fascinante, que se refere à melancolia ora como um estado de desequilíbrio doentio, ora como pecado a ser punido, ora como estado da alma que exalta a genialidade. Na história das artes, a melancolia sempre determinou uma iconografia à parte, desde a antiguidade clássica. Este trabalho trata então, da melancolia abordada por um artista em particular, em uma época específica. Tendo como ponto essencial o estudo e a interpretação da gravura “Melencolia I”, de Albrecht Dürer, este trabalho privilegiará não apenas as características formais desta obra, mas as várias possibilidades e conexões que a mesma possui com o tempo e lugar onde foi produzida, principalmente a filosofia neoplatônica de Marsilio Ficino. Percorrendo além dos limites estreitos de uma leitura puramente formalista, a pesquisa considera a obra de arte como uma relação complexa e ativa aos acontecimentos da história circundante, pensando em sua análise iconográfica como um instrumento de reconstrução do indivíduo, do ambiente, da história geral.
The topic of melancholy has been a source of attention from philosophers, doctors, artists, historians, thinkers in various fields of knowledge, since time immemorial. Part of this interest to understand the mystery that keeps its own definition, ambivalent and fascinating, which is sometimes referred to melancholy as a state of imbalance sick, sometimes as sin to be punished either as a state that exalts the soul of genius. In the history of the arts, the melancholy always the part of an iconography from ancient classic. This work is then addressed by melancholy of an artist in particular, in a specific time. With the key point the study and interpretation of the engraving "Melencolia I", by Albrecht Dürer, this work focus not only the formal characteristics of this work, but the various possibilities and connections that it has the time and place where it was produced, mainly Neo-Platonist the philosophy of Marsilio Ficin. Traveling beyond the narrow confines of a purely formalist reading, the study considers the work of art as an active and complex relationship to the events surrounding the story, thinking about his iconographic analysis as a tool for reconstruction of the individual, the environment, the general history.

Malnutrition is one of the most important and common condition among the elderly that negatively affects health and quality of life. With ageing, the loss of weight is an expected physiological process. However, in the presence of dementia, the weight loss is involuntary and the risk of malnutrition becomes imminent. The risk of malnutrition may be present even before clinical diagnosis of mental illness. Some studies suggest that an alteration in the nutritional status might appear as a predictor of severity and progression of cognitive decline. The present study aimed to investigate the independent association of malnutrition risk with depressive symptoms, memory deficit or dementia in older adults. This is a cross-sectional population-based study that 176 participants aged 60 years and older were evaluated for nutritional risk, depressive symptoms, cognitive function. Data was collected from structured interviews and assessments in the participants homes and in the hospital for trained staff. The Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA?) was used to assess the risk of malnutrition. Depressive symptoms were screened using the short version of Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15). For the cognitive assessment a board of certified neurologists, psychiatrists and neuropsychologists used validated tests combined with golden standard clinical criteria. Cognitive assessment was taken using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), word list memory and constructional praxis from the standard neuropsychological battery of Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer s Disease (CERAD), and Wechsler verbal and logical memory test. The functional status was evaluated using the Katz Index and Pfeffer Scale. The clinical diagnosis of dementia was based on the recommendations from the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer s Association workgroups on diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer s disease. The results showed that means variations of malnutrition risk were significantly different (P<.001) comparing elderly considered normal (26.9?2.8) with those with depressive symptoms (25.0?3.5), memory deficit (25.5?3.8), memory deficit plus depressive symptoms (24.0?3.3) and dementia (21.9?5.9). A multivariate analysis model with a robust estimation of Prevalence Ratios (PR) using the Poisson regression demonstrated that dementia (PR:14.006, P<.001), memory deficit plus depressive symptoms (PR:5.759, P=.003), depressive symptoms (PR:5.350, P=.014); memory deficit (PR:3.338, P=.046), and 70-79 years age group (PR:0.457, P=.031) were independent factors associated with malnutrition risk. These results were controlled for gender, marital status, educational level and income. In conclusion, the most important finding was the independent relationship with memory deficit and malnutrition risk. These results suggest that nutritional disturbances may start earlier than previously expected by others studies. None study detected malnutrition risk combining objective measurements of precocious memory impairment with careful observance of depressive symptoms in a robust controlled analysis.

