Abstract:
Abstract: The genus Ficus L., commonly known as Fig plays an important role in the forest ecosystem, being a keystone species. Taxonomic revision, habitat assessment, and floristic study of the genus Ficus of northeastern region are scanty and still lacking. As the genus is rich in diversity, this region possesses tremendous scope for utilisation of its members, as many species belonging to this genus carry good properties for diverse uses for the benefit of mankind. Therefore, the present study has been undertaken for identification of the collected taxa, diversity assessment of the wild as well as planted species, distribution throughout the state and preparation of a comprehensive checklist along with measures of diverse functions and ecological role of the genus Ficus in Tripura, North-East India. Field survey was conducted between April 2017–August 2018 throughout Tripura and all the locations were marked with GPS which is given in the present distribution map of Ficus in Tripura. This study is based on extensive field survey and specimen collection. Key taxonomic description, both accepted and vernacular names, phenology, and diverse habitat function of all species have been provided. Based on the available literatures, distribution information of the present records were calculated. Evaluation of diverse ecological role were scored based on the published literature and field observations. In the present study, 23 taxa of Ficus have been reported from the study area including four new distribution records. Most of the Ficus species recorded in this study were from moist mixed deciduous and secondary forests. Out of 23 species of Ficus recorded in the present study, seven (7) species belong to evergreen small tree to shrub (F. benghalensis, F. drupacea, F. elastica, F. microcarpa, F. racemosa, F. sarmentosa and F. semicordata); three (3) species recorded are large deciduous tree (F. racemosa, F. religiosa and F. rumphii). Fleshy fruited trees are the most preferable option for survival of frugivores over diverse habitats and thus, plays major role for entire ecosystem restoration. The present work will be useful to understand the critical interactions between plants and frugivore at different trophic levels. Further, Ficus groups tend to have multiple ecological roles, and as a result there exists huge scope to understand the mechanisms of plant functional traits for conservation of threatened frugivore diversity.

Abstract:
Herbal medicines are very useful in treating various human ailments. The plants and herbs consumed in its natural state have proved to have lesser side effects and are cost effective too. Recognition of this fact has created a demand for herbal medicines, both in developing and developed countries across the globe. Peptic ulcer disease in clinical practice is one of the common gastrointestinal disorders where duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, NSAIDs triggered ulcer and stress ulcer are common forms of peptic ulcer. Gastric ulcers are commonly found in the geriatrics and in the lower socio-economic class of people. Most synthetic drugs are used to treat peptic ulcers, but they cause adverse effects of various kinds. For its ethnic, ethno botanical and ethno pharmacological use, herbal medicines are therefore exceptional. In this review, attempts were made to know the natural antiulcer drugs with their recommended drug portion, screening method and sort of extract used for appraisal and observations to show its usage. The reason for this assessment is to assemble literature and the antiulcer residences of the herbal medicines used frequently. Different plants such as Allium sativum, Centella asiatica, Lawsonia inermis, Ocimum sanctum, Sesbania grandiflora, Adansonia digitata, Ficus religiosa, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Cynodon dactylon, have been shown to be involved in antiulcer care.

This thesis sought to understand and analyze the narratives and representations regarding the ritualistic cult egwugwu nanny in Itaparica / BA Island from the literary Long live the Brazilian people (1984) of itaparicano Jo?o Ubaldo Ribeiro. Assuming that the theme of religiosity, this work is related to identity projects based on memory and oral aimed to reflect on the forms of African descent resistance at keeping alive the religious basis of their ancestors and how the feeling of belonging a particular religion becomes a key factor in the construction of cultural identity. The study is based on the reflection of dialogical relations between memory and orality, ritual egwugwu and performance practices carried out in Afro-Brazilian religions. Categories such as ancestry, oral, performance and ritual were triggered as reading operators, in line with the theoretical, critical and historical postulates of Literature scholars of African and Afro-Brazilian cultures. In the particular case of this work, one of the many outstanding contributions is by proposing a model of understanding and analysis of the dynamics of public performances of Candombl?. Thus, the research allowed to present a new look about the religions of African origin and their practices showing how Jo?o Ubaldo Ribeiro to transcribe these facts, it highlights something essential that is respect and appreciation for these religions who still suffer prejudice and discrimination.

