This paper presents distribution and automation radio broadcasting organization that is operated by international radio stations such as Voice of America (VOA) using the control center that must rely on the cost of the electrical and electronic instruments and the operation and must be very high dependency computer technology that is relative to clock and must be done regularly to ensure the accuracy. The changing schedule of automation radio broadcasting controlled by programmable logic controller, PLC [1] and the master clock [2] is time in second is required to execute the PLC program for every changing of the schedule program. The ideology of silence of sound signal (Audio Mute) is used when each program ends instead using the master clock to execute the PLC program for changing the schedule radio program. The application of audio mute for changing new schedule when each program ends can be compared with the using the master clock controlling the PLC will be also minimum deviation of the time that will impact on automation radio broadcasting.

Abstract:
Radio content is central to the formation of the broadcast programming grid. News releases, depending on the format of the radio station, are broadcast regularly: every 15 minutes, every half hour, every hour. And also the format of the media affects the specifics of the compilation and layout of the news block. The functional features of news broadcasting of information radio stations are, first of all, the “depth” of news feed with the possibility of a detailed description of current events, inclusion of expert comments and ratings in the issue. In turn, for entertainment radio stations, a certain “narrowness” of information broadcasting is inherent, which should correlate with the format of the media and the age of its target audience. In order to indicate the information agenda on entertainment radio stations, the author analyzes it using the popular “Radio Dacha” as an example. The purpose of this study is to identify the functional features and characteristics of the news releases broadcast on “Radio Dacha”. To conduct the study, the method of included observation and content analysis of news releases on radio stations from April 2011 to December 2019 were used. The study showed that it is the format of the radio station that plays a key role in the formation of news releases. The layout is also affected by the target audience and program policy of the radio station. Listeners are told about the pragmatic but exciting side of life. The news is broadcast on the main agenda in Russia and the world in a short but capacious format that echoes the rhetoric of the ruling political party. Based on what, we can draw the following conclusion: there is informational content on “Radio Dacha”, but news release is rather an actual infotainment program without a “depth” of information material.

Abstract:
Thesis (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Program in Media Arts & Sciences, 1999.
Includes bibliographical references (p. 58-59).
Synthetic News Radio uses automatic speech recognition and clustered text news stories to automatically find story boundaries in an audio news broadcast, and it creates semantic representations that can match stories of similar content through audio-based queries. Current speech recognition technology cannot by itself produce enough information to accurately characterize news audio; therefore, the clustered text stories represent a knowledge base of relevant news topics that the system can use to combine recognition transcripts of short, intonational phrases into larger, complete news stories. Two interface mechanisms, a graphical desktop application and a touch-tone drive phone interface, allow quick and efficient browsing of the new structured news broadcasts. The system creates a personal, synthetic newscast by extracting stories, based on user interests, from multiple hourly newscasts and then reassembling them into a single recording at the end of the day. The system also supports timely delivery of important stories over a LAN or to a wireless audio pager. This thesis describes the design and evaluation of the news segmentation and content matching technology, and evaluates the effectiveness of the interface and delivery mechanisms.
by Keith Jeffrey Emnett.
S.M.

Abstract:
Internet and digital media have profoundly reorganised the radio landscape by giving birth to new formats and patterns of radio listening. Today, traditional radio actors systematically use online platforms to diffuse their programs and communicate with their audience. This master thesis offers a case study and examines how Radio FIP, a French music station of public service, uses its digital devices to diffuse its program and produce content online. On the basis of existing researches on radio and radio diffusion online, and with the help of the concepts of format, media logics and hybrid media system, the author of this paper defines two logics of traditional radio and radio online used as reference in order to analysis the influence of media logics on the station’s material and formats online. Observation of Radio FIP’s website and social media pages on Facebook and Twitter showed a clear influence of radio online logics in the visual and informative extra content, the additional audio offers through online webradio streams, the promotion of non linear and asynchronous formats of radio listening’s and the incorporation of networked media frames. At the same time, logics of traditional radio prove to be also very significant with the pre-eminence and promotion of the station’s on air broadcast on digital devices and the reproduction of traditional radio patterns of temporality, music prescription and vertical communication on social media platforms. The coexistence of the two logics in Radio FIP online platforms characterises the station’s digital apparatus as a hybrid media space, and opens up new research trails for better understanding what influence the content formats of radio stations diffusing online.