Com o envelhecimento, a perda de peso faz parte de um processo fisiol?gico normal. Entretanto, na presen?a de quadro demencial, a perda ponderal ? involunt?ria e o risco de desnutri??o tornase iminente. O risco de desnutri??o pode estar presente mesmo antes do diagn?stico cl?nico de doen?a mental. Alguns estudos sugerem que a altera??o do estado nutricional pode aparecer como preditor de severidade e progress?o de decl?nio cognitivo. O presente estudo objetivou investigar a associa??o independente do risco de desnutri??o com sintomas depressivos, d?ficit de mem?ria e dem?ncia em idosos. Este ? um estudo populacional transversal em que 176 participantes com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos foram avaliados em rela??o ao risco nutricional, sintomas depressivos e fun??o cognitiva. Os dados foram coletados a partir de entrevista estruturada no domic?lio dos participantes e avalia??es realizadas no hospital por equipe treinada. A Mini Avalia??o Nutricional (MAN?) foi utilizada para avaliar o risco de desnutri??o. Sintomas depressivos foram rastreados atrav?s da vers?o reduzida da Escala de Depress?o Geri?trica (EDG-15). Para a avalia??o cognitiva, uma equipe de neurologistas, psiquiatras e neuropsic?logos utilizaram a combina??o de testes validados. A avalia??o cognitiva foi verificada atrav?s do Mini- Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), lista de palavras e praxia construtiva do Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer s Disease (CERAD) e o teste de mem?ria verbal e l?gica de Wechesler. O estado funcional foi avaliado atrav?s do ?ndice de Katz e Escala de Pfeffer. O diagn?stico cl?nico de dem?ncia foi baseado nas recomenda??es do National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer s Association workgroups on diagnostic guidelines for Alzheimer s disease. Os resultados demonstraram que as varia??es entre as m?dias de risco de desnutri??o foram significativamente diferentes (P<.001), comparando idosos considerados normais (26,9?2,8) com os que apresentavam sintomas depressivos (25,0?3,5), d?ficit de mem?ria (25,5?3,8), d?ficit de mem?ria somado a sintomas depressivos (24,0?3,3) e dem?ncia (21,9?5,9). This study aimed at evaluating the relationship between stress and maternal parental style in the stress of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The participants 25 mothers and their children, with a mean age of 9.4 years, most of the participating children were boys. The children were assessed by the Child Stress Scale and mothers by Lipp Stress Symptoms Inventory for Adults and Parental Styles Inventory. The results indicated a high level of stress in this sample, since 72% of mothers and children also exhibited symptoms of excessive stress. Among mothers with stress, 60% were in the resistance stage with the prevalence of 72% of psychological symptoms. With regard to children, 36% were in the resistance stage of which 47% presented predominance of psychological symptoms. Regarding the classification of parental style, there was a predominance of at-risk style followed by regular, good and optimum styles, being that 81% of mothers who had at-risk parental style also showed symptoms of stress. This result is independent of the subtype of ADHD. The largest number of children with symptoms of stress is from the combined subtype, followed by hyperactive children, while stress seems to reach fewer children of the inattentive subtype. A significant association was found between subtype of ADHD and type of symptoms of maternal stress (p=0009) indicating that the inattention condition is less stressful for mothers who have fewer stress symptoms. It was found that mothers of inattentive children had more psychological than physical symptoms. The opposite occurred with mothers of hyperactive children in that they showed symptoms of stress with the predominance of physical symptoms. The results indicate a difference in symptoms of maternal stress as a function of subtype of ADHD. Another important result refers to the intensity of the symptoms of children stress in that stress seems to enhance the symptoms of attentional difficulties. It was concluded that this population has a high level of stress, the prevalent parental style can be classified as at-risk, and that the symptomatology of maternal stress is related to the subtype of ADHD. Another conclusion is that symptoms of inattention are potentiated by excessive tension. Thus it is believed that programs that enable mothers and children to manage stress can bring great benefits to their quality of life, by minimizing the symptoms of inattention and increase the use of positive parental practices.
