Abstract:
Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions through metal carbene migratory insertion have emerged as powerful methodology for carbon–carbon bond constructions. Typically, diazo compounds (or in situ generated diazo compounds from N-tosylhydrazones) have been employed as the metal carbene precursors for this type of cross-coupling reactions. Recently, cross-coupling reactions employing non-diazo carbene precursors, such as conjugated ene-yne-ketones, allenyl ketones, alkynes, cyclopropenes, and Cr(0) Fischer carbenes, have been developed. This account will summarize our efforts in the

Fischer carbenes are important starting materials for C-C bond formation via coupling reactions between carbene and wide variety of substituted alkenes or alkynes. This DFT study shed light on unique fundamental organic/organometallic aspects for the C(OMe)Me carbene in the free form and in case of bonding with M(CO)4(M= Cr, Mo, W). The data illustrate that the structures of the title intermediates include a unique structure stabilizing intramolecular M…C-H interaction (agostic interaction). Fischer carbene complexes of the Group VI transition metals (Cr, Mo and W) containing at least two or three different transition metal substituents, all in electronic contact with the carbene carbon atom, were synthesized and studied both in solution and in the solid state. For the complexes of the type [M(CO)5{C(OR)R’}], the substituents chosen included (hetero)aromatic (benzene or thiophene) rings π-bonded to a chromium tricarbonyl fragment or ferrocene as the R’-substituent, while the OR-substituent was systematically varied between an ethoxy or a titanoxy group, to yield the complexes 1 (M

Abstract:
A computational chemistry analysis combined with a crystallographic database study of the bonding in late transition metal N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes is reported. The results illustrate a metal-carbon bond for these complexes, approximately 4% shorter than that of a M-C single bond found in metal alkyl complexes. As a consequence of this result, two hypotheses are investigated. The first hypothesis explores the possibility of multiple-bond character in the metal-carbon linkage of the NHC complex, and the second, considers the change in the hybridization of the carbenoid carbon to

The present study involves the use of main group organometallics: organostannanes and organolithiums as precursors to chromium Fischer carbene complexes. Fischer carbenes are well stabilized by the π‐donor substituents such as alkoxy and amino groups and low oxidation state metals such as Group 6 (Chromium, Molybdenum or Tungsten). Carbenes are an important intermediate in the synthesis of a range of compounds through cyclopropanations, insertions, coupling and photochemical reactions.
