Abstract:
Electron beams are used to treat superficial lesions in radiation oncology by taking advantage of the sharp dose fall-off and the limited range of the particles in tissue. The irregular shape of individual tumors, however, often requires custom made shielding in order to geometrically shape the radiation field to the target, while minimizing the dose to surrounding tissues. In many institutions, low melting alloy or lead cutouts are used for electron beam shaping. In this work, electron dosimetry beam parameters such as percentage depth dose (PDD), outputs, and beam profiles, were measured wit

Abstract:
Whilst smaller pitches have become the norm in junior football, they may still be too large for certain ages and levels of skill. To date there has been no research into the relationships between size of the pitch and the technical kicking ability (distance and accuracy) of young players (8 - 14 years of age). The purpose of this investigation was to examine variables that influence actual kicking distance and accuracy and also to measure what differences in play behaviour (passing and dribbling) emerge from self-selected changes in pitch size for different age groups (9 and 10 years of age).

Abstract:
In the present study, the forelimb of adult mongrel cats was totally denervated by transection and ligation of the radial, ulnar and median nerves above the elbow. The organization of the body representation in primary somatosensory cortex was then studied at different intervals with neurophysiological mapping techniques and compared to the organization seen in normal cats. The objective was to determine whether responsiveness was recovered in the cortical area which had lost both cutaneous and deep inputs, and, if recovered, to characterize the time course and spatial extent of this recovery.

Building Sites In The Expanding Field is a two-part research project that examines, through art practice and theory components, relations between institutional critique and white cube gallery conventions at the start of the twenty-first century. Abstract:
This study introduces a new specification of oil and gas exploration as a sampling process, in order to estimate the number and sizes of undiscovered oil and gas pools by statistical inference from discovered pools as a sample. Oil and gas exploration is quite unlike drawing samples at random in that actual sampling is size-biased, subject to truncation of uneconomic pools, and to censorship of discovered pool sizes. The method of estimating the number and sizes of undiscovered pools proposed in this study specifically accounts for these non-random components of exploration as a sampling proce

Abstract:
Nanotechnologies are rapidly expanding because of the opportunities that the new materials offer in many areas such as the manufacturing industry, food production, processing and preservation, and in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. Size distribution of the nanoparticles determines their properties and is a fundamental parameter that needs to be monitored from the small-scale synthesis up to the bulk production and quality control of nanotech products on the market. Thomas, L. "The killing fields of Cambodia : an investigation into motivations of visitors to dark sites." Thesis, Canterbury Christ Church University, 2017. http://create.canterbury.ac.uk/17723/.

Abstract:
A central aim of this study is to establish tourist motivations to visit dark sites such as Tuol Sleng and Choeung Ek in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The body of literature that exists around dark tourism published so far agrees there is a general lack of understanding around dark tourism motivations. The research questions set out in this study ask if tourists who visit such sites view themselves as dark tourists, whether time plays a role in their motivations to visit and what factors inspire them to visit such sites. The study also considers sub-conscious, psychological and instinctive drivers tha

Yang, Taeyoung. "Fundamental Limits on Antenna Size for Frequency and Time Domain Applications." Diss., Virginia Tech, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/39334.

Abstract:
As ubiquitous wireless communication becomes part of life, the demand on antenna miniaturization and interference reduction becomes more extreme. However, antenna size and performance are limited by radiation physics, not technology. In order to understand antenna radiation and energy storage mechanisms, classical and alternative viewpoints of radiation are discussed. Unlike the common sense of classical antenna radiation, it is shown that the entire antenna fields contribute to both radiation and energy storage with varying total energy velocity during the radiation process. These observatio