Este estudo avaliou a rela??o entre stress e estilo parental materno no stress dos filhos com Transtorno de D?ficit de Aten??o e Hiperatividade (TDAH). Participaram desta pesquisa 25 m?es e seus respectivos filhos, com m?dia de idade de 9.4 anos, sendo que maioria das crian?as participantes foram meninos. As crian?as foram avaliadas pela Escala de Stress Infantil e as m?es pelo Invent?rio de Sintomas de Stress para Adulto e Invent?rio de Estilos Parentais. Os resultados indicaram um alto ?ndice de stress nesta amostra, pois 72% das m?es e tamb?m das crian?as apresentaram sintomas de tens?o excessiva. Entre as m?es com stress, 60% estavam na fase de resist?ncia com a preval?ncia de 72% de sintomas psicol?gicos. No que se refere ?s crian?as, 36% estavam na fase de resist?ncia sendo que 47% apresentavam predomin?ncia dos sintomas psicol?gicos. Quanto ? classifica??o do estilo parental, houve predom?nio do estilo parental de risco seguido pelos estilos regular, bom e ?timo, sendo que 81% das m?es que possu?am estilo parental de risco tamb?m apresentaram sintomas de stress. Este resultado independe do subtipo de TDAH. O maior n?mero de crian?as com sintomas de stress ? do subtipo combinado, seguido pelas crian?as hiperativas, enquanto o stress parece atingir menos as crian?as do subtipo desatento. Encontrou-se uma associa??o significativa entre subtipo de TDAH e tipo de sintoma de stress materno (p=0009) indicando que a desaten??o ? uma condi??o menos estressante para as m?es com filhos desatentos as quais apresentavam um n?mero menor de sintomas de stress e de natureza psicol?gica. J? com as m?es de crian?as hiperativas, ocorria o oposto, todas as m?es apresentaram sintomas de stress com predomin?ncia dos sintomas f?sicos. Deste modo os resultados indicam uma diferencia??o nos sintomas do stress materno em fun??o do subtipo do TDAH. Outro resultado importante refere-se ? intensidade dos sintomas do stress infantil. Observou-se um dado significativo (p= 0.001) de que o stress potencializa os sintomas de dificuldades atencionais. Conclui-se que esta popula??o apresenta alto n?vel de stress, estilo parental classificado como de risco, que a sintomatologia do stress materno tem rela??o com o subtipo de TDAH e que e os sintomas de desaten??o s?o potencializados pela tens?o excessiva. Deste modo acredita-se que programas que instrumentalizem as m?es e as crian?as a lidarem com o stress possam trazer grandes benef?cios para a qualidade de vida destas pessoas, atrav?s da minimiza??o dos sintomas de desaten??o e aumento da utiliza??o de pr?ticas parentais positivas.

Um dos objectivos do desenvolvimento de implantes ósseos é a resolução de fracturas, tornando, novamente, o membro funcional. Para tal, os implantes necessitam de auxiliar os tecidos a recuperar a sua integridade biológica e mecânica. As placas bloqueadas têm vindo a ser introduzidas no material ortopédico do cirurgião veterinário para técnicas de osteossíntese. Se por um lado as placas convencionais têm como objectivo obter o máximo de estabilidade através de uma placa rígida e de compressão dos fragmentos, por outro, as placas bloqueadas permitem manter uma certa elasticidade. Este parâmetro, em combinação com o principal objectivo das placas bloqueadas, que é a preservação da vascularização e dos tecidos moles que envolvem a fractura, promovem a formação de calo ósseo e por consequência, uma cicatrização óssea indirecta. O sistema Fixin® diferencia-se pela utilização de uma bucha nos orifícios, que realiza uma ligação cónica aos parafusos. A própria bucha permite a utilização de placas mais finas e facilita a alteração e remoção do implante do osso. Este estudo retrospectivo, teve como objectivo a caracterização da aplicação de placas bloqueadas, pertencentes ao sistema Fixin®, numa população de vinte e sete indivíduos, vinte e seis pertencentes à espécie Canis familiaris e um à espécie Felis catus, no Hospital Escolar Veterinário da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária da Universidade de Lisboa. Para cada paciente, foi caracterizada a fractura e o implante utilizado, registando-se, no período pós-cirúrgico, o resultado clínico, o resultado radiográfico e, em caso de ocorrência, complicações. No final, todos os pacientes apresentaram-se a apoiar o membro, nenhum com sinais de dor e apenas um apresentou sinais de claudicação. A totalidade dos casos que se apresentaram a exame radiográfico (n=13), demonstraram união óssea. Complicações maiores foram observadas em sete fracturas (26%). Após a realização de um inquérito aos proprietários, 87% demonstraram-se muito satisfeitos com o resultado cirúrgico. Apesar de, neste estudo, ter ocorrido um valor moderado de complicações, as placas Fixin® demonstraram ser um sistema de osteossíntese aceitável, apresentando-se como uma escolha com potencial para a resolução de fracturas apendiculares.
ABSTRACT - Characterization of Fixin® locking plates application in the management of appendicular fractures in dogs - One purpose of the development of bone implants is fractures resolution, making the limb functional again. With that in mind, implants need to assist the recover of the tissues biological and mechanical integrity. In recent years, locking plates have been introduced in the veterinary surgeon orthopedic material for osteosynthesis techniques. If on one hand, conventional plates are designed to get maximum stability through a stiff plate and compression of the fragments, on the other, locking plates allow to keep a certain elasticity. Elasticity, combined with the main purpose of the locking plates, which is the preservation of the vasculature and soft tissues surrounding the fracture, promote callus formation and, therefore, an indirect bone healing. The Fixin® system is distinguished by the use of bushing-inserts in the holes, which are conically shaped to engage and secure the head of the screw. Bushing-inserts allow the use of thinner plates and facilitate modifications and implants removals. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the use of locking plates, belonging to the Fixin® system, in a population of twenty seven individuals, twenty six belonging to Canis familiaris and one Felis catus, from de Hospital Escolar Veterinário from Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária of Universidade de Lisboa. For each patient, data pertaining to the fracture and the implants used, were recorded. Postoperatively, the clinical and radiographic outcomes and complications were analyzed. In the end, limb support was demonstrated by all patients, with no signs of pain and a single case of lameness was recorded. All the patients who were submitted to radiographic evaluations (n=13), showed bone union. Major complications were seen in seven fractures (26%). Eighty seven percent of the owners were very pleased with the surgical outcome. Despite of a modest complications rate, the Fixin® locking plates have demonstrated to be an acceptable osteosynthesis system and thus a potential choice of implant for stabilization of appendicular fractures.

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most prevalent neuropsychiatric disorders among children. Although the clinical presentation and treatment of ADHD are well established, its etiology is not yet known. Recent functional neuroimaging techniques may help increase knowledge about the pathophysiology of the disorder, allowing for the empirical testing of theoretical hypotheses on brain networks in ADHD. In this study, we analyzed a group of 23 treatment na?ve boys with ADHD, aged between 8 and 10 years old, who underwent a protocol of resting-state functional magnetic imaging before and after six months of treatment with methylphenidate. Analyses of functional connectivity were performed between regions of interest (seeds) placed within the default mode network (DMN). Subsequently, changes in the DMN connectivity before and after treatment were investigated with an independent component analysis (ICA). Results of the seeds analysis showed no significant changes in connectivity between regions of the DMN following treatment, with a relatively small increase in the anterior-posterior connectivity of the network. The ICA revealed a significant increase in the connectivity between the left putamen and the DMN (p <0.01, corrected). There was also a positive correlation between the decrease of symptoms and the connectivity between the putamen and the DMN after treatment (rho = 0.65, p = 0.17). These findings indicate that treatment with methylphenidate modifies the connectivity between the DMN and subcortical nuclei. Dysfunctions in corticalsubcortical circuits have often been associated with the pathophysiology of ADHD. The effect of treatment with methylphenidate may in part be associated with elevated dopamine levels in subcortical nuclei, modulating its connectivity with the DMN.
O transtorno de d?ficit de aten??o/hiperatividade (TDAH) ? um dos transtornos neuropsiqui?tricos mais prevalentes entre crian?as. Embora a apresenta??o cl?nica e o tratamento do TDAH estejam bem estabelecidos, suas causas ainda n?o s?o conhecidas. T?cnicas recentes de neuroimagem funcional podem ampliar o conhecimento acerca da fisiopatologia do transtorno, permitindo a testagem emp?rica de hip?teses conceituais sobre o funcionamento de redes cerebrais no TDAH. Neste trabalho, analisamos um grupo de 23 meninos com diagn?stico de TDAH, com idades entre 8 e 10 anos, virgens de tratamento, que foram submetidos a um protocolo de resson?ncia funcional de repouso antes e ap?s seis meses de tratamento com metilfenidato. Foram realizadas an?lises de conectividade funcional entre regi?es de interesse (seeds) demarcadas sobre ?reas da rede default mode network (DMN). Posteriormente, a conectividade da DMN antes e ap?s o tratamento foi mapeada atrav?s de uma an?lise de componentes independentes (ICA, independent component analysis). Os resultados da an?lise de seeds n?o demonstraram modifica??es significativas na conectividade entre regi?es da DMN com o tratamento, havendo apenas um pequeno aumento da conectividade ?ntero-posterior da rede. A an?lise por ICA revelou um aumento significativo de conectividade da DMN com o put?men esquerdo (p<0,01 corrigido). Observou-se ainda uma correla??o positiva entre a redu??o dos sintomas e a conectividade entre o put?men e a DMN ap?s o tratamento (rho=0,65, p=0,17). Esses achados indicam que o tratamento com metilfenidato modifica a conectividade entre a DMN e n?cleos subcorticais. Disfun??es em circuitos corticosubcorticais foram frequentemente associados ? fisiopatologia do TDAH. The main objective of this report was to identify how the teacher defines the Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity(AD/H). The data collected through questionnaire elaborated specifically for this report had been analyzed in a qualitative form, giving not only the definition of AD/H, but also data about the practice of each teacher who was heard in this research. The report showed that the concept defined for the teachers is not far from the used scientific definitions. The information about the teachers practice is that the difficulty of work with the pupils AD/H exists and it is related to the lack of structure and technician support offered by the schools, mainly the public schools. Professional help from psychologists is what is considered a technician support. Besides that, this support, offered or not by the school, was showed that the work of the psychologist is believed to be what provides the solution of all problems in the classroom, therefore that only this professional can help to include the pupil with AD/H, as if it was possible to with hold the school and the family responsibility of work together as a group to achieve the goal.
