AbstractIn structural glass design, an often-applied connection is a bolted connection subjected to in-plane tensile loads. Traditionally, the hole in the glass pane is manufactured by core drilling and conical edge finishing. An alternative method is by waterjet cutting the holes, resulting in cylindrically shaped holes. This research compares the edge strength of core drilled and waterjet cut holes. It focuses on in-plane tensile tests and consists of an experimental part in combination with a numerical part. In the in-plane tensile tests, peak stresses occur perpendicular to the load direct

AbstractThe objective of this experiment was to identify the effects of two-stage separation of a mixture of corn hybrid seeds to their fractional structure, sawing qualities, and harvesting properties. Research materials were seeds from different ripeness groups of selection in the State Establishment Institute of Grain Crops of National Academy Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The research included the laboratory modeling of the seed-separation process in the regimes of sieve separation which was done by features of the linear dimension of a seed. The separation process had two stages – the fir

To carry out product virtual design for diesel engine combustion system, the top-down method is used. The diesel engine combustion system is designed and each part is modeled in Pro/E. Pro/E is a solid modeler and this offers considerable advantage for solid model creation. Normally, the geometry is first sketched in 2-D and then extruded in the third direction to generate a 3-D model. In Pro/E, it is important to first create the base geometry. The base geometry is that captures the design intent of the part to be modeled. This base geometry can be created using either the EXTRUDE or the REVO

Abrasive finishing techniques are developed to overcome the problems such as high direct labor cost and to produce finished precision parts with specific features for finishing inaccessible areas. Abrasive finishing is carried out with a large number of cutting edges, which have indefinite orientation and geometry. Abrasive fine finishing processes are commonly employed because of their inherent capabilities of finishing various geometries of form, (i.e., flat surface, round surface, etc), and various geometries of surface relation (i.e. parallelism, squareness, straightness, angularity, etc.)

Mathematical tools underlie a method that has strong potential to lower the cost of fixture-setup when finishing large castings that have machined surfaces where other components are attached. One math tool, the kinematic transformation, is used for the first time to construct Tolerance-Map® (T-Map)® models of geometric and size tolerances that are applied to planar faces and to the axes of round shapes, such as pins or holes. For any polygonal planar shape, a generic T-Map primitive is constructed at each vertex of its convex hull, and each is sheared uniquely with the kinematic transformatio

The contemporary video game market is as recognisable for its brands as it is for the characters that populate their game worlds, from franchise-leading characters like Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect original trilogy), Princess Zelda (The Legend of Zelda franchise) and Cortana (HALO franchise) to more recent game icons like Miles Morales (Marvel's Spiderman game franchise) and Judy Alvarez (Cyberpunk 2077). Interactions with these casts of characters enhance the richness of games and their playable worlds, giving a sense of weight and meaning to player actions, emphasising thematic interests, an
