Abstract:
AbstractThe provision and dissemination of Open Data is a flourishing concept, which is highly recognized and established in the government and public administrations domains. Typically, the actual data is served as static file downloads, such as CSV or PDF, and the established software solutions for Open Data are mostly designed to manage this kind of data. However, the rising popularity of the Internet of things and smart devices in the public and private domain leads to an increase of available real-time data, like public transportation schedules, weather forecasts, or power grid data. Such timely and extensive data cannot be used to its full potential when published in a static, file-based fashion. Therefore, we designed and developed Ronda - an open source platform for gathering, processing and publishing real-time Open Data based on industry-proven and established big data and data processing tools. Our solution easily enables Open Data publishers to provide real-time interfaces for heterogeneous data sources, fostering more sophisticated and advanced Open Data use cases. We have evaluated our work through a practical application in a production environment.

Abstract:
AbstractIn silico prediction of plant performance is gaining increasing breeders’ attention. Several statistical, mathematical and machine learning methodologies for analysis of phenotypic, omics and environmental data typically use individual or a few data layers. Genomic selection is one of the applications, where heterogeneous data, such as those from omics technologies, are handled, accommodating several genetic models of inheritance. There are many new high throughput Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms on the market producing whole-genome data at a low cost. Hence, large-scale genomic data can be produced and analyzed enabling intercrosses and fast-paced recurrent selection. The offspring properties can be predicted instead of manually evaluated in the field . Breeders have a short time window to make decisions by the time they receive data, which is one of the major challenges in commercial breeding. To implement genomic selection routinely as part of breeding programs, data management systems and analytics capacity have therefore to be in order. The traditional relational database management systems (RDBMS), which are designed to store, manage and analyze large-scale data, offer appealing characteristics, particularly when they are upgraded with capabilities for working with binary large objects. In addition, NoSQL systems were considered effective tools for managing high-dimensional genomic data. MongoDB system, a document-based NoSQL database, was effectively used to develop web-based tools for visualizing and exploring genotypic information. The Hierarchical Data Format (HDF5), a member of the high-performance distributed file systems family, demonstrated superior performance with high-dimensional and highly structured data such as genomic sequencing data.

Abstract:
This paper describes the original technology of biogas purification to bring it to the optimal parameters of motor fuel. For the first time, as a filler in a purification filter the use of a natural mineral – zeolite – has been proposed. Biogas is obtained by processing organic animal waste, in this case cattle manure, in an anaerobic psychrophilic plant. In turn, the psychrophilic anaerobic technology was developed by the authors on the basis of the road department of the M. K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University. Even a partial transfer of technology to biogas would reduce the consumption of liquid petroleum fuels in the agricultural sector. As a result, a reduction in the cost of transporting of a liquid fuel would provide release of significant funds that can be spent on solving other problems. The manual is intended for students of motor and agro-feminine orientation, undergraduates, graduate students, teachers.

Routers interconnect networks of various enterprises, and the more secure the entry or exit points are made, the more robust the security of these enterprises is. These routers become the first direct targets and are vulnerable to security attacks. If these routers are not tightly protected, the attackers get an edge to intrude the system. In order to ensure the security of these routers, Secure Access Control Lists (ACLs) Filtering-Based Enterprise Networks (SAFE-Nets) are proposed in this chapter. In this scheme, routers are configured with Access Control Lists (ACL) that are used to filter in the intended packets and filter out the dangerous malicious packets from network traffic. This consolidates security deployment over the entire network on top of anti-virus software, weak passwords, latent software vulnerabilities, and other related secure measures. This can help network technicians working for various enterprises manage security at low costs.

This chapter discusses the potential of social software and Web 2.0 tools to enhance language learning in a blended learning context. It describes an English as a Foreign Language course that introduces students to several Web 2.0 tools with the aim of helping them develop their own Personal Learning Environment. As students become familiar with the almost endless opportunities for accessing and participating in authentic language on the Web today, they must also learn to find appropriate resources, filter unsuitable materials, manage this information overload, and decide which tools best suit their own learning style. The chapter argues that accompanied with the right pedagogical approach, these tools enhance learning by allowing students to engage in self-directed learning and gain skills and resources that are transferable to their informal, lifelong language learning.

Abstract:
An important issue present in the most of manufacturing systems, and become worse in SMEs, is the systematic management of the huge amount of unstructured information generated about products, from their design to their disposal. The aim of this chapter is to define a framework to manage such kind of data, overcoming the actual issues of the meaningless and the unstructured nature of generated information. To this aim, a knowledge management platform is proposed, both to store product information with semantic enrichment and to retrieve product information by means of a new similarity index. Such platform is based on the one hand on a non-relational data management system and on the other hand on a set of manufacturing ontologies. An example of the potentiality of the proposed framework is shown in the domain of telecommunication filter manufacturing.