O principal objetivo deste estudo foi identificar como o professor conceitua o D?ficit de Aten??o/ Hiperatividade(DA/H). Os dados, coletados atrav?s de question?rio elaborado especificamente para este estudo, foram analisados de forma qualitativa, fornecendo al?m da defini??o sobre o DA/H, dados sobre a pr?tica docente de cada professora ouvida nesta pesquisa. O estudo mostrou que o conceito definido pelas professoras n?o se distancia das defini??es cient?ficas utilizadas. Quanto ? pr?tica docente os dados informaram que existe a dificuldade de trabalho com os alunos com DA/H que se relaciona com a falta de estrutura e apoio t?cnico oferecidos pelas redes de ensino, principalmente a rede estadual, fazendo com que as professoras n?o encontrem formas de solucionar essas dificuldades. Por apoio t?cnico, entende-se atendimento profissional de psic?logos. Ainda com rela??o a este apoio, oferecido ou n?o pelas redes de ensino, a pesquisa revelou que existe a cren?a de que o trabalho do psic?logo ? que pode proporcionar a solu??o dos problemas existentes na sala de aula, ou seja, que este profissional sozinho pode ajudar na inclus?o do aluno com DA/H, como se fosse poss?vel isentar a escola e a fam?lia do trabalho conjunto para esse fim.

Os diálogos escritos por Leão Hebreu no século XVI evidenciam como o tema amor foi objeto de contemplação filosófica no período e trazem diversas reflexões, citações, referências e amplificações de autores da Antiguidade Clássica, tanto Ocidentais como Orientais. Sobressaem Platão e Aristóteles, pois Leão Hebreu frequentemente os insere nas discussões promovidas pelas personagens Fílon e Sofia, utilizando-os como base para a construção de suas argumentações a respeito de diversos temas adjacentes ao principal. Serão discutidos os papéis dos dois filósofos gregos nos Diálogos de Amor, e para tanto, deverá ser adicionado à leitura do texto de Hebreu um outro filósofo do mesmo período: Marsílio Ficino, que possivelmente influenciou os trabalhos do primeiro, mediante as traduções que fez de alguns diálogos platônicos, a partir do testemunho latino de tais obras, no século XV. Interessa também que sejam debatidas questões referentes às especificidades que o tema amor toma ao longo da obra, mostrando de que maneira os interlocutores acreditam ser o amor a motivação, a manutenção e o fim de todas as coisas.
The dialogues written by Leone Ebreo in the 16º century evidence how the theme love was an object of philosophical contemplation at the period, and take many from Classical Antiquity authors reflections, citations, references and amplifications, as well from Occident, as much from Orient. Protrude Plato and Aristotle, for Leone Ebreo often inserts them on the discussions promoted by the characters Filo and Sophia, and use their writes as a base for the argumentations about lots of themes adjoin to the main theme. The discussions on this work will be about this two Greek philosophers on the Dialogues of Love and for this much will be add to the reading of the Leo, The Hebrews works another philosopher from the same period: Marsilio Ficino, who possibly influenced Leos works, through translations he made of some platonic dialogues, from the Latin testimony of this works at the 15º century. It is interesting to this work to discuss questions about the specifications that the theme love takes during the Dialogues, and shows how the interlocutors believe that the love is the motivation, maintenance and the end of everything.

Atualmente, devido as limita??es de expans?o das tradicionais ?reas de plantio de eucalipto, v?rios grupos de pesquisa t?m buscado estrat?gias para ampliar as fronteiras florestais brasileiras. Entretanto, a baixa disponibilidade h?drica dessas regi?es fronteiri?as tem limitado o desenvolvimento de alguns gen?tipos de eucalipto. ? vista disso, objetivou-se: i) avaliar as respostas morfofisiol?gicas de dois gen?tipos de eucalipto contrastantes quanto ? suas capacidades de tolerar o d?ficit h?drico e ii) construir uma biblioteca g?nica diferencial do gen?tipo tolerante ? seca, de maneira a possibilitar ? compreens?o dos mecanismos subjacentes ? toler?ncia ao d?ficit h?drico do ponto de vista gen?tico-molecular. O experimento foi conduzido, em casa de vegeta??o na UFVJM, em Diamantina, MG. As plantas dos dois gen?tipos, clones 953 (Eucalyptus camaldulensis vs. Eucalyptus grandis) e 224 (Eucalyptus grandis vs. Eucalyptus urophylla), modelo de toler?ncia e sensibilidade ao d?ficit h?drico, respectivamente, foram aclimatadas em casa de sombra, com irriga??o, durante 30 dias. Ap?s esse per?odo, foram submetidos a dois diferentes regimes h?dricos (irrigado e n?o irrigado), quando, ent?o, foram avaliados, ao longo do per?odo experimental, o crescimento em altura e di?metro, ?rea foliar, ?ndice