This thesis examines the establishment of the Ballarat West Municipality in the years of 1855 – 1857 and the factors that contributed to the introduction of local self-government in the immediate aftermath of the Eureka Stockade. Underlying the study is the changing administrative requirements necessitated by the transition from a temporary gold field to a permanent city. A central theme explored in relation to this development is that it was a consequence of the emerging culture of modernity of that era precipitating radical political changes in local government that began with the 1835 Briti

Miscanthus is an important source of biomass and can be grown on marginal sites so as not to compete with food crops. Establishment by seed is more cost effective than by rhizome; therefore, improving seed agronomy is vital for the success of the crop. This study contributes an assessment of many previously unknown factors on Miscanthus germination. Hormone treatments and cluster sowings are tested, predominantly for direct sowing but al

The research focused on the nonlinear characteristics of the MOSFET (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) operated under the large signal operating condition. The traditional models only describe the performances at saturation. However, the breakdown characteristics of the MOSFETs in the avalanche breakdown region are not addressed. The presented large signal model could describe the performances of the MOSFET from saturation to breakdown

Nonetheless, there is still need for relatively complete and systematic reference material on the subject. Such reference material could be used to assist in the preservation of railway history, to enhance the quality of railway tourism, and t

<div>The erosion of railway batters is inevitable as they are constructed with soil. The deteriorating batters could undermine the structural integrity of the rail formation. This thesis aimed to research the quick establishment of grass on these steeply sloping batters to minimise erosion. The major research tools used in this investigation included seed germination experiments, quantitative assessment of soil loss due to rainfall induced erosion and single and multi -site field trials to demonstrate large scale application of a bio-engineering approach for railway batter erosion control.</di

At present, either in hospital or in bad environmental area, workers are wearing the filtered air breathing type mask for protection them from danger. And after wearing it for a period of time, personnel might feel very uncomfortable and causing not only the work efficiency being fallen down but its filtration performance is not good as well. In the scope of Human Resource Management, many people pay attention to whether practitioners will be replaced by AI. However, if human-machine cooperation can be effectively utilized, the above-mentioned incident will not happen. Effectively working with AI can make the work more efficient. This study conducted an asynchronous interview, and constructed an automated compatibility rating system to score each of the candidate in the experiment. In th
