Modern trends in production management have increased the importance of the time factor in both production and logistics. However, there is much less room for maneuver in production than in logistics. Therefore, to reduce the duration of the main production cycle, many companies are trying to improve intra-production logistics by introducing new technologies and logistics systems. Of decisive importance for production management is the activity of supplying the necessary materials, including logistics operations. In this context, it is worth mentioning that at the present stage the basic links

In the first half of the article, I illustrate how the official, state-owned publishing houses interact with the ‘illegal’ private publishing firms, a process enabled by the distinctive ‘trade’ in ISBN

AbstractThe specific question this chapter addresses is how to account ethnographically for change that unfolds on spatial and temporal scales larger than those of the ethnographic field study without opposing the local site to global forces. My research engages a processual approach which examines the effects of China’s transformations and the creation of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on the relationship between the members of a former emigrant community and their diaspora. I propose an analytical distinction between two relational dimensions of scale in which social action can be considered: scale as the scope of social systems or chains of interdependence that extend in space and time and in which actions and interactions take place, and scale as valence, i.e., the desirability of scale defined relative to other scales, generating “scalar projects.” I focus on how contradictions in the collected field materials are telling signs of accelerated change that generate conflicts of scale, and use such “diagnostic contradictions” as a starting point for understanding how people attempt to make sense of rapid change and reconceptualize the valence of local and global scales.

AbstractClimate change impacts a natural and human system on the entire globe. Climate-related extreme weather such as drought, floods, and heat waves alters the ecosystems that society depends on. Climate, land, energy, and water systems (CLEWS) are a critical aspect of high importance on resource availability, distribution, and interconnection. The nexus provides a set of guidelines to South Africa that aims on creating a level playing field for all sectors while achieving the aims of the SDGs that are cross-sectoral and multilevel approaches to climate change. The nexus expressed three domains that included resources, governance, and security. It integrated a smart climate resilient with inclusion of the governance and involvement of the stakeholders. Recognition of spatial and sector interdependencies should inform policies, investment and institutional for enhancing nexus security and climate change towards making transition green carbon deals. The nexus offers an integrated approach that analyzes the trade-offs and synergies between the different sectors in order to maximize the efficiency of using the resources that adapt institutional and optimum policy arrangements. Economic transformation and creation of employment through green economy is one of the COP26 green deal agendas in curbing the carbon emissions (green house emission, industrial processes, fuel combustion, and fugitive emissions) as mitigation to climate change, which is cost-effective and economically efficient. The future climate change policy in the developing countries is likely to be both promoted by climate technology transfer and public-private cooperation (cross-sector partnership) through the technology mechanism of the nexus and inclusion of the gender.

This chapter considers the relative causal importance of economic interdependence and changes in commercial expectations which led to the ups and downs of Cold War history. It seeks to rectify the lacuna in the international relations field by showing the truly powerful impact of commercial factors on the dynamics of US–Soviet relations after 1941. The problems with realist and liberal thinking about economic interdependence are starkly revealed by the Cold War case. The theoretical logics for both camps are based on the actual present trade between great power spheres. But in situations where current trade is low or nonexistent, leaders' expectations of future trade and commerce can be still critical to their decision-making processes.

After briefly reviewing the current state of the field on the link between economic interdependence and war, the bulk of this chapter is spent elucidating the deductive logic of the trade expectations approach. It attempts to show the advantages of viewing the world through the lens of the trade expectations logic in order to demonstrate that it clears up most of the logical problems that have bedeviled current scholarship. The chapter argues that it is only by capturing how leaders really think—something that necessarily involves estimates and assessments of future possibilities and probabilities—that we can build causal theories that actually work in the real world.

It emphasizes that financial economists tended to collaborate with the same people, repeatedly. They worked in small groups and, as a result, participated in an economy of affect in order to repurpose a term from Lorraine Daston that privileged the communicability and interdependence of their findings rather than their precision or accuracy as the centrality of data to what they did might suggest. The network of financial economics came to value communicability and interdependence along with reasonableness. The chapter uses a dataset of study papers, as well as bibliometric and network data to present systematic, quantitative evidence about the kind of social structure that sustained the affective dispositions.

Abstract:
The ethics of international refugee protection reflect the dual normative principles of state sovereignty and recognition of refugees’ international human rights which characterize the contemporary refugee regime since the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol. This contribution identifies three major positions, each of which acknowledges these dual foundations while seeking to balance, synthesize, or transcend them. These positions are: liberal nationalism, which prioritizes state sovereignty and the rights of bounded political communities to protect their own culture and territory; liberal internationalism, which recognizes that state sovereignty is embedded in a system of international duties and prerogatives; and, cosmopolitanism, which seeks to transcend ‘ontology of containment’ characterizing both positions by acknowledging the radical interdependence of peoples and the fluidity of their movement across boundaries. The cosmopolitan position is further divided into agency-centric views, power-centric views, and the post-colonial perspective. The article concludes by defending jurisgenerativity and democratic iterations as political processes through which law’s normative promise and its imbrication in systems of power and domination can be brought to light and resignified to reflect the dignity and subjectivity of refugees and not merely their protection.

Several geometrical parameters were varied, however, the meridional channel geometry was always kept constant. By this approach the blade wrap angle has been found to react significantly on the relative flow which is illustrated by comparing two designs with different wrap angles. Primarily in the hub/leading edge area a better boundary layer flow connected with a reduction of blade loading was obtained by increasing the wrap angle.

For example, one participant’s decision on whether to participate in a contest depends on whether other participants have participated in the same contest or not. To test the hypothesis, the exponential random graph model (ERGM) is

Abstract Different applications of fracture bridging and diversion are used regularly in carbonate acid fracturing without an in-depth understanding of the physical phenomena that dominate the processes involved in the bridging and diversion process. The extension of modeling capabilities in conjunction with yard-scale and field-scale experiences will increase our understanding of these processes. A robust multimodal diversion pill and polylactic acid fiber-laden viscous acid were utilized for near-wellbore and far-field bridging, respectively. Numerous field treatments demonstrated the uncert

Teamwork is a competence highly demanded among workers and an academic field with an extensive specialized literature. Based on this knowledge that comes from the study of organizational behavior, this communication presents a model to understand teamwork in higher education settings. The theoretical model considers structural components (i.e., task interdependence and task uncertainty), processes (i.e., team development and team climate for learning) and results (i.e., team effectiveness). With the aim of enhancing human capital by bringing out talents, this paper offers a theoretical model for innovating teaching/learning methodological approaches. The Humor Talent Resilience (HTR) Model for Well-Being in Educating Community recognizes Humor as a pedagogical device that jointly feeds both Talent and Resilience. This nourishment triggers a dynamic process between Talent and Resilience of reciprocal and constant interdependence, while developing a mutual positive contamination in continuous evolution. This process is itself a “generator of Well-Being” but it will be able to fully

Abstract:
This article is based on the evaluation of the German research funding programme “FONA - Forschung für Nachhaltigkeit” (Research for Sustainability.) It reflects upon the methodological challenges confronting the evaluation. These challenges result from the specific objectives and design of the FONA programme (a strategic portfolio of heterogenious interventions). FONA’s ambition is to fund activities under the emerging field of ‘sustainability research’. The core characteristics of sustainability research are: interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research processes; orientation towards tr
