Abstract:
The objective of the thesis is to compare polynomials and finite Blaschke products, and demonstrate that they share many similar properties and hence we can establish a dictionary between these two kinds of finite maps for the first time. The results for polynomials were reviewed first. In particular, a special kind of polynomials was discussed, namely, Chebyshev polynomials, which can be defined by the trigonometric cosine function cos ?. Also, a complete classification for two polynomials sharing a set was given. In this thesis, some analogous results for finite Blaschke products

Abstract:
In finite dimensions, Hopf algebras have a very nice duality theory, as the vector space dual of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra is also a Hopf algebra in a canonical way. This breaks down in the infinite-dimensional setting, as here the dual need not be a Hopf algebra. Instead, one chooses a subalgebra of the vector space dual called the finite dual. This subalgebra is always canonically a Hopf algebra. In this thesis, we aim to better understand the finite dual by trying to understand how the finite dual of a crossed product relates to the finite duals of its components. We start by invest

Abstract:
This dissertation studies semidirect products of a torus by a finite group from the representation theory point of view. The finite group of greatest interest is the cyclic group of prime order. Such semidirect products occur in nature as isotropy groups of Lie groups acting on themselves by conjugation and as normalizers of maximal tori in reductive linear algebraic groups. The main results of this dissertation are: a) the calculation of the representation ring of such semidirect products as an algebra over the integers for certain special cases, b) the adaptation of an algorithm from invaria

Springback is a phenomenon that occurs when nonhomogeneous elastic and plastic deformation occurs throughout a component during forming processes. Since the elastic deformation is recovered when the forming load is removed, geometrical changes occur. Springback is particularly important in sheet forming; therefore, in order to provide formed parts of close tolerances it is essential to first have a good understanding of the factors which affect springback and to be able to determine the extent those factors have. It is also important to be able to predict springback under different conditions

In general, a direct product of finitely many groups from one of these classes does not belong to the same class, unless the orders of the direct factors are relatively prime. Abstract:
