The aim of the article is to examine whether the jargon units connected with ballet should be included in the network of terms found in modern dictionaries. The starting point of the analysis was the theoretical discourse concerning the range of meanings that the term “jargon” possesses. The article also gives an overview of the names and works of the authors who analysed the theatrical and ballet jargon. Then, using specific examples, the author confirms that the jargon units occur in the texts of culture, which implies that lay men can also come across such vocabulary. Texts of culture, for

This paper examines the use and meaning of the body-part terms or quasi-body part terms associated with Japanese emotions. The terms analyzed are kokoro, mune, hara, ki, and mushi. In Japanese kokoro is regarded as the seat of emotions. Mune (roughly, ‘chest’) is the place where Japanese believe kokoro is located. Hara (roughly, ‘belly’) can be used to refer to the seat of ‘thinking’, for example in expression of anger-like feelings which entail a prior cognitive appraisal. The term ki (roughly, ‘breath’) is also used for expressions dealing with emotions, temperament, and behaviour; among the

Therefore, the emotional classification of film reviews has high research value because few emotion dictionaries and analysis tools are available for reference and use in film reviews. Indigenous Zimbabwean languages have through history endured marginalisation in terms of functional status in government administration, law, education, business, the media, science and technology. Though such marginalisation may be traced back to the colonial ‘inheritance situation’ (Bambgbose 1991), a solution to it may lie to some extent in the use of digital technology. It is argued that digitisation provides a propitious window to reverse language marginalisation or to intensify language revitalisation efforts where they have already been initiated. This study investigates the use of sexism in languages called sexist languages and the reason why the characters uttered it in the movie Colette. Therefore, two theories are used in this study. The first theory is from Mills (2008) that divides sexist languages into overt and indirect sexism. Then, the second theory is by Weatherall (2002) who states that the usage of sexist languages is making women invisible, causing women to be defined narrowly, and making women get depreciated.