de clorofila total, vari?veis da fluoresc?ncia da clorofila a, vari?veis de trocas gasosas, mat?ria seca de todos os compartimentos da planta e suas rela??es derivadas (rela??o mat?ria seca raiz e parte a?rea, raz?o de massa foliar, ?rea foliar espec?fica e raz?o de ?rea foliar), al?m da sintomatologia do estresse. O experimento foi conduzido em um Delineamento Inteiramente Casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2 (gen?tipos) x 2 (regimes h?dricos), totalizando quatro tratamentos (25 repeti??es cada). As an?lises estat?sticas foram realizadas mediante an?lise de vari?ncia. Para o estudo da express?o g?nica, concomitantemente a aplica??o do estresse h?drico, folhas foram coletadas, congeladas em N2 l?quido e armazenadas a - 80 ?C. Em seguida, procedeu-se com as extra??es e purifica??es do RNA total e, posterior, constru??o da biblioteca subtrativa. A defici?ncia h?drica n?o limitou o crescimento em altura dos gen?tipos estudados, embora, tenha reduzido o di?metro e a produ??o de mat?ria seca total. As demais vari?veis morfofisiol?gicas e todas as vari?veis de trocas gasosas foram negativamente afetadas pelo d?ficit h?drico. O clone 224 mostrou-se menos eficiente em termos fotossint?ticos e mais sens?vel ? restri??o h?drica para a maioria das vari?veis analisadas. Em contrapartida, o 953 apresentou maior toler?ncia ? falta d'?gua. Possivelmente, ?rea foliar reduzida, aumentos no teor de clorofila e aparelho fotossint?tico mais eficiente podem ter sido determinantes nessa maior toler?ncia encontrada no clone 953. Essas estrat?gias, podem, portanto, serem alvos em programas de sele??o de materiais gen?ticos mais tolerantes ? seca. Nesse sentido, a efici?ncia qu?ntica do Fotossistema II mostrou-se uma caracter?stica a ser considerada num processo de sele??o para toler?ncia ? falta d'?gua. ABSTRACT Currently, due to the limitations of expanding areas traditional of eucalyptus, several research groups have pursued strategies to expand the boundaries Brazilian forest. However, the low water availability of these border regions has limited the development of some genotypes of eucalyptus. Therefore, we aimed to: i) evaluate the morphological and physiological responses of two contrasting genotypes of eucalyptus as to their ability to tolerate drought and ii) build a library differential gene genotype drought tolerant, in order to enable the understanding molecular mechanisms underlying tolerance to water deficit. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at UFVJM in Diamantina, MG. The plants of the two genotypes, 953 clones (Eucalyptus camaldulensis vs. Eucalyptus grandis) and 224 (Eucalyptus grandis vs Eucalyptus urophylla) model of tolerance and sensitivity to water stress, respectively, were acclimated in the shade, irrigated for 30 days. After this period, underwent two different water regimes (irrigated and non-irrigated), when then were evaluated over the experimental period, the growth in height and diameter, leaf area, total chlorophyll index, chlorophyll a fluorescence variables, gas exchange variables, dry matter of all plant parts and their relations derived (shoot/root dry weight ratios, leaf weight ratio, specific leaf area and leaf area ratio) and the symptoms of stress. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design in a factorial 2 (genotypes) x 2 (water regimes), totaling four treatments (25 replicates each). Statistical analyzes were performed by analysis of variance. For the study of gene expression, concomitant application of water stress, leaves were collected, frozen in liquid N2 and stored at - 80 ?C. Then proceeded with the extraction and purification of total RNA and subsequent construction of the subtractive library. Water stress did not limit the growth in height of the genotypes studied, although it reduced the diameter and total dry matter production. The other morphophysiological variables and all gas exchange variables were negatively affected by drought. Clone 224 was less efficient photosynthetic and more sensitive to water restriction for most variables. In contrast, the 953 was more tolerant to lack of water. Possibly, reduced leaf area, increases in chlorophyll content and photosynthetic apparatus more efficient may have been determinant to increase tolerance found in clone 953. These strategies can be targeted in selection programs of genetic materials more drought tolerant. In this sense, the quantum efficiency of Photosystem II showed a characteristic to be considered in the selection process for tolerance to water shortage. A cDNA library constructed will allow to identify which genes are involved in the process of tolerance on the genotype 953. In the future, these candidate genes may be transferred to genotypes of economic interest through transgenesis.