Librarians apply library science principles as they develop and manage the community's information collection. In today's digital environment, the proliferation of information requires that librarians increasingly need to interpret, filter, and evaluate that information. Librarians apply library science-based technical processes to organize and optimize the efficient retrieval of the needed information. In addition, librarians foster information literacy in communities, largely serving as a responsive guide for all of its community members, not only for the purpose of pre-existing library comprising their catalogs and indexes, but the creation of new orders developed and made possible by the computer search capabilities. Abstract:
This chapter discusses right ventricular assist device (RVAD) therapies. Current RVAD options include the Impella Right Peripheral, the Tandem Heart, the Protek Duo system, and a surgically placed CentriMag RVAD. Important considerations when choosing a device include operator familiarity, the need for an oxygenator, the availability of a surgeon, and specific contraindications such as severe tricuspid regurgitation, an occluded internal jugular vein, or the presence of an inferior vena cava filter. It is important to consider the hemodynamic effects on the left ventricle (LV) after placement of an RVAD. Identifying biventricular failure early is critical when RVAD implantation is considered. RVADs reduce right atrial pressure, increase flow through the pulmonary arteries, and increase LV preload and wedge pressure. This change in preload may worsen LV function and cause pulmonary edema in patients with LV failure. LV assist device revolutions per minute may need to increase after placement of an RVAD to manage increased flow to the LV. Ultimately, assessing changes in oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and echocardiographic indices can guide hemodynamic management of RVAD therapy.

Abstract:
Animal and crop production throughout the world generate high amounts of wastes or by-products annually that may possess added value compounds with high functionality. These wastes and by-products may cause negative environmental impacts and significant expenses if not well managed and or controlled. Much of these wastes and by-products is valuable and cheaper source of potentially functional compounds such as proteins, lipids, starch, micronutrients, bioactive compounds, and dietary fibbers. In aquaculture, feed is expensive, and the existing body of literature has shown that animal manure and its extracts can be successfully incorporated into fishpond to increase fish production at a low cost. In addition, crop residues such as rice bran, maize bran, and seed cakes are commonly used as pond inputs in small-scale aquaculture. Animal waste and crop residues are added in a fishpond that filter-feeding fish can use directly as feed, and these may form a major proportion of the detritus in the pond. These resources also stimulate the growth of phytoplankton that are rich in protein and are the basis of the food web that can support the growth of a range of herbivorous and omnivorous fish. Therefore, technically, wastes are used as direct feed, a source of minerals for autotrophic production and a source of organic matter for heterotrophic production. In this context, animal manure and crop residues have been used to provide great opportunities to improve food security. The purpose of this review is to project the potential of animal waste and agro-by-products as a sustainable alternative as aquaculture inputs to reduce poverty, malnutrition, and hunger in developing countries.

Abstract:
Membrane filtration systems are used in a variety of processing industries where their performance meet and exceed the requirements in cost and quality. However, it is a challenge to design a small pore-size membrane system that treats very concentrated, large-volume streams within a reasonable time period. In the processing industries, several membrane technologies are used to separate various fluid streams where the concentrate or filtrate contains high-value products. Nevertheless, pore blocking is one of the major factors determining the applicability, efficiency and performance of the mem

Abstract:
Abstract Recycling of slightly radioactively contaminated steel scrap from nuclear installations to waste containers, shieldings or any other components for the nuclear cycle is practice in Germany since the early 90ies. To qualify the process, characterization of the radiological inventories in metal, slag and filter dust as well as metallurgical analysis is necessary. Therefore samples from the melt, slag and filter dust are taken to be analyzed by gammaspectroscopy. Alpha and beta emitting radionuclide inventories are calculated based on the typical nuclide ratio of the nuclear facility whe

Distributed algorithms that operate in the fail-recovery model rely on the state stored in stable memory to guarantee the irreversibility of operations even in the presence of failures. The performance of these algorithms lean heavily on the performance of stable memory. Current storage technologies have a defined performance profile: data is accessed in blocks of hundreds or thousands of bytes, random access to these blocks is expensive and sequential access is somewhat better. File system implementations hide some of the perfor- mance limitations of the underlying storage devices using buffe

Municipal sewage sludge has a high concentration of phosphorus, which should be recovered because phosphorus is a limited natural resource. In this work, sewage sludge was co-fired with wood in a FBC boiler. The aim of the investigating was to study the solubility of phosphorus in the ashes, by leaching as an alternative to the phosphorous recovery method of using the ashes directly on farmlands. The fly ashes from the boiler’s secondary cyclone and bag filter were leached at various pH-values and the release of phosphorus was measured. Only acidic leaching was applied. The ashes precipitated