However, we can easily obtain unlimited amount of unlabeled speech data. In order to gain this advantage, the objective of this paper to use semi-supervised training to improve ASR’s performance. We using Quality Estimation to predict utterance WER. Then a subset of the unlabeled speech utterance which is predicted to have good recognition quality was added into the training data of the speech recognizer and retrain acoustic model. In experimental results, we evaluate two test data set of broadcast materials. The CER could be reduced from 25.00% to 23.61% and from 14.24% to 13.24% with QE-based data selection methods. We also retrain language model with Giga Word, the CER could be reduced from 23.61% to 23.25% and from 13.24% to 12.63%. Finally, we implement online Automatic Radio Transcriber provides speech recognition service.

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺北科技大學
電子工程系研究所
105
The purpose of this paper is to automatically cut out the speech, music, and other incident paragraphs in the broadcast program to facilitate subsequent processing, such as writing verbaries for speech paragraphs or checking the copyright of music paragraphs. Traditionally, this problem mostly uses Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) models. However, in order to further improve the detection accuracy, we propose to input the original spectrogram spectrum directly in this paper, so that Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) automatically learn how to obtain the best parameters and how to accurately detect these audio events. We will be divided into news programs and different nature of the talk program, each capture 14 programs (length of about 60 hours), after artificial labeling, used to compare the performance of CNNs and GMMs, the experimental results show that CNNs in the Detection of voice and non-speech, music and non-music or other non-other equal error rates (EERs), respectively, 2.26%, 12.52% and 9.50%, are lower than GMMs 3.65%, 15.68% and 13.25%. Therefore, the CNNs event detection system proposed in this paper is superior to the traditional GMMs in terms of the overall experimental results.

Abstract:
Before the first broadcast of a black show in May 1946, a white local daily, the Times Picayune, identified the program in its radio schedule as the “Religious Forum.” After the first broadcast, the paper unilaterally changed the listing to “Negro Services,” effectively marginalizing the show. Approximately nine months later, WNOE attempted to change the talk show's time slot from 10 a.m.-10:15 a.m. Sundays to 11 a.m. Sundays. Taylor rebuffed. A wave of black support to keep the time slot poured into the station. Management relented. After approximately one year, Taylor changed the show's name to the “Negro Forum of the Air.” More muted Afrocentric topics, such as the significance of the black press, were added to the repertoire. As Taylor expanded to nearby cities and towns, white public officials sent notices to him warning against communist influence infiltrating his broadcasts.

Abstract:
This chapter explores popular representations of America in Northern Nigeria radio broadcast using Greetings From America (a call-in program aimed at encouraging Nigerian citizens to seek admission and further their education in American universities) as case study. The chapter is based on a qualitative content analysis of over 15 editions of the program as well as on semi-structured interviews with the News and Current Affairs Manager of Freedom Radio Kano and other relevant informants. The chapter hinges on the propaganda and representation theories. It illustrates how Greeting From America represents a suitable window into America and a platform where Northern Nigerians living and studying in the United States mostly express positive stereotypes of America. The chapter further argues that the program's contents and reception by Northern Nigerians show all the complexity and ambivalence of U.S.'s image in Northern Nigeria. In effect, the impressions of people interviewed in this study coupled with insights drawn from relevant literary sources are sometimes conflicting with the dominantly negative image of the U.S. in Northern Nigeria's popular imagination.