Evidências clínicas e epidemiológicas apontam a hipercolesterolemia, particularmente a hipercolesterolemia familiar, como um fator de risco para o desenvolvimento de comprometimento cognitivo leve, um estágio de transição entre o envelhecimento saudável e os primeiros sintomas da doença de Alzheimer. A hipercolesterolemia familiar é uma doença genética do metabolismo das lipoproteínas, caracterizada por níveis muito elevados de colesterol plasmático que levam à aterosclerose prematura, em consequência do prejuízo da função do receptor de lipoproteína de baixa densidade (LDL). Nesse contexto, nosso grupo de pesquisa demonstrou que camundongos nocautes para o receptor de LDL (LDLr-/-), modelo de hipercolesterolemia familiar, exibem prejuízos de memória e aprendizado, associados à disfunção colinérgica e ao estresse oxidativo no córtex préfrontal e hipocampo. Desde a atribuição do Paradoxo Francês, os polifenóis presentes no vinho tinto têm sido indicados como agentes protetores de doenças cardiovasculares. Além disso, estudos recentes demonstram o papel protetor dessas moléculas antioxidantes em doenças neurodegenerativas, com particular ênfase na doença de Alzheimer. Dessa forma, hipotetizamos que o consumo regular moderado de vinho tinto é capaz de mitigar o desenvolvimento de comprometimento cognitivo e alterações neuroquímicas nos camundongos LDLr-/-. Assim, avaliamos por testes comportamentais o efeito do consumo moderado de vinho tinto na locomoção, atividade motora e nos parâmetros cognitivos de aprendizado e memória dos animais LDLr-/- submetidos à dieta padrão ou dieta hipercolesterolêmica. Além disso, determinamos a atividade da enzima acetilcolinesterase (AChE) e parâmetros antioxidantes nos tecidos cerebrais desses camundongos. Primeiramente, nós certificamos que a concentração alcoólica de 6% é segura para o consumo dos camundongos C57BL/6. Em seguida, nós observamos que a dieta hipercolesterolêmica causa um aumento nos níveis de colesterol total plasmáticos e dano hepático nos camundongos LDLr-/-, o que não foi atenuado pelo consumo de vinho tinto. Os prejuízos de memória de curto e longo prazo observados nos camundongos LDLr-/- tratados com dieta padrão e rica em colesterol foram revertidos pelo consumo de vinho. No entanto, os efeitos benéficos da bebida foram mais efetivos quando estes camundongos são expostos a uma dieta padrão. A atividade da AChE não foi modificada pela dieta hipercolesterolêmica ou pelo consumo moderado de vinho tinto. Além disso, não foram observadas alterações no sistema antioxidante vinculado à glutationa e nos níveis de peroxidação lipídica nas estruturas cerebrais estudadas após os tratamentos. Nosso conjunto de dados demonstrou que o consumo diário e moderado de vinho tinto é capaz de melhorar o prejuízo cognitivo induzido pela hipercolesterolemia em camundongos, todavia, os mecanismos de ação pelos quais essa bebida possa estar atuando ainda não estão bem elucidados.

Abstract : Clinical and epidemiological evidence have been reported that hypercholesterolemia, particularly familial hypercholesterolemia, as a risk factor for the development of mild cognitive impairment, a transitional stage between healthy aging and the earlier Alzheimer's disease. Familial hypercholesterolemia is a lipoprotein metabolism genetic disorder, characterized by high plasma cholesterol levels leading to premature atherosclerosis as a result of the loss of the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor function. In this regard, our research group has demonstrated that LDL receptor knockout (LDLr-/-) mice, a useful animal model of familial hypercholesterolemia, exhibit learning and memory impairments, which is associated with cholinergic dysfunction and antioxidant imbalance in prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. Since French Paradox attribution, red wine polyphenols and flavonoids are indicated as cardiovascular diseases protectors. In addition, it has been shown the protective effect of these antioxidant molecules in neurodegenerative diseases, with particular emphasis in Alzheimer s disease. In this way, we hypothesized that the regular red wine moderate consumption is be able to mitigate the development of cognitive impairments and neurochemical alterations in LDLr-/- mice. Thus, we evaluated using behavioral tests the effect of red wine moderate consumption in locomotion, motor activity and learning and memory cognitive parameters of LDLr-/- animals submitted to standard or hypercholesterolemic diet. Additionally, we determined the activity of the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme, as well as antioxidant and oxidative stress parameters in the brain tissue of these mice. Firstly, we noticed that the 6% alcohol concentration is safe for C57BL/6 mice consumption. After that, we found that hypercholesterolemic diet causes an increase in the total plasma cholesterol levels and liver damage in LDLr-/- mice, which were not prevented by the consumption of red wine. The short and long term memory loss observed in LDLr-/- mice treated with standard and high cholesterol diet were ameliorated by wine consumption. Notable, beneficial effects of the beverage were most effective when these mice were exposed to a standard diet. The AChE activity was not modified by hypercholesterolemic diet or red wine moderate consumption. In addition, no changes were observed in the glutathione system and levels of lipid peroxidation in both brain structures studied after treatments. Our data set shows that red wine daily and moderate consumption can improve the hypercholesterolemia