Abstract:
Among the innumerous characters created and eternalized by Eça de Queirós all along his production, the devil perhaps is the one who less received attention from the critical analysis of the writers works. Far from being called a marginal character, for it is present since the early texts till the last works developed by Eça, the devil really seems to have been omitted by his mostly small and/or supposedly unpretentious figurations. In this work we intend to turn our eyes to this character in Eça de Queirós work, confirming our hypothesis that with few, but systematic appearances, Satan plays a fundamental role in the writers production, especially when he tries to mention concepts of modern individualism and to criticize the official religious institution of Portugal, the Catholic Church, as well as everything which was related to it and to its actuation in the country. We start by verifying who Satan is, how this myth has blossomed, and mainly, the role of the church in his creation, formalization and actuation all along the centuries until nowadays. Subsequently, to comprehend the conception of the devil that Eça conducts in his works, we dedicate our attention to the literary devil, or else, to the several forms and ways in which the demon will feature in literature, mainly by intermediate of the Faustian myth and the senses which authors from the French literature in the XVIII and XIX centuries, from which Eça was a reader, attributed to him, mostly using him as a paladin of the individualist thought. Yet, before leaving for our critical reading, we will analyze the devil of the Portuguese popular religiosity, that seems also to have been source of inspiration for Eça to build up his devils, due to a series of controversial values aggregated to the demoniac picture by this peculiar way of living the religion. Finally, in the last part of the work, we will go to the analysis of the devils figurations in the works of the several phases of the writers production, starting with the texts of Prosas Bárbaras, going to the devils of O Mandarim e A Relíquia till we get to the devils of Vidas de Santos. We will conclude our work confirming the hypothesis that the devil is not only another minor secondary character conducted by Eça de Queirós, but one of the main ones, when the subjects developed in his texts were the apologies regarding to the modern individualism and the permanent criticism directed to the Religious Institution.

Abstract:

This thesis is the first monographic investigation of the Bishop of Puebla, Manuel Fernández de Santa Cruz and Sahagún (Born Palencia 1637- Died Puebla de los Ángeles 1699). He is the key person for understanding the highest literary moments in the culture of New Spain, because around the presence of the bishop important figures like Sister Juana Inés de la Cruz (1648-1695) were supported and encouraged . In the shadow of the great poetess there were many studies circulating about Fernández de Santa Cruz which merit a deep reflection given his relevance. Our work tries to bring to light aspects not dealt with before through an analysis of his hagiography Dechado de príncipes eclesiásticos (first edition in Puebla, 1716) and the funeral sermon written for the funeral rites (1699) by the famous New Spanish author, José Gómez de la Parra. One of the principal directions that we follow in this work is to search for possible philosophical roots that illuminate the perspective of Dechado de príncipes and the sermon as a probable albeit unorthodox message in these works.

Excluding the confessional-theological systematic approach and literary-cricticism speech analysis, this paper proposes a dialogue link between theology and literature, in the field of the sciences of religion, through a hermeneutic analysis with an anthropologic approach, trying to understand the beliefs and behavior of Brazil‟s Northeast religiosity inside the roman-catholic Christian tradition, and elects the cordel poems written between 1860 and 1920 as a path of this interface some of them literally transcripted in the commemorative work 100 Cordeis Historicos segundo a Academia Brasileira de Literatura de Cordel, Gonçalo Ferreira da Silva (org.), Mossoró: Queima-Bucha, 2008. Based upon Michel de Certeau‟s theory (1925-1986) quotidian logic and formality in the ways of telling which realizes and searchs the survival tactics adopted by the ordinary man inside the tales and popular legends, this work considers two main points: first, cordel literature is the file, the record and the translator of a popular way of telling the ordinary man‟s beliefs and experiences in the Brazilian Northeast and, second, those beliefs and experiences may be analyzed and described as religiousness pictures in a larger social and cultural environment, beyond the borders of a religious faith or tradition. Thereafter the purpose is to enrich the records of existing works about the Brazilian religousness subject the understanding related to the beliefs and experiences of the ordinary man, whether in town or in the wilderness.

Abstract:
Since the beginning, the children and juvenile literature has following the transformations of the man and of the society, and it has been serving as stage for such changes. In different times and places, literary productions that reproduce the human experience and everything related to it can be observed. Among these relations, there is the sacred, which presents itself as an organic and universal connection. In this research, when observing the trajectory of the sacred in the literature, changes in the way it manifests are identified, which enables us to evaluate the elements that designed such transformations. it is not about a linear movement, but it is a spiraled movement, which incorporates the elements of the modifications and, at the same time, it is projected. Therefore, it is proposed to evaluate the transitions of the sacred throughout the history of the children and juvenile literature, as form an analysis of the main literary manifestations since the period of the Portuguese colonization in Brazil to the contemporaneity, in order to encompass how the transformations, occurred throughout this period, reflect in its present configuration. When revisiting the \"yesterday\" of the literature, the \"today\" can be better understood, as it presents the marks of the past. Besides analyzing excerpts of the literary production of the colonization time until the beginning of the XIX century, in the period of the precursors of the Brazilian children and juvenile literature, in the period of the ideals of the modernism, in the boom of the children literature in the 1970s, and in contemporaneity, the research involves, above all, the compared analysis of the works from the authors Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (Portugal) and Bartolomeu de Campos Queirós (Brazil). When comparing them, it is verified a new configuration of the sacred in their articulations.