Abstract:
<em>Abstract</em>.—At the extreme southern boundary of its range, the lake sturgeon <em>Acipenser fulvescens </em>was once an important biological component of the Coosa River system of Georgia–Alabama. During the 1970s, the population was extirpated by the combined effects of overfishing and degraded water quality. Over the past 20 years, water quality has improved, and in 2002, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources initiated a lake sturgeon reintroduction program with the goal of establishing a self-sustaining population within 20 years. From 2004 to 2007, we evaluated the initial phase of this reintroduction program by quantifying poststocking survival and seasonal habitat use of juvenile lake sturgeon in the Coosa River. We used gill nets and trammel nets to capture juveniles at several locations in both riverine and reservoir habitats. Fourteen individual juveniles were randomly selected for surgical implantation of radio tags to monitor their seasonal movements and habitat use. Over the 3 years of the study, we captured a total of 597 juvenile lake sturgeon measuring 231–790 mm total length. Using capture probabilities calculated from Program MARK (White and Burnham 1999), we estimated a total abundance of 789 (690–889, 95% confidence interval) juvenile lake sturgeon in 2006. Survival of each cohort from date stocked to summer 2006 varied from 1% to 14%, depending on year and size of fish stocked. Seasonal movements of juveniles varied; however, most fish occupied a relatively short reach in the lower river during summer months when water temperatures were more than 258C. At least 1% of fish stocked in each cohort have survived, and the population appears to be gradually increasing with each additional year of stocking. Further studies are needed to monitor annual recruitment and to evaluate reproductive success as first cohorts reach maturity.

Abstract:
“La Grande Famiglia” (1948-1961), an Italian-language radio program on New York City’s WOV-AM, was a unique transnational communication enterprise that reached half a million families. The program’s Rome-based representative drove to Italian Americans’ hometowns to record mundane family news, chastisements and pleas, and heartfelt expressions of love and longing, which were in turn broadcast in the United States. This chapter examines the social context and cultural content of five recorded messages from one family to reveal how transnational intimacy was maintained sonically across the geographic divide. Private and public lives heard on the corporate-sponsored program converged in a shared sonority, a multiplicity of reverberating voices that revealed, bolstered, and endorsed a diasporic understanding of migrant families’ lives.

Abstract:
This chapter presents cooperative relaying networks that are helpful in Internet of Thing (IoT) applications for fifth-generation (5G) radio networks. It provides reliable connectivity as the wireless device is out of range from cellular network, high throughput gains and enhance the lifetime of wireless networks. These features can be achieved by designing the advanced protocols. The design of advanced protocols plays an important role to combat the effect of channel fading, data packet scheduling at the buffered relay, average delay, and traffic intensity. To achieve our goals, we consider two-way cooperative buffered relay networks and then investigate advanced protocols such as without channel state information (CSI) i.e., buffer state information (BSI) only and with partial transmit CSI i.e., BSI/CSI with the assistance of one dimensional Markov chain and transmission policies in fading environment. The outage probability of consecutive links and outage probability of multi-access and broadcast channels are provided in closed-form. Further, the buffered relay achieves maximum throughput gains in closed-form for all these protocols. The objective function of throughput of the buffered relay is evaluated in fractional programming that is transformed into linear program using standard CVX tool. Numerical results show that our proposed protocols performance better as compared to conventional method studied in the literature. Finally, this chapter provides possible future research directions.

Today’s National Airspace System (NAS) is managed using an aging surveillance radar system. The radar technology is not adequate to sustain the support of aviation growth and cannot be adapted to use 21st century technologies Therefore, FAA has begun to implement the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) that would transform today’s aviation and ensure increased safety and capacity. The first building block of the NextGen system is the implementation of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) system. One of the most important design aspects of the ADS-B program is the design of the terrestrial radio station infrastructure. This design determines the layout of the terrestrial radio stations throughout the United States and is optimized to meet system performance, safety and security. Designing this infrastructure to meet system requirements is at the core of Service Volume (SV) Engineering. In this paper, the authors present a complex Geospatial/RF design ER Development model-based ADS-B SV Engineering design that captures radio sites layout and configuration parameters. CORE software is selected to implement the model-based SV Engineering environment.