cognitive impairment induced in mice, however, the mechanisms by which this drink may be acting are still unclear. The objectives of the survey and typing traditional orchards subsistence containing fig plants in rural and urban perimeter Catarina were performing. Characterize the roughness of the fig tree clones and evaluate the use of homeopathic preparations in fig rust control in organic production systems. The metodology used for the survey and location of fig germplasm nigger were held through technical visits. We conducted 43 interviews with semi-structured questionnaire, rising information about the history, potential use, ways to use the fruit and procedures for management of fig. For characterization of resistance expedriments were conducted at the Experimental Station of the Agriocultural Research and Rural Extension, Lages, SC and the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina Concord Campus, in the period 2013/2014. The experiments consisted of evaluation of 35 clones in four replication, with and experimental ploto f fours plants, the revews were incidence and severity of rust on the leaves fortnightly. The study wth the use of homeopathic preparations was conducted in the greenhouse and the field at trhe Federal Institute of Santa Catarina Concord Campus, SC, in two cropping cycles, 2012/2014. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications, the field and eight replicates in a greenhouse. The homeopatic treatments were prepared: Belladonna, Ferrum fosforicum, Aconitum napelus and biotherapic of fig leaves, all in CH12 (twelfth order of Hahnemann s centesimal dolution), Bordeaux mixture 0.2% and 0.3% sulfue syruo. Witnesses were water and non-intervention. It was found that the cultivation of the fig tree is associated with the lemon, orange, bergamoteiras, vines, peac, persimmon and plum trees in backyards, near the home. Phytosanitary problems were repprted by 86% of respondentes in rural areas and 14% in the urban áreas. All respondentes (43) figs intended for personal use and also sells only one. The age of the plants of figs were between 8-65 years. Two accessions of purple figs and two accessions of fine purple fig showed less incidence and severity ofrust on the leaves. The availability of Creoles genotypes resistance to rust offers potential for use on a comercial scale in the locations studies. In the greenhouse, fig treated with Belladonna 12CH, 0.2% Bordeaux misture and lime súlfur to 0.3% showed less senescence and showed the lowest área under the disease progress curve. Este estudo teve objetivo de reconhecer germoplasma crioulo de figo, o conhecimento associado e avaliar a resistência da figueira e uso de preparados homeopáticos no manejo da ferrugem. A localização e levantamento de germoplasma de figo crioulo foram realizadas através de visitas técnicas a área rural no Oeste Catarinense e urbana de Lages. Realizou-se 43 entrevistas com questionário semi-estruturado, levantandose informações sobre o histórico, potencial de uso, formas de utilização do fruto e procedimentos de manejo de figueiras. Para caracterização de resistência experimentos foram realizados na Estação Experimental da Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária e Extensão Rural, Lages, SC e no Instituto Federal Catarinense Campus Concórdia, no período de 2013/2014. Os experimentos constaram de avaliação de 35 clones em quatro repetições, sendo a parcela experimental de quatro plantas. As avaliações foram quinzenais de incidência e severidade de ferrugem nas folhas. O estudo com uso de preparados homeopáticos foi realizado em casa de vegetação e a campo no Instituto Federal Catarinense Campus Concórdia, SC, em dois ciclos de cultivo de 2012 a 2014. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições, a campo, e oito repetições, em casa de vegetação. Os tratamentos foram os preparados homeopáticos: Belladonna, Ferrum fosforicum, Aconitum napelus, e bioterápico de folhas de figueiras, todas na CH12 (décima segunda ordem de diluição centesimal hahnemanniana). Calda bordalesa a 0,2% e calda sulfocalcica a 0,3% foram os tratamentos padrão. Testemunhas foram a água e não intervenção. Verificou-se que o cultivo da figueira está associado, a limoeiros, laranjeiras, bergamoteiras, videiras, pessegueiros, caquizeiros e ameixeiras em quintais, próximos às residências. Problemas fitossanitários foram reportados por 86% dos entrevistados na área rural e 14% no perímetro urbano. Todos os entrevistados (43) destinam os figos para consumo próprio e apenas um também comercializa. A idade das plantas de figos foi entre 8 a 65 anos. Dois acessos de figo roxo e dois acessos de figo roxo fino mostraram menos incidência e severidade de ferrugem nas folhas. A disponibilidade de genótipos crioulos resistentes a ferrugem oferece potencial de uso em escala comercial nos locais estudados. Em casa de vegetação, figueiras tratadas com Belladonna 12CH, calda bordalesa a 0,2% e calda sulfocálcica a 0,3% apresentaram menor senescência e apresentaram menor índice de área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença. A campo, figueiras tratadas com Belladonna 12CH, calda bordalesa a 0,2% e calda sulfocálcica a 0,3% também apresentaram menor índice de área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença e menor incidência da ferrugem, média das sete avaliações. Detentores do conhecimento sobre o cultivo e uso de frutos de figo são predominantes de terceira idade. Belladonna e Nosódio da ferrugem foram equivalentes a calda bordalesa na maioria dos ensaios no manejo da ferrugem da figueira
