Strain films in the thin film resistance strain gauge are prepared by magnetron sputtering method. Some results concerning the electromechanical and structural properties of nichrome (Ni80Cr20 wt.%) thin films are presented. As compared to the well-known Ni-Cu (constantan) alloy film, which are widely used for manufacturing pressure and force sensors, nichrome (Ni80Cr20 wt.%) thin films exhibit gauge factor values of the same order of magnitude, but they are much more corrosion resistant and adherent to the substrate. Abstract. An important property of high-precision mechanical sensors such as force transducers or torque sensors is the so-called creep error. It is defined as the signal deviation over time at a constant load. Since this signal deviation results in a reduced accuracy of the sensor, it is beneficial to minimize the creep error. Many of these sensors consist of a metallic spring element and strain gauges. In order to realize a sensor with a creep error of almost zero, it is necessary to compensate for the creep behavior of the metallic spring element. This can be achieved by creep adjustment of

The method is based on the creation of stand-alone polyimide paths, on top of which the piezoresistive thin film is located. Abstract:
A fully inkjet-printed strain sensor based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was fabricated in this study for microstrain and microcrack detection. Carbon nanotubes and silver films were used as the sensing layer and conductive layer, respectively. Inkjet-printed CNTs easily undergo agglomeration due to van der Waals forces between CNTs, resulting in uneven films. The uniformity of CNT film affects the electrical and mechanical properties. Multi-pass printing and pattern rotation provided precise quantities of sensing materials, enabling the realization of uniform CNT films and stable resistance. Thr

This article investigates the physicochemical properties of the high-entropy alloy MoNbTaVW and its potential application in strain gauge sensors for structural health monitoring of composite constructions, particularly wind turbines. The material’s suitability for accurate mechanical tension measurements is analyzed, taking into account its high thermal stability, resistance to corrosion, and tolerance to radiation exposure. It is demonstrated that MoNbTaVW maintains structural integrity at elevated temperatures, outperforming conventional metals commonly used in sensing systems. Special atte

The Marangoni effect has been applied in the preparation of large-area ultrathin films. However, defects occur frequently during the transfer progress of ultrathin films to substrates, which limits its application in scalable and massive fabrication. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), as typical one-dimensional carbon materials, are widely used in wearable and flexible sensors due to their outstanding electrical and mechanical properties. In this paper, Marangoni-driven self-assembled CNTs film was obtained by injecting 0.5 mL 1 mg·mL−1 CNTs/ethanol dispersion on 100 cm2 water dropwise; the thickness, s

It was observed that the fPCBs are very sensitive to strain mounting stiffness. The indirect measurement method will be done employing High Speed Camera (HSP). The direct method will be formulated in two ways: 1) conventional strain gauge glued in an fPCBs; 2) printed strain gauge in a polyimide substrate. Thin film stresses are important in many areas of technology. In the semiconductor industry, metal interconnects are prone to stress voiding and hillock formation. Stresses in passivation layers can lead to excessive substrate curvature which can cause alignment difficulty in subsequent lithographic processing. In other thin film applications, stresses can cause peeling from mechanical failure at the film-substrate interface. Beyond these issues of reliability, stress and the resulting strain can be used to tune the properties of thin film materials. For instance, strain, coupled with the magn