Abstract:
This research aims at showing the catechetic function of Laudes e Cantigas Espirituais written by the Benedictine Monk Andre Dias in the first half of the fifteenth century. The verses of Master André seem to assume an educational value as they aim at transmitting the Gospels message in order to edify christians through the exemplarity of Jesus and Mary. Within this scope, the lauds seem to emphasize some kind of more intimist, more palpable sense of religiosity, as well as more accessible to the divine sphere. However, the lauds still do not neglect their devotional aspect. Thus, through the analyses of three thematic groups, Master Andres laudarium (Loas de Natal Christmas Loas - , Loas e Prantos de Nossa Senhora Loas and Sorrows from Our Lady - and Laudas da Paixão Lauds of the Passion), this study seeks to highlight the elements which determine the doctrinary functions of analyzed compositions. Based on the medieval laudistic tradition, which was mainly diffused in the Italian Peninsula, we shall attempt at pointing out a possible relationship between the Portuguese Lauds and the writings by the Italian writers Feo Belcari and Jacopone da Todi.

The present work intends to analyze Gil Vicent s, play writer and poet, view about virtues and humans degradation considering the salvation aspect involved in it. Literature and Theology altogether can show aspects of humans life, for this reason the Trilogy of Boat: Act of the Boat of Hell, Act of the Boat of Purgatory and the Act of the Boat of Heaven were chosen to be analyzed for represent the thinking concerning salvations aspects in that important time period, that showed a religious disagreement that resulted in Protestant Reformation (1517). The life, the work and the prestige the poet had with the kings John II, Manuel and the queen Eleonor will be observed firstly. Vicent´s works is very important until today; by his work, Trilogy of Boat, the influence of his time and the mean where he lived are observed. He shows that in the Middle Age the society and the church had a lot of sins like lust, avarice, envy, robbery and pride; all Vicent s characters have one or more of these sins and they respond for that. He show us his religious believes in Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory by the destiny he gives to the sinners souls. The poet created a place where angels, the demon and personified death are responsible for who died. In his Trilogy of Boats we analyze the author s concept about salvation and we saw the ones who went to Hell, to Paradise and to Purgatory, to have their sins purified. Finally, we can observe that Gil Vincent was a man who wants to see the transformation of his society and his church. However, our intention isn t defend a point of view referent to soteriology controversy whether salvation can happen through God s grace or by the election through his prescience, we pretend show that both concepts were present before , during and after Vicente s life, as well during the Protestant Reformation. Starting from historic and culture analyses, our intention is respond some questions like: What are salvation concepts in Gil Vincent work? His soteriological thoughts are based on what? Whether, did he a significant contribution to his readers of all the times? And finally: Was he a precursor of Reformation or only discontent with Catholic Church?

This research has investigated the relations between literature and religiosity elaborated from the living experience of an elderly students group with different religious beliefs, having as basis the reading and interpretation of the work Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. What motivated this investigation movements were the discussions on the religious interculturality, that occurred during the realization of literary saraus, in which selected passages from Cervantian work were read and interpreted (that approached the illiteracy issue in adulthood, the desire of knowing and the religious interculturality) by the elderly literacy group, whose age ranged between 60 and 83 years old, in a municipal school in Porto Alegre, in 2006. Here, three action scopes were articulated so that the elderly were able to understand the construction of their identity and their role in the social inclusion process. The first scope has been constituted through a formal educational space represented by the school. The second scope has been constituted through a public space represented by the square. The third action scope, central element of this dissertation, has been the religion sphere, represented by different forms of religiosity in their multiple ways of manifestation. These three scopes have been conjugated through a pedagogical proposal, centered in the reading and interpretation of Cervantes book. This investigation allowed us to ascertain the relevance of religiosity in research subjects life, as well as the importance of sharing experiences and narratives among those who have proposed to sit at the table of dialogue, with the mediation of literary texts, in which the religious interculturality has been discussed.